Sonic CD was a great game in 1993. Today we can't put two hands in front of our eyes and ignore its flaws. Sega does a great job in mantaining the same old running atmosphere, but are we sure that it can still give to a 2011 user what he wants?

Junk Jack is the most near example of Terraria porting with Minecraft crafting system. But its major flaw it's the fact that it does run on a 3,5'' screen, which make you feel disoriented and limited. It's a pity, because its crafting system is great and it could guarantee a long life to itself.

Proposed as an encounter between Ikaruga and Prince of Persia, Outland disappoints most of the expectations. The excellent graphics package, the opposition between light and shade, isn't enough to hide a gameplay often understated. Outland conflicts with a level design unable to enhance the gameplay. A good fighting system and memorable boss battles help a little.

Little Goody Two Shoes is a work that alternates elements of absolute merit with others that are less successful. Greater attention to the adventure, survival and dating sim components would undoubtedly have benefited by offering a more complete and satisfying experience. It's unfortunate that the developers of AstralShift didn't dedicate the same attention to them as they did in the delightful artistic profile of the title.

When the credits rolled, the writer immediately thought: if I had a daughter or a son, I would recommend them to play The Plucky Squire with me. While not a brilliant production in every aspect, we are faced with a title aware of its potential, and for this very reason it wisely decides to focus on what it does best. The 3D sections, undoubtedly the weakest of the game, seem almost disfigured when compared to the 2D ones; a real shame, especially if we consider their playful potential.

Assassin's Creed Shadows marks the continuation, and perhaps the end, of the cycle that began with Origins. However, the episode set in Japan also represents the downward spiral, in terms of quality of some components of the gameplay and content offering, of a structural model that is starting to feel the weight of the years. Shadows is a game that wants to please everyone and that does everything more or less well, but without truly excelling in anything, and - unfortunately - without leaving its mark. The epic of shinobi and samurai leaves open several glimmers of hope for the future. But we hope that, both with DLC tied to the story of Naoe and Yasuke and with the next episodes, the saga can truly start again, rediscovering the ability to amaze us.

Cyber Shadow is a good product overall, and a decent debut for Mechanical Head's young Finns; a two-dimensional action that pays dignified homage to a game formula capable of still carving out an important space in today's videogame panorama. Its distinctly hardcore nature and amarcord vein make it a title probably unappetizing to a majority audience, certainly pleasant for lovers of old action-platform arcade experiences on the edge of game over. Too bad for the absence of that ludo-stylistic flicker capable of making it emerge, as well as its questionable rush to a truly unnecessary excess.

On the one hand it is nice to see how the gameplay offered by Company of Heroes Collection is still appreciable despite the many years that have passed, thanks to the substantial and varied campaigns within the production. On the other hand, however, to be fully convincing nowadays, the experience would have needed to be based on an engaging scenic system, capable of transmitting the power of the battles to the player. For purely age reasons, this power is rather reduced in Company of Heroes Collection.

The aesthetic richness and narrative complexity of the universe forged by Games Workshop have transformed what could risk being a "more of the same" experience so familiar but with peculiarities capable of satisfying veterans of strategists. The attention paid by the development team to create environments full of details, from the architecture of the buildings to the style of the infrastructures, competes only with the minutiae that adorn the armor of our knights or the horrifying monstrosities present on the battlefield. The presence of typical elements of XCOM in Daemonhunters should not be seen as a defect but as a basis on which Complex Games has placed an interesting but not perfect mix between new mechanics and more consolidated elements. It is a pity, however, that the numerical gap between knights and demons has negatively affected the pleasantness of the playful mixture, which in specific missions did not manage to shine as we hoped.

The real issue lies in the way the adventure's time has been managed, with the first half containing its most visually and gameplay-wise brilliance. Unfortunately, just when it decides to mix things up, Double Fine's work suffers a dip in quality that's hard to ignore. Even if it's followed by a more successful and genuinely refreshing final section, it still makes a significant impact on a four-hour experience. If you're looking for a relaxing game that's not short on inexplicable creatures and fascinating scenarios—and this is even more true if you have a young player to keep you company—then give Keeper a chance. The joy of completely destroying the settings, starting from their smallest elements, remains intact, and it's impossible not to be won over by the nonsensical madness of a video game that never takes itself seriously. Yet it was reasonable to expect some substantial additions to a gameplay formula that, while still unassailable, dates back to distant 2004. Bandai Namco has thus played to the nostalgia factor without taking the risk of modernizing its intellectual property, giving longtime fans another chance to roll their Katamari, but without offering any convincing glimpses into the future of the series.
