Enjoyment will differ from person to person, but for anyone who has an appreciation for NIS and their work, you’ll more than likely find The Witch and the Hundred Knight deserving of the shelf or hard drive space.

The world design is imaginative and visually impressive, there is a strong narrative if you wish to learn about it and the gameplay feels fun and addictive.

It might not be as disturbing or interactive as I expected, but Kholat really does deliver something special in terms of visual and sound design. Despite it’s imperfections it definitely deserves credit and I really did enjoy my experience with this title.

A fantastic little twin stick shooter, that is well designed, full of character and has some good variation. The characters you play as feel unique and varied as well as the enemies you face. Boss battles mix gameplay up and offer some challenging moments. I appreciated the extra modes and ranking at the end of each stage.

The fact that the entire game is made in clay is a feat in itself. It just adds a new depth to the visuals. Just having more variety in terms of gameplay and content would have pushed it over the top. At the end of the day Plastilands is an entertaining game that is worth a look.

It’s been a while since a small-scale indie game has knocked me off my feet in the same way Siralim has.

Fans of the 1997 classic will love the respect that Just Add Water has shown to their cult favourite and newcomers will get their first taste of Oddworld, a special series of games which could never be replicated or replaced.

Action Henk may lack the visual appeal of the games it aspires to be, but underneath is a surprisingly addictive experience that certainly extends the life of the simple idea it has been built upon. Featuring some decent platforming physics and an inviting world to explore, your frustration will come and go in frequent measures as you mutter to yourself “Just one more go” time and time again.

It is not a terrible experience in any way shape or form, but it is an experience that you will come to tire from a bit too quickly for the money you will pay.

From the eyes of a consumer I can say that this is a wonderful re-telling of a family’s bravery and strength. That Dragon, Cancer tries its best to represent such a difficult subject in an approachable manner that’s neither inappropriately light-hearted, nor depressing, and they do a good job with it.

Brunswick Pro Bowling is hard to judge. In a lot of ways it reminds me of real bowling. It’s good, but not great. You will have fun but it does get old.

If you’re looking for a fun and chaotic game to play with friends or online, you’ve found the one. It’s fast-paced, it’s intense and it’s a lot of fun to get stuck into. While £11.99 might seem like a steep price for the game, I guarantee you won’t be disappointed.

American Truck Simulator is as hard-core as a truck simulator gets.

I’ve beaten a crab with a stick, watched a man spear a wolf to death, been murdered by melted bat people, and met an invisible king who saved me when I was attacked by a 4ft medieval Eddie Guerrero. When will you ever say something like that happened to you irl (if you beat crabs with sticks, as a Marine Biology major I’m ashamed of you)?

But for all it’s faults, Satellite Reign might still be worth exploring as a mechanical experience if you can handle some rough edges and make your own narrative.

The game falls short in a number of areas that makes it unapproachable, especially in 2016. No character differentiation, the lack of arenas, the frustrating gameplay, inconsistency of AI and the unheard of lack of online for a car game makes this game feel incomplete. After about three hours you may never pick this game up again, unless you have a game night with friends.

Downfall is self-aware and does exactly what it intends to do: provide a psychological thrill ride.

I was really impressed with this game. The gameplay and design are simple, well thought out and has good pacing. The world changes as you progress and I found the world truly absorbing in interesting to explore.

When the various elements come together, which does happen in certain sections and when fate allows, the game has the potential to be a clever, informative and historically accurate stealth game set among one of the most intriguing and fascinating in recent history, but too often this potential is over shadowed by clunky controls, questionable AI and dated graphics that make the game look like it is a port from a previous console generation.

I always felt myself smiling throughout my run with the game. At the same time I’m disappointed that there isn’t more episodes to play.

This game is interesting, challenging and about everything you can expect from a puzzle game. The puzzles are genuinely difficult, and for those puzzles too difficult then you can resort to hints.

Driveclub is a must-have for any PS4 racing fan. It’s ideal for anyone who enjoys a good arcade racer. It’s challenging, but teaches you how to overcome every single one. Because of this, Driveclub is far more rewarding than its peers. This coupled with fantastic graphical fidelity, impressive sound design, and adrenaline-inducing sense of speed makes Driveclub one of the best racing games available on current-gen systems.

I easily score this game 10/10, it is incredibly good and I’ve even stopped playing Street Fighter 5 and Far Cry Primal to sink more hours into this game because it’s easy to play, the only weak link is the person playing which is a horrible mix of frustration and pleasure as you strive to do better with each passing game.

With its fantastically charming 2D aesthetic, it’s likeable cast of characters and some surprisingly funny dialogue, Foul Play, despite the issues inherent to the genre, remains a very easy game to like.

