Ressalto sua composição intíma e matura sobre ficar bem consigo, sobretudo, suas linhas criativas e sutís.     This album didn't live up to my expectations, I mean, in many songs the production reminded me of Prism, her 3rd studio album. Tracks like "smile" or "resilient" were one of those (I have to say that I love how Katy's voice    Katy Perry has given us her fifth studio album titled "Smile" in which one we go through many personal issues, self love and how Katy has been getting her smile back.
    This album didn't live up to my expectations, I mean, in many songs the production reminded me of Prism, her 3rd studio album. Tracks like "smile" or "resilient" were one of those (I have to say that I love how Katy's voice sounds on "resilient"). Her voice sounds sweet and angelical in every single track, so I don't have to say anything about that. In tracks like "Harley's in Hawaii", "champagne problems" and "not the end of the world" I enjoyed the production, specially when the beat drops on the chorus. The tropical sound on "harley's in Hawaii", the disco sound on "champagne problems" and the trap sound on "not the end of the world" literally makes me love those tracks (although "not the end of the world" reminds me of witness). Songs like what "makes a woman", "daisies" and "only love" are beautiful balads that share a message about Katy's point of view in many stuffs like how she sees a Woman, how she feels about all the hate that she received before and what she would do if the world was ending. "Cry about it later", and "teary eyes" share the similar message, leaving her saddens behind and start the process of getting her smile back. "Tucked" and "Never really over" are tracks with a jolly sound that makes you dance. "Never really over" is a break up song while "tucked" is a song about how Katy feels with her lover.
    To conclude, Smile isn't a great comeback for katy, but an improvement after Witness. It deserves a Grammy nomination, I must confess.    … Expand

    Katy Perry mixes strong lyrics with good Pop music. Smile could look like a patch since many of the songs had already been released, but they manage to give a good continuity within the album. It's not your best album, but it's a good album.

    Despite the rough critics, I personally think that this is Katy´s best album so far, not just because of the sonority, but also because of its mature and personal lyrics. Maybe the issue with this whole era was its lack of promotion...

Never Really Over abre bien todo el concepto del álbum y Smile te lo profundiza mejor, contando en ambos su vídeo, siento que cada canción (o cada dos), podrían contar una mini historia. Se nota que Katy tomó este álbum como una oportunidad de seguir con sus fans, al inicio, en NRO, cuando habla sobre que pasaron 2 años (su vídeo fue lanzado en 2019), se refiere a la historia que sigue después de Witness. Simplemente, los fans rompieron con Katy, sin embargo, ella no lo supera y quiere volver con ellos. Smile, el álbum que trata de atrapar a los que la dejaron, de sonreír a pesar de tener lágrimas, que aún hay esperanzas, etc.
    Se siente la inspiración de los álbumes anteriores, trata de rescatar lo mejor de ella y lo que ven de ella. CAIL es una canción pegajosa, te da las fuerzas ya que es triste y al mismo tiempo alegre. Mientras, Teary Eyes, tiene una lírica en la que te juzgas a ti mismo y luego sientes la canción muy bailable y alegre. HIH o Tucked son esas canciones tranquilas de amor, mientras Only Love trata sobre las otras formas de amor (amistad, familiar, conyugal, etc) Daisies y CP son dedicadas a su hija y esposo, sinceramente este álbum es muy personal y al mismo tiempo, un regalo para sus fans.    … Expand

    In "Smile", Katy Perry gives us more of the same but with a point more than her previous album. By far "Harleys In Hawaii" is the best on the album. Her smile once again makes us blush and ask at the same time, where is she going to go? Hopefully it's to a better place. The album stays true to its style and classic pastelos pop that runs from 7 to 10.

It's charming; the tunes are largely fine, the overall production is of high quality, the singing is truthfully better than ever, and the lyricism ranges from decent to awful. There are some tracks worth visiting after first-listen: the effervescent Never Really Over, the retro-minded Tucked, the triumphant Daisies, and golden nuggets like Cry About It Later and Teary Eyes.     The storytelling is sooo goood but... some of the songs didn't lack of power but it reminds me of her older works, she scrapped the beats and put it in the songs (some)... my favorite is Only Love I instantly in love to it and Cry About It Late this connects to her song TOTGA which I really love. That's All.

    She didn't evolve very artistically on this album, but it's great to hear. Some songs are very repetitive, but as a whole it is a happy and unpretentious album. The highlights are in the songs: Harleys In The Hawai, Never Really Over, Daisies, Cry About It Latter and Tucked.

