Level 5’s latest endeavor in the realm of JRPGs is a beautiful journey and an excellent choice for fans of Japanese role playing games. It comes with an interesting story, rich content and well written characters that reminded us of the golden age of the genre.

Tales studio delivers another great JRPG -albeit not as great as Vesperia- with a strong narrative and a superb battle system.

Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 is a game for people who really love the Olympic Games and want to buy memorabilia of the event as someone would buy a pin of the town the Games are taking place in or a t-shirt with the mascot. But as video game, it really looks like the typical, almost bland, product coming out of a production line every four years.

While a bit safe in design, The Outer World offers a well imagined new world with great writing, crazy characters & politics, 30 well-packed hours with tons of replayability and a sublime background texture of Easter eggs, tributes and well crafted jokes.

Deck13 took all the lessons learned from the first Surge, harnessed all the experience gained from its development and delivered a sequel that is improved in every aspect. Fans of soulsborne games should not miss on one of the best level-designs we have seen in the genre and the always satisfying and unique dismemberment function.

A worthy addition to the franchise that will certainly please the fans. The journey of Joseph Capelli is effectively emotional, offering -finally- radically improved shooting mechanics along with a vast variety of atmospheric environments. Unfortunately, the sudden ending doesn't offer any answers or a conclusion to the Chimera saga.

Dispatch proves that the episodic format in gaming is far from derivative, it just requires the right content, a timely and consistent release schedule, and, of course, strong writing to make its cliffhangers land. This essentially visual-novel experience excels on all fronts, keeping us hooked each week and making us genuinely care about its characters. It ensures we think twice before every decision, no matter how big or small their impact on the story.

Quite unexpectedly Robocop: Rogue City far surpassed our expectations. It really captures the essence of the first two films, offering a true sequel. Teyon managed to fully deliver the feeling of becoming Robocop.

While it has its flaws, this new version of Gabriel Knight is as powerful and as suspenseful as it was 20 years ago. Let’s just hope it paves the way for the return of the legendary hero and the much awaited Gabriel Knight 4.

Tekken Tag Tournament 2 is keeping alive all the things Namco's franchise is well known and loved for and delivers a superb single and multiplayer experience. Until the release of the new Soul Calibur game, this is probably the best fighting game out there.

A hymn to the beauty of the round goddess, PES 2018 boasts the finest and most direct gameplay to ever grace a football title alongside a few interesting additions from last year. However, off the pitch things seem to have really fallen behind the competition. It is time for KONAMI to revolutionize things like the menus, modes and licences, in order to give meaning to this otherwise wonderful and exhilarating on-pitch action.

Bigger, better and with more chickens. Guacamelee! 2 is an especially enjoyable metroidvania. Its sense of humor is extremely clever, helping us to keep a constant grin on our face from beginning to end. Moreover, the platforming elements are even more varied providing hard but fair challenges that always bring something new to the table until the end of the adventure.

Through the Nightmares will certainly challenge even the most hardcore platforming fans, and thankfully, its tight gameplay is up to the task. It also offers plenty of collectibles that support replayability, all wrapped in a unique and moody dark aesthetic. It's far from a casual experience, with some noticeable difficulty spikes, but fans of tough platformers will feel right at home.

A sequel that dares to go into the open world territory and do it right by creating a space that functions in its entirety in favor of the story, horror atmosphere and gameplay, without hindering its pace in the least. It may have its own share of caveats, but, nevertheless, The Evil Within 2 is a highly commendable sequel.

Overall Destiny 2 manages to satisfy while it fails to impress. Even though it certainly offers way more content than its predecessor, it does not strive to make a bold step to exceed expectations. Some may say that this should not have been a sequel in the first place and they are not entirely wrong. From a technical standpoint and judging by the abundance of content, it rightfully deserves to be called a sequel. However, when it comes to the story and campaign, it could have just as easily been another expansion to Destiny.

A Way Out is an especially entertaining adventure with excellent pace, a nice variety of environments and constant introduction of new gameplay mechanics, which may be simplistic from time to time but, nevertheless, never outstay their welcome. In the end it’s a very rare example of a game designed specifically for a pure co-op experience.

Kirby Star Allies is HAL Laboratory’s debut game on the Nintendo Switch and is definitely the perfect reminder of why the franchise has been loved over the course of years and why Kirby is an adored gaming icon. Even though the game does not reach the standards of successful Nintendo releases that have already been released on the Switch, it holds the promise of a brilliant future lying ahead. Overall, it is a fun and enjoyable journey that should be experienced with friends or members of the family.
