I love this album so much, it's just a chill, sunny, type of album with nice summer vibes. It's so different from what Lorde has been done with the last two albums. It's not for everyone, but I personally love it, it's very calming

I love Lorde! She's my favorite singer, but I'm disappointed! I always try to be open minded when an artist I like change their sound or voice, but I really love Lorde from "Pure Heroine" her deep voice and the beats... I love Melodrama too, I heard it so much that it would be ruined if it was a fisical CD, so I expected more from this one! :/

I'm completely in love with this album. Lorde did an amazing job, the lyrics are softly and relaxing. I felt like I was on the beach in New Zealand when I listened the album for the first time.

Solar power is a lyrical masterpiece and a technique magnum opus lorde goes through multiple layers and themes the aesthetics are absolutely stunning and the lush backing vocals on the track adds some variation with the opener The Path it's a up beat track about not being a savior and her younger self with that going to the closer oceanic feeling a 6 min track that keeps me engaged the more I listen I absolutely loved this track and I wanna see more lorde! Doesn't top Melodrama but it doesn't feel like it's trying to, it's a perfect summer record. My only complaint is that quite a few of the songs have a similar sound I wish she'd have switched some of them up a bit while still keeping that same mellow tone. Still amazing. Highlights for me are Fallen Fruit, Big Star and Stoned at the Nail Salon.

O álbum está incrível, Lorde continua mostrando que é sim o futuro da música como David Bowie disse e prova que nunca estará acomodada num estilo musical pois ela é muito criativa e talentosa pra se limitar.

Solar Power is a collection of subdued songs, which are quite similar to each other with only few elements tearing them apart. Just like Taylor Swift's folk albums, songs from Solar Power can be an okay background music with only few standout tracks. The title tracks shows that Lorde knows how to build-up the song, while "Mood Ring" has nice production choices.

In my opinion, Lorde has received mixed/negative reviews for this album, and this album is her taking her own turn. This is a huge contrast to Melodrama and Pure Heroine, as she experiments with acoustic tranquility reminiscent of Lana Del Rey, Billie Eilish, and Olivia Rodrigo (to an extent). Songs I recommend from the LP are Mood Ring, Fallen Fruit, and Solar Power (the title track). In my opinion, Lorde has received mixed/negative reviews for this album, and this album is her taking her own turn. Most of the album was a pleasant listening experience, but I think that Stoned At The Nail Salon could have more potential, and Oceanic Feeling seemed a little too long for an outro. All in all, an album that comes as a shock to most, and possibly the beginning to some more experimental chill alt-pop.

É um álbum puro e limpo com muito sentimentalismo, apesar de algumas faixas serem muito fracas, a sonoridade do álbum é diferente de tudo que Lorde já fez e é isso que o torna interessante.

It's not what I expected to start off. I was surprised in fact. This kind of music is something that people appreciate and understand more in the long run. I constantly feel like I'm being transported to some aesthetically pleasing tropical island. It feels like a whole vacation trip, an escape, and I'm living for it. I love the psychedelic mood that was present all throughout the album, it is also one of the most sonically pleasing album that was ever created. It's magical, enchanting, hallucinogen casting which I may say is rarely felt in music nowadays. I love her artistic growth, looking forward to more wonderstrucking works from her. Expand

Beautiful songwriting, as lorde herself said: no weak lines on this one. Such new soundscapes and style but you can still hear that lorde stamp within, it is definitely a great timeless production.

So different from her previews work, but definitely an amazing album! Great songs, beautiful lyrics and sounds, that in a couple years we will hear in every artist.

The album was very underwhelming after such a masterpiece like Melodrama. It would’ve been less upsetting if she released it earlier so people wouldn’t have raised expectations to a high level. Cute beach album but that’s all.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Solar Power Is Singer/Songwriter Lorde’s (Born Ella Marija Lani Yelich O’Connor) Long Awaited Third Studio Album Following Her Massively Well Received “Melodrama” Released In 2017. Ella Is Notorious Of Reinventing Herself And She Didn’t Miss This Time Either! Pure Heroine (Her First Record) Was A Darker, More Teenage Angst Album. Melodrama Had A Futuristic, Modern Day Mood. Solar Power Now Takes on The “Sunlight” and “Heavenly” Feeling. The Path Is The Perfect Opening Track With The Strong Vocals And Soft Yet So Prominent Guitar. The Title Track Is A Nice Introduction To The Album Even-Though It Is More Of A Generic Sound For The Artist. California and Stoned At The Nail Salon Are More Stripped Back And Lyrically/Vocally Stronger. Fallen Fruit Is A Multicoloured And Perfect Balance Of What You’d Want In The Way That It Has A Rightly-Placed Beat-Drop. Secrets From A Girl (Who’s Seen It All) Is A Poppy, Upbeat Tune Enhancing Yelich-O’Connor’s Power To Reach All Aspects Of The Alternative/Pop Genre. The Man With The Axe Is The Perfect Way To Fizzle Out And Is Lyrically Stunning. Dominoes Once Again Is A More Upbeat Song Linking To A Coming-Of-Age Soundtrack. Big Star Is An Extremely Melody About Her Now Passed Dog “Pearl” And Knowing That Makes It 10x Sadder As This Was Written Before He Left Us, Probably The Rawest Song On The Record Leading Into The Interlude Like Track... Leader Of New Regime Is Really Well Tailored To The Aesthetics And Purpose Of The Record. Mood Ring In My Opinion Should’ve Been The Lead Single, Being Versatile To All Audiences Making A Highly Powerful Vocal Arrangement, The Pop 00s Feel Is Perfect Way To Blend Into The End Of The Record. Oceanic Feeling Is A Perfect Lyrically Enchanting Song And Probably The Best At It!
My Only Critiques With This Album Is That Oceanic Feeling Should Have Been A Bit Shorter. Leader Of New Regime Should’ve Been Longer. Mood Ring Should’ve Been The Lead Single! Other Reviewers Are Trying To Compare This Record To Her Previous “Melodrama” With People Allegedly Wanting A “Melodrama 2.0” According To Fans.

An incredibly cohesive sound for this long-awaited third album. It's like waking up sunburnt at 4PM wondering what life really means, but gently, without blaming yourself, with grown awareness of what it means to be young (but not that young anymore) and alive (in a world that's dying). Not an easy one to listen to, but it caresses and blesses you with warm, tired sunlight. Loved it.

Lorde's Solar Power is the dreamy, euphoric and self-reflecting album that will heal your wounds from riding through Lorde's violent wave of emotions of her past two albums.

All these connections Lorde is trying to make: her strange pastiche imagination of the ’70s, that random spoken word interlude by Robyn about climate change, and the themes of “sun healing,” never fully reach each other. Often, they come off as disingenuous and out of touch more than they read as brilliant, or comical. Whether the album is one big prank, or just one majorly failed experiment, the gist of having the “privilege to ignore” is lost in translation. All you are left with is just a handful of pretty alright songs.

If you're riding and vibing with Lorde, this bright shapelessness is superb mood music. If you're not riding her wave, Solar Power can seem elusive, even cloying, as it circles and sways with a smile.

This might not be the album that everyone wanted from Lorde, but it’s a solid, dreamy effort that deserves exploration. There’s plenty here worthy of attention if you can focus for long enough.
