Shantae is high spirits in gaming form. While you can see the 3DS source within the rough visuals the mechanics are as enchanting as ever – a beautiful open MetroidVania platform adventure.

With an exceptional port and an attractive package of bonus content the long waiting time has been made worthwhile. Lara's latest adventure is easy on the eyes and delivers good clean fun.

I always emphasize how much I like Tekken Bowling – and keep forgetting how much I missed Tekken Ball. With the extra content this would be the first choice for Tekken aficionados – but just if you use the ProController. The standard Wii U GamePad is made with a lot of games in mind but not beat'em ups.

A charming action RPG that combines a great cartoon design with loads of roguelike elements while constantly paying homage to The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past.

PES 17 looks great, feels authentic and celebrates complex soccer with new tactical components. But the lack of progress in game modes (especially the career) is alarming.

Just Add Water manages to walk the fine line with rebuilding the retro feeling and adding a few modern twists, although the finicky controls could definitely be more contemporary.

Challenging and forceful 2D action-adventure set within a straggly world – each and every of the many deaths will be worthwhile.

The Splatters is an incredibly charming physics lesson that puts equal emphasis on puzzles and skills. Unfortunately it is quite short and lacks variety.

A cool timeloop thriller with great characters and a lot of freedom, but also some small AI issues and other nuisances.

A great example for psychological horror, unfortunately held back by some frustrating puzzle designs and the laborious door and inventory handling.

Business as usual? Not really. With Middle Earth as a hub world, the intelligent puzzles as well as the proven mechanics this is the best Lego adventure in a long time.

Gears 5 delivers an entertaining campaign with surprisingly open areas, excellent visuals and a bunch of fun (and sometimes fresh) multiplayer modes. But it also suffers from technical glitches and bugs.

Even with the restriction that the AI is seemingly unable to cope in the final third of the game, this is a good and content-rich old-school strategy that keeps calling me with the infamous “one more turn”.

A courageous blend of jump&run, rhythm game, musical theater and story-based adventure. I just can warm up completely to the audiovisual presentation, which is too retro for its own good.

The presentation leaves something to be desired here and there but in terms of content you’ll get a decent mixture of diplomacy and warfare in a 16th century setting.

I like the fact that Rufus returned to terrorize his environment. This destructive journey is a wild ride spiced up with time tiers. Classic point & click doesn’t get much better.

Not only is the concept unique, the execution is as well. In its best moments you actually feel like you are sitting at a computer terminal in a deserted spaceship trying to navigate the drones on a basis of schematic scanner data. In its not so good moments the path-finding and some other minor flaws destroy the immersion.
