The initial grind can be annoying, but once you get past that phase and start carrying out the big money loads, the fun to be had with this platforming crime caper is surprising.

Hacknet lacks the depth and freedom of the close relative TIS-100. But it gives you a sense of what goes on in the real hacking world – an interesting experience.

If you own the PS2 original, you don’t need this. But if you are new to this kung fu cat you’ll get a fair amount of classic action adventure for a decent price.

This wasn’t love at first sight. But once you look behind the gritty retro visuals of this twinstick variation you might just find something that will keep you coming back.

It is not the prettiest undead game out there. And with the omission of the second screen (even though it would have been possible on Vita or SmartGlass devices) the great atmosphere and immersion suffer, which characterized the WiiU version. But at its core it still is a tense and hard fought fight for survival.

The mix of tower defense and action still works as it did a few years back. But since the premiere of Toy Soldiers a lot of games mixed those elements. And in the end the war chest contains nothing to beat the competition once more. But then again: What you get is quite entertaining.

Of course it doesn’t change the fundamentals of the reboot that was established last year. But with additional modes and gameplay tweaks fighting with (or against) your friends for fame and gold it reaches a new level of fun.

This is as dry as it gets. It makes a game out of some peoples’ jobs. And in all its minimalistic glory it is a lot of fun. But conceptually it is not as far as it may seem in the beginning from the author’s earlier works like SpecChem or Infinifactory.

With the sorcerer king as antagonist you are taunted as well as challenged from the very beginning. And while this is a neat creative impulse, the art design, AI and diplomacy options leave hold the concept back.

If you played it already on a older system, the playthrough video with the director’s commentary is the only thing new to you. But it is worth the full admission price tag? Not really. If you missed out on the thoughtfully crafted adventures of the siblings, this is the version to get, though.

It starts very mysteriously and sparks your curiosity. But unfortunately you’ll see through the mechanics too fast and while the idea of conveying the story via scribbles is interesting, the lack of gameplay challenges drops the suspense too soon.

It shows the still known mechanical faults, but the story is worth every minute, as it sets the tone for a hopefully tense finale.

This is like a magical novel. If you’re looking for something different, something quiet, you just might find what you need in this beautifully crafted adventure full of secrets.

Old school city builder with a beautiful art design but clumsy UI.

The concept is as cool as the minimalistic art design that gives you the chance to be a four-wheeled magic marker. And while it might take a while to get used to the art of drifting, you get bored quickly by the redundant mission design.

The visual style is very unique and captivating, the quiet storytelling with the focus on experiencing the world based on perception and expectation is a breath of fresh air. But it all feels very safe. In the end you are not Rae’s guardian or protector but rather a companion on her travels.

The choice of games is dubious sometimes, with the omissions of GoldenEye and the Xbox-Version of Conker Live and Reloaded the most prominent victims. Also the backwards compatibility for Banjo Kazooie Nuts and Bolts and Perfect Dark Zero needs optimization. But nonetheless I grew fond of this collection that gives you a good overview of the opus of one of the most creative studios there was.

This action-adventure sports some interesting ideas. The execution leaves a lot to be desired though. Technically and mechanically it feels outdated.

Sometimes The Vanishing forgets to lead the player into uncertainty – it feels too safe, even though Poe and Lovecraft are quoted here and then. But that aside, this is an interesting adventure that utilizes Unreal Engine 4 on the PS4, resulting in some of the most memorable scenery you can get.

If you don’t know Journey, get ready to get excited. Not only because technically it is a convincing port. But more importantly because even after three years this masterpiece of reduced game design is as captivating as ever.

This side of Sanctuary it doesn’t get much better than this. Victor Vran blurs the lines between hack & slash and action adventure, delivering a very unique experience. Unfortunately it suffers from a generic art design and the preset character development.

With the added campaign, more traps and improved (yet still not contemporary) visuals, the Nightmare Princess on PS4 is the best Deception 4 you can get. Too bad that Tecmo Koei didn’t improve AI as well.

How on earth could this game make it to a release state? And why would Atari kill the franchise that started survival horror and made Resident Evil what it is today?

Visually the reincarnation of the cult monsters is a disappointment, brought down by the sluggish controls and redundant mission design. Godzilla should have stayed in hibernation.
