Is a good movie, but cannot surpass the 3 classic movies, the explanation of how was resurrected the main characters, can be acceptable in the story, but could be better, that they made with morfeo was unforgiven.

Gold. It was a delight. I loved how meta it was around the fact that it was a sequel. Loved the drama and epicness of it all. Keanu & Carrie-Anne having a blast. Love it.

So, I belong to those people who liked the first act, in the first instance I considered it quite risky but manages to unfold in an intriguing way and in a certain way, taking existential concepts again.
The second act was the worst of the film, I have very rarely been so bored watching a film and unfortunately happens here. Almost all the middle was pure explanation, the action scenes in this part were quiet heartless.
The third act gets to take power with great chase scene, the most exciting scene of the film. The conclusion is fine, but in this point you almost forget how they get there. In the end, this film manages to be a great show at times, but regrettably is forgettable.
Last but not least, the cast were very fine and about the visual effects I would say like a character in the film says "It's so perfect that it doesn't seem real".

New morpheus captivated me, agent Smith with a reframe of purpose, analyst, and of course, in addition to Neo's life the new characters. Metalanguage, criticism of consumerism these days... Nothing here is Reboot / remake. The film makes it very clear that it is a sequel. Neo's trigger has always been to do what he had to do, because beyond the wars, Trinity has always been his focus. It's not forced, there really is a chemistry. Now if you don't buy that, really, the movie isn't for you. Please don't try to compare with the first one, that's not what it's about. To the naive people who were expecting something like the first one, I'm sorry, but like everything else in life, the world has evolved... Let the next one come... Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It's a awesome movie, Lana could bring the story back without spoil the story. The only Defect is that, the movie don't explain the new characters, like Lexy, who is she. I think Lana should explain just a little about the new characters. The agente smith was just a Random character that appeared only to save neo at the end of the movie, Like Smith, the same happens with Morpheus, it only appears to free Neo. I also think that bugs was an underused character, it had incredible potential, but it was not explored. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I actually made an account just so that i can vote and review

TL;DR: this movie shows a style similar to how disney destroyed the star wars franchise -> corporate greed; wokeness and leeching on people's melancholies/old interests.
Objectively it has bad script, bad storytelling, and irrational-crazy plot holes. An abomination!
PROS: Actors are good; soundtrack is good; special effects are good; adds some new and fresh ideas.
CONS: Everything else immaginable (story/plot/lore; script/lines; universe; action scenes; etc) EVERYTHING ELSE is a cesspool! Now for the long version:

For a start, apparently i have to show my colors because the toleant individuals that gave this a 9 or 10 rating are yapping that all the people giving it bad reviews are either haters; bigots; trolls; or didn't understand the movie. (yes, i have read a lot of comments, both pros and cons)

- it's not my 1st Matrix movie (i rewatched the trilogy quite a few times)!
- i am a feminist: from the old movies i appreciated Switch, i LOVED Trinity and from this new movie i appreciate Buggs.
- i am not blind by conservatorism: i appreciate and understand that in 60 years tech can advance and the humans can now easily teleport using different kinds of doorways and can log-out without the need of payphones (tottaly understandable and easy to digest lore change - this is also a movie pro btw!).
- i am objective (these are the pro's of this movie too): truly, it's a very original and fresh approach to the matrix franchise to:
1) bring more sentient robot-machines on the side of humanity (and it's nicely shown)
2) show how humanity is thriving
3) create an alternate way of ressurrecting Neo and the other characters.
4) changing their faces/identities was an awesome idea (speaking of which: we were always prepared by the old trilogy that a character can have a different face: the oracle always had a different image in each movie!).

Now for the snap back to reality:

NO MATTER HOW YOU LOOK AT IT, A MOVIE IS BAD IF:
I) action scenes are spoiled with the camera super zoomed-in and shaking (example: compare Neo fighting exiles from old -vs- new)

II) you are forcing a story into fast-forward mode + no explanations (not even later) + plot holes that are so irrational its insane (eg what happened to the second helicopter @ rooftop ending scene? did it just went for coffee and came back later?)

