Can't get enough of LEGO games even after tons of "blocky" Star Wars, Indies, Sparrows and Dark Knights? Well, The Lord of the Rings will be your most "precious" game for the holiday season.

A really well done game, with very rich and deep gameplay. The enormous battles, the good graphics and the rewarding mechanics make this game a must have. It costs nothing and the freemium model is not pushy like in some other titles, letting the game be satisfying per se. Planetside 2 may initially be a little difficult and will scare some players, but if you stick with it, you'll be rewarded.

The Aftermath DLC is a good extra content pack for Battlefield 3. Two maps out of 4 are really awesome, while the others are quite standard. The Scavanger Mode is too fast and chaotic, but could be useful to change something of the usual gameplay.

With Guardians of Middle Earth, Monolith's purpose was to bring the MOBA genre to the console audience, trying to adapt the mouse & keyboard gameplay to the gamepad without sacrificing too much. Mission accomplished, since GoME really brings the MOBA spirit to console, but the lack of game modes and the few maps will bore you in short order.

The Wii U version of Assassin's Creed III is still great, but the lack of cool features for the new GamePad has to be noticed. A number of frame rate issues and some bugs are enough to judge this version of ACIII the less impressive out there.

Two new huge continents, four new souls and a ton of new quests will bring us back to Telara to fight against the new threat. Are we ready for Storm Legion?

Sonic once again tries to race against Mario with this fun and interesting kart game. Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed comes very close to his rival, thanks to a cartoonish graphical style, an astounding gameplay and some brilliant ideas. Unfortunately some minor issues slow the game down.

While licensed games seem to grow in popularity and quality, there are still titles that didn't even try to improve themselves. Family Guy: Back to the Multiverse is one of these games. Despite the fact that the game uses the fame of the cartoon series, it is just a collage of levels, most of which are just colorless copies of the situations we used to see in the TV series. Too bad for the Griffin family, they deserved a better game than this one.

Mass Effect 3 for the Wii U is exactly the masterpiece that we experienced on the other systems, plus some welcome new GamePad features. If there were a way to import the saved games from the previous chapters, this would have been our preferred console version.

Warriors Orochi 3 Hyper keeps the usual good and bad features from the never ending Musou series, but is plagued by a terrible implementation. Even many months and a console later from the original release, this version is sadly the worst of the pack.

The latest entry in the endless Mario series is hardly "new" in concept, but doesn't fail to entertain and to represent yet another excellent platformer.

Marvel Avengers: Battle for Earth is a "Kinect addicted" game. The good use of the vocal commands is pretty interesting and could be really hilarious with few friends gathered into the same room. Pity for the short length and the too-easy difficulty level.

While the Rayman series is still one of the most interesting in the Ubisoft portfolio, we can't say the same for the Rabbids, which have become silly, hysterical and boring. Despite the attempts to elevate the series, the Rabbids are becoming just one of the many minigames collections available.

Midway Arcade Origins is a nice compilation of good old classics, but the lack of pretty important games (Paperboy?) is a shame. The collection is still interesting for Midway's fans, due to the presence of great old arcade machines into the disc.

Epic Mickey 2 doesn't live up to the enormous Disney's legacy and atmospheres. The game simply doesn't have enough points of interest to keep the player attracted until the end of the game.

In this Ubisoft launch title for the Wii U, some very good ideas are sadly spoiled by poor action and an average technical execution. ZombiU is still worth a try though, if you really are into the Survival Horror genre.

Until now we've got plenty of HD collection, remake and reboot, but it's still a good thing that sometimes an old masterpiece comes back for the sake of gamers. This is the case for Zone of the Enders: HD Collection, a good game which again presents one of the best sagas of the last console generation. Unfortunately there is not much to play for for those who bought the original game, but the games themselves are worth the cost.

Far Cry 3 is an exceptional FPS with fun mechanics and excellent characterization. Unfortunately it wastes a fair number of opportunities offered by its huge open-world background. Plus, the secondary activities are not as fun as they could have been, and the island is too extensive to be interesting in the long run. Anyway, this game has surprised us.

Spy Hunter is a classic, old game from the past that is now at its second reboot. It's a shame that the developers didn't even try to improve this portable version of the game. Even if the gameplay it's not that bad, it's the lack of attention to details that is missing from this game.

Nintendo Land is something that goes beyond the simple teaching of the new features of the console and the controller. It makes you want to go on with the next attraction. It's a title that will give you much more than just one night with friends, in fact, you'll probably enjoy it better on your own. Too bad for some recycled mechanics and for some attractions less successful than others.

PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale is a genuine clone of the Super Smash Bros. franchise. Sony did a great job creating something pretty similar to the original Nintendo experience. The lack of Nintendo characters, anyway, is probably the most important issue of this great game.

Hitman: Absolution is not a masterpiece, a game without flaws, but is still one of the greatest stealth games of the year, an excellent mixture of the classic Hitman formula plus brand new mechanics. And the Contracts Mode is really funny, especially for the hardcore fans who need a higher level of challenge.
