Heroes of the Three Kingdoms needs quite a bit of work. The foundation for a fun action game is there, but a whole host of imperfections and irritating design choices drag the entire thing down. Might want to wait for an update or two before pulling the trigger on this one.

Playing it safe, Call to Arms is a freemium title we've all played before that lacks the originality to make it stand out.

Overall, players aren't going to be terribly impressed with this. The gameplay is really very average and doesn't lead to anywhere that could be considered above average; with the awkward camera scheme it is really difficult to move with any constant sense of speed to appease the timer; and the presentation is perhaps the only redeeming quality of this game. Not the wisest of purchases.

The core aspects of Airline Tycoon Deluxe are all solid and would most likely make for a great simulation, especially to genre fans or anyone who loved the original PC release. It's just got no hope of reaching that potential with a control system as inherently broken as the one it has right now.

It's not that Team Hot Wheels Flame Riders isn't fun. It's just a little basic to be true value for money, even at the low price of $0.99.

Daytona Rush is an incredibly shallow endless racer, but it's fun in a forgettable kind of way.

The Order of Souls is a free-to-play, turn-based RPG with a genre-mixing art style, interesting narrative structure, and lackluster combat.

I really wanted to like Vulture Island, especially since it was made by Donut Games, makers of the excellent Traps n' Gemstones. That, and the game wears a lot really great inspirational touchstones on its sleeve. Unfortunately though, I spent the majority of my time with the game dying repeatedly or looking at a walkthrough and rolling my eyes at puzzle solutions, which was not particularly fun or satisfying.

Kemco's stable of mobile RPGs grows, but in Fanatic Earth's situation it's a case of quantity over quality.

Sure, it may look pretty on the surface, but the luscious sheen of brilliant visuals will appear far more tarnished once the constant reminders to shell out cash kick in. Don't let this beast slay your wallet.

Gnus Revenge is a treat to look at and adds several elements to space-physics games that Angry Birds Space doesn't have, but bad timing is bad timing.

Just when you thought tower defense had run out of ideas, they dump a new idea on gamers. Although it probably hadn't been tried for good reason.

If you are looking for a competent clone of current JRPGs on console, then you have come to the right place. Just don't expect it to push the envelope any further than is ultimately necessary. Sadly, the curse of developers choosing to "play it safe" may have just claimed another victim.

It's the sort of game you'll play for a couple of attempts then realise that you've been playing it for a lot longer than that. The simplistic nature just draws you in when you're after something that doesn't require thinking too much.

With the prospect of a more interesting story and setting than is usual, Farm Up is worth a look for those keen on the genre. It won't sway players frustrated by the time restrictions that are placed upon them. Ultimately, it is just more of the same with a different skin.

What I want developers like EA and Gameloft (NFL 2011) to understand is that people don't want to play full simulation football on a tiny screen. They want to play a football game that is designed for a mobile device, one that gets rid of all the complexities that bog down the console version and only has the fun stuff.

Despite its pay-to-win tendencies, Pico Tanks can still be a reasonably fun multiplayer game. The nuances of its tank combat and customization options demonstrate there is room for a different kind of tank game out there. I just wish this one wasn’t monetized to tip the balance of matches in favor of whoever spends the most money on it.