III) a character has plot armor (i wanted to puke when i saw Buggs not taking a sigle bullet at the begining, when she gets flushed by the agent on that rooftop, and when both agents AND the swat team with automatic guns mag-dump on her from 3 meters away)

iv) you change its soul: WHEN in THREE movies did the old trilogy had a family friendly fist bump moment??? (Seq + stick insect robot fist bump to celebrate a victory) NEVER! Matrix was NEVER similar to guardians of the galaxy; or avengers or star wars (the new trilogy). It NEVER had those useless moments, never needed them. But now it's exactly like them: just a puffy team, made by puffy teammates, doing puffy things. v) last but not least, lore speaking: Trinity and Neo are a thing (which is actually and ironically even reinforced by this movie also) - so, then, WHY dismiss that at one of the peak moments of the couple???
Like seriously, the couple barely survived a huge explosion @ rooftop ending scene, and Trinity instead of going to Neo to check on him, she walked away, not even caring if he's alive or dead, so that she can bask in the beauty of the sunrise.... REALLY??????

People giving this movie anything above 7 just means you are either blinded by love+melancholy+copium; ignorant; or just trying to balance out the zeroes and 1s (action which, btw, just makes just as neanderthalic as the troglodytes who gave it 0,1,2).

CONCLUSION:
BAD MOVIE. An insult to the spirit and lore of the movie/universe.
Congratulations, you washed another franchise and made it more consumer friendly.

If you are a serious audience, you should be able to appreciate about what the movie going to tell after one hour's watching. The movie has a deep structure, not a shallow one. simply amazing!

I have to salute to the writer, you are awesome as usual. you did a really good starter for a new trilogy! no disappointed!!

A message that may be a hard pill to swallow as it demands reaction - either You ignore it or acknowledge and take responsibility for the problems that are shown straightforward. Acting is top-notch and sounds along with narrative layer, again having a good dose of auto irony and humor. I wanted it to be another landmark in cinema history. I wanted all of these things, but it wasn't meant to be. It sadly failed in all of these respects. The plot was not respectful to the previous movies, it was weak and I couldn't really care about the outcome. The casting choices were poor, for example Agent Smith, who is supposed to be the meanest and scariest of them all, all but diminished to some generic, forgettable form. Besides Neo and Trinity, the other characters were circus caricatures, each with their own little nickname, party-shop sunglasses and hairstyle. I never felt connected or concerned about the well-being of the characters. Their success or demise were uninteresting. Special effects were average, fight scenes were boring and there was nothing ground breaking, not even on par with the rest of cinema today. Compared to the amazing fight sequences for example in Shang-Chi, it paled in comparison. To top it off, the WOKE messages felt forced, but these I could have lived with if everything else was done right. This movie could have been better. There are many more plotlines that could have been brain-twistingly interesting and mind-melting. But it settled for average. It wasn't meant to be. Expand

I honestly can't understand why some people rate this above a 3 or 4. Honestly.
The latest iteration of the matrix series is breaking my matrix fanboy heart. I have loved the movies since they first released and it has been on my top 3 of all times. But that era has come to and end and it's time to say good bye.

The first Matrix got loved by people around the world for the innovative special effects, the deep story, the anime inspired camera shots and the amazing Bullet time, never before seen in cinemas.
Nothing of that magic is kept in Matrix 4. The soul of the Matrix universe is gone and replaced with some kind of Hollywood washed out garbage standard formula 1A.
It's quite noticeable that they didn't really want to make this movie. It's whole existence is a proof of that. Even the meta discussions within the movie provide evidence for this theory.
The film follows the same formula you've seen a million times before. Introduce main character, poorly executed story elements, a few low budget action scenes, some old washed out special effects, climax end fight, curtain call.

Each and every action scene in the movie is worse than in the original. The choreography is slow and predictable. Nothing new is brought to the table. We have all seen it before.
They have a few special effects (you have seen them before) which they re-use during the scenes of the movie. One move, by Neo, is done over 10 times. The same... effect.. 10.. times.. It's unbearable to watch.

To top it off, as a final stab in the back they removed that old "matrix feeling" and atmosphere (Green tinted, slow mo poses that we all loved) and replaced it with a hand full of wokeness instead. White male is bad, women, people of colour and LBTQ+ is good. Keanu Reeves looks like a lost boy surrounded by a political correct woke cast.
Even though I respect all kind of people no matter colour or sexual preferences, I'm getting so tired of having it shoved down my throat. I just wanted to see a great movie, I didn't pay to get lectured. But lectured is what I got, and a great movie was nowhere to be seen.

