    DJ Hero
    DJ Hero is without question Activision's coolest rhythm game. The turntable has its drawbacks (it's a bit small for larger folks), but that soundtrack will give you a new appreciation for music and perhaps satisfy your DJ fantasy. Just don't pass this off as another game with a useless peripheral. It's one of the sweetest, most original games we've played in a long time.

    God of War: Chains of Olympus
    The gameplay works wonderfully, even with the limited PSP control set-up. Executing Kratos' vicious attacks and other special moves are easy and enjoyable to perform. Best of all, it's just fun to play, as long as you don't mind the carnage.

    Final Fantasy XII
    Thanks to the strong attention to detail, the world of Ivalice feels less like a video game and more like an actual place. Not only are the actions and motivations of the various characters believable, but the characters themselves are often quite memorable to boot.

    After a lackluster performance from last year, Tiger Woods PGA Tour 09 excels in every area imaginable. The addition of Woods' personal coach, Hank Haney, introduces a significant new skill improvement system with a series of practice drills and advice.

    Yeah, the graphics don't really go too far forward, the online options could've been less strenuous, and the load time could've been cut back. Regardless, there's still far greater good here than we could've ever expected from the game.

    We dare you to find a better baseball video game than Sony's MLB 09: The Show. Instead of resting on its laurels, the company took an already excellent sports game and make it sweeter than the New York Yankees' starting lineup.

    With Split/Second, Black Rock Studio has clearly blown the doors off. This is fast-paced racing at its finest, the best of its kind since Burnout 3: Takedown hit the open road years ago. It'll take a lot to top this one.

    Online play and additional challengers (Disco Kid is the only new character) would've made this even better, but Punch-Out!! is still a fun and nostalgia driven arcade style boxing game that every Wii owner should play.

    Sony did an excellent job porting two phenomenal games to PS3, and we strongly suggest you replay them in all their glory. Of course, if you never experienced the God of War franchise, you're in for a wonderful treat.

    Grand Theft Auto IV: The Lost and Damned
    We're pleased that this new add-on experience doesn't stray far from the source material. At the same time, there is a certain been-there, done-that feeling, and Johnny's ongoing clashes with biker gang boss Billy are so telegraphed that they fall flat compared to the (by comparison) subtle nuances of Niko's story.

    Although the game's a brain splattering good time, we still don't understand why Valve refuses to allow users to aim down the sights of a weapon, instead of always shooting from the hip. It gets the job done most of the time, but we feel everyone's accuracy would improve if they could line up their shots.

    The voice acting continues the Grand Theft Auto trend of excellence, even with weirder characters like Yusuf. ("I seem to have forgotten my pants.") The dialogue is excellent, even if it is laced with enough slurs and profanity to make a senator cringe.

    The 2-D graphics are wonderfully drawn, the soundtrack is epic and the bosses are among the best we've seen. We don't like the boring two-player races and item trading, but overall, this is one of the best Castlevanias to date.

    None of the modes - Arcade, Time Attack, Versus - scream innovation, and confusing anime-style cut scenes had us scratching our heads, but the wealth of hidden content, online play and addictive combat make Street Fighter IV one of 2009's most exciting video games.

    Worms: Open Warfare 2
    Several new modes and weapons add tremendously to the game, including an entertaining new Puzzle mode that really puts wormy minds to work.
