I'm sure that there are excellent and enjoyable visual novels out there, ones that handle character with subtlety, story with passion, and don't treat the reader like an uninitiated idiot - but Lux-Pain isn't one of them.

For the casual gamer this is a mess with very few redeemable features beyond a few fantastic stories - throw in poor graphics, weak voice work and a longevity that will barely cover a weekend and you're left with a title that could have been so much better.

The problem is, it's limited and boring - and with a whole proliferation of racing classics available for a budget price, you've really got to ask yourself - why bother with this when there's so much better on offer?

Zathura isn't a particularly bad title; it just lacks anything that puts it above most other recent releases.

If you like the look of this, you're much better off getting it on PC or Xbox, where you can take it online.

Whilst not presenting massive depth, should keep most gamers happy with something different until the next bout of heavily licensed footy games hit the shelves.

An excellent treat for fans of the books and soon to be fans of the film. The game covers a lot of territory while doing a great job of bringing a decent amount of challenge and thrills to the masses.

It is not terribly long by adventure game standards, yet I found myself quite disappointed when I knew I had hit the end of the road, and as the epilogue suggested some further adventures, I was hopeful that this was a false-ending and there was more to come.

A great add-on for most Sim 2 players, as you can inject your creativity into the game by designing your own clothes, as well as using the pre-made outfits.

While this party pack might only have 40 items, many of which you can download, at the end of the day, when all your Sims are together surrounded by Christmassy deco - well, that's all that matters. Merry Christmas everybody!

The three areas, while containing approximately ten levels each, aren't particularly taxing and while a child may find them quite tricky no adults will be left scratching their heads for long.

What we've ended up with is a shambles, a game that looks boring and plays badly - a game that feels as ancient as the mythical beasts that you must vanquish.

MLB Front Office Manager is a game with a lot of potential, as demonstrated by the thoughtful inclusions of thirty-player online leagues and a fantasy league. However, its admittedly slick interface is maddening in terms of design, resulting in a game that's extremely hard to play because it takes far too much effort just to accomplish one simple thing, quickly sapping you of the will to continue.

Horrible Histories: Ruthless Romans is filled with important (and child-pleasingly gory) facts and does to a certain extent succeed in making learning fun. The mini-games are enjoyable overall and well put together, with only some suffering from irritating controls and the game is well aimed at young children, forming almost a love letter to the fans of the original books, although it is quite text-heavy, so don't expect your children to forsake Mario and Zelda for it altogether.

Predator: Concrete Jungle does a fair job of putting a console face on the galactic big game hunter as well as offering some genuinely fun moments, but unfortunately the linearity, ropey camera and basic fighting mechanics don't make for a particularly long lasting experience.

Sure, there's oodles of feudal female flesh on display and a competent command system, but too many areas of the game fall flat on their face for it to be anything other than a tragic waste of time.

This game simply wasn't ready for release and I think it is an affront to gamers that you have put LEGO Star Wars II: The Original Trilogy for the Nintendo DS on the shelves in such a clearly unfinished state.

Flushed Away isn't a terrible game, but it does nothing to encourage me to go and see the film again, and tarnishes what is easily one of the funniest films of the year.

With repetitive, tedious gameplay, poor graphics and generic level designs, The Golden Compass is a mildly enjoyable fantasy videogame for younger audiences only; anyone above their formative years will not find the depth or enjoyment of the books in what boils down to yet another uninspired action adventure translation of a great movie license that couldn't be more by the numbers if it tried.
