It's a promising opening chapter of what could become a great saga from Ready at Dawn. When credits will roll, you will have the distinct feeling of having witnessed something special and different, the rising of a new and interesting character surrounded by a fascinating background. It's still a shame that gameplay doesn't go beyond what's given for granted, many narrative aspects remain untouched, and the hour count itself remains thin, but that doesn't diminish the value of this debut.

Age of Empire: Mythologies is one of the best strategic game available on Nintendo DS. The variety of game mode ensure a high replay value, the gameplay is deep and complex, and the graphical engine put on the screen discrete models. After Advance Wars, Final Fantasy Tactics and Fire Emblem, another great game for strategy lovers.

A refreshing game, deep and complex, but suitable even for new gamers. It has cool graphics even if the engine is light, and the only issue regards the lack of a real "solo mode". Developed specifically for a multiplayer experience, Demigod is a new approach to the genre.

Fallen Champion is a nice stand-alone digression for those who crave for King Arthur's imminent sequel and for whom are simply intrigued by this epic saga for the first time. Suggested to every gamer in search of some fresh strategy during this long summer.

Episode two is probably the best iteration of the Sam & Max series: with its circular structure, its explosive irony and its oiled mechanisms, it is very difficult to find a flaw. Maybe English language could be a problem for non-native language people, but a dictionary can solve any problem.

The mix with Monster Hunter mechanics works in the end, as the part MMO, part hunting-game combat system delivers some depth and interesting twists. Of course, is way better when enjoyed with coop.

WWE 2K24 does not reinvent the wheel, but expands both the match pool of the last chapter and the possibilities of the combat system, which continues to work well despite some historical rough edges. The Showcase mode has some imperfections, but it's a pearl for any WrestleMania fan and the two My Rise careers aren't bad at all either. If we add to this the many small innovations in practically every dimension of the experience, which is based on valid but not exciting technological solutions, the reasons that made us appreciate this year's edition appear even more evident. The Visual Concepts title is a great wrestling playground, with a disproportionate number of wrestlers and a keen eye for local multiplayer, and represents a solid foundation on which to build the future of the franchise.

The Rogue Prince of Persia raises the bar for the saga, offering a good, straightforward roguelite with an unmistakable style. Its simplicity will make some people love it, while others will hate it, but there's no denying how much love the small team at Evil Empire has poured into one of the most celebrated video game icons of all time. The gameplay is fun, despite its modest offerings, while the art is completely convincing. It's undoubtedly yet another title that demonstrates Ubisoft's ability to still excel when it chooses to focus on smaller projects, giving developers the freedom to express their creative flair.

Conceived as a smaller spin-off and also sold at a budget price, Like A Dragon Gaiden The Man Who Erased His Name proves to be another solid addition to the historic Yakuza series. Taking on the role of Kazuma Kiryu again is a pleasure thanks also to the original "Agent" fighting style, and the work is abundant enough in content to provide healthy entertainment for quite a long time. What shines above all is the story, which is shorter but therefore also more intense and which gets straight to the point, providing memorable moments and developments full of twists and turns as per the brand's tradition. Of course, it doesn't have any particular ambition and simply follows the safe path already followed by the most recent episodes, and the Dragon Engine is starting to feel the weight of the years a bit, however Like A Dragon Gaiden has achieved its goal: reintroducing Kiryu among the protagonists and prepare the way for the long-awaited Like A Dragon Infinite Wealth. Mission accomplished.

If the old-style gameplay and a little rust on the narrative devices does not scare you, Modern Warfare Remastered could be a good alternative to the most reknowned shooter of this year, hiding behind a decade of history a fun and quick gameplay.

Fifteen years after the dazzling debut of Donkey Kong Country Returns on Wii, the platformer by Retro Studios returns to Nintendo Switch in a remastered edition. While in terms of content, Donkey Kong Country Returns HD simply brings together in one place what was offered by the original and the subsequent porting for 3DS, the graphical update is impressive, with DK Island showing off a renewed richness of color. With a high-profile level design and a world overflowing with secrets, Donkey Kong Country Returns HD presents Nintendo Switch owners with a platformer beloved by fans and critics alike, capable of standing the test of time with flying colors.

