Building on all of Zero Dawn's impressive achievements, Horizon Forbidden West feels like a natural evolution of the formula, featuring a sophisticated combat system, impressive variety of enemies, hundreds of activities to do, a gripping story that shines through its lore and characters, visual section of true next generation and a world much more explorable and free than that of its predecessor, which due to certain design compromises, perhaps makes the exploration more systematic than we would have liked. In any case, Guerrilla Games is delivering a game that lives up to the enormous expectations that were held and, therefore, a clear candidate to become Game of the Year.- Atomix

One of the top JRPGs of the last decade is back and not turned into one of the best JRPGs of all time. Persona 5 Royal is more than just a game, it's an ode to everyone who's into video games and relevant stories.- Atomix

The best Wii U port to Nintendo Switch, as they not only brought the adventure over intact, but also took the time to consider those who had already played it and wanted a more polished product. This includes graphical improvements, quality of life tweaks, and the inclusion of additional story content.- Atomix

There's no doubt about it, DOOM: The Dark Ages is one of the best games of the year, one of the best FPSs of the generation, and an experience you absolutely have to play. Completely ignoring this title is blasphemy you shouldn't commit.- Atomix

Street Fighter 6 is the redemption of the series. The way it presents a huge amount of content will make fans smile. The only setback is the poor execution of the World Tour.- Atomix

There's no doubt that Metaphor: ReFantazio is one of the best games of the year. Atlus and Studio Zero have delivered an experience that no one can afford to miss. With more than 20 years working for this company, Katsura Hashino and his team have shown that they still have a lot to give us, and I wouldn't be surprised if this is the start of a new saga that, over time, becomes as important and acclaimed as Persona and Shin Megami Tensei.- Atomix

Monster Hunter Wilds is the best game in the series. While some fans may debate this, it's undeniable that the developers have created an experience that is accessible and retains the essence of the franchise. Its story, to the surprise of many, is captivating, and it's more than just an excuse to go out and hunt monsters, as it presents us with a specific journey with well-defined characters. Each encounter has a great weight in this adventure and you never feel like you're wasting your time. The progression is fantastic, and it's something I hope will be a constant in the future.- Atomix

In the same way as the first DLC for Mario Kart 8, this new expansion offers rich content that make its price seems to cheap for all the new circuits, characters and cars. With this second wave of new circuits, Nintendo shows why it is one of the best games on the new generation consoles and definitely the best title on the franchise and in the karting genre.- Atomix

The star here is the Shadow Realm. The way this map is built plays very well with its limitations, creating a layered world that takes exploration to a new level for the series. Traveling through this open world is extremely satisfying and gives us so many options that it can even be overwhelming for some people, but at the same time it gives rise to an experience that only Tears of the Kingdom had achieved in recent years. Shadow of the Erdtree is an expansion that no one should miss, and a solid candidate for the best of the year.- Atomix

Bloodborne allows us to experience the gravity of a world in decay, without losing the goofiness of ragdoll physics and pulling a whole arsenal out of our pockets. Just the impeccable gameplay and the excellent art direction makes this game one of the best in this decade.- Atomix

Mario Kart World kicks off the Switch 2 in a practically flawless way, presenting an experience that not only showcases several of the new hardware's capabilities but also revolutionizes the very traditional way of doing things within the series it represents. While the open world wasn't exactly what we expected, the core of the racing experience is one of the most polished and well-executed projects in the company's history. The achievements in control, mechanics, level design, and audiovisual presentation set a new standard that we believe none of its competitors will come close to matching. The king of karting is back.- Atomix

What Capcom is currently doing might seem simple, but besides seeing established companies completely lose their way, the entire industry is experiencing an air of bewilderment and uncertainty, especially regarding big-budget productions. Resident Evil Requiem is proof of many things, such as the franchise's great importance within the industry, making it clear that there is a path for AAA titles to move forward safely and profitably for those who manage the business side...A spectacular story that reconnects with the origins of the entire saga, an innovative yet classic gameplay system that perfectly modulates its pace, and a truly next-generation audiovisual presentation are just some of the elements that make Resident Evil Requiem a very serious contender for Game of the Year 2026. Capcom is on the right track with one of its flagship series and has given us a memorable adventure that will be widely discussed in the future and that, of course, places it among the highlights of this franchise.- Atomix

Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake is the definitive version of one of the pillars of this industry. With this title, Square Enix has made it clear that they are capable of honoring the extensive legacy they have, and I wouldn't be surprised to hear that Final Fantasy VI or Chrono Trigger get this treatment in the future. Make no mistake, Dragon Quest III HD-2D Remake is one of the best remakes in history, and something that everyone should play.- Atomix

While it's ridiculous that PlayStation Studios only delivers one or two games a year, Ghost of Yōtei is the perfect example of how teams like Sucker Punch are true masters of their craft. The title does everything a sequel should, and the result is one of the best experiences of the year. While the title isn't perfect, Atsu's journey is captivating, and it makes clear that this anthology model the studio has created has the potential to expand indefinitely.- Atomix

Dragon Quest XI: Echoes of an Elusive Age does not find the black thread of anything nor try to revolutionize the genre at all; On the contrary, it seeks to pay tribute to its legacy that has forged through more than three decades and that has led it to become one of the most important exponents of the genre and one of the most beloved franchises in Japan. If you are a lover of the JRPG then do not hesitate, Dragon Quest XI is an adventure that you must live and experience.- Atomix

Final Fantasy XVI is not only one of the best games of the year, it is one of the best role-playing titles made in Japan in a long time and, therefore, one of the most important exponents of the legendary franchise to which it belongs, thanks to to great production values and clear ideas that kept its development cycle on the right path, a matter that of course, leads to a tremendously solid video game that, despite not being perfect, undoubtedly has virtues that strongly outweigh its defects.- Atomix

There’s only one word to describe Fire Emblem Conquest: Amazing. It retakes all the good aspects from Fire Emblem Awakening, its predecessor, and polishes them in some way that puts all of the elements that made this a game great in a new dimension, almost touching perfection. Also its difficulty level is one of the pillars that make this version stand in front of the other. If you’re looking for an incredible adventure with a challenge worth the effort, look no further, here is what you have been waiting for.- Atomix