I can say Cry About It Later, Tucked, & Daises are my favorite's. These songs all represent a sexy, fun, & positive side of Katy that just makes me feel good. But there are some songs I'm on a rough side about. Teary Eyes, Harley's in Hawaii, & Only Love. Teary Eyes & Harley's in Hawaii are songs trying to be fun but completely fail. Only Love has a great, amazing message but the production and some of the lyrics just failed. The album is in my opinion one of the best Katy Perry albums and it sucks that some of the songs ruined the message and theme of the album.… Expand

Cry about it later - Beautiful production and powerful lyric. (Lead Single potential) 3. Teary eyes - powerful electro pop middtempo with super relatable lyrics (single potential) 4. Daises - cute. Goes really well with the album. Shouldn’t have been the lead. (Promo potential) 5. Resilient - boring. A skip. Relatable lyrics but boring and predictable production. The build up in the PC / Climax leads to nothing. (There were moments I hated Katy’s voice) 6. Not the end of the world - Epic. A perfect combo between classic Katy (unconditionally) with what’s popular now on the radios. An amazing song. (Single potential) 7. Smile - a toothbrush comercial for target. Horrible and a total skip. Ruined the vibe. 8. Champagne problems - cute lyric but hated the repetition bc it was unnecessary and boring. It lacks a hook in the beat of the chorus. However It is a good song. (Reminds me to dua lipa’s “love again”)

    I disagree with the rating that the critics gave to this album, because I feel like, this it's not so bad as they say. He's a bit overrated by his fans, but I don't consider him an 'musical abomination' either.
    It's a very 'Katy Perry-style' album, and I'd give it a 63 rating because it's not that bad. I consider it fun and a bit good

    Very well produced , nice vocals , amazing cover art designs but not an improvement from witness . I personally loved witness i know some people didn't . Witness proved Katy can do so much better and more but this album minus some very good songs feels extermely generic and made to please audience . So happy for her and her new family but she can do so much better .

It really sucks that the roll out took forever and half the album was released as singles before the album was released. Nonetheless, Never Really Over is still a great track, perhaps the albums best. The album is filled with the same motivational and empowering lyrics you would expect from Katy but its still good and the production is good as well. Her vocal performance in Daisies and Resilient is commendable. The club anthem , Teary Eyes was also another highlight for me and i think its a great addition to her catalog. The gospel inspired Only Love is also another solid tune on the album which showcases more depth and emotion. What Makes a woman is also a great song with solid lyrics and production. All in all i think the disappointment i have from this album is more to do with the roll out rather than the actual album itself.… Expand

    Me parece una ccanción muy bailable y adictiva. La letra de un amor que nunca acabó pero también se puede tomar como ella con los katycats después de Witness.
    Cry About it Later: 7.0
    A pesar de ser el simple track más popular por parte de los fans por su buen ritmo, personalmente no me agrada por su pobreza en lírica, mas le doy mérito por su buen ritmo y técnica vocal de Katy.
    Teary Eyes: 6.0
    Parece el remix feliz de una balada triste, no suena bien cómo empieza con muchos "Have you ever.." como si fuera una clase de inglés xd. Sin embargo, el final fue muy bueno, con sus "keep on dancing", ahí sí encaja bien esa felicidad que se guardó Katy en casi toda la canción.
    Daisies: 7.0
    Esta canción suena muy bien, es como un Teary Eyes pero mejorado, ahí sí se muestra las ganas de salir adelante y su instrumental acompaña muy bien la voz de pesar que se puede escuchar al inicio y cuando Katy dice "Daises, daisies, daisies", y el final que muestra la energía y fuerza que tiene.
    Resiliente: 8.0
    Personalmente, tiene el mejor vídeo en TSS, a parte que la letra muestra mucha resilencia, fuerza y optimismo por parte de Katy, aunque no tenga el ritmo bailable de NRO, creo que su melodía y ritmo es aceptable, algo que quiero decir es que Katy pudo aprovechar mejor su técnica vocal.
    Not The End of the world: 8.0
    Ignorando su vídeo, el cual le hizo baja puntuación, pero no tanto ya que me parece aceptable considerando que fue después de dar a luz; esta sería la 2° mejor canción del álbum, con sonidos trap/pop muy fuertes y el coro impecable, su letra le da mucho empoderamiento a Katy, y letras como "si el cielo se cae, me agarro de una estrella" son las que Katy debería de componer más.
    Smile: 7.0
    Su vídeo fue muy buena, teniendo significado un tanto personal como las cosas que hacen feliz a Katy: Orlando Bloom, Daisy Dove Bloom, vencer los miedos y volver a tener a su fandom. Sin duda un gran vídeo, y la letra también es aceptable, sobre la canción, el instrumental se repite un poco pero la melodía me gustó, y combina bien musicalmente con la temática de clown.
    Champagne Problems: 7.0
    Me gusta como trata de cantar sobre los problemas de la relación, pero que sin importar eso siguen juntos, suena como a Orlando Bloom pero quién sabe. Su música es muy buena, bailable y su video en TSS dejó mucho que desear, el outfit de Katy fue hermoso, pero no hay más que ella bailando.
    Tucked: 7.5
    Su sonido es muy bailable, muy ella, amo cómo juega con la comida tratando de hablar de su dieta pero mostrándolo como una relación de infidelidad, y su final tiene un buen plot twist, por algo ella es la reina de los vídeos y Tucked la mejor de Smile. La técnica vocal fue agradable y estable.
    Harleys In Hawaii: 8.5
    Esta canción es muy sensual, y a pesar de ser lenta, es bailable y agradable de escuchar, muy pegajosa por su coro. El vídeo fue muy bueno, aunque pudo ser mejor. La voz de Katy se luce bien.
    Only Love: 7.0
    Una canción triste, lenta pero te da a pensar sobre el amor en estos tiempos, sobre como una persona no aprecia a todos, se vuelve más triste si decimos que esta fue una carta de Katy en sus malos momentos, pero logró superar eso y tener una sonrisa, hubiera sido un buen outro.
    What Makes A Woman: 7.0
    El vídeo fue bueno, me hizo llorar por todas esas historias, en especial lo hermoso que es la maternidad mostrada en TSS. La canción pudo tener un mejor ritmo, pero es aceptable para la letra que tiene de apreciar a la mujer por ser un perfecto misterio como ella dice, ella es feliz finalmente, por ser una mujer libre, por ser madre y ser ella misma.

