To get started, as a fan Lorde, I must admit that I was not expecting this kind of album at all, although I am really glad she created It because I think It is so cool when an artist does different music! Plus, I love the chill vibe the record has. My favourite song is «Fallen fruit»! :)

A true masterpiece. She’s making music people can connect with, music that makes you transcend. Lorde’s mainstream days are over, and the evolution show in this album shows how much more she has to give then being confined to a radio formula.

Lorde explores different sounds way chiller than her previous works. Beachy, 60s, 90s and 00s vibes, soothing genres, opposite to nowadays music. But definitely the highlight are her vocals! And her writing shouldn't be looked over: from satire, experiences to truths revealed in each track. I swear I can feel the sea when listening to Oceanic Feeling. não o melhor da carreira dela, mas defintivamente melhor que alguns albuns e virais que sairam desse ano. é diferente do que ela fez em outras coisas, mas isso não o torna ruim, imagina ser artistas e não te trazer sons e coisas diferentes em suas obras.

I really love the state of mind that she’s in, I’m happy for my Ella. Expand

The album encaptulate the whole young adult life and experience. Lorde is the kind of artist that narrates story based on life experience and she is now a 24 yr old woman who have real struggles in life. She's not 19 and on fire anymore. People need to move on and stop expecting a melodrama 2.0

Unambitious and disappointing. While there are a few alright songs, the last half really loses the album's momentum. If this was released by any other artist, it would be completely unremarkable.

Her flow and use of production and her true style pulls through throughout the entire album. Tracks like the Path, Stoned at the nail salon, Solar power, and her usage of reference to religion although I can consider vain with verses "Prettier than Jesus" did not go down with me listening to it originally, but the rest of the album does deliver on the sound and vibe she is well known for! Highly recommend to listen while sipping cocktails on the beach side! The album delivered accordingly to her style! Worth to listen to it more than once! Love it! Expand

One of the best albums of the year.
People are disappointed because Solar power is different from Melodrama, but Lorde is not a artist who sticks to one style. She explores new sounds for every album, which not a lot of artists do these days

The album as a whole is completely an abstract masterpiece. Coming from a die-hard Lorde fan I grew up listening to PH in intermediate school and then the amazing and unforgettable Melodrama in my last years of high school. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Lorde's all grown up from her chaotic teen phases seen in Pure Heroine and Melodrama, and Solar Power is the shiny emblem testifying to her maturity, both in terms of songwriting and lyrical content. The new album sees our favorite singer craft the most original sounds, and the most resonating lyrics yet. Yes, it might not be as climatic and to-the-point and catchy as its predecessors, but Solar Power shows a different, and perhaps even more lovable, side of Lorde we should learn to embrace. Expand

Antonoff's parts in producing Solar Power create a repetitive and almost unfinished feel throughout the album. As a Lorde fan I am quite biased, so of course the album did grow on me with its use of psychedelic elements, slowed tempo, and less than average song lengths. This truly was her "weed" album, and I give her a round of applause for making this project as Ella. Expand

I really loved Solar Power with my heart. It's not as somepeople say, they say that just because it get fad. Disclaim yourself and "stay as long as you need to get familiar with the feeling" so you can fully apreciate this work. She do that again and i just love it.

I have been working during my final years in college. When the pandemic hit, I decided to go back to my parent's house on an island. I have been here for 6 months now and have been listening to the album since its release. This album is so special to me because it feels like a friend, a home, or an older and wiser version of me.

All these connections Lorde is trying to make: her strange pastiche imagination of the ’70s, that random spoken word interlude by Robyn about climate change, and the themes of “sun healing,” never fully reach each other. Often, they come off as disingenuous and out of touch more than they read as brilliant, or comical. Whether the album is one big prank, or just one majorly failed experiment, the gist of having the “privilege to ignore” is lost in translation. All you are left with is just a handful of pretty alright songs.

If you're riding and vibing with Lorde, this bright shapelessness is superb mood music. If you're not riding her wave, Solar Power can seem elusive, even cloying, as it circles and sways with a smile.

This might not be the album that everyone wanted from Lorde, but it’s a solid, dreamy effort that deserves exploration. There’s plenty here worthy of attention if you can focus for long enough.
