Funny movie, but it has a problem with audiences. It has a style of humor only young people will like, but it's full of references only old people will get. It has a style of humor only young people will like, but it's full of references only old people will get. Honestly, how many people who know enough about Johnny Cash, Ray Charles, the Beatles, Bob Dylan, and the rest to appreciate the jokes would actually go for dumb humor? And, as judging by the other comments, the dumb humor wasn't even quite dumb enough to satisfy the dumb humor buffs. Walk Hard is one of the funniest movies I have seen in a long time, and only suffers from the occasional slow section that just barely drags it out of the top echelon of raunchy comedies. If you are even marginally interested in this movie, check it out, and you likely won't be disappointed. Adequate litmus tests to determine if you would enjoy this movie include: 1) Did the title make you chuckle? 2) Do you enjoy other Apatow movies? and 3) Did you enjoy the comedic stylings of the comedy troupes The State or Kids in the Hall? If you answered yes to any of these, give this movie a shot, and spread the good word. Expand

It is one of those movies that you'll see a second time and laugh harder. The soundtrack is remarkably solid, too. It does satire a couple of groups that do not really have a sense of humor about themselves...so you're sure to get some people denigrating the film because they walked out insulted. But it is all in good fun, and if you don't laugh out loud at least a few times, therapy may be in your best interest. Expand

In “Lets Duet” one has to wonder how can one song can contain so many double entendres and still sound kind of “normal”? Dewey Cox story contains some excellent writing.

Arguably one of the funniest Parodies’ for a long while. John C Reilly hits the mark perfectly and without will Farrell to inject his own style with a blend of egotistical characters .

Just like “Talladega nights”, “Walk hard” is teeming with subtle gags from start to finish that require more than a basic frame of reference to understand. From some of the negative reviews its clear they were not always understood by everyone. From the “You don’t want to try this” drug routines to the classic “penis in shot” it’s a movie so funny you just wish everyone could “get it”.

This film draws most of its influence from Walk the Line, the Johnny Cash biography and Ray, the Ray Charles biography. This film was the best it could be in my opinion. I'm glad it didn't turn into a Scary Movie rip off. It was wonderfully written by one of my favorite figures in comedy Judd Apatow and John C. Reilly finally gets a leading role after hiding behind Will Ferrell for years. What makes the film fun are the amount of cameo appearances of rock stars both dead and alive. There are also many comedy characters hidden throughout the film. The original music is also pretty strong for a spoof movie. Expand
