    There are some really great songs on this albums and some songs I plan on never listening to again. It's far from her prime pop hits but album as a whole is just a message of empowerment which is great but it's been the same message through the entire album.

    This Album may have some "not perfect" songs, but the 80% of them is really good!! I love "Not the end of the world" and "Cry about it later", they are a bop in my opinion! I also like " Only love" and "Tucked". The one i skip everytime since the release is "Resilient", but is my choice, maybe for other the song is good; the second one that i don't love too much is "Smile", but apart fromThis Album may have some "not perfect" songs, but the 80% of them is really good!!     So the thing about Smile is that it's not a bad album by any means, hence why I don't really understand the poor reviews it's been receiving. In my opinion, it is a solid collection of fun pop songs that are bound to make you sing along and hum the melodies throughout the day. Katy has obviously learned a few lessons from the disastrous 'Witness' and she didn't mix woke politics with musicSo the thing about Smile is that it's not a bad album by any means, hence why I don't really understand the poor reviews it's been receiving. In my opinion, it is a solid collection of fun pop songs that are bound to make you sing along and hum the melodies throughout the day. Katy has obviously learned a few lessons from the disastrous 'Witness' and she didn't mix woke politics with music this time around; the producers and songwriters she collaborated with on Smile are also a step up from those on Witness since the entire album sounds very cohesive and well-produced. Some of my favorite moments on the album came in the form of "Teary Eyes," "Cry About It Later," and "Never Really Over" -- all of which are quite reminiscent of the Teenage Dream era, and a reminder why Katy is still a force to be reckoned with in the pop world. Besides the familiar Katy Perry sound, you'll also see/hear Katy exploring some new territories, most notably on "Harleys in Hawaii" which has become somewhat of a fan favorite due to how underrated it is. However, for the majority of the album -- Katy seems to stick to what works for her and I don't really see a problem with that. The only bone to pick I have with the album is how messy and all over the place the promotional cycle had been with Katy releasing too many singles before the album came out, so the element of surprise was greatly reduced for me as I was already familiar with like 35% of the album. Also, some of the singles were just not good single choices, e.g. "Daisies" and "Smile" are ok album tracks, but they're most certainly not strong single material.… Expand

El album comienza bien, pero el mismo llega a tener errores, pero los mismos no hacen malo al album, tal vez no sea perfecto el mismo, pero es agradable al escucharse. Por ejemplo el album llega a tener momentos cumbres como HIH, CP, NRO, etc, siendo estas canciones muy frescas y muy bien producidas. Pero el album tambien tiene momentos malos como Resilient donde la voz y el ritmo no van de acuerdo a lo que la canción trata de transmitir. Por otra parte mejora los ritmos a comparación de su anterior album "Witness". Principalmente este album es bueno, aunque tiene errores, pero es uno de los mejores trabajos de Katy Perry y verdaderamente se nota el esfuerzo y la mejora… Expand

    Katy Perry's returning to easy pop tunes with some personal lyrics. It's not really hard to hear and the beats are all radio friendly. The album gives us some kinda of cheese hope and this is good. I really don't understand the bad reviews cause the same critics have praise other singers for the reasons that Perry is being putting dow here on Smile album. This album is about Katy’s experience during the hardest years of her personal and career life and how she was able to come out of it and truly smile again. The album is one of the only albums this year that actually tells a story, the plot of the songs have meaning. This album is about Katy’s experience during the hardest years of her personal and career life and how she was able to come out of it and truly smile again. Tracks like “Cry About It Later” and “Teary Eyes” help unfold the first act of the album which shows her dealing with unhappiness but having to keep going for her career and well-being and just trying to ignore her sadness. The second act of the album is opened by her iTunes number one single “Daisies” and track 5 on the album “Resilient”. These songs are the empowerment stories of the album. Resilient explains Katy’s way of pushing back the hate and hard times she’s experienced and ultimately being resilient and pushing through to grow through the cracks that have hurt her. “I know the higher I climb, the harder the wind blows” is a lyric from Resilient and is explaining that when you reach your peak, is when life hits you the hardest. This is the middle of the album because Katy is past the sadness and she is using all her confidence and strength to push through to find her happiness again. Finally, Act III of the album is introduced by the title track “Smile”. The song is about how Katy got her smile back and that she’s grateful for her life. During the third act, we experience a release of pop bangers such as “Tucked” and “Only Love” that introduce the most pop-sounding and happy songs on the album. Além disso, o álbum conta uma história de forma coesa como nunca visto em nenhum lugar. A sonoridade também conversa com cada fase dessa história, o que torna a experiência de ouvi-lo incrível!

I mean, WHY NOT NOW? That’s the question I ask to them, like, every single human being on earth had plans for this year and they got cancelled/postponed, literally I think every single human on earth has felt like sh*t during these times and honestly (in my case) music is something that has been making me hold on, it’s given me something to hold on, literally all of the records released this year so far have been very important to me til this day and I think they always will exactly because I heard them for the first time in THESE TIMES, they gave me hope, happiness, joy, sadness, coziness, they lifted me up a HUNDRED TIMES when I was losing almost everything in me to keep fighting, they gave me a reason to SMILE. They made me dance, and though it was in my bedroom, they did. All f*cking records have done that to me, Future Nostalgia by Dua Lipa, Chromatica by Lady Gaga, folklore by Taylor Swift and now SMILE by Katy Perry. Not to mention the non-album (yet) songs that Miley, Cardi, Nicki, Doja, Selena, Ariana and all of them have given to us. Now, focusing on Smile, you have my word that this record will make you; (1) Smile (like it’s title); (2) Dance and (3) Feel better that you were feeling 1 minute before. Every single song gives you a different feeling, new motivation, fun, emotions, it’s honestly amazing. You will NOT be disappointed, I assure you that.     Without fleeting moments of bad taste, Perry does indeed sound mature, but she's also not quite as fun. That's a conscious choice, though. Smile is intended to evoke memories of her frivolous younger days while pointing toward a sustainable pop future.

    Like Joanne before Chromatica, Smile plays like a necessary centering exercise, indulging her insecurities and less surefire instincts. If Witness was overdetermined, Smile is an earnest exhale, for better or for worse. It delivers an image of her journey towards inner peace that is honest (if corny) and catchy (if not exactly inventive).
