    Katy Perry teaches us to go through a dark journey learning lessons of healing, resilience, positivity and true love to find the light at the end of the tunnel. The album is about getting our smile back and it definitely achieves it with sounds, lyrics, and an amazing female voice. Easly, 2020 it's better with this album now.

Smile com certeza, ao contrário do que a crítica (que se diz especializada mas na verdade parece ter um certa implicância com a cantora) é um album incrível, onde todas as músicas apresentam grande potencial para serem singles. Nesse album Katy se entrega e mostra toda a sua fragilidade, narrando a busca pela recuperação de seu sorriso que havia sido perdido após a era Witness. Never Really Over abre o album perfeitamente sendo uma das melhores músicas já lançadas pela Katy, em seguida vem Cry About It Later que é um batidão com uma guitarra que acaba dando um charme no bridge e logo após temos Teary Eyes completando a trindade de bop's do album... essa é simplesmente linda e contagiante. Seguimos com Daises e Resilient com vocais poderosos e mensagens tão poderosas quanto. Not The End Of The é um hit pronto que parece ser uma filha de Dark Horse com Black Widow. Smile é algo bem próximo da clássica Katy que conhecemos. Champagne Problems e Tucked têm uma pegada mais retrô que combina muito com a cantora... são músicas extremamente radiofônicas e são muito boas em seu contexto todo. Harleys In Hawaii é uma música suave com a vibe bem gostosa, enquanto Only Love tem uma letra linda e arrepiante e What Makes a Woman fecha o album perfeitamente com a Katy finalmente se reconhecendo, superando e encontrando o que a faz feliz. É um album muito bem produzido e com hits dentro, mas que além disso passa uma mensagem linda de superação, perseverança e resiliência. Talvez seja o melhor album da cantora até o momento ou talvez só perca para o lendário Teenage Dream. Talvez daqui alguns anos os críticos reconheçam isso, como sempre acontece com os trabalhos anteriores de Perry, mas o fato é que isso não altera em nada a qualidade do album e nem quebra a mensagem passada.… Expand

    Without fleeting moments of bad taste, Perry does indeed sound mature, but she's also not quite as fun. That's a conscious choice, though. Smile is intended to evoke memories of her frivolous younger days while pointing toward a sustainable pop future.

    Like Joanne before Chromatica, Smile plays like a necessary centering exercise, indulging her insecurities and less surefire instincts. If Witness was overdetermined, Smile is an earnest exhale, for better or for worse. It delivers an image of her journey towards inner peace that is honest (if corny) and catchy (if not exactly inventive).
