The Bridge is also relatively short, but at the same time it doesn't outstay its welcome. It's for the most part enjoyable while it lasts, and provides a decent thought-provoking time.

To the game's credit, there is a nice adrenaline ability that briefly puts the action into slow-motion for easier shooting. Unfortunately, that ability was not attached to a better game. Rather than a fun tie-in with the action flick, the game becomes a literal interpretation of its name and dies. Hard.

Rock Runners takes several levels to really get challenging, but once it hits its stride it can be a fantastic speedy platformer.

Oddland has a solid idea behind its take on mobile fist-person shooters, but control difficulties with reloading make the duels more frustrating than fun. Shaking the device is never a great control option, and even less so when under fire.

As a standalone episode, 'Tyranny of King Washington: Part One' falls a little short of expectations. In particular, the missions feel overly familiar, while the new ability is an extension of the already well developed stealth system.

Crysis 3 is one of those games that could have pulled in full marks if only a bit more time was devoted to development and testing...The bugs and design mishaps that have got through do not completely ruin the experience, but they take the shine off what could have been a truly brilliant game.

A hugely enjoyable hack and slash title, with an incredibly satisfying combat system, memorable boss battles and an entertaining narrative.

The enhanced visuals and local and online co-operative multiplayer are welcome additions, but everything else feels a little bit outdated, with a distinct lack of variety in enemies and objectives in particular making the levels bland and monotonous by today's standards.

Be Together is a fun, average mobile puzzle game, but there isn't really a shortage of those on iOS lately.

It is really little more than a demo though, albeit a clever one.

The controls can be rather twitchy, as aiming feels far too fast at times, but that is actually fairly accurate to the original feel of the game.

Roar Rampage is a mindless game in the best sort of way. It brings fun destructive action to your fingertips with a whimsical sense of humor.

This would be fine if much of the action was not just so vanilla. This is a solid shooter, but not the game that Aliens fans had long hoped for.

Unfortunately, playing solo is not that fun. Without friends, you're supported in your party by bots, who are mindless and quite incompetent. It becomes even more challenging to get through levels, and without the aspect of teamwork, the whole experience is just dull and not very enjoyable.

Proteus is very much a niche title. Without any real objective or storytelling hook, the open-ended nature will no doubt bore some. That said, its attempts at emergent gameplay are commendable and worth experiencing if this type of game appeals to you.

The main slight against Antichamber is its personality, or lack of. It's visually interesting but also feels atmospherically empty and austere. If you can embrace that, though, and you have enough patience to crack the obstacles in your way, there may not be a puzzle game this year more rewarding as this one.

For all the game's perceived flaws, you can't fault the development team for trying to give players more bang for their buck, something which is successfully achieved.

The enemy AI is deviously smart, and will not hesitate to take advantage of every trick you can think of and more. That also only means it is all the more satisfying when you finally learn to outsmart it, making Skulls of the Shogun a must for all hardcore armchair generals.

Corpse Party: Book of Shadows has its moments from a storytelling perspective, but it would have benefited from more interactive features. There's some morbidly creative horror for readers to sink their fangs into, but don't expect to encounter any believable characters or award-winning wordsmithery.

Littered throughout the whole game are collectible hats, which completionists will appreciate, but ultimately, the controls in No Time to Explain are too imprecise and drag down the experience too much.

Other than that, Picross e2 is the same 2D Picross you've known with a new coating of paint. The eShop title is, as you'd expect, not the best version of Picross out there (some might pine for the return of the 'create your own puzzle' feature), but for a significant number of puzzles at that price, Picross e2 comes recommended.

The game feels short, but that's more because of enjoying the puzzles and wanting more to play than because of a lack of content.

The main story mode is broken up into 36 stages, each against a set number of enemy waves. Two bonus modes offer additional diversions, with Assault pitting players against an infinite number of enemies, while Endless mode removes attacking completely to make it a pure puzzle game. Both are satisfying for their own charms, and will keep players coming back long after the story missions are over.

While puzzles are almost non-existent, that's fine since the momentum of the adventure isn't interrupted. It's also only an hour long, and at this stage after just one act, it's tough to predict if the subsequent pay-off will be worth the initial investment.

Tokyo Crash Mobs should only really be considered by 3DS owners who dig the look of the game and are Puzz Loop fanatics. Everyone else should look elsewhere - there are plenty of superior puzzlers in the eShop.

That said, the iOS version is superior for the simple fact that the mouse controls on the computer are more fiddly. We recommend that you try out 10,000,000, but if you have an iOS device, playing with the touch screen is the way to go.
