The beauty of The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword is that it extracts the key core elements that make the series so impressive in the first place and brings along a large does of familiarity, but then goes on to mix in a whole host of newly-styled dungeons, brand new puzzles that appeal to a broad audience, as well as superb 1:1 sword control that actually needs to be mastered for progression rather than being added as a gimmick or just for show and a twist on the normal storyline.

Captain America: Super Soldier for 3DS could be a decent game were it not for the graphical glitches, slowdown and frustration caused by potentially game breaking instances.

When it differentiates itself Disney Universe comes across well, but the problem is that it just doesn't happen enough. The gameplay is clearly derived from the LEGO titles, while costume presentation comes from LittleBigPlanet, all given a Disney coat of paint.

Rune Factory 3 definitely shares many similarities with its Harvest Moon heritage, but successfully branches out into a highly engaging action RPG that stands in good stead when compared to other role-playing efforts on Nintendo DS thanks to its enjoyable battle mechanic, variety of objectives and the above average storyline.

Super Mario 3D Land excels in so many areas, picking up the traditional 2D side-scrolling feel of the classic NES and SNES platform outings, whilst sprinkling in a pleasing dose of the 3D charm that made Super Mario Galaxy 2 so special.

Kirby's Adventure Wii is a resounding success in every single area.

Fans of Tetris will be over the moon with this latest version, with it bringing back the classic mode that every knows and loves, as well as other popular takes on the theme that have proven to be widely accepted by loyal gamers.

Harvest Moon: Grand Bazaar continues to experiment with the franchise, in part for the better. The addition of the market brings a new element to the series and the core farming entertains and addicts as ever, but what lets it down is the lack of town activity. Without an invigorating community environment, though, Grand Bazaar doesn't quite reach the heights that it should.

The Spectre's Call is definitely the second best out of the four entries in the Professor Layton series so far, though, and a fantastic treat just in time for the holiday period.

Just Dance 3 is another solid effort from Ubisoft - simple, fun and accessible, offering a varied song selection, different difficulty levels and all sorts of bright, interesting routines to try and accomplish.

WayForward take advantage of capitalising on all of DS' limitations and have created a title that has genuine affection and impact.

All in all, Sakura Wars: So Long, My Love is a worthy addition to Wii's library.

V5 Play has delivered a superb mix of differing puzzle styles, drawing from logic conundrums, rhythm-based efforts and even hidden object games to add a heap of variety, whilst also crafting a story that is laced with intrigue and dark humour at times, keeping the player's attention until the closing credits.

The Malgrave Incident is not only the best in the seek-and-find genre on Wii, but one of the best on the market in general.

As a movie tie-in it is a surprisingly well-polished title, but as a video game experience it lacks that spark and direction to take it further.

Princess Isabella: Witch's Curse is a triumphant PC puzzle adventure that has been faithfully transposed onto the smaller Nintendo DS with barely any downgrading in terms of sound and visuals, and nothing missing on the gameplay and content front.

It may not be as updated as some may have liked, but that certainly does not prevent Nintendo from having another top quality game on 3DS now.

The first Mystery Stories was rather disappointing overall, not living up to the standards of previous PC entries. Sadly, this follow-up is only marginally better, yet scores lower due to other developers bringing out far better hidden object games on DS. Mystery Stories: Curse of the Ancient Spirits simply cannot match others on the DS scene nowadays.

Jewel Time Deluxe has made a successful transition from PC to Nintendo DS, yet its general lack of extra polish it fades in comparison to other releases in the genre. With six modes to play through, Gusto Games' Match-3 puzzle effort is definitely one that will give fans of this style enough to sink their teeth into.

Jewels of the Ages proves to be one of, if not the best Match 3 release on Nintendo DS so far.

A few average games, a terribly broken one thankfully do not kill this, with Wii Play: Motion still well worth a look, and is definitely miles better than the original Wii Play.

Now Monolith Soft's grand Xenoblade Chronicles has arrived, bringing with it an sterling soundtrack, a phenomenal visual impact, vast amount of customisation, intriguing story and massive value for money.

National Geographical Challenge! may not be one of Wii's most notable games, but should you enjoy quizzes it is another game to add to the list for multiplayer sessions on Nintendo's machine. For the many, there is much, but for the solo, there is little.

It's very easy for a critic to say "fans of X will enjoy X", but the phrase absolutely applies here. If you've no interest in Les Stroumpfs then there's nothing for you here, but if you enjoyed the movie and would like a dancing game based upon it, then you could do far worse than Ubisoft's latest money maker.

Bermuda Triangle's ecological message distances it from other puzzle games, and the gameplay itself stands strong initially, but ultimately with a glaring lack of content and features that would have been justifiable had it been a downloadable DSiWare or eShop title, the game is hard to recommend to anyone except beginners at a discount price.

The very fact that Nintendo went out of its way to pick up this Third Party game and market it in PAL territories should be enough evidence of how incredible Solatorobo: Red the Hunter is.

Hidden Mysteries: Salem Secrets, Witch Trials of 1692 is a fantastic example of how PC adventure games can be translated across to the Nintendo DS without any real loss in detail or quality. Filled to the brim with an intriguing storyline, plenty of brain-teasing mini-games, enjoyable free-roaming gameplay and hidden object puzzles, this is definitely one for fans of the genre to add to their shopping list.
