I feel like Majesty came out of nowhere. I suppose as someone who was never able to sample most of the PC's classics it kind of did. I'm glad I finally had the chance to play it this time around, and I hope that it gets all the attention it so rightly deserves.

The Room: Old Sins is an incredible game. It creates an amazing sense of place, peppers it with uniquely detailed objects and puzzles, and paces it all out in a way that makes playing it a pure delight. There may be some times where it isn’t so easy to understand how you are supposed to move forward, but these moments are so few and far between that they’re easy to look past.

SPY Mouse has been "two years in the making," and it shows. It might "just" be a line-drawing game, but it's one of the best and most thought-out line drawing games on the App Store.

I have every faith in Chillingo making the multiplayer into something that doesn't induce rage, but right now I'd rather avoid it. Thankfully the singleplayer portion of Spice Invaders is more than enough to satisfy. Barring the occasional ad there's hardly any way of knowing that this is a free-to-play game. Even with the somewhat questionably walled-off content, Star Warfare: Alien Invasion is still an excellent and rewarding game. Seriously, I'm kind of geeking out about it. It took me longer than intended to finish writing this because I got caught up in a "research" match. Yeah.

Briquid is a solid puzzler that really challenges the brain cells. The levels are quite challenging and the retro appeal works well. It’s definitely at the top of my recommendation list for the year. Those who like to try before they buy can check out Briquid Free.

Duckers is unique fun, even in the crowded endless genre on iOS. It's cute fun for all ages, and despite the clever naming and presence of Mother Duckers, it's worth playing beyond that novelty.

Star Legends is as much a feat of technical impressiveness as it also successful as a casual MMORPG experience. This is a genre that is teeming with potential, but thanks in part to games just wanting to directly copy World of Warcraft, has become stale, and overly demanding of players.

It will give you countless hours of gameplay and hits that perfect sweet spot between individual level play time and strategy.

For fans of the side-scrolling shoot-em-up, Apocalypse Max delivers quite a lot in a fairly compact package. Requiring a fair amount of concentration, but never overly harsh, it wants you to be a survivor and will equip you with the appropriate weapon to do so.

The only thing missing is any sort of social gaming network integration. This is a game that screams for achievements and leaderboards, and I hope to see some in an update soon.

Hank Hazard is a fantastic physics puzzler. Amongst an App Store heaving with the genre, Hank Hazard stands tall, making it an unbeatable example.

The game is artistically wonderful, the gameplay is creative yet not repetitive, and there's replay value for those who want it. I can't praise this fantastic indie platformer enough.

This story within a story includes a traditional Squamish tale. A truly memorable experience.

Modern Combat 3 looks great, no question, but it's the smaller details like animations and the occasional slow-motion kill shot that really draw the eye.

It's not my favorite app, but it's definitely one of the most polished in my library, and absolutely takes advantage of the fantastic iDevice hardware.

Infinite Fall’s celebrated narrative adventure finally finds its way to mobile, and it’s a nearly perfect experience that has aged tremendously well.

Sprinkle makes fighting fire with physics (and water, of course) a heck of a lot of fun.

The iOS conversion is pretty good, even despite the screen restrictions, and it's all forgiven when you're wrapped up in the storyline so much. It's an expensive purchase but one that will offer you dozens of hours of memorable gameplay.

Fiz lets players live out a career as a craft brewer in this clever and charming management game.

I was disappointed that there was no multiplayer included in the game, but there's always room for new game modes in future updates. Even with no multiplayer, it is still one of the best all around boxing games in the App Store.

There is certainly enough gameplay variety, as well as sheer amounts of levels, to keep you entertained for quite a long time.

Reaper: Tale of a Pale Swordsman is a fun and engaging action RPG for phones and one of the best iPhone games I have played this year.

For a quick, simple play, the earlier levels of Wimp offer quite a bit, and as the play progresses there is a bit of an increase in difficulty not just in puzzles, but how the platforming functions. Thankfully, as I stated, unless going for the completionist route, there is plenty to do without getting too frustrated.

The Ultimate Team is the perfect way to experience free-to-play.

Wizards and Wagons successfully blends a number of genres to make for an unforgettable trading adventure.

A creative and addictive physics puzzler where players are tasked with feeding light to a hungry basil plant that’s lost in a world of darkness.

For the most part, there haven't been many pushes to spend additional money and for this I am grateful. I do however think that the quality of the game would merit a download price. The developers have done a good job at giving players an addictive and fun game at no cost. I'd recommend giving it a try.

Fiete is a charming, stylized app full of mini games young children will enjoy.

With all of the mini-games, items, equipment and storyline, Juggernaut: Revenge of Sovering is one of the better and most complex RPGs I've seen on the App Store in a while.

Slight issues with the continue system aside, Hoppenhelm is a great arcade game. Hopping, chopping, and blocking all feel great, there’s a fair sense of challenge, and there are unlocks to keep you working toward something on every run. There’s very little not to like here, so hop on over to the App Store and give it a download.

Pillowcapers: A Sleepy Adventure is an interactive storybook that is superlative in every way.

If you love arcade racers, Raging Thunder 2 is one of the best available for the iPhone/iPod Touch platform.

If you're only in it for multiplayer, you might feel a little restricted with only 5 maps and 5 guns to choose from, but the single player campaign more than makes up for this. I was truly impressed by the quality that's gone into it.

It's a perfect distraction for days when playing the real game outdoors isn't an option.

An enjoyable game that is sure to occupy players for hours on end. The cute graphics, fun gameplay, and the allure of collecting coins will make it irresistible to many players.

Negatives aside, Puzzling Penguins 2 is a charming little puzzle game, and will keep gamers' attention for a good while.

Crying Suns puts more than a simple twist on a tried-and-true formula. It combines multi-faceted systems with a unique narrative structure in ways that breathe new life and mystery into something that initially appears derivative. Despite a few UI quirks, Crying Suns is a refreshing sci-fi roguelite experience, and the mobile port features the modern conveniences (like save syncing) you'd want for on-the-go play.

Aside from these minor gripes, Tower Defense: Lost Earth is a fantastic game. One that genre lovers and armchair generals should not miss.

It nails everything a fantastic puzzler should: simplicity, addictiveness, catchy music and overall polish.

It's a fantastic cerebral challenge, simply put, and the story and high presentation values merely add to the full ensemble of greatness.

Don't miss this spiky gem. If putting that shiny new iPad or iPhone to great gaming use is the journey, Crazy Hedgy is the destination.

A little more logic to the galaxy maps, and a bit more information on the hats thing would be nice, but otherwise this is an almost perfectly executed game. Served in small fun helpings, Rocket Bunnies is a must-have.

The amount of content and additionally promised levels definitely make the $0.99 price tag worth the investment for the Pocket version. Players ready for a new casual game will find a friend in Captain Cat as they follow him and his boat catching everything he can.

Within moments I was totally floored by Project 83113's mechanics, action, and style. Don't be fooled by the cuddly mascot like I was at first; this is a fantastic action/platforming game that's well worth playing.
