Echoes of Time is what Final Fantasy Crytal Chronicles saga should have been from the very beginning. Fast, funny and at the same time fairly deep. Possibly played with 4 friends, this game reprensent a must-buy for anyone who love RPGs.

A semi-new version of Diamond and Pearl, amended and finally free from the minor issues. Still, Platinum presents the same formula that the game drags since 1999; so, if you want something new, you have to wait for the next chapters.

Resistance Retribution is a good starting point for the PSP revival. An action game with a frenetic and full immersive gameplay, good technique and a totally new multiplayer structure. A must buy for every PSP owners.

The fusion of the classical Harvest Moon experience with the elements of the action-based RPGs is the key formula for a game which succeeds in catching the player and keeping his attention. Complexity in the gameplay is an option, not a rule, and Rune Factory: Frontier is one of the best examples, providing solid fun and a rewarding, deep experience. For all those who've never tried the Harvest Moon gameplay it's an occasion not to be wasted.

GTA Chinatown Wars is a little big revolution. Even played on DS, this title can compete with the home console version, for quality and innovation. A new fresh game that can be placed into the DS top title list.

PES 09 is one of the best football games ever made. It is able to improve upon some of the most important issues of the last year iteration (shoot, defense, game modes, local multiplayer), offering a unique gameplay experience to all the Wii owners.

Obviously dedicated to Strategy Fans (casual gamers should avoid Men of War). Good graphics, a deep gameplay and an impressive lasting appeal makes this title one of the best RTS of this year.

Resident Evil 5 is not a masterpiece. It lacks originality, and reuses old gameplay mechanics that seem too scheming and stiff for the next gen standards. RE 5 stands in a sort of Limbo: it doesn't have the dynamism of an action game, and it lacks emotional transport typical of a survival horror. Despite this, it is still a good gaming experience, thanks to the excellence in graphics, the solid plot, the variety of the situations. It's a good ending for a series that needs a refreshing twist.

An excellent RPG, deep and complex, perfect for those who dislike linear experiences and trivial combat system.

Although it has an improved graphical system (16:9 and 480p scan are available), and a control scheme perfectly functional, Pikmin is the same game of six years ago. Those who own a copy of the original version can leave New Play Control on the shop shelves. But those who have never experienced the adventures of Olimar, should take the opportunity to discover one of the most creative game in the past generation. Deep, immediate, poetical: Pikmin is a great classic of videogame industry.

Halo Wars is greatly linked to the Halo Universe, and for this reason the plot, the character and the unit design are great. But despite this fidelity and a control scheme perfectly functional (the best ever designed for a console RTS), Halo Wars Experience is not that deep, strategically speaking. The enemy routines and the possible attack patterns are too simple, and the game looks like a “tactical hack’n’slash”. So, the game is suitable for those who seek immediacy and “vulgar strategy”, but it may be too simple and linear for the old RTS lovers.

It's a shame that Sonic has to speed down to attack his enemies during the run through wonderful Camelot-inspired backgrounds. The game looks fantastic, sound great, and when we are allowed to run fast, dodging obstacles or jumping on the head of our enemies it also plays very well. But too often we are forced to stop our run to fight the enemies, in a simplistic hack&slash structure that tone down the overall impression that the game leaves to the gamers.

Killzone 2 is a rock solid First Person Shooter, developed with care and essential for the PS3 Line Up. It’s a peculiar title, realistic in the approach, dark and gloomy, conveying a strange perspective about war and obedience. The single player experience is linear and not that long, but the multiplayer is perfect, stressing a tactical aspect that is not so diffused in the other exponents of the genre.

Despite the classic gameplay, which does not rejuvenate the FPS genre, Eat Lead is a nice experience, because of the intelligent humor wich pervades the adventure. A brilliant parody of videogame icons, of videogamers and of the industry itself.

Shellshock 2: Blood Trials is one of the worst early 2009 games. The title is seriously inadequate under all aspects: a creepy graphical engine, an inaccurate aiming system, a ridiculous plot and a silly lasting appeal. Keep away from this title: there are more interesting shooters, published last year, that can be bought for a budget price.

Onslaught is a peculiar game: even if it looks like a First Person Shooter, the kind of the action and the enemy routines recall the scrolling shooter of the 80’s. Even the “Perfect Score” philosophy and the outstanding difficulty remind of an “old style” game. The price of the download is not that high, and the multiplayer mode sustain a discrete replay value. Perfect for those who love challenging games and for the Wii owners that suffer for shooters lack.

Blue Dragon Plus is a game with good ideas but its poorly realized. A better interface and an improved game system could value many other good features present in the game. A good technical compartment and a fair story, made this game a good choice for younger players.

Death Tank belongs to a genre not so popular and common. Even if it is enjoyable and it has simple mechanics, the price is too much onerous. You can find, on the marketplace, a masterpiece of the category (Worms) for many dollars less.

RACE Pro is an upstream game, without any redundant option, totally focused on gameplay mechanics. SimBin Studios delivered, despite an old looking aesthetics, a Triple A game, using their experience and their passion for races. We want to reward RACE Pro, even if it don't reach the top of the genre, because the feeling it delivers is sensational and solid. A competitive challenge for all car lovers.

Street Fighter IV is probably the best beat’em up of this generation. The gameplay mechanic can entertain who seek immediacy, but surely fulfills even the hardcore gamer needs, thanks to a deep system which involves Focus Attack Dash Cancel and impressive Juggle Combos. Technically speaking, the game is awesome. Maybe some players would not like the character design (gothic and grotesque), but it is perfect to revitalize the brand (following the post-modern artistic wave). A game developed with passion and method; probably the best “fan service” ever seen.

Rockstar North re-defines downloadable content standards, giving the players a huge game experience, that can compete with fully priced products. Obviously, gameplay mechanic and game structures are very similar to GTA IV ones; that means repetitious missions and variety lack. Anyway, a great plot, few changes in the base formula, and interesting characters make Lost & Damned an exciting expansion pack.

Prinny: Can I really be the Hero is a nice surprise in the dull PSP Line Up. Nippon Ichi game rises from the crowd thanks to a nice graphical design and an “old style” gameplay. Even if it doesn’t stands for it’s originality, the good variety and the nice art design make Prinny a valid game. Probably, the intense difficulty will discourage casual gamers.

3 on 3 NHL Arcade is a game to avoid. Despite of the funny gameplay, the cost of the game isn’t proportional to the global offer, which is composed by a single game mode, and “Blue Vs. Red” option will soon run out of interest.

After few months in witch our Wiis had been abused by girlfriends and parents, it's time to destroy our Balance Board, hide his battery and take again the Wiimote, thanks to the first big hardcore title from Sega. House of the Dead: Overkill is trash, pulp and wild. It's not only aesthetically perfect, but also a exalting gaming experience. Technically speaking the game is good, despite of some issues regarding framerate, and it's art direction is terrific. For an On Rail shooter, the game structure is very solid and consistent, and the replay value extremely high.
