    The album is AMAZING, Funny and Beautiful Lyrics It is something that makes you smile and be happy, it helps you too much in bad times and it is the best thing that Katy has made those songs so beautiful and happy, in my person they are very good, the album helped me to feel good when I was in difficult moments , just the rhythms, the vowels and its aural beauty are what make it good

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. After the tumultuous release around her 'Witness' era, Katy seemed on the right track for a comeback. 'Never Really Over' was an infectious slice of electro-pop with a killer chorus. The singles that followed though, were unmemorable and hollow. Going in different sonic directions and nothing really sticking out. Along with this, there seemed to be little actual depth or theme, with everything feeling slightly confused. When the album dropped, it felt like a non event, an artist releasing an album with a wimper. The content? Well the good thing is 'Cry About It Later' is a euphoric throwback to the sonics of the 80's, along with 'Champagne Showers'. The rest of the album feels deflated, a 'I'm sorry for Witness and this is how I healed' vibe that doesn't really go anywhere. No song pushes the envelope where pop music is concerned, which begs the question. If the artist feels half invested and keen to try and stay in a sonic familiar lane, whats the point?… Expand

    Smile is Katy’s most mature, organized, and focused album to date, each song flowing seamlessly into the next. From a tonal and narrative perspective, the album tells a consistent story - gradually transitioning from the lows to the highs. The record starts extremely strong - its first four tracks are all breezy, introspective, and sophisticated (particularly the pop masterpiece that isSmile is Katy’s most mature, organized, and focused album to date, each song flowing seamlessly into the next. From a tonal and narrative perspective, the album tells a consistent story - gradually transitioning from the lows to the highs. The record starts extremely strong - its first four tracks are all breezy, introspective, and sophisticated (particularly the pop masterpiece that is “Never Really Over,” which competes with “Teenage Dream” as Katy’s best song to date.) The album loses a little steam towards the middle, but manages to stay engaging on the more celebratory/romantic tracks (“Champagne Problems,” “Tucked”), and ends with the lovely “Only Love” and “What Makes a Woman.” Predictably, Smile is a pleasant extension of Prism’s adult contemporary second half (particularly the track “Resilient”), although the criticism of Perry’s use of self-empowerment cliches is fair. What makes the criticism of Smile so frustrating, however, is that the same critics who are now nostalgic for Teenage Dream (and who now call it a pop classic and a perfect album) were harshly critiquing said album just ten years ago. The critics curiously want Teenage Dream Katy back, but when Teenage Dream Katy was around, they didn’t appear to appreciate her either. When Katy experimented with new sounds on Witness, critics asked for her to stay in her lane; when she returned to bright pop on Smile, she’s accused of being boring and not taking chances.     At this point in her career, I feel like she's just doing whatever makes herself happy, and that's simply enough. Personally I think the album itself is a 7 to 8; however, because the critics have been too harsh on her, I would give her another point just for that.

    Smile manages to be better than its predecessor, Witness. But it is still behind the illuminated PRISM.
    NRO, CAIL, TE, CP, Tucked, HIH are the best tracks, the rest are, unfortunately, forgettable and expendable.

    O sorriso amarelou? Nem tanto. Katy entregou um álbum divertido e até interessante. Senti algumas boas mudanças dos álbuns interiores, mas ela entregando um pop um pouco mais maduro seria algo maravilhoso e que eu iria querer muito escutar. "Never Really Over" tá aí de prova que ela pode fazer isso e muito mais. Enfim, a felicidade da artista vem em primeiro lugar.

Because as Miss Perry mentioned, this would have combinations of its previous eras, as' Resilient 'recalls an experimental and risky' Witness', or as' Cry About It Later 'returns us to a pop-rock of the' One of the Boys', we can also mention the sensuality of 'Never Really Over' tying a disco touch with 'PRISM' and we must not forget the sweet and adolescent stage that 'Only Love' or 'Tucked' brings with 'Teenage Dream' . This is certainly a great album, with a hint of the old eras and re-incorporated sounds like 'What Makes a Woman' introducing a country song with electronic touches (an inspiration would be Kacey Musgraves with Oh, What a World). This album deserves rave reviews and a focus on the album, but not a focus on personal life and untimely comparison.… Expand

Each song has its unique style with the standouts being "Never Really Over" and "Cry About It Later", which highlight Katy's pop-dance music while "Not the End of the World" dives into Katy's trap pop style and'Smile' definitely shows Katy Perry's growth as an artists over the last 3 years.     After the Witness era Katy manages to deliver a more cohesive work. With better lyrics and good beats for the dance. Cry About Later is the best song on the album. But we have good times with Not The End Of The World CHAMPAGNE PROBLEMS in addition to the most emotional moments at the end like Only Love

    Katy Perry did what she promised she would do: an album full of bops. Not only she found her smile embracing herself, as the popstar she is but is also finally releasing the music she wants unapologetically. Smile is a delight from start to finish - even Harleys In Hawaii, that on a first listen feels out of place on the album, ends up fitting the feel-good narrative.

    Podría haber sido un mejor álbum. Para mi tiene buenos aciertos, como Smile, Cry About it Later y Never Really Over, pero el resto del Album no destaca la voz de Katy y las melodías no son muy llamativas. No es un mal álbum, pero podría haber sido mejor

    I genuinely think this is Katy second best album. You can tell the hard work that is on this record. It really frustrate me how critics are reviewing more Katy as a person and comparing her with other artist than the actual album

    you just don't feel any connection with the album is like the sound and lyrics are not too special and it's pretty forgettable, nothing to compare to Perry's prior albums that at least had two or three potential smash hits.

    The main problem with the album is how forgettable it is. There are no catchy choruses and the production is very mild. This album feels like almost an afterthought. With Witness, while it might have been a mixed bag of songs, at least you remembered the ones that stood out and it has decent production. With Smile, every song feels very tired and outdated.

    This is a good pop album, it's nothing wow or very very special, it's good and it's Katy Perry essential, and the critic aren't judging the music, but the person, sadly.

    Simplemente un álbum extraordinario para disfrutarlo sin pasar ninguna canción, canciones como cry about it later, Not the end of the world, champagne problems entre otras de lo mejor del álbum, liricamente only love y resilient un aplauso para estas.

    smile is a cohesive album and extremely necessary for our current situation. Katy Perry begins to lock her listeners from the first to the last track, making it her best project in years.

    Without fleeting moments of bad taste, Perry does indeed sound mature, but she's also not quite as fun. That's a conscious choice, though. Smile is intended to evoke memories of her frivolous younger days while pointing toward a sustainable pop future.

    Like Joanne before Chromatica, Smile plays like a necessary centering exercise, indulging her insecurities and less surefire instincts. If Witness was overdetermined, Smile is an earnest exhale, for better or for worse. It delivers an image of her journey towards inner peace that is honest (if corny) and catchy (if not exactly inventive).