Deadbolt is a small action game that can be extremely funny. The gunfight tension is worth more than the gunfight itself: a fundamental rule in cinema that Hopoo Games perfectly applied to its videogame.

Company of Heroes 3 is certainly a solid production, whose path follows the path left by its two predecessors without particular deviations. But it's not a big problem that the gameplay has remained substantially unchanged, because that mixture between classic strategy (in greater doses) and simulation continues to work, offering a delicious depth that never leads to more rigorous complexity. The dynamic campaign is the most welcome novelty, and although it is not comparable in terms of richness of options to other congeners or to the 4X, it is an introduction to be fully appreciated. In short, Relic Entertainment's game will not be the bravest of the RTS, but it offers an experience of undeniable quality.

Gameplay might be repetitive at times, and the combat system is not bright or innovative as we hoped. Still, the Oros region is just wonderful, and halfway through the game the evolution of the character and of the villages really starts clicking in.

On Ps4, Joe Dever's Lone Wolf hasn't essentially changed from its PC version: story and style are just as solid as before. The graphics reveal the mobile origins of the game; furthermore, the game becomes less spontaneous by using a pad. However, Joe Dever's Lone Wolf sticks to its essence and still can intrigue many of those who are looking for a peculiar RPG.

Green light for the new Batman: Arkham Shadow, a title that keeps its promises by bringing one of the most popular franchises in the traditional video game landscape to Meta viewers. Our experience with Meta Quest 3 was fun and at times very satisfying, with a dynamic and lively combat system and stimulating gameplay even in the more static phases of investigations or the study of areas to be tackled stealthily. The graphics department is good, but the high ambitions of the development team must clash with limited hardware for the standalone execution of a game of this kind. The test is generally good with some stumbles, for one of the best VR games of the year.

In its coming and going of pop quotes and inspirations, Extra Coin flows for a variable number of hours. How many minutes will we spend in the minigames? How long will it take us to overturn the rules and discover the truth? How much of our life will we sacrifice to the loops? At least 4 hours, little but sure. And in this span of time the narration and gameplay, with their qualitative oscillations, will ensnare us in a world that is certainly not very original, yet constructed in a way that is anything but superficial. Extra Coin is a well-conceived work, as well as created with full awareness of the means available. CINIC Games balances resources and ambitions, purposes and possibilities, without biting off more than we can chew. This is also demonstrated by the price (5 euros) at which the game is sold. Also for this reason, it is worth playing The Arcade.

Little Nightmares 3 is a heartfelt installment that respects the legacy inherited from Tarsier, which Supermassive has embraced with skill and without the intention of overturning established mechanics, rhythms, and situations that still work very well. We would have liked to see some camera issues fixed, just as we would have appreciated more creative solutions for the puzzles, given that the ones present (in the final location in particular...) are truly interesting. The co-op mode is a great fit, and we regret the absence of local co-op. With its light and shadows, Little Nightmares is always Little Nightmares. It's scary, it makes you think, it creates a dense and sticky tension that spans the most disparate horror genres and plays with phobias, sounds, and images—in short, with all the most typical tools of fright. And we can't wait to learn more by exploring the two DLCs already planned.

Fate/Samurai Remnant surprised us. The stories of the swordsman Iori and the cryptic Saber struggling with the Waxing Moon Ritual are entertaining on both a playful and narrative level. Remnant is not satisfied with being "just" a product for fans, even if there would have been nothing wrong with it, on the contrary. The more experienced will have a world of details to discover in the maps, and familiar characters to meet again. Samurai Remnant carefully chooses the key elements of the saga to borrow, motivates them and explains them to novices in understandable terms. The title is therefore first and foremost a lively anime-style action video game, perhaps just a little too diluted at times, with a mysterious plot that branches into multiple endings, charismatic protagonists and an excellent artistic sector. For this reason we are almost sure that, once the adventure is over, many will want to deepen the links with the long-lived and tangled history of which it is part.
