Million Onion Hotel can be a pretty overwhelming experience, but that’s part of what makes it so great. Its gameplay is relatively simple, but it layers on all sorts of crazy visuals and twists on its base mechanics that force you to learn from your mistakes and refine your strategy every time you play. There are some ways in which Million Onion Hotel gets a little too hectic and hard to follow, but I’d much rather that be the case than the alternative. Million Onion Hotel is a totally uncompromising experience, and I certainly respect it for that, even if it can be a little distracting at times.

Lords of Waterdeep is an elegant D&D-themed board game port that fans can enjoy in both single and multiplayer modes.

Escape from the Pyramid is a fantastic platformer because of its great sense of style, speed, control, and challenge.

It's not necessarily the most complex or grueling lane-defense strategy game but Pixel Kingdom does fun really, really well.

SIMULACRA is a creepy and thrilling game that may make you feel uncomfortable, but that’s kind of the point.

Based on the popular web series, Fly Catbug Fly! is an endless flying game staring an adorable lady bug cat who needs help collecting expensive junk through 9 different locations.

Roboto is slick, familiar and simultaneously fresh, and gamers old and new will welcome the sidescrolling action gaming fun.

Even though Bug Princess 2 is essentially "more of the same," I'm okay with that. Seeing as "the same" equates to an extremely responsive, intense, and downright fun iOS SHMUP I have a hard time viewing that as a bad thing. It might look a tad dated and lack some of the expanded modes of a few of Cave's other titles, but it's still awesome. So. Very. Awesome.

CRUSH! is an intense block-based puzzler that’s best described as Tetris’ evil twin brother.

Strategy purists will probably still lean towards Galcon due to its pure strategy focus, but I think the average gamer will appreciate the added abilities that Buccaneer Blitz grants you.

A fantastic platformer and a stellar iOS game. The controls are fluid, the visuals are wonderful and the levels all beg to be played over-and-over again in order to nab a full trio of stars (one each for completion, speed and gear collecting).

I cannot stress just how impressed I am with this game. It seems to have come out of nowhere, but I personally feel it's destined to share a spot with the rest of the App Store's top platformers.

Aside from being just plain fun, there's also plenty of reason to revisit Bring Me Sandwiches!! once it's in the bag.

In short, this is a very well-designed game and one of those perfect "pick up and play" apps that is sure to keep casual gamers interested for a while. It's free (at least the first four levels are) so you have no excuse. It's almost launch time.

It's a simple premise, and the result is a fun game that you can easily play over and over again. Swinging upward from gear to gear is great fun. It doesn't hurt that the artwork is so gorgeous, or that the music is fantastic.

Rainblocks will be sure to delight any brainteaser addicts who play it.

Fruit Roll HD's graphics are bright and clever-cute, the controls work flawlessly, even the music is catchy and pleasant.

I generally have a low tolerance for control issues in games, but Death Road to Canada is just so fun that I want to keep playing it even when I don't love the way it feels. That goes to show just how great this game is. Death Road to Canada is a fantastic game that you shouldn't miss.

Instantion is a compelling, challenging game that should be a hit with puzzle/platforming fans.

With over 100 different space stations to explore and four different races to interact with, Galaxy on Fire 2 will take you much longer to complete than the 10 hours that FISHLABS promises.

Flick Soccer is a ton of fun, easy to play, and easy to get lost in. This is definitely one of my new favorite iOS games.

Little Inferno won't take long to reach its inevitable conclusion provided players burn all the things at a steady pace. However it's the puzzle-like combos and the funny, sometimes freaky, reactions objects have to fire that should keep them coming back even after unlocking the final catalog.

Gamers help a janitor rescue monsters who have escaped in a Russian research lab by using his personal teleporter to make it through 80 mind-bending levels.

A unique puzzle/memory game that turns players into taxonomists. Strange paper creatures waddle across the screen and must be properly categorized before they escape off the page.

At the end of the day though, even with the lack of killer graphics, I can safely say that I spent more time with Game Dev Story in one sitting than any other game I've played this year.

Fans of first person shooters, and especially the original N.O.V.A., will definitely not be disappointed with this fantastic sequel. With its painstaking amount of action and detail, N.O.V.A. 2 really does feel almost console worthy.

The RPG elements are fantastic, the story is great, and the graphics and sound are amazing. In a game like this, I would expect longevity to be a concern, but if you do everything in the game, it will probably take you 10-15 hours… and maybe more, to complete.

Santa Rockstar is definitely worth adding to the Christmas wish list-especially if gamers have always wanted to see Santa pierced, tattooed and ready to rock. Kick back with song eggnog and get ready to party all night long with Santa and his hardcore reindeer band.

One of the finest JRPGs comes to iOS and it's a sublime release, despite a few quibbles.

It's hard to look at Prison Architect and not be impressed by it. Even with some of its technical issues, it's one of the most fully-featured management sims I've ever played. It's a game that somehow creates fun in an extremely dour and complex setting, all while handling its sensitive subject matter with remarkable grace.

Chicken Balls does a great job setting itself apart even though it has some stiff competition from Angry Birds. The graphics and humor give the game a great vibe, and the added gameplay elements really make for a deep experience.

Coolson’s Pocket Pack is a polished word game, a great distraction for adults.

The combination of persistent progression, user generated tracks, and bright neon graphics takes this simple racing game to a whole new level.

Lost Oddies is a clever little puzzle game that’s sure to drive players mad, but in a good way.