    Smile: 6.5 / A pesar que el álbum nos trata de contar un tipo de historia de la sanación hacia la felicidad mediante el amor, siento que los ritmos no fueron iguales entre sí y la letra no resuelve la duda, parece como una playlist de ella si no sabes que es un álbum, sin embargo este ábum no fue malo después de todo, solo necesitaba tener un mejor enfoque y una temática ya planteada para TODAS las canciones.

This was not be Katy's best work in her career but it certainly was a step in a better direction than her previous Album "Witness" which imo was just an absolute trainwreck and awful but on this Record "Smile" which was her 6th Studio Album, this definitely turned out to be probably the most mature Album she has made which isn't to bad honestly. NowI honestly really love this Album a lot. Now this Album soundwise was pretty hit and miss, they were some excellent and amazing pop bangers on here like the lead single "Never Really Over" which dropped in May 2019 which was her first Billboard Top 20 Hit in a while which was well deserved considering how great that track is. "Not The End of The World" is 100% the most underrated track from this Album cause of how amazing and great the beat was on there and also how catchy and **** perfect Katy's vocals were on that track I absolutely loved it. Tucked was also another fantastic and very relatable track imo with a much more softer sound to it which was pretty amazing. But as much good as there were on here I do have to say that this Record even tho it was really better than "Witness' was still a pretty meh Album in some cases like with the production on a majority of these songs being really bad or just not fitting the vibe of the song. But Yeah Katy definitely had some of her best work in a while on this record and I don't think its her Worst Album like I see many people saying it it, sure it's a bit too cheesy and lame and cliché with some of the self impowerment lines on here but I really like a majority of them honestly. So Yeah Overall I definitely am one of the people who actually really enjoys and loves this Record I think Katy did a fantastic job on it and it's a really Strong 7 out of 10 imo and I will also defend this Album honestly cause it's not like perfect or amazing but it really was a good Album.… Expand

    While other artists are making albums so you can dance in your house, Perry's "Smile" makes you think and reflect about your life until this moment. It is true some of the songs are forgettable but I believe Katy didn't want to make a commercial pop album.

    Smile lacks an engaging production, something that screams passion, same with Perry’s writing, instead of hovering on the surface of the emotion she tries to provoke, she could dig deep and straightup go literal with the happiness, hope, and resilience she wants to project.

    Without fleeting moments of bad taste, Perry does indeed sound mature, but she's also not quite as fun. That's a conscious choice, though. Smile is intended to evoke memories of her frivolous younger days while pointing toward a sustainable pop future.

    Like Joanne before Chromatica, Smile plays like a necessary centering exercise, indulging her insecurities and less surefire instincts. If Witness was overdetermined, Smile is an earnest exhale, for better or for worse. It delivers an image of her journey towards inner peace that is honest (if corny) and catchy (if not exactly inventive).
