Not very often does a newcomer impress, quite to the level that ARC Squadron has. The visual polish, overabundance of content, and addictive gameplay all meld together into a product that even Fox McCloud would be happy to have bear his name. Don't hesitate to jump into the cockpit. This is going to be one hell of a ride, that shouldn't be missed.

Beach Buggy Blitz is fantastic and one of the best of its kind on iOS. An absolute pleasure to play and play again.

Draw a Stickman: Epic is a little rough around the edges, but there's this constant sense of whimsy that acts as a constant (pardon the pun) draw. That and it's just silly fun to draw flames on various objects and then watch them burn.

Worst of all, that's the same price as Broken Sword: Director's Cut, a far superior title. For those who have already enjoyed the delights of such excellent adventure games, it might be worth delving into Reversion: The Escape. For everyone else, though, I'd suggest caution till we see more of what comes of this series.

The puzzles are varied in both variety and difficulty and simply exploring each level can be its own reward. Anyone searching for a collection of brainteasers that are a bit different from the norm should consider giving this one a look.

There's enough here to make Buddha Finger worth the asking price but it'd be a hard soul to not be a little disappointed at such early promise not quite following through.

Hopefully the planned future update that will include additional stages, levels and obstacles will also include an updated tutorial screen. For now, it's a quirky platformer that's immersive and fun.

About the only thing that bothers me about Zombiewood is the virtual sticks. Their hit boxes just feel too small. I suppose it also takes a bit to earn Special Money to use on fancier stuff, but the daily slot machine and multiplayer challenge mode (a.k.a. The Arena) are both viable ways to earn it faster. I have to admit I had my doubts, but Gameloft has really come through here and I couldn't be happier with the results.

About Love, Hate and the Other Ones is a classic puzzle game done differently and done well. Even without the charming presentation it provides a clever and fairly unique series of special-relation riddles that make time melt away.

Even with the most critical of eyes, Need for Speed: Most Wanted is still easily one of the best racers on the platform to date. You would have to be crazy not to take this hot rod out for a nice long joy ride. EA and Firemonkey have once again re-defined what it means to play racing games on iOS.

Hungry Shark Evolution might be a very simple idea but it's fun to take down a plethora of fish or scuba divers in one combo, and oddly calming too! It might falter for extended sessions but as a game to dive (pun alert) into, it does the job.

Hairy Tales certainly has a few elements that make warding off the corruption a bit more taxing than it ought to be, but it's still a very entertaining puzzle game with loads of bushy cuteness. So go ahead; grab a crystal and start running. Just mind the gaps.

While I think the concept is not as perfectly-executed as I think it could be, Blast Soccer is definitely an interesting take on its sub-genre: and hey, a game that's interesting but far from perfect is better than a game that's mechanically sound but uninteresting.

I really hope the developers add more levels in the future with different themes and unique objects, because the premise is solid and could be expanded on. The open level allows players to explore around and do what they want which is a nice change from game with specific objectives.

Surviving enemy onslaughts as pistol-packing monkeys and cats is just an inherently fun idea that Armed Beasts effectively executes on. Plus, it's free, so it's not like there's anything to lose.

So, while I'm still somewhat conflicted about this game, I still actually enjoyed it quite a bit, though there is a flawed concept here. This is probably best for the kids, though I'm probably going to go kick Finn again. I'll see myself out.

Anyone looking for an alternative to slow and boring quiz games will want to pick up a copy of Super Smart today. While it has a couple of minor disappointments, it makes up for them through its addictive and crazy game play.

For fans of Gamevil games or strategy titles, and aren't afraid to eventually spend some money, this may be worth checking out. The average person should probably pass.

I'd recommend it purely to support such a great game, if nothing else, but such features are quite handy.

Crossword Dungeon is most definitely an interesting experiment and a very interesting new approach to crosswords, it just doesn't seem like it's been fully fleshed-out. That doesn't mean it's not fun or an entertaining distraction, though.

The charm factor alone is enough to make the game well worth playing, so solid mechanics and sprawling stages are just an added benefit.

League of Heroes is a free-to-play hack 'n slash that is interesting for one key reason: an easily-exploitable energy recharge system.

Actually playing the main two modes, Stay Alive and Pacfish, is a reasonably entertaining proposition.

While it is another game about launching things at other things, and yes the temptation to spend money will set in – buy Swing Shot PLUS to start off with some extra bananas and coins – but this is otherwise a rather fun take on the physics puzzler.

I undoubtedly had fun playing Slice the Ice, but the whole ordeal was over much sooner than I would've liked and an extremely large portion of the content is closed off. Although replaying each of the initial 20 levels for a "Perfect" is certainly still an option so long as one can get past the jerkiness.

