While Tecmo Bowl Throwback definitely scratches your nostalgia itch (if you have one), it's just plain and not very fun in the long run in this day and age.

Despite its new look, fairly interesting storyline, and a bucket load of new moves and features, this game is fatally flawed by the completely revamped control system which makes it a nightmare of frustration.

It has an awesome score, a decent story and is one sexy beast. Unfortunately for us, Factor 5 seems to have fallen into the old trap of making outward appearances so appealing, they forgot to make a solid game on the inside.

Even after a sequel, this Street still falls flat on its asphalt.

Equal parts chrome and rust, Metal Saga has what it needs to get you down the road, but forgets to include a map or destination. Lease, don’t buy.

Although CivCity: Rome is just as good a game as it was fifteen years ago, it’s still an almost direct port of Caesar II with 3D graphics and the sly marketing gimmick of sharing a name with one of the all-time greats. We recommend sacking another town.

Rumors about a U.S. release of "Samurai Shodown V Special," a more complete version of this game with more fully-realized fighters, have been making rounds at some forums. That might be worth waiting for, because this version certainly isn't. If you own "Samurai Shodown IV," this deserves no more than a rental.

Opoona fails as an introductory RPG for the young'uns, because it's not as easy and straightforward as it should be; and for more versed RPG players, it doesn't provide anything innovative or compelling.

A very average action game that’s only funny when it isn’t trying to be. Vaporizing humans and terrorizing cities in a big flying saucer is still fun, but the missions are decidedly of this world.

Since it's fairly easy to find all the necessary objects, and you can safely talk to every character about almost every object, it's not much of a challenge to finish the game. There's only one storyline, one ending, and one mode of play (i.e. easy), so you're not likely to play the game through more than once.

Perhaps developers should focus more on quality over quantity and start heading in a different direction before they tire out their fans with sequels.

The hand-holding map, health boosts, and high-powered arsenal sap the fun out of what could have been a decent third-person shooter.

There’s a good concept here, and with a little more effort, this could have been a good game.

It’s sad to think that with all its high-tech fanciness of the new console generation, TMNT can’t even muster up the personality and gameplay of the old arcade games.

I like the concept of River King, the endearing characters, and even the tranquility of the landscapes, but the focus is way off-target.

The extra missions would have really helped flesh out the original. But it's not really worth a second price of admission. Wait for this one to hit the bargain bin, or if you don't have the original, wait for the inevitable "bundle."

The main challenge is actually having the will to keep playing until the end. The downloadable gaming space is already saturated with twin-stick shooters, and while Zombie Apocalypse tries to stir up the formula by adding the already decaying - no pun intended - cliché of zombies into the pot, it ends up being just another shooter.

Tries to make advances in the import racing game scene with a big city and interesting reward system, but its lack of white-knuckle racing and true customization slows it down. All show and no go makes this a dull ride.

I wonder what Segata Sanshiro would say if he were alive today. He was a commanding force who stood for playing hard until the score topped out or your fingers snapped under the pressure. More than that, he believed in the power of Sega, and so did I.

It’s just a bit of, well, a waste. It begs for something more, some more substance to the charm that’s already here in spades—more under-the-hood play for those precocious kiddies, more behind-the-scenes goodies for those older kiddies-at-heart who, let’s face it, probably bought WALL-E for their own kids to play.

For newbies, the controls are too unwieldy, and for veterans, though they’ll get a short burst of fret-shredding (for $49.99…), stylus scraping just doesn’t compare to a life-sized Gibson controller. With all the fumbling it takes to hold the DS comfortably, you’ll wonder why you’re playing this in public.

A good RPG brought down by the very thing it touted as a feature: complexity. Buggy gameplay and a distinct lack of plot turn this promising game into a lesson in mediocrity.

I was surprised at how simple and fun the fairy collection was, but the combat mechanics are a dull affair. Traipsing around in the walls isn’t all it’s cracked up to be, and the game’s reliance on the field guide is a lazy design trick.

With a little effort, they really could have done a lot more with Pirate Hunter, like adding some personal stats and experience to you character, skills like swordfighting or cannon-laying or allowing you to hire specific crew members with different skills.

If you really have to get down with some four-player bashing on the Gamecube, grab a used copy of "Super Smash." (Or go new; Nintendo could use the cash.) Even diehard Viewtiful Joe fans should think twice before spending the money on this madness.

Even with the triple tag team and strong character progression, Warriors Orochi 2 for PSP is more of a rehash of a rehash of its franchise rather than a redesign.