Matrix 1-3 will keep on living in my heart until the day I die but this movie will be dead and buried. The legend is dead and the Matrix is no more.

But the memories remain.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Middle aged people in love. The bullet time and sped up martial arts, outstanding in 1999, are now mundane. The plot is all over the place, though I liked the first hour where Anderson is trying to figure out if his reality is the real thing or not, lots of meta references to the original movies including scene by scene copies. As the film was made in the woke age Trinity is now more powerful than Neo and all the leaders of the human enclave are female. Keanu looks bewildered throughout, and you then remember that his character wasn't very interesting in the original trilogy either. There is zero chemistry between him and Trinity (also like the original movies). There is a huge gap in this movie where Hugo Weaving and Laurence Fishburne should be - their cut-price substitutes just don't cut it, unfortunately (Though Dougie Howser almost makes up for it as the analyst). The French chateau guy also reappears as a bum in an unintentionally hilarious scene. IT's liked they tried to cram in so many throwbacks to the original three movies there wasn't much left that was original. There are some parts of the movie I feel they should have developed further, such as the machine civil war. However what we get is a finale which is a messy and confusing fight. I also don't like the fact that they retconned the original movies - we find that nothing much changed after Neo sacrificed himself and brought peace between the humans and machines. This is similar to how they undermined Anakin Skywalker's redemption arc by bringing back Palpatine in the last Star Wars film. Moral of this review? Sometimes things are just better left alone. There is a line in the film which feels like the director speaking to the audience. Saying the content was happening anyway, and they decided better to be a part of it than not. There is a theory going around, I happen to agree with that the director made a bad movie on purpose. And the Wachowski's have been making limited interest artsy movies or big budget flops for a decade plus now. I streamed this movie with my girlfriend. And we both fell asleep at different places. That's not normal! Especially not for me on a first viewing of any film. On a movie with action sequences? Literally a first. The first Matrix changed film culture, and created imitators. The sequels, though less liked still told, in my opinion, a satisfying story. This is more like bad fan fiction than a sequel. It could have been a good movie. There are elements in there that had the potential to make a great film if done right. But whatever not terrible elements there were, they got done dirty. Thats for sure. Expand

Technically the movie is on great level, but they are not revolutionary (remember the first Matrix...). The story is good, with some clever connections the the first 3 matrix movies. The not so serious dialogues in the beginning about the sequel were a bit out out of the place in the serious world. And it would be better to show a completely different part of the matrix story with different characters and not the old Keanu Reeves and even older looking Carrie-Ann Moss. I didnt enjoy their love story in this movie either: If they love each other so much, they should be together since a long time. In addition Jessica Hanwicks as Bugs and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II are without charisma (remember the charisma of Laurence Fishborne?) and Janda Pinkett Smith as Niobe is also annoying.

Look, it’s one thing to be meta, but making a good movie is also another thing. Out of all the Matrix films, this had the weakest action scenes. The creativity and originality were seriously lacking here.

I know that many expected action type thriller and thats why put even lower ratings, but I did not really expect that and to me this felt similar to last Matrix of original trilogy in many ways (I dont rate it highly). Anyway, it was watchable, but nothing impressive or on level of first Matrix at all. Expand

This is the worst Matrix movie of all of them as it's basically a reboot of the first one, at times scene for scene scenario.

I wanted to see Neo as a bad ass and more bullet time awesomeness.
I am so used to Keanu Reeves' characters being a super bad ass and in this one Neo seemed every bit of the 57 yrs old the actor is and more. I thought "Doogie Houser" was a horrible casting for the movie, you will understand when you watch it. The musical score even disappointed me, it was no were near as good as the other movies. I especially didn't like the ending credits song. What did I like? Carrie Ann Moss is still beautiful and a hottie at 54. Trinity was more of a bad ass than Neo, is Trinity The One now? The trailer for the movie with the White Rabbit remix was one of the best I have ever seen. The use of HDR was good. Some other things I liked would be spoilers so I will stop here.