It's great to play a Time Management game that does mostly everything right.

A solid action game that's sure to please most Children of the 80s. It's also goofy and entertaining enough to please plenty of other App Store shoppers. Hard core action gamers might take some issue with the minute lack of responsiveness, though.

Everything about it has come together in a way that is absolutely flawless. This is an absolute must-have. There is no reason not to download it whatsoever.

Games like Big Win Football can be both infuriating and intriguing at the same time. The passive gameplay lends itself well to bite size gaming, but those looking for more of a simulation feel need not apply. Micromanagers be warned, this is the kind of title that can stealthily rob away precious hours, with fairly little gain. Downloader beware: mileage may vary.

It's a neat idea but with clumsy controls, it takes some persistence to truly enjoy.

Funkin' Arena's multiplayer twists on tower defense are worth checking out but the game itself can't coast along on those alone. Hopefully they'll show up in another, more fully-featured product.

Simply put, Ninja Box is rough around the edges. If one were to strip away the stylistic art design, what would remain is essentially "hide and go seek," where the player simultaneously engages in exercises of trial and error. Let's just say that it might be best if this assassin remained locked in the dojo.

There might not be anything obviously wrong with Monument Builders: Eiffel Tower. It offers functional graphics and an appropriate control method but it also lacks any personality or sense of achievement.

Pocket Climber is a really fun, simple, and entertaining game. It takes a concept that has been done many times before, but executes it very well. The graphics and unique obstacles contribute to the fun game play to make a solid overall game.

Zynga is well-known for including a lot of in-app purchases in their apps to be able to play. Luckily, Twist Pilot costs just $0.99 without the need to make any additional purchases. The graphics of the game are sharp, the controls are easy and intuitive and the gameplay is simple yet challenging enough to keep players engaged.

The love put into every sprite and asset oozes from the screen, and also, there's pudding with a monocle.

I've just been having an absolute blast with Zombies and I can't wait to jump back in for more. An update with some slightly more forgiving hit boxes for the control sticks would certainly be nice, but it's nowhere near a necessity. Grab it. Play it. Love it.

With no real sense of progression and a quite steep and unfair difficulty curve (no one likes to be killed by a zombie that they couldn't even see due to the isometric nature of the level), Zombie Rollers is far from one of Chillingo's best entries to the App Store.

Blood of the Zombies won't entrance twitch gamers but for those looking for an interesting storyline and a delightful walk down memory lane, it's a sterling effort and one that very much deserves its asking price.

NeoMech isn't some piece of high art that seeks to elevate or deconstruct an old genre the way certain other retro throwbacks do. It's just a new game with fun, old influences. Sometimes fun is enough.

That touch of class exudes throughout the rest of Hidden Runaway, propelling it above the typical heights of Hidden Object gaming. The story is interesting and charming with the playable elements just as intriguing. It's an all round sterling package.

Monster House will definitely appeal to those who love both spooky and tycoon games – but I don't see this game winning people who aren't already infatuated with those genres over because of the lacking visuals and dull pace.

It's all quite simple gameplay but that doesn't stop Pirate Plunder being enjoyable.

Carmageddon is an older game, and it shows even on a mobile device, but people don't always love old games purely because they're old. Sometimes they love them because they're fun. And despite the slippery controls, this bit of nostalgia is still very, very fun.

Boomtime Baseball does get repetitive, given that no matter how varied the mini-games may seem, they all come down to hitting the ball hard. But, it's still quite fun to dive into for those short casual gaming sessions. The charm of the 1920s exterior provides the icing on the cake.

If you can get past the Woody Woodpecker style laughing, Kupid is fun to play for those looking for a quick gaming session.

I wouldn't recommend skipping ahead, though, as Drawn: Trail of Shadows is quite short and will only take a few hours to complete, anyhow. Still, quality over quantity is clearly here and while it's far from taxing on lower difficulty levels, Drawn: Trail of Shadows tells an interesting tale with some glorious visuals.

Topia World Builder is a game for those that want to play with a world of their own, that find joy in the process of creation rather than the structure or the output of the activity.

Pretty much the only lesson that should be taken from it is that it at least has consumable powerups that are cheap enough to buy with collected rings that they actually can become an integral part of gameplay, not just a plaything for the rich. Beyond that, this is a disappointingly pedestrian game.

It's possible to push past these bottlenecks with enough stubbornness (and gold), but it can be a real trial-by-patience. That's not to say it isn't worth doing as Sir Death is incredibly awesome and fun when it's not tossing players to the wolves.

