    This album is the perfect example of why Taylor Swift has captivated me and many others for years now. Her ability to construct songs is uncanny and rare. With this album she proves that she can write outside of her own experience. The folky sound fits the lyrics and her voice so well that is makes this album sonically cohesive and soothing to listen to.

    This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. WOW I LOVE THIS ALBUM!!! I wasn’t really sure what to expect because of the title and lack of “lead single”, but I LOVED what I heard. I’ve wanted Taylor to try alternative music for a while, being the big swiftie and music fan in general that I am, and she nailed it. I’ve always thought it would help her show off her lyrical talent more, and it did! Well, I doubt anyone is going to read this so here is my opinion on some of the songs on the album.

    The 1: Because she said “1” instead of “one”, I was once again unsure of what to expect. This is one of my favorites on the album! It was a great introduction to the album and I love the lyrics and just the perfect mix of peace and excitement it gives you for the rest of the album.

    Cardigan: I love the Lana Del Rey vibes! I love how perfectly the lyrics and music video and melody all come together to make this song and I don’t know what else to say! Another favorite!

    The Last Great American Dynasty:
    It’s just genius! This could quite possibly be my favorite on the album! I normally wouldn’t like songs like this too much, but I am absolutely obsessed with it. I especially love how she talks both about herself in it (very clearly) and the story behind the house.

    Exile (ft. Bon Iver):
    This was not a favorite on this album, but I definitely liked it. The vocals are great and so are the lyrics, but the melody isn’t my favorite.

    My Tears Ricochet:
    If I were to rank this album, it would probably be right in the middle of the ranking. The lyrics are so good and relatable, but the melody isn’t the best.

    Mirrorball:
    One of my favorites! I love how it stands out and is so much more fun and playful than other songs on the album! Seven: Probably on the lower end of my ranking. I love how she portrays love and conversations through a seven year old’s mind, but the instrumentals make me sad, not because they’re bad, but because I don’t like the feeling they give me (which could be the intent!)

    Well, I don’t have much time, but those are just some of my thoughts on the songs. My favorite songs overall are The 1, Cardigan, The Last Great American Dynasty, Mirrorball, and August.    … Expand

    Wow. I am simply blown away by Taylor Swift’s new album. When I heard yesterday that she was releasing a secret album, I had a hard time falling asleep last night, I was that excited. My expectations were certainly not disappointed. folklore is definitely her best album since Speak Now, and the third of her eight that I would give a 10 (no other artist even has two albums in that range). With folklore, Swift completely changes her style to something that might have come out if you mashed up her debut album with reputation, but with an overall quality that is comparable to Fearless and Speak Now. This new form of music is very fun to listen to, as it is unique to both her and the rest of pop. I guess that is kinda what I appreciated about it. Taylor Swift went back to having acoustic guitar (and piano!) based songs instead of electronically-produced music that was first experimented with in Red and then became her main style in 1989. It’s not that I don’t care for electronic music (it can be really good), but there is something really special about music that is made with real instruments, like the mind-blowing acoustic guitar riffs that can be heard in more than one of the songs in folklore. I wish I could give my song by song commentary but I can't because of the character limit. Overall, I was completely astounded by Taylor Swift’s eighth. Ever since 1989 came out, Taylor Swift’s music had been fun, but had never quite reached the heights of her first four albums for me. folklore is a complete game-changer, though. The score I give folklore is right up there with Swift’s best. No, Taylor Swift is not giving her crown away any time soon. She is one of my absolute favorite artists, and the effort she has put into making folklore another spectacular album only reinforces that. I highly recommend this album to all Taylor Swift fans as one of her best. I was scared that after Lover we would have to wait a long time for another release, but folklore is something better than what I could have imagined and it is really what we need right now during this worldwide crisis. Some of us have spent years dreaming TaylorOnce a Country Girl always a Country girl, no pop songs at all. The whole album gives country vibes, it’s as far beyond Lover as Lover was beyond Reputation. She’s always relished her dramatic creative zigzags, but this is easily her most audacious move, full of story-telling depth she’s never come close to before. This album sounds so Ethereal.     Taylor nos presenta uno de sus mejores discos. Música tranquila y que mantiene un arco de historia muy interesante; agregado a eso, experimenta con un nuevo género, que, aunque ya ha sido usado, Swift agrega su toque y lo hace especial.

    Es uno de los mejores albums de Taylor, me encanto cada una de las canciones por sus letras y sonidos, también el vídeo de Cardigan es increíble, estoy muy agradecida por poder escuchar este álbum, escúchenlo no se van arrepentir.

    These 16 tracks (17 on the deluxe version) play out quite pleasurably in their entirety, the joins between Swift, Dessner and Antonoff ultimately only of niche interest. But Swift’s powerful songs reach their climaxes with bittersweet orchestrations, rather than blows to the solar plexus or a ringing in the ears. Everything hovers; little truly lands.
