    Taylor has come back to her roots, country-rock melodies are back, but her writing is just as sharp as in Folklore. It lacks the surprise element of her sister album, however, the narrative is endearing and it is perfect sad prose for the holidays.

    Stand outs on this album include: "no body, no crime" (feat. HAIM) — a 2020 version of "Goodbye Earl" with a couple of killer twists. "'tis the damn season" which is to Christmas songs what Die Hard is to Christmas movies. "happiness" — a song that is simultaneously heartbreaking for what's lost while hopeful for what is to come.

    Finally, as always, Swift closes the album with a sign that day is breaking. On "evermore" (feat. Bon Iver), Swift and Vernon trade lines a la "exile" recapping a relationship — and our shared trauma of 2020 — before declaring "This pain [won't] be for Evermore."    … Expand

    One of the best album in 2020. This sister record of her previous album, folklore, brings in quite similar but extraordinary melodies and symphony. The beautiful, storytelling lyrics and the haunting yet mesmerising sound of her voice magically compliments this whole album. Sonically, it's quite similar to folklore but some of the songs are built better.

    I was truly shocked- until now, to be honest.

    Folklore is the younger, wide-eyed and socially anxious sister with an ambitious, passionate side. Evermore is the elder, has been through a lot but has been able to find happiness in the end. This album gives off the vibe of something fundamentally scarred, but there's also the feeling of "I've made it", content, calmed, accomplished. This is such a beautiful mood.

    This is an album for adults, full of the type of pain and loss that only someone who has come through the tunnel and can look back at it with clear eyes can write. A lot of people won’t understand it. A lot of high school kids who just lost their first love will think they understand it. But it’s a beautiful, intricate, heartbreaking ode to a nostalgic revisiting of ones past losses.

    It has its own essence and life, it cannot be compared to folklore as the professionals are doing.....

    Adore the story book theme that makes it feel as if you're reading a novel in a cosy cabin wrapped in fuzzy blankets and crying your eyes out. Enjoy the new characters and stories Swift has developed. Love it!

    The album is a more upbeat version of folklore and I am living for it! The best songs of evermore in my opinion are willow, champagne problems and no body no crime

    Even though we get a catchy moment of goofy, snarling country midway through, the album is a result of the emotional clarity that a year in quarantine provided. Swift has written about curdling relationships splendidly in the past, but there's a new dimension to her writing that wasn’t there before. Onward.
