The Sims 3: Pets is an excellent title also on consoles. Unfortunately a not very user-friendly interface and many loading screens dirty work otherwise flawless.

Deliver Us Mars is a strongly story-driven adventure, which places great emphasis on the touching narrative sector, capable of making the player think continuously, and on the exploration of a planet full of mysteries: climbing the rocky walls of Mars works but it is the variety in terms of environmental puzzles to be lacking. The visual presentation is solid and, net of some imperfections and some drop in frame rate, embellishes this journey certainly suitable for lovers of the reference genre.

Deliver at all Costs, the debut on the scene of the Swedish Far Out Games, presents itself as a solid experience, capable of combining a gameplay aimed at the purest action, a notable environmental destructibility and retro setting with a good dose of originality, all clear indications of the crystalline talent of the newborn development company from Gothenburg. Thanks also to a convincing writing of the story and its characters, it is a title that, despite some limitations, deserves attention, especially considering the price at which it is proposed (we are talking about €29.99 on PC, Xbox and PlayStation). The only regret is for some naivety on the structural and content level that do not allow it to aspire to the qualitative heights it would have deserved.

Ninja Gaiden 4 emerges as a meeting point between Team Ninja's development philosophy, which led to the series' dazzling rebirth as a hardcore action game, and that of PlatinumGames, which, over the years, has become a true pillar of the genre. The combat system is still incredibly fun and at times exhilarating, and the new features introduced to the game world allow for a more satisfying progression than in the past. Given these premises, however, it's truly a shame that the same effort hasn't been put into the narrative, which unfortunately fails to capitalize on the excellent premise of the plot and ends up being a formulaic and lackluster tale. After over a decade of absence from the scene and given the names involved in the project, it was reasonable to expect a production effort of a different caliber.

Rich in lore and full of interesting characters, the world of Shattered Heaven pushes the player to explore it, net of an overwhelming amount of information at times, which is a bit heavy especially in the second part of the adventure. The excellent artistic direction and the multifaceted combat system, thanks to the guessed card game structure, manage to keep the pleasantness of the experience high, net of some balancing problems, clearly evident especially during the boss fights. In any case, the title developed by Leonardo Production offers an interesting mix of playful elements, which fans of role-playing adventures with cards in hand should not underestimate.

We are faced with a desecrating and violent work, often at the limits of the grotesque, a fun interactive b-movie full of action and dismemberments. Very enjoyable if played in company, Rebellion's new work, however, struggles to be appreciated in equal measure even by lone players, who could soon be removed from a repetitiveness at times really difficult to accept without that injection of extra enjoyment deriving from the strategic implications typical of multiplayer games.

It's a rough-around-the-edges survival experience, so don't expect anything too polished or shiny. The setting is just right, and that's what can make the experience really interesting.

Kingdoms of Amalur looks like an arcade version of Skyrim, packed with the visual style of World of Warcraft and an action combat system. The Destiny system is not enough to craft an immersive and unique experience, and, from the beginning to the end, Reckoning lacks in identity and originality.

Halo Wars is greatly linked to the Halo Universe, and for this reason the plot, the character and the unit design are great. But despite this fidelity and a control scheme perfectly functional (the best ever designed for a console RTS), Halo Wars Experience is not that deep, strategically speaking. The enemy routines and the possible attack patterns are too simple, and the game looks like a “tactical hack’n’slash”. So, the game is suitable for those who seek immediacy and “vulgar strategy”, but it may be too simple and linear for the old RTS lovers.

Bit. Trip Runner is an extremely particular product, more an audio-visual experience than just a simple game. It's surely fun, but sometimes hampered by faulty gameplay choices, based on trial and error mechanics. A game not for everyone, but surely interesting.

Gord is a fascinating product, both thanks to its imagination and thanks to the playful elements that characterize it. What initially might appear as a rather basic real-time strategy game is actually a sort of colony simulator, which calls for you to face adverse events decisively and to use the available resources wisely. The leading role reserved for micromanagement could be very intriguing for those more accustomed to the genre, less so for newbies. Gord can be exhausting at times, but he certainly offers a unique experience.

Arcade Paradise is practically a matryoshka, because inside a superstructure of managerial inspiration it puts many different experiences, both on the playful and purely artistic front. He does it in a convincing way, also thanks to his ability to know how to wink at long-time players and the many small tributes to the 90s. The problem, however, is that this superstructure becomes almost negligible after a few hours, because it lacks significant novelties and interesting variables. In any case, if you are nostalgic for arcades and want to spend time in a laundry full of virtual worlds, give Arcade Paradise a peaceful chance.

Despite the frenetic action combat system and the exquisite tactical component represented by the introduction of the cute Cioffi, already in 2018 Ni no Kuni 2: The Destiny of a Kingdom could not fully convince us, due to a cloying and excessively childish story , which among other things entrusted downloadable content with the fundamental task of answering the most interesting questions that remained pending. Including both the base game and its DLCs, the Switch version has at least partially remedied the "shortcomings" of the original version, the only pity that on the hybrid the product is affected by technical problems that are difficult to ignore. Ultimately, the future of the kingdom continues to look anything but rosy.

In adapting the soulslike formula that made them so successful with the two Blasphemous titles, the guys at The Game Kitchen have demonstrated a full understanding of what it means to develop a 2D Ninja Gaiden: their Ragebound is a game to be enjoyed at full speed, seamlessly alternating between attacks to cleave through enemy hordes and the precise leaps required by demanding platforming. The excellent momentum of the initial episodes is unfortunately lost in a repetitiveness caused by a lack of variation, while the few missions available leave the title's longevity dependent on the individual player's desire to obtain the highest ratings in each mission. Like the gameplay, the level design quickly ceases to surprise, falling back on the genre's well-known leitmotifs without ever adapting to the diverse scenarios showcased by an otherwise inspired art style, which boasts contemporary 2D graphics and a soundtrack that is decidedly suited to the frenetic nature of the gameplay.