This is a game great in theory, and smashing nukes with bare fists is never not just exceptionally awesome, but it only goes so far to raise the quality of the experience.

Overall, True Skate is a stunningly good looking game that comes incredibly close to recreating the feel of real skateboarding. There might not be a lot to do, but it does provide for a good time.

Texas Hold'em doesn't traditionally offer much wiggle room for creativity, yet somehow Texas Ask'Em Poker managed to have something fresh in the cards. This is one hand that you will definitely want to play out, and often. Ante up, because the brain-busting questions will just keep on coming.

So, we have a platformer with an interesting idea, but one that feels like it's still in that phase before it's fun. I encourage the developers to return to this idea; there's something here, it works well on touch screens, but refining it to make and keep it interesting is what is necessary to make it a star.

It's challenging stuff and players would be forgiven for being infuriated at times. One slightly wrong tilt can undo a lot of work in later stages and it's sometimes quite tough to navigate the mazes that emerge to add to the difficulty level.

There's just something about scouring each room for items and all that collecting, collecting, and collecting. It takes adjustment, but it can be worth the effort in the end.

The artwork is very polished and the storyline is original and witty. There is a lot of funny banter between the attorneys at the beginning of each round and it's almost as if the developers hired a screenplay writer to write all the content.

For folks that are fans of footie on a budget, there is plenty to appreciate in Real Soccer 2013. Unfortunately the flawed control scheme where it matters most, on the field, will likely leave gamers crawling back to EA.

When there are thousands of far more visible and branded poker simulators out there, it is hard to recommend PlayScreen Poker 2. There are no fundamental flaws with the gameplay itself, it just doesn't bring anything else important to the table.

Ivy the Kiwi? is a clear indicator if there ever was one: there is a big difference between games on phones and tablets, and games made for them. The price tag may be lower, but take our word for it: try the free trial first, and consider going 'retro' if you're intrigued.

E.T The Green Planet is a decent title for what it is. While not especially memorable, it's easily the finest E.T game to date. I bet even Drew Barrymore would be happy with this one.

Honestly though, anyone that's been waiting with baited breath for a "My Babysitter's a Vampire" fighting game will probably get a genuine kick out of Humans VS Vampires. For the rest of us though, it just bites.

The game is sold for under a buck, so it won't empty out your wallet. It's perfect while waiting at the doctor's office or for long sessions at night while unwinding from the day.

Super Bunny Breakout is worth checking out for those who like the Breakout formula, and want to see it tweaked with, and featuring bunnies instead of lifeless spheres. Good luck figuring out that energy mechanic, though, it's either terrible or benign!

WarCorps: Genesis shows how little differences can go a long way towards making a game stand out in a crowded genre. Military shooters aren't going anywhere soon so we might as well try the ones worth trying. At least it isn't in first person.

While it seems this might get old after a while, played in short bursts, it actually has a lot of legs, with each play earning coins to unlock different music and themes.

Girls Like Robots is a fantastic puzzle game: there's a lot of creativity that came from such a simple starting point, and the way that everything expands out from its simple beginnings is the kind of trait that great games have.

A fairly cute and amusing package, though. The slight addition of RPG elements to help buffer spells and amulets between battles, along with the fairly difficult achievements for each individual level give plenty of incentive to go back and try again, as returning will not result in just rehashing with the exact same power level. And again, if humor and writing are something to be appreciated, this game has quite a bit on offer.

With Polara, players are also arguably getting two games in one. After completing each stage, a separate goal emerges: the collection of the titular letters and a special medallion. The position of each letter cleverly rewires the way players are required to jump, switch colors, and evaluate timing. Meanwhile, perfectionists will be enticed by the pursuit of "flawless," no-death runs. All told, Hope This Works shows that ingenuity in design trumps superfluous achievements every time.

I'm absolutely in love with Crazy Taxi on iOS: it's a fantastic port of a bona fide classic.

BMX Jam is a fine example of how to produce an exciting arcade bike racing game that's easy to pick up and play, but challenging to master.

Kumo Lumo is one of the most innovative and entertaining titles to come from the Chillingo camp this year. In fact, it's one of the best from any camp. It's an utterly endearing and entertaining little title that perfectly suits the ultra-competitive iOS market and stands tall with any of this year's major releases.

Anyone who is a fan of running games will enjoy this game. It is similar to other games out there, but it has a few features and game mechanics that make it different. If other running games have become mundane and boring, then definitely consider purchasing Amazing Runner.