Better Late Than Dead has some nice ideas, with a clever crafting system, interesting setting and plenty to discover and explore. I really enjoyed the use of environmental storytelling, which helps to give more insight and back story if you wish to find out more. The game does have its fair share of technical issues, like awkward camera angles, stuttering framerate and controlling your character can be frustrating, but as I said these are things that can be worked on and improved if the game receives some much-needed patches.

If The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess does nothing else, it is still a fresh reminder that even after a decade, there is nothing quite like Zelda.

Dino Run DX is a unique side-scroller that brings the simple 1980’s mechanics to modern 8-bit gaming. With such a huge range of content, customization, statistics and creativity from the developers, players will spend tens of hours escaping extinction as this prehistoric themed side-scroller delivers a unique game experience through solid mechanics, lasting content and 8-bit nostalgia.

There are so many technical barriers to enjoying this on the Wii U I unfortunately can’t recommend you playing it on Nintendo’s machine. It’s such a sloppy conversion with so many frustrations, you’re better off letting it rest in peace.

There is a lot to take in, but don’t let that scare you. If you put the time in, you will soon start to enjoy yourself.

When it comes down to it, the game is enjoyable, if you have a lot of pals willing to buy it too. Playing by yourself is not nearly as enjoyable in a game such as this.

The premise of Johnny’s Payday Panic seems monotonous on first look, nevertheless once you jump in, you’ll soon realise that work surprisingly can be fun.

Generally speaking, this is probably one of the better strategy games in this sort of time period you could get. There are a few flaws, and it’s certainly far from perfect, but even that helps to make the game endearing, and it’s just deep enough that it doesn’t get too dull too quickly. There’s a pretty much limitless amount of replayability, and there’s always something happening within the game, which helps to tide you over while you wait for the next major objective.

The game is set in an awesome world, that feels well designed, though out and full of interesting characters and narrative structure. This was a nice surprise considering the game is a fairly familiar top-down style shooter.

Taking an existing boardgame and adapting it for another franchise is difficult, but Nomad Games pulls it off well enough. Talisman: The Horus Heresy is a game best suited to Warhammer 40K fans for sure, but regular gamers wanting a fun boardgame experience on their PC could do a hell of a lot worse than this.

The ideas are great and switching between two characters with very different abilities is a nice touch. I would have like the game to have more of a story and possibly have some sort of character voice acting. Also the game can be hugely frustrating with awkward movement and controls.

The constant rewinding may grate for some, especially the later levels whilst the atmosphere doesn’t quite keep you involved as you progress but the sheer complexity of the platforming required is entirely engrossing.

I’m not sure if I’ll ever return to Breath of Fire III. While the story did intrigue me at times, there’s not much intrigue or wonder in the world and no real urgency in your quest. From the get-go you’re given a pair of ‘pals’ and you’re supposed to like and care about them, but I couldn’t care less.

With a variety of options to make the game more interesting, including the opportunity to change your character to pose new challenges; a daily challenge and the option to use different weapons and armour, this game really has that replayable factor we look for nowadays.

A childern’s book as is actually a good way of thinking about the game. Although playing it on its own will undoubtedly get boring after a while, Rainbow Moon is the perfect remedy for a burned out brain. It will always be there for you and will always be easy.

The somewhat clichéd plot, the inconsistent tone of the dialogue and the likeable, but ultimately forgettable cast do hold this game back from greatness, but despite these issues, Bravely Second: End Layer remains one of the finest JRPGs of the past decade and a welcome reminder of what can be achieved on the Nintendo 3DS’ ageing hardware.

The game has a certain charm to it that makes it so enjoyable to play, it expands on what the game was on NES but at the same time it is easier to get into the game for people who never played the original game.

Dungelot: Shattered Lands can be challenging but at the same time does a great job of sucking you in.

If you’re new to runners, maybe start with a cheap or free phone app like Temple Run, but if you’re a gamer who enjoys the fun of a runner, it’s definitely worth buying.

It has a strong narrative which I enjoyed, and there is lots to explore in terms of notes. The graphics look really good, and overall it was an interesting experience.

The Witness is a beacon of light in the puzzle/platformer genre. It separates itself form the crowd with a unique look and feel, and a no mercy difficulty.

Soul Axiom is an atmospheric experience that looks and sounds great. It’s a shame that the puzzles feel unoriginal and the world can feel a little sparse at times.

Like its predecessor, Crazy Climber 2 is likely to prove oddly addictive for those able to overcome the initially awkward control scheme and get past those inevitable moments of hair pulling frustration.

