The Last of Us brings you into a world where people die without grace, and explains to you the beauty of the extinction. It's strong, unique, brutal and, ultimately, unforgettable.

Too many times the word masterpiece has been used in an improper way, losing its real meaning. So, Super Mario Galaxy 2 is not a masterpiece. Is something words just can't describe, standing tall above all those canons which normally define a videogame. Its incredible level design, its addictive fun, shining graphics and a wonderful score make it an extremely well crafted jewel, one that's destined to shine forever in the history of videogames.

The Last of Us Part II is a monument to gaming and at the same time a productive miracle, which touches the same fate as its predecessor. That is, to close a generation by making it reach its peak, to immortalize it in a precious and painful memory: sharp as a blade, and priceless as a tear.

The grueling years of work between the game's announcement and its current release are almost too much to justify a final result so astonishing it seems like a dream, but fortunately Silksong actually exists and is a monumental Metroidvania. Immense in content, sublime in art, and challenging in gameplay, Team Cherry's masterpiece objectively has no weaknesses, although its difficulty level makes it unapproachable to anyone unwilling to familiarize themselves with the numerous tools at the protagonist's disposal. The precise movement system, as well as the satisfying combat system, are a remarkable evolution of those already admired in Hollow Knight, and likewise this sequel marks a decisive step forward with a more readable game world that contributes to the creation of an unprecedented visual and narrative universe. The references to its unforgettable predecessor are numerous and present themselves in many aspects, but Silksong is a work that shines with a blinding light of its own, and is above all an unforgettable masterpiece worthy of being counted as one of the best video games in history.

1080p and 60fps (with rare drops). Better textures and shadows. But in the end, the most exciting part of this masterpiece is still the plot, the emotions and the tears. And one year after its original release, everything is still there to surprise you.

Incredibly vast and detailed, the awkwardnesses of Oblivion is long gone and Bethesda brings the region of Skyrim to life in all its nordic strength. Ultimately Baldur's Gate 3 is, in no uncertain terms, a shining jewel of design and programming, so deep, layered and sumptuous that it can be considered the new golden standard of the genre: a benchmark of prodigious magnitude that will be a real nightmare for anyone want to embark, in the future, on the development of titles belonging to the same category. Where many would have crashed to the ground by replicating the myth of Icarus and the Sun, Larian Studios triumphs and brings a sequel to PC that in many ways even surpasses its illustrious predecessors. In short, the throne of the best RPG of the generation has just been claimed.

Split Fiction is a true triumph, a priceless title that not only manages to replicate the qualitative heights reached by the Game of the Year 2021 but surpasses them by ascending to even more astonishing levels of inventiveness. Whether you are a fan of Hazelight Studios' production, whether you loved It Takes Two or whether you simply love video games in the purest sense of the word, this is an experience you will not want to miss.

If Alan Wake was an introspective, crepuscular and dreamlike thriller, Jesse Fayden's adventure adheres more decisively to the logic of genre, recovering (from House of Leaves as well as from the Area X Trilogy) a sprawling, obsessive narrative, in a strongly intimate and in any case allusive science fiction.

That Days Gone Remastered offers a great show in Unreal Engine is evident, but net of some graphic differences, such as the improved rendering of the night sections, we can also say the same of the original incarnation of the game. Without mincing words, the two versions of the open world adventure are certainly not identical but remain comparable. Having said this, Deacon fans might find the new Horde Assault mode interesting, which allows you to experience the highest gaming merits of the production in a few minutes, between hunting large groups of Freakers - now larger than ever! - roaring escapes on motorcycles and many main and support death tools to use in battle. Those who have always wanted to get closer to Days Gone and have not been able to do so until now, could seriously consider the offer of the remastered edition: it still offers the most valid and complete way to experience a great adventure of the PS4 era, set in an Oregon as rich in charm as it is lethal.

The impact of the new textures and a revised lighting system in almost every part allows you to appreciate the adventures of the Witcher par excellence like never before, with a cinematic cut made even more effective by the addition of Ray Tracing and with unprecedented fluidity choosing to opt for the performance mode. Wisely selected the mods produced by the community, and equally effective those created from scratch to rejuvenate the most obsolete mechanics of the original game, which now benefits from a fresher and more dynamic interaction system and a close-up view that favors immersion in the exploration and combat.

It was already a wonderful game to watch on the PlayStation 4, and on the PS5 it is even more flashy: the new version of Crash 4 is fluid and graphically razor-sharp, thanks to the 60 fps frame rate and the 4K resolution; however, the visual upgrade is not all-encompassing, and certainly does not distort the glance of the production. The update for the new Sony and Microsoft consoles, which - we remember - is free and supports the transfer of old gen saves, therefore fulfills its duty without overdoing it, limiting itself to maximizing the strengths of the technical sector. Too bad only for a rather lazy implementation of DualSense, whose features are not valued sufficiently: the use of haptic feedback and a more decisive use of adaptive triggers could in fact have given the experience a more distinctive touch.

Overall, therefore, the remasters of Nioh 1 and 2 boast a solid and satisfying performance profile, while not marking a clear step forward compared to the previous versions of the two titles, at least as regards the general performance of the graphics sector.