Despite the camera controls occasionally getting in the way, Blue Libra 2 is still a solid strategy game. It's just complex enough to breathe a bit of new life to the genre yet still simple enough to make the transition fairly painless. But that camera, man, wow.

Heck, if Mistwalker simply adjusted the amount of resources given for taking down enemies (giant boss-like bugs grant 2. Yes, 2) it could make a huge difference. As-is, though, it pales in comparison to other examples within the genre. Even with the inclusion of Blades.

It's remarkably simple yet incredibly frantic at the same time, and an upgrade or two can make all the difference when it comes to nailing a three-star rating. Fans of the genre, give it a look.

For a simple puzzler that will get players thinking, Oh! Sheep is a nice addition to the genre. The first 15 levels are a generous amount of free levels to get a feel for the game and the $0.99 price tag is worth the total 90 levels. Anyone who enjoyed Spy Mouse and other path-drawing puzzlers should definitely pick this one up.

Death Dome is a beautiful game that is sure to please players who are fans of the simple, yet deep, gameplay mechanic. It does have problems, though, and I can't overlook them. Regardless, I'm hooked.

Zombie Gunner is a well-made game that will get players ready for both Halloween and the inevitable zombie apocalypse.

A solid game that never quite manages to justify its own existence. Anyone who checks it out will probably have a fun experience, there are just so many other games that offer that same experience.

Aplexia is a well crafted puzzle game that requires the player to think intelligently and plan ahead. Although it suffers from some faults that slightly detract from the experience.

For a game that costs absolutely nothing, World Series of Yahtzee manages to provide many interesting and awesome twists on the traditional formula.

For both long-time fans of the Paper Toss series and newcomers alike, most people will definitely find Paper Toss Friends appealing.

For the most part, there haven't been many pushes to spend additional money and for this I am grateful. I do however think that the quality of the game would merit a download price. The developers have done a good job at giving players an addictive and fun game at no cost. I'd recommend giving it a try.

The 3D endless runner genre could use more games like Zaxxon Escape, ones that try to do something new with their concepts. It doesn't always succeed, but it is still a fun take on the genre.

For a quick, simple play, the earlier levels of Wimp offer quite a bit, and as the play progresses there is a bit of an increase in difficulty not just in puzzles, but how the platforming functions. Thankfully, as I stated, unless going for the completionist route, there is plenty to do without getting too frustrated.

Risk and its sundry clones are great and all, but games like World Conqueror 2 take the genre to a more realistic next level without compromising playability. It's not perfect, but at $2.99 it's worth exploring.

Thankfully, having long ago lost my need for perfection, I was able to continue ever onward and enjoy the zany story for what it was, moving from colons to brains and many organs between. There is quite a bit to enjoy about Tentacles: Enter the Dolphin, and it has high production values. Just be prepared for some level of frustration.

Fun, easy to play, good looking and plenty of challenge. Snail Bob seems like it would be great for kids, too. Definitely worth playing!

Despite being a free-to-play experience with very visible flaws, Murder Room has a gripping enough thread to at least warrant checking out. Sure, you may only end up spending a few minutes poking around, but if you actually like the trial and error aspect of the gameplay, it will prove well worth the time.

Sugar Kid's core problem is that it refuses to abandon the visual and mechanical samplings that stretch it thin to pursue with conviction a clear thesis for what it wants to be. By no means is it outright bad. Rather, it realizes the one thing it continually asks you to prevent, its protagonist's greatest fear: being watered down.

According to Calis Projects Zenforms: Protectors is a work in progress. This much is obvious after a few minutes of play. The potential for greatness is certainly there, but it has a long way to go if it's going to be a contender in such a crowded market.

There's a lot of grinding involved, but Burrito Bison is fun while it lasts. It has a lot of potential to be a better game, so let's hope for a future update. For now, it's worth the dollar if gamers are looking for something zany and addicting to play for a few hours.

It's the opposite of Zaxxon Escape: I liked the game, someone more familiar with it was not a fan. I'm curious to hear what Re-Volt veterans think of it.

Even with the help of rapper Jay-Z selecting a stellar soundtrack for NBA 2K13, there seems to be a vast gap in between what the title aspires to be and what it delivers.

Fin Friends is definitely one of the countless endless-runner games out there that is actually worth picking up and I've really enjoyed playing it so far.

For the most part, the level design is quite quirky and amusing, however. The difficulty is a rather steep curve later on, but it ramps up to it quite nicely to start. Overall, a positive experience, if perhaps one I felt I've had before in many other occasions.

I didn't think Gameloft could do a worse job with free-to-play than they did with Let's Golf 3, but they sure did! Now please Gameloft, just stop. This is embarrassing.