Instead, strong far-left social/political messaging and dialog has been shoehorned into the movie. The whole affair is painful to bear witness to, the tone of the original 3 is non-existent. The action scenes are mediocre. Keeanu couldn't cut his hair due to John Wick schedules so the character is just a mopey version of John Wick. Laurence Fishburne wasn't brought back. Scenes feel pointless, weird and incoherent. The movie feels like a politically left leaning tv series who's two sets are a coffee shop with soy latte hipsters and their office they work at. This isn't what anyone wanted.

I can't stress enough how bad this film is. The last 3 are art by comparison. Don't ruin your day by watching this.

There were some interesting story choices that would have give a fresh outlook and direction to the franchise.

But for whatever reason, the movie itself spends more time making fun of itself rather than building on these interesting story beats, I am still confused whether the parody elements were intentional or unintentional.

The Good

There were some very interesting concepts in writing, an AI war, sections of AI choosing a side, Neo not being the only one. All of these would have made better setups for a new trilogy.

Even though the story had interesting beats there were only a couple of standout performances, Reeves and Moss's chemistry was good akin to old lovers, NPH, Yahya, and Hemwick really felt like they were there and having fun and putting an effort if only the dialogue writing kept up.

THE BAD

The worst and the biggest mistake a Matrix movie can make is to have bad action, unfortunately, this sticks out like a sore thumb. It did not feel like this was going to be a low budget, so the ultra-low-budget editing, the pathetic wire work really damages the film.

The film feels like it simultaneously hates its previous legacy and wants to do everything that the previous trilogy did, it was so jarring. If you add to it the absolutely terrible dialogue writing it would even kill parts of the film where there were interesting story beats going on.

NPH was putting on a good performance as the new architect, but sadly the dialogue given to his character was so bad that he kept coming off as petty and bitc#y rather than a sentient AI.

For all the bad dialogue and confusing story of the first trilogy, the action on screen is some of the best put to screen accompanies with some of the most imaginative usages of CGI, even if it is dated today what they are trying to do is really cool.

Twenty-three years later, some of the themes and structure are recycled. The protagonists still must choose between the red pill (truth, reality) and the blue pill (blissful ignorance), a concept now fully embedded in pop culture. Another, less positive, carryover is a storyline that’s even more confusing than the original. Co-writer/Director Lana Wachowski (sister Lilly sat this one out) has delivered a new work that revisits many of the philosophical concepts launched in the original. But this installment feels overcrowded with ideas.

The acting is worth the price of admission. Neil Patrick Harris (TV’s “How I Met Your Mother,” Broadway roles including “Cabaret,” “Hedwig and the Angry Inch”) as The Analyst skillfully depicts what can lurk beneath an empathic, charming exterior. But it’s getting reacquainted with Neo/Thomas Anderson (Keanu Reeves) and Trinity/Tiffany (Carrie-Anne Moss) that offers real satisfaction. Seeing Reeves and Moss reinhabiting these iconic roles is like visiting old friends. Anderson is now the programmer for a video game called, wait for it, The Matrix. But he has a boss (an excellent Jonathan Groff – TV’s “Mindhunter,” vocals in “Frozen,” “Hamilton”), so he’s back to a mundane existence where others hold the power. Tiffany is a mom whose molars grind when her husband calls her “Tiff.” Based on this screenplay, explaining whether and how they escape The Matrix to recognize their full selves could take years and cost millions of lives. Suffice it to say the plot is a bit challenging.

Two factors drag this effort down from the original’s lofty pedestal. First, the CGI and special effects, particularly the fight sequences, so novel and stunning in 1999, now seem pretty mundane. While the original film offered groundbreaking CGI, the special effects in “Resurrections” don’t distinguish themselves from the average superhero movie out today. Second, the script relies too much and too often on exposition to move the plot along and to underline the choices of the main characters. When the exposition isn’t being condescendingly redundant, it’s just preachy and boring.

Despite the jumbled script, the core theme of “Resurrections” is quite straightforward. If you pare down the story to its essence, it’s a simple message: love conquers all.

Not all that bad... I think most of the detractors are either pissed off about the "woke" imagery or due to the fact they took the film far too seriously.