Jack Lumber is completely ridiculous and I love it. It's easy to pick up and play, has plenty of laughs, and actually has a great number of levels to go along with it. Put on some flannel, grow out that beard, and chop some wood.

Catch eggs, hatch 'em, and unleash the Eternal Lollipop of Joy in Lollipop 3: Eggs of Doom; a surreal but delightful arcade-style game.

Anyone who hasn’t played the original but always wanted to needs to try Capsized+. It’s a great port of a great game that, as far as I can tell, is only missing the co-op and deathmatch modes found in the PC version.

It's hard to tell just what rymdkapsel is with nothing but screen shots to go on, but rest assured that whatever it is, it's awesome.

It's what I've always wanted on iOS. There just needs to be more here! This is a wonderful start.

The well-regarded PC game lives on - quite well - on iOS.

Cordy 2 offers plenty of in-app purchases but none other than the initial $4.99 outlay for the full game, are actually needed. Instead, they offer customization options that I found unnecessary to my enjoyment of the game. Offering plenty of charm and little reason to criticize, Cordy 2 is an utterly delightful platformer.

All in all, even with the graphical snafus, I think that Miami Vindication will please just about anyone who wants to play a good GTA-like game. With its huge city, impressive voice acting, and competent controls, I'd say that Miami Vindication is a big win for Gameloft.

Sparkle 2 is a marble-shooter with an enormous amount of content, lots of challenging levels, and a great look.

Winky Think Logic Puzzles include numerous tactile puzzles that will challenge all age groups.

But really, Kingdom Conquest does a fantastic job at being more than just the typical farming game, while keeping a lot of what makes these types of freemium games work.

Shaken or stirred, CounterSpy is simply the best stealth action game to sneak its way onto the App Store.

If playing poker with Brock Samson sounds like fun, then, well, Poker Night 2 is well worth a download.

Heroes and Castles is quite possibly Foursaken Media's most refined strategy title yet, and I personally find it to be their most entertaining. If you enjoyed the original Chopper, you will absolutely love Chopper 2. The graphics are better, the game is more epic, and most importantly… it's more Chopper.

Unlike its big brother Puerto Rico, it's universal, so it can be played on both the iPhone and iPad, plus it's more immediately understandable and playable. Anyway, once you visit San Juan, you might just want to see what the rest of Puerto Rico has to offer.

Rarely do you see an iOS port that goes to such great lengths to preserve what made the PC version so special.

Piloteer is like trying to teach an octopus with an inner ear problem how to fly a helicopter, and I absolutely love it.

At the risk of sounding cliché, it's not hard to argue that FIFA 13 is a pitch perfect adaption of the world's sport. While that might be a bit extreme, the brand's dedication to tweaking game mechanics until they are perfect, seems to be shining through loud and clear.

A fantastic, atmospheric game with absolutely gorgeous visuals and tremendous replay value. You'd have to be insane to pass this up, although you may end up that way, regardless.

Bean's Quest 2: Bean Dreams delivers on its promise of being more of the first game, for better or for worse.

Bloody Epic is one surpisingly fun runner. It’s got plenty of unlockables (even without counting the “special” IAP gear), an unexpected amount of strategy to employ, and buckets o’ gore. Not even buckets, more like swimming pools or something. All in all it’s a great use of $1 and a great way to kill time. Also orcs and undead.

If you have the right device, and if you don't mind the price, then you must play Dodonpachi Resurrection.

The fighting and avoiding mechanics are a delight to watch and effect as a player, while the high quality production makes the game a must-own for any gaming or Spider-Man fan.

Mikey Boots is a fine third installment in the excellent Mikey series of platformers.

This action game makes a triumphant return to the App Store and feels just great as it did 15 years ago.

The only thing wrong with UHR-Warlords' sublime strategic battles is that there aren't more of them.

While there are a few bumps along the way, Polymer is an extremely impressive game even when forgetting that it's from a first-time developer.

While Army of Darkness Defense suffers from repetition issues, they are minor quibbles in what is one of my favorite castle defense games on the App Store. Even for those who are not fans of the Evil Dead franchise, the game has enough fun, addiction, humor, and lasting power to make it a definite recommendation, especially for the paltry sum of $0.99 for the iPhone/iPod touch versions.

This colorful and smooth puzzle game is a reimagined version of a mobile classic.

When it comes to sci-fi/western mash-up arcade games, I can't think of a better example than Pixel Ranger. It's just simply… endearing.

This game looks nothing short of gorgeous, and it really shows off how pretty an iOS game can be. The action may be a bit scripted and linear but it is so varied from moment to moment and executed so smoothly that players will hardly feel confined or restricted. This is a much needed addition to the iOS library, and it shines.

I really can't recommend Eco Punk enough. It's got a killer personality (literally), great controls, and the game itself is perfect for pick-up-and-play gaming.

Geometry Wars 3: Dimensions is a beautiful shooter that feels right at home on mobile

Icebreaker: A Viking Voyage manages to combine just about every physics puzzle concept out there to surprisingly great effect.

Halloween has come early for fans of the Regular Show with phantom-busting Ghost Toasting, a platform shooter that is as fun as much as it is frustrating.

Overall, Paul & Percy gets high marks. This is definitely a game for those who are interested in testing their planning and strategy skills. Currently, there are 50 levels that will take a decent amount of time to complete, especially if players want to obtain gold medals in each level.
