    This album shows Taylor branching out into another new genre once again, but still keeping hints of country and pop scattered throughout. The lyrics are honestly poetic and her creativity appears heightened by writing about both real and fictitious stories, that any average person can still relate to.

    This album is unlike anything Taylor Swift has ever done. She continues to grow as an artist with each body of work she puts out. This is by far her most cohesive and mature album to date. Folklore encapsulates all of Swift's talents, and will forever be a stand out in her discography.

    I've been a fan for a long time, over 10 years, but it's been long since I was so blown away by an album of hers. Don't get me wrong: the previous two records were a delight and outstanding in their own way, but "folklore" is everything I ever wanted from her ever since she released Red. Even if you're not a fan, you should give this a try!

Interconnections are common to find such as the infamous perspective cycle of "cardigan", "august" and "betty". This character based album proves yet again why Taylor Swift is the artist of the 2010's. The aesthetic clearly fits the album, the lyricism can make you feel everything and the production leaves you wanting for more. folklore is perfection.… Expand

It’s different from everything she’s ever done, and that’s what’s so amazing about Taylor as an artist, that she isn’t afraid to try new sounds and new styles of music as long as it feels right for her and portrays her feelings the right way. One thing that always remains the heart of Taylor’s work is the lyrics that sheFolklore is truly one of Taylor’s best albums, if not her best. It’s different from everything she’s ever done, and that’s what’s so amazing about Taylor as an artist, that she isn’t afraid to try new sounds and new styles of music as long as it feels right for her and portrays her feelings the right way. One thing that always remains the heart of Taylor’s work is the lyrics that she writes, which in this album are absolutely astounding, the storytelling is out of this world. Keep in mind that she wrote this in quarantine and took inspiration from a lot of situations including some fictional ones, so don’t even try to pull out the old narrative that the media created about her and her past relationships, and just enjoy the music. This album is a masterpiece. Also the fact that she wrote, recorded, and released the album along with a beautiful music video all in the span of 4 months is incredible. Proud of her.… Expand

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. on first listen, this album appears to be an album about heartbreak. but, what we’re truly getting is taylor reminiscing over her past relationship failures, wondering if she’s making the right choice. the 1 is where she goes through the first doubt, because she remembers what COULD have been in her past flames. skip ahead, she goes through all the failures and heartbreaks, but weighs them against her current love in invisible string. she says “well, I suppose we are meant to be.” move ahead to peace, which is where she finally expresses to him her fears, the “look at all my mistakes, you will never know peace, how could you stay?” I think in hoax she realizes he knows this already, and he is still willing to stay. all of this is happening with two broader stories. the three song story, cardigan, august, and betty and the three separate shorter stories in mad woman, epiphany, and the last great american dynasty. on first listen it does appear to be a sad album, but its triumphant. its telling us how she managed to survive the pain and come out with the most important person she’s met thus far. keep listening and it becomes apparent. folklore could not exist without the archer, track 5 on her previous album lover. its an expanded version of the same theme, taylor reflecting on her insecurities while still managing to find and keep true love. you might ask when listening on the surface level, did taylor and joe alwyn split? but on second listen, joe and taylor are undoubtedly still together. its the repetition of the “who could ever leave me, darling? but, who could stay? you could stay” theme from the aforementioned song, “the archer”.… Expand

    so beautifully whimsical & elegant, love the old taylor sound that crept back in on this album. every track is haunting and emotional in the best way. the lyricism shows off some of taylor’s best work & the instrumentals are absolutely gorgeous.

    These 16 tracks (17 on the deluxe version) play out quite pleasurably in their entirety, the joins between Swift, Dessner and Antonoff ultimately only of niche interest. But Swift’s powerful songs reach their climaxes with bittersweet orchestrations, rather than blows to the solar plexus or a ringing in the ears. Everything hovers; little truly lands.
