Playing The Sinking City on Nintendo Switch means going down to some compromises more than the PS4 and Xbox One edition: a couple of exclusive features, not very significant for the general experience, are not enough to compensate for a gameplay still too raw by current standards.

Despite being weighed down by a certain repetitiveness (accentuated by the need to repeat the missions several times to scrape together parts of equipment and credits) and although it has some technical limitations, Daemon X Machina represents a respectable exponent of the mech games, able to satisfy the hunger for fans of robottoni and blows.

Spiders' latest game succeeds in lifting itself from the terrible mediocrity that enveloped The Techomancer, but it does so with an effort that, although commendable, is still not vigorous enough.

The ingredients are all there, but in a nutshell those sought-after situations that could make the title memorable, and so Blasphemous is sometimes crude, poorly finished, and this also applies to the technical packaging; stylistically interesting, of course, but which fails to persist on the quality front, ending up fluctuating between the remarkable and the modest.

Repeating the same title that came out fifteen years ago, in an almost slavish way, has done nothing but silence the small but noisy part of the community that, for years, has been clamoring for the origins of Azeroth, annoyed by the excessive simplification of the title.

Those who prefer a good story even at the expense of inadequate game mechanics, will experience a different experience with the Bergson family, not revolutionary or particularly memorable, but nevertheless capable of making their mark.

Gears 5 is a very solid chapter of one of the cornerstones of gaming in Xbox format: an episode that proudly reaffirms the vigorous soul of Lancer's armed fighters and the talent of a studio like The Coalition, stopping just a step away from absolute excellence.

Between revisions and additions to the gameplay, improvements to the quality of life of the players, and a simply surprising amount of content, Iceborne inherits all the strengths of the base game and further amplifies its enjoyment, coming to rewrite the rules of a potentially endless endgame.

On balance WRC 8 is an old title, only partially saved by the new features so much publicized in the development phase (new Career, partially revised driving model, dynamic weather) and incapable, so uncertain between pure arcade and simulative ambitions only partially explained , to offer an all-round driving experience.

The work is raw, but not ruthless to the point of being frustrating, especially for those who are used to the "winner takes all" policy.

The conversion, although it does not subtract any content element, unfortunately presents some technical weaknesses, linked in particular to an unstable TV frame rate, which unfortunately partially affects the enjoyment of the gameplay.

The wait was undoubtedly well rewarded, given the results fielded by Wreckfest. A fun arcade racing game, enhanced by a damage system with few equals on consoles and a wide variety of cars, races and tracks. We would have expected some new entries compared to the PC version in circulation for over a year, above all to avoid the risk, in the long run, of a certain repetition in the mechanics of the Career.

Only regret that the Miami Collection Hotline renounces to remedy the sporadic programming defects that occurred - and still manifest themselves - during the game. Perhaps the symptom of a little laziness, which however does not have the slightest power to bury the enormous value of a series that has rightly become a cult.

The essence of Final Fantasy VIII is all there is, and every element of the game is there in its place like two decades ago, but the aspect with which it presents itself highlights the little care dedicated to the graphics sector.

The potential of the video camera, a central tool for solving puzzles, is partially thrown to the winds due to a puzzle structure that remains the same from beginning to end. What remains is still a game with a good atmosphere, which perfectly embodies - at least in the first part - the spirit of cinematographic films, also thanks to some clever and exquisite workmanship.

You can have fun with Gears POP, especially in the first few sessions, but the loot boxes and the wait to discover their contents are an unpleasant and tedious mechanism for those who don't want to pay extra money.

While not giving back the sense of adventure and the unbridled collecting of the games that make up the main series of Game Freak, Pokémon Masters can represent an excellent pastime for those who are never satisfied with struggles between Pocket Monsters: production can indeed entertain with a story long-lived and a fair amount of content.

Man of Medan keeps himself afloat thanks to an atmosphere full of charm, to a sufficiently original multiplayer structure and to a valuable sense of investigative discovery that supports the limited exploration. However, the numerous possibilities of choice are not always adequately supported by an all too predictable script and by a recourse to a rather mannerist horror, which in the long run ends up reducing tension.

With a bit of extra care – or better, with less focus on everything that's not combat and simply more triumphant action – Astral Chain could have been even a bigger bang. As it is, it's a superb exclusive and one of the best games of 2019: not bad for a completely new IP, one that in more than a way truly is PlatinumGames's magnum opus.

The addition of a virtually flawless VR mode - at least from the point of view of game dynamics - represents the missing piece of an enveloping videogame mosaic, which captivates the senses and enchants them with always abundant doses of audiovisual wonder. Some technical problems remain, but nothing prevents No Man’s Sky from dragging the audience on a journey without boundaries, towards the extreme limits of the universe.
