The music has a lot of space which allows you to sit in between and ponder and contemplate. The songs take you on a ride through the moods and thoughts of an artist who is in the middle of figuring out how to take her music in a different direction, we are watching her grow. You need the Sun to grow and solar power provides this.

No entiendo como no le dan el reconocimiento que merece esta joya de álbum, entiendan que melodrama es una biblia insuperable. Expand

This album is a slow burn/grower. It was just ok at first listen. I replayed a few tracks that were stuck in my head but the rest was pretty forgettable. There are certain albums I relate to on a personal level because it coincides with major life moments: heartbreak, love, loss/grief, etc, but this one fills the gaps with what I think/worry about in between those bigger moments. Lorde has always been ahead of her time and I truly believe this record will be a cult classic and appreciated years later. Expand

As a Real fan of her first 2 albums I had hopes for this release. Unfortunately it is slow, drawn out and generally dull. She’ll be back. I have faith! But give this one a miss.

It's different, still it's Lorde. It takes time to appreciate it but once you do, it's addictive. Just because you don't understand it doesn't mean it's not good.

Fascinante como a Lorde expressa sei amadurecimento através de um som mais orgânico, sensível e leve. Ela atinge esse objetivo, de trazer momentos do verão, momentos leves, as vezes contemplativos e nostálgicos, de renovação.

The emotions, the beats, the melody, harmonies, everything is amazing. amazing album, lorde had nothing to prove to us, she could do the trending sad album like a melodrama 2.0, but she followed her plan, she did what she wanted to do, not what we wanted for her to do.

Solar Power is Lorde's Album of Healing. It transcends you into this summer world of peace that you might have nostalgia for in this pandemic. Overall her return to nature after her teen angst and sonical trauma shows her power. And she says, "but you gotta want it for yourself".

While Lorde’s lyrics still cut deep as she reaches the quarter life mark. Introspective and tongue in cheek. Solar Power is another solid body of work. But listening to this album, you do wonder, if Lorde collaborated with a different producer instead of Jack, what would this album sound like?

People didn't like Melodrama at first, and today it's considered a pop classic. I'm sure this will go down in the books as a memorable album in a year or two. Every summer from now on will have Solar Power as it's soundtrack. It's beautiful and heartfelt.

The theming and the very mellow sound didn’t fully capture me, but there’s still too much good here to warrant a score below positive. Stream Fallen Fruit folks

Such a great new sound for Lorde. Beautiful and refined. Reminds me of happy summer days on the beach. Some things don’t have to be deep and intricate. Sometimes it’s nice to have something to sit and relax to.

We all have trouble listening to artists with a fresh set of ears. Of course we were all expecting the Lorde we’ve all come to know and love. Of course we were all expecting the Lorde we’ve all come to know and love. Sure, it isn’t the radio friendly edge that carried us through much of our highest moments pre-pandemic. However, this album is full of delicate introspection that serves a greater purpose: to remind the world of the vulnerabilities of our icons and our shared struggles and fears, especially global issues that are increasingly threatening life as we know it.

If you’re not a fan on the first listen, try listening with quality headphones and the lyrics in front of you— it is a sonically relaxing and lyrically enlightening experience. And try to appreciate and respect the human on the other side of the speaker, someone who like each of us, should not be creatively limited to the expectations of our peers.

All these connections Lorde is trying to make: her strange pastiche imagination of the ’70s, that random spoken word interlude by Robyn about climate change, and the themes of “sun healing,” never fully reach each other. Often, they come off as disingenuous and out of touch more than they read as brilliant, or comical. Whether the album is one big prank, or just one majorly failed experiment, the gist of having the “privilege to ignore” is lost in translation. All you are left with is just a handful of pretty alright songs.

If you're riding and vibing with Lorde, this bright shapelessness is superb mood music. If you're not riding her wave, Solar Power can seem elusive, even cloying, as it circles and sways with a smile.

This might not be the album that everyone wanted from Lorde, but it’s a solid, dreamy effort that deserves exploration. There’s plenty here worthy of attention if you can focus for long enough.