Seen as a comedic sequel to a 20 years-old trilogy, it's pretty good actually. I wouldn't have paid to see it in theaters, tho it undoes many of the problems with Matrix 2 & 3, while also creating a mess of its own, especially with the gruesome "resurrection" subplot.

A few missed opportunities still, as the movie could have been made more boldly with an oblique approach to the original story, with better-grounded main characters (new Morpheus was just created as a bot?). Which makes it a worthy sequel, while not being anywhere near as groundbreaking as the first Matrix movie.

Agent Smith: "Did you know that the first Matrix was designed to be a perfect human world, where none suffered, where everyone would be happy? It was a disaster. No one would accept the program, entire crops were lost. Some believed we lacked the programming language to describe your perfect world, but I believe that, as a species, human beings define their reality through misery and suffering. The perfect world was a dream that your primitive cerebrum kept trying to wake up from. Which is why the Matrix was redesigned to this". On such a nihilistic premise it was not possible to build anything, it vanified any hypothetical attempt at emancipation as it had already been performed and falsified. The saga was more or less usable and enjoyable on condition of forgetting one of the worst screenplay inconsistencies in the history of cinema or, vice versa, of interpretating it as the demonstration of the truthfulness of the basic assumption. "Matrix 4" is a bogus product, added almost twenty years later without any valid artistic reason: metatextuality avoids the fundamental dilemma, the disquisition on free will is already stale in itself and in any case Lana has the modesty not to take it seriously, the love story between Neo and Trinity had already touched quite another emotional peaks in the mutual resurrection of the first 2 episodes, the criticism of the geek generation who wanted to change the world and instead became its new ruler (and slave) is euphemistically weak, the rejection of a binary logic ("two-valued", Boolean algebra, the Parmenidean and Aristotelian "aut aut: tertium non datur") reiterates the allusion to gender fluidity in cast, actor roles and audience. The rest offers no substantial novelty (CGI, action scenes, characterization of the protagonists).

The following 2 sequels were a fun watch but i felt never captured the feel of the first one. After watching the trailer for Matrix Resurrections with that song White Rabbit by Jefferson Airplane, i was beyond excited!!! It was s cool trailer with a cool song that tied in nicely with the White Rabbit theme from the first Matrix! SADLY, the movie was a huge letdown for me ☹️ Not only was it nowhere near as cool as the Matrix, it had a made-for-TV feel to it. I just could not get into it at all. A couple of friends of mine couldn’t even finish it! I’m not trying to sound like some kind of movie critic, I’m just saying I felt deceived by that cool trailer & that this movie completely lost all of the vibe that the original had. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Uneccessary but not that bad but infact it was entertaining, As a strict original matrix fan it will piss most but for fun time with little similar concept and little parody it was amazing considering 2 and 3 was little dissappointment, The trilogy was completed but the further expansion of story with the little changes was done nicely, The whole story of aftermath of stopping robots and the matrix destruction turns out the neo and trinity being alive/resurected and the whole neo's game designer journey and similar feel start to original the truth seeking and then the whole real life world stuff with "IO" it made sense, The group and captain was decent and the starting intro the morpheous as an agent felt little "WTF" Then the matrix in and out mission of group and real world quest to find neo where the neo living as tom the game dev the whole office stuff was literally fun the self parody of matrix trilogy but as a game the complaints about sequels and not more orignal content now a days and the "WB" invovelment as head that wants the sequel it was cleverly awesome and fun, The smith as boss and the whole simulation world the old playbacks of trilogy here and there and the 1st act was like 1st movie but with funny elements, the neo's struggle to find whats real and fake then the waking in real world and the whole story filling in with the new mission to awake trinity the theme of how people are love to be in matrial world it was just brilliant and then the neo's trinity meeting invaded by the real culprit the therapist his time slow talk it was awesome and then the sati's plan to rescue trinity the whole ending fight surrounded by people was amazing and then therapist killed by smith was just shocking then the whole zombie like fight summoned by smith defeated by Trinity with powers it was good then neo and trinity reunite in real world after that The final meet with therapist to change the world and the casual teasing kills of therapist in simulation was awesome and ending with neo and trinity flying it was decent end, Overall it was entertaining and like the mixture of trilogy where starting part was like 1st one and rest of it like 2 and 3. It can be avoidable as its dissapointment for hardcore matrix follower but for casual watch its good,Its a fun and decent movie! Expand