Overall this has been one of my favourite and most original gaming experiences in recent months. The game has taken the open world genre and given it a nice twist by taking place in 10,000 BCE. The world looks stunning, but at the same time it feels bleak and violent.

I thought this game was fantastic. An excellent twist on many features that we have seen in other games but overall changed and adapted for this game are just absolutely fantastic and to think its all made using RPG maker is another excellent feat within itself.

I wasn’t expecting this, but MegaSphere is currently one of my favourite games.

There are so many mechanics at play in DarkMaus, with layers upon layers of stats governing everything within its world and combat, that it really is a stunning achievement that one person could not only replicate the work of From Software, but create a new experience around it.

Dinocide is a strong recommendation for fans of nostalgia, platforming and dinosaurs. If the game goes on discount, it is worth the investment. However players will be left questioning whether the couple of hours of content is really worth the price of admission.

The art style is unique and I found that I wanted to keep on going, simply to find out what was going to happen. It wasn’t what I was expecting but I’m really glad that I stuck with it and experienced it. It would just have been nice to of had a little bit more input.

If you’re a Goosebumps mega fan or a point and click pioneer you might actually get some enjoyment out of Goosebumps: The Game. If you’re not a Goosebumps superfan, or find point and clicks tedious this is a hard pass.

The story is a little on the light side, but it makes up for it with intense battles and well designed environments. You will die a lot in this game, but ultimately it’s a satisfying experience.

The features you get with this version though are none that you would want to pay nine Euros for. It is overpriced and underimaginative (I know that’s not really a word, but it works so well here). If you buy this one, you might have fun, if you skip this one, you’re not missing out on anything.

Not the best title you’ll ever play, but certainly a long way from being the worst, and at £3.99 it is definitely worth testing your logic for a price that won’t seriously dent your wallet, or purse, in the interest of equality, of course.

The world looks simple, but the minimalistic approach works really well. I would hugely recommend this game, and has been one of my favourite FPS games recently.

Ultimately, there’s enough crafting to make things interesting even if it’s linear, lacks intuitive flexibility and most of all refinement for this genre.

Gameplay is king in this game and once you’ve made it through the opening few levels, you’ll find it very hard to turn it off.

Games like this are all about choice. And that’s what Space Colony does brilliantly. There’s so much choice, but it never threatens to overwhelm, it’s all very controlled, and with so much choice, there’s no limit to how often you can replay this game, and how differently you can do things.

Wicked Monsters Blast! HD PLUS is an extremely well presented and fun party game that unfortunately has a couple of design choices that potentially ruin the fun and longevity of its offering.

Screencheat is a very original game. The thing I enjoy most about it is that you can be one of the best players at first person shooters but the moment you play this game, that all changes.

The presentation and overall style of GOCCO looks great. It has a cute a colourful design that feels unique and playful.

The story may feel a little bit on the weak side but the choices you make and the places you explore are truly interesting and impactful.

There is fun to be had with Ninja Senki DX and the inclusion of additional game modes adds a lot of replay value for those who enjoy it. However due to the repetitive nature it’s a game I can only really enjoy in short bursts.

Ultimately, Dying Light: The Following Enhanced Edition is a fantastic update to an already great game. While the following may have some story issues, it doesn’t really detract from the overall enjoyment of playing the game. For old fans and new ones, check out the Enhanced Edition of Dying Light!

Overall I really enjoyed my time with The Flame in the Flood. Sure the game looks beautiful, with pleasant music and cute characters, but the gameplay is tough, challenging and relentless.

A decent pirate RPG experience with a good amount of things to see and do. The upgrading and management systems are the highlight and core part of the game and kept me entertained for a good amount of time.

A cool concept for what could have been a really fun title. Sadly, lack of content and a single player component just has this game come up short.

Family Bowling 3D didn’t immediately bowl me over yet the charm of it’s four main characters, memorable music (that is more often than not fitting) and it’s steep challenge mode made it irresistible.

It’s not a work of art, but it doesn’t want to be. It wants to make you feel like an idiot, but to laugh while it happens.

I admit, the idea of Michonne getting her own series is so thin you could stick a pen through it, but if anyone can give it depth it’s Telltale.

The Minotaur Maze offers a fun experience by allowing the player to manipulate the environment to defeat the Minotaurs. The game gives charming sound design through upbeat techno music that mixes well with graphics of the game. However, those who are looking for puzzle and strategy will be disappointed by the games fast pace and tedious gameplay.

It is nothing you have not seen before, and when it comes down to it, it is nothing you will not see again.

