If you enjoyed any part of the previous inFamous games, there is enough in First Light for you to enjoy that makes its purchase a no brainer.

It may not be perfect, it may not even be ‘worth’ the launch price, but it IS something most definitely worth playing.

Phantom Breaker: Battle Grounds is a reasonably priced title that is good for pick up and play sessions.

In short, Sword Art Online: Hollow Fragment is a fun disappointment.

While I applaud Metrico for using the Vita’s various tools, it is a game I might not be fully comfortable playing at a park bench or bus ride. I can only imagine the puzzled looks I get as people see me twist the handheld in different directions. And when the game requires the camera, I had better be in an area with a good light source.

The content addition felt solid, although I would have appreciated either of the two challenge paths to have been made a bit longer, since they are basically two rooms full of enemies leading into a boss, unless you decide to explore to pick up a few non-essential items; they didn’t feel as rewarding as the main path in my opinion.

Basically, Cube Tactics isn’t a great tactics game. Instead it wants to be a puzzle game, but if that’s the case, it’s a pretty bad puzzle game as well.

I know games like this take a lot of work from creators with a very small budget, but sometimes, an idea just isn’t that great.

Hohokum is a pleasantly strange break from reality. It’s filled with color, personality and charm, and if you can overlook the lack of game-like structure to find your own way in the game’s psychedelic world, you’ll find a satisfying meditative experience backed by precise controls.

As good as this fairy tale themed game seemed to be, Road Not Taken didn’t feel quite right.

Entertaining, engaging and enveloping; once Five Nights at Freddy’s clasps its paws around you, it will be hard to let go.

Three years in the making, Mind: Path to Thalamus is a valiant effort on the part of Carlos Coronado. There are moments that impress, but the parts all add up to a mediocre story shoe-horned into a mediocre first person puzzler. I encourage the development team to keep it up, but I can’t really recommend this one as a must see.

In the end, the experience Firefall offers is one that’s almost there. It’s almost a fully engaging, entertaining shooter. It almost tells a fairly good story. Its systems almost feel worth the time, or money, you would put into seeing them through to their end. It’s almost there, but in the end, Firefall falls short.

Fans of One Piece will find that Unlimited World Red does a pretty good job at staying true to the source material, but those unfamiliar with the story and characters will find it difficult to follow along. The combat is pretty fun early on, but it doesn’t evolve enough to keep things interesting.

The command system is not perfect and can feel slightly convoluted to utilize at times, and the tedium of solving cryptic puzzle after puzzle may wear down the patience of most players, yet despite these shortcomings, Shadowgate still remains a stimulating adventure, for both veterans of the and newcomers to the series.

Rime Berta IS childish and it certainly IS an inferior copy of what tactic RPG players know and love, and I MIGHT be sounding overly misogynistic with this review, but know that if you want a simple adventure with slow-paced tactics battles and you don’t care about a good story, you might find a place in your heart for this unpolished gem.

And in the end, that’s really what it all comes down to. Counterspy succeeds because it takes a concept that everyone is familiar with, and delivers something a bit unexpected in its ability to capitalize on those familiar aspects.

The game is full of charm and little references that made me smile. From finishing a level and the leader saying “Controlling makes me feel good” a reference to the Ghostbuster’s song of the 80s. To potential employee names like “Mr. B” and “Bill Venkman,” It’s a game brimming with good fun. Pardon the pun.

In a normal year, this game would still be an easy one to recommend, but with 2014 being the strongest year for RPGs in at least a decade, there is a lot of competition. It might not be one to set aside time for immediately, but it might be one worth revisiting later once you have a lot of time available to put into it.

Seeing as how I was one of those few that loved dialogue scenes in other games, I really enjoyed this title. My only real gripe was how most of them end rather abruptly (one time, I moved on before I was ready and missed out on doing some side events) and one character didn’t get revisited like the others.

Unsatisfying, under-developed gameplay mechanics and a ridiculously short length, Light is anything but the name suggests.