After a truly bitter first taste the glimpses of 1/2 of the Wachowski genius started to seep in through the cracks. A taste of brilliance here, a dash of somewhat decent writing there, before I began to slowly settle in to what this movie has to offer. Unfortunately the small taste was all this film had going for it. I stand firmly in the camp of not completely disliking either Reloaded or Revolutions. To put them next to this film makes both hated sequels to an undeniable classic seem like Empire and Return of the Jedi. The Matrix Resurrections is a deeply flawed picture. It begs the question if it should exist at all. So much of the style, the exciting life of the former movies of the late 90's and early 2000's had is nowhere to be seen. The writing plops off the page like wet dog excrement. Iconic characters are recast for the worse. Action set pieces and, god forbid I say it, kung fu action sequences the previous films were known for are completely absent in favor of cheap, jump cutting "thrills". There was perhaps a solid 10 minutes of decent storytelling near the middle of the film that shone a bit brighter amongst the miasma before it inevitably took a nose dive into mediocrity. All in all the film is a shocking mockery of the franchise, built to fail. Expand

It’s supposed to make you cringe and p*** you off. It’s basically a blatant rewrite of the 2-3 done in the manner the marketing t***s wanted with a happy ending that’s cheesy. I thought it a great middle finger to sequels that stands NOT as a part of the originals just a *** off WB. Note I don’t see the need to watch it a second time though. Expand

This film was such a disappointment.

THE GOOD
- Its original cast returns.. except for Agent Smith and Morpheus.. Really? For real? If I was the director, I would've cancelled the film if they couldn't return.
- Sometimes great visuals
- Entertaining action set pieces
- Great score
- Sometimes stylish (which I like)

THE BAD
- Mediocre performances
- Pacing issues
- A cliche, unoriginal, bland, and overused story concept
- The lighting is too bright and the color correction is too vibrant (it just doesn't look or feel right. The original film better utilizes the CC as it had a green haze plastered over it, when they were in the Matrix. But here, you can't distinguish reality from the Matrix and it can sometimes become confusing)

These are just a few of my main complaints with the film. I had my expectations low and was still disappointed. This sequel could've been a return to form for the Matrix film. A landmark in the Sci-Fi genre, but all that potential is immediately lifted when the writing and sense of direction mixes.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. First of all the good things of the movie:
- the new characters are written and played good
- I like how they expanded the real world with new machines
- The fight scenes are not as bad as in a "Liam Neeson with a gun"-Movie
- the effects are looking pretty good
- the meta jokes, which the Matrix didn't really need, are pretty good and I laughed sometimes because of them
- the settings of the fight scenes are much more realistic than the fight scenes in the other movies
- camera work is pretty good except from some fight scenes
- most stunts are real for example the jump of the skyscraper
now the bad things:
- the story isn't really unique
- the new actors for Morpheus and Agent Smith are good, but I liked Laurence Fishburne and Hugo weaving more
- the dojo-fight-scene was funny to watch because of the costume
- many fight scenes has the stupid shaking cameras
- the music was a little bit too silent for my taste
- Keanu Reeves looks like John Wick and not like Neo because of his hairs

All in all i enjoyed the movie, but it didn't catched me in the fight scenes because of the many cuts and also the story was stolen by the movies of the original triology. I preordered the Blu-Ray because I want to watch the movie a few times to maybe get some hidden signs. If you want to see a Matrix film, which isnt a sequel and not really a prequel, you can accept the shaky cameras and you like meta jokes, than this movie may be worthy to watch.

Has someone literally just tried to create the same movie but alter small bits to make it looks like its the same. The first movie is good. It plays on a feeling lots of us have at some point but dont have the friends and family or money around us to create a movie about. I feel that this movie is in us but we dont have the resources to create it. So the first movie absolutely watch it but this one oh my what a dumpster fire. Expand

Not a great film but a better Matrix film than Resurrections. The amount of references while also saying that references were bad was annoying though.

cheap rushed feeling throughout, nice name, actors and trailer to suck you in only to fail to realize even a single expectation with repeated reenactments from previous sequels which makes it hard to watch

The film feels like a cash grab by Warner Bros, and the reunion of the original cast members is nice, but it doesn't make up for the lackluster plot and unimpressive new additions to the cast. The absence of Laurence Fishburne is keenly felt, and the performances of Jonathan Groff and Priyanka Chopra Jonas are underwhelming. The only redeeming quality of the film is the CGI, which has improved greatly since the first trilogy. Overall, the franchise should have been left alone after the original trilogy, and Lana Wachowski should have declined the opportunity to revive it.