With more intelligent and varied AI, and a combat system that didn’t effectively screw over anyone wanting something just a little more accessible (sadly a trait shared with many games attempting to be ‘hardcore’, especially the retro-styled ones), this could have been a genuine classic instead of a missed opportunity.

It’s not a long game; even if you select the longest campaign length of 52 weeks, it shouldn’t take much longer than an hour or so each time. But it’s fun while it lasts and has pretty much infinite replayability.

If hack and slashes are your thing, then go for it. But for those on the fence, I’d say purchase the latest Devil May Cry game and go wild.

Sure, it’s a little late to the party, but it’s here now and it’s as undeniably fantastic as one might have hoped. Good in single player, great online and absolutely fantastic when played locally with friends, Rocket League goes down as one of the greatest sports games of the past few years and arguably the best multiplayer game of the generation.

I wouldn’t have expected that I would enjoy this game quite as much as I did, but I have to say, it was probably one of the best games of it’s type that I’ve ever played, not to mention that it’s absolute proof that with a little bit of TLC, even a fairly old game can be re done and still manage to look, feel and play better than a lot of recent games.

The technically improved but fundamentally unchanged Classic Mode arguably remains the strongest aspect of this package, but whichever way you choose to tackle the latest entry in Atlus’ much loved, Etrian Odyssey series, the gameplay and decidedly old school dungeon crawling mechanics remain as strong and compelling as ever.

Some will find the lack of a clear narrative disappointing while others might find the grind-heavy gameplay a bit of a chore, but for many, this throwback to old school JRPG sensibilities will likely prove a refreshing and pleasingly nostalgic experience.

Valhalla Hills is well designed and quite charming. If you are into strategy and building type games you will get addicted to Valhalla Hills easily.

Overall this game is really a spectacular one for its genre it mixes the weather and time changes with the various jobs and vehicles necessary for city maintenance perfectly with an engine that We have seen before, but not quite in this fashion.

Chronus Arc is an awful game. It is a grind from start to finish. The story either doesn’t make sense or is boring. The retro graphics are just lazy. It isn’t engaging and you would probably have a more enriching experience watching paint dry or the washing machine go round.

From the moment the wallpaper popped onto my PS4 screen, the manga influence took centre stage. It continued to be that way as I pressed start, with the overall in-game graphics beautifully cell-shaded, mimicking the appearance of an anime.

Controlling your fighter can be awkward, but get next to the opponent and release feel good, glorious beat downs, and a button mashing war. An interesting roster, dual storylines, and great visuals prove this to be worthy of a newcomers time, and a real treat for established fans.

Factotum 90 certainly makes up for with atmosphere, artistic direction and value. The limited exposition and the subdued musical score keeps the tone at soothing levels, creating a pleasant and rewarding experience overall.

We enjoy playing it and although, as I said, the voice acting isn’t great and it crashed a few times but other than that the game flows really well, it’s a game about mystery, crime and solving murders and puzzles and we can’t wait to play through the rest of the game and complete it. As we are determined we will catch the ABC murderer and put him behind bars.

As much as I enjoyed Dementium, it is relatively short (clocking in at around 4-5 hours), only supports a single save file and features no other game modes outside of the difficulty options. Having said that, it was very refreshing to play a solid horror title on the 3DS and I’ll definitely be picking it up for another play through at some point in the future.

If you’ve already played through and enjoyed Electronic Super Joy’s main game then the chances are that you probably consider yourself something of a hardcore so-and-so. In that case, I urge you to download and play Hot Sticky Mess as well, since it is essentially just more of the same but even tougher. If you haven’t played either and are quite happy with your relaxing and fun games thank-you-very-much, then I suggest closing this tab and going back to your happy life where you knew nothing of this game or its potentially life-threatening power.

The game does a great job of switching up the pacing and timing of the gameplay.

With the debut of a brand new story and placing the XCOM unit in the attack stance, this latest installment in the XCOM series will definitely meet fans expectations as well as introduce new players into the series.

If you are looking for a challenge that you do not have to become invested in, this is the game for you.

Klaus is a memorable platform game that combines a unique art style with interesting game mechanics, it’s just lacking abit of that soul which would make Klaus a more entertaining title to play.

Ocean Runner seem’s like an original take on one of the most overused genres, although invest some time and you can tell Gilbert is out of his depth. The familiar yet fun gameplay and addictive power ups unfortunately do not make up for the misplaced music, drab storyline and lack of replay value. Ocean runner does not sink or swim but it does float.

The overall aesthetic of the game is very impressive, and the Digimon look as amazing as ever.

The game is a fun and entertaining dedication to the history of Pinball, I particularly enjoyed the game modes, the power-ups and the mini-boss modes.