To think that this abomination of a movie has the same name of the infamous trilogy that changed action movies forever, you'd think you've been living inside an alternate universe where everything is a parody of itself. Trans and black majority main cast cater to the twitter and reddit mob while the mindless, sloppy jumble of mess that is the action scenes reminds me of marvel movies where everything but the kitchen sink is thrown in front of a green screen without any sense of direction or cohesion. The story is laughably skin deep and feels like an utter travesty when compared to the infinitely deep concept of the original films and neither the cinematography, music or anything used in this borefest is memorable or inspiring. Hollywood has truly become creatively bankrupt and not even the big boys from the past can save it anymore. All they care about anymore is to become more woke and try to devour every single beloved franchise out there until nothing is left anymore but utter crap. RIP. Expand

Timeless work and a very original sequel of the legend that defined the genre. I have never counted days, hours and seconds to the premiere in my life before. Watched many times again. Its The MATRIX!

The Wachowskis did not cast this movie well. The characters that play Bugs and Morpheus were poorly written and they should have put more effort into the editing. Also, it was a bad idea to change traditional aesthetics and machinery. TheThe Wachowskis did not cast this movie well. The characters that play Bugs and Morpheus were poorly written and they should have put more effort into the editing. Also, it was a bad idea to change traditional aesthetics and machinery. The Wachowskis need to understand that it is a good idea to keep sequels loyal to the originals. This much change ruined everything we love about The Matrix Trilogy. Cast actors that are better suited for their roles. Keanu and Carrie-Anne deserved better than this. Despite this, it was enjoyable seeing Keanu and Carrie-Anne again. Expand

The movie makes it pretty clear in its not-so-subtle messages that this was mainly done by the Wachowskis to keep the rights if The Matrix from Warner Brothers, and it shows. Neo and Trinity doesn't seem to fit in their own movie, the pacing is atrocious, the characters are all over the place, the plot doesn't make any sense, and it ultimately goes nowhere. The CGI and the fighting scenes, once revolutionary in cinema history with the original trilogy when they were released in the late 90s-early 00s, could have been the only saving grace for this movie to be acceptable, but they are dull and completely forgettable. It almost seems like an attempt from the Wachowskis to boycott their own franchise. At the beginning I was sad that neither Hugo Weaving nor Laurence Fishburne came back to reprise their roles, but looking back at it I believe they just dodged a huge bullet. Save your money (And time!) and watch the other three movies. Expand

Unfathomable garbage in every possible manner, resembling the Wachowski brothers original vision as much as a festering dog turd covered in horse excrement. You need to have aUnfathomable garbage in every possible manner, resembling the Wachowski brothers original vision as much as a festering dog turd covered in horse excrement. This abomination is a Razzi award for the next decade. You need to have a concentrated soul of pure hatred or delusion to produce something so loathsome and repugnant to witness. My heart breaks for Keanu Reeves & Carrie-Anne Moss who could not make this script work under any pretenses because of The Matrix Resurrections' unwavering forced woke culture garbage spewing out of every cinematic film grain. It does not surprise me that Lawrence Fishburne isn't Morpheus in this trash heap, and that his unnecessary replacement, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II falls woefully short of both the original actor and character. All the intelligence of the original trilogy has been replaced by offended culture and easy to construct and manipulate plot points that lead nowhere constructive. It is obvious that deception is the only effort put into this disaster, to stretch out a terrible and forced story into a two hour abomination that desparately pleads with the audience to remember the original trilogy as much as possible, even ripping lines and scenes blatantly from the Wachowski Brothers earlier work trying to polish this turd into the same content, failing at every level.

The Matrix Resurrections doesn't resurrect the Matrix franchise; it places a legendary series on critical life support, to the disappointment, rage, and frustration of all who dare to stomach this flick.
