A perfect ending and one that is emotionally satisfying. Great action sequences, and the entire story of Bruce Wayne in this is compelling. Like any good Bat-fanatic, I ended up watching The Dark Knight Rises twice over in other theaters, but neither establishment's sound system gave the Bane voice the justice it got when I heard it the first time around. because Hardy's BaneLike any good Bat-fanatic, I ended up watching The Dark Knight Rises twice over in other theaters, but neither establishment's sound system gave the Bane voice the justice it got when I heard it the first time around. because Hardy's Bane manages to match the nigh-impossible feat of outdoing Heath Ledger's Joker as one of the most brilliant, terrifying, visceral villains to ever hit the silver screen. For the Modern Medievalist, it's not just the bone-crunching, death-dealing carnage Bane channels into every punch that makes him the icon of terror; for in the real world, a well-placed bullet stops a strong man just as quickly as a weak one. It's not even the possibility of Bane destroying civilization; the Joker sought to sow chaos and total anarchy throughout Gotham's streets, but for all his cleverness, I doubt Nolan's take on the clown prince of crime could sustain a perpetual cycle of madness over an entire city. The institutions of man (if not the police, then federal or military intervention) would eventually take someone like the Joker down with or without the Batman's help.… Expand

So in conclusion The Dark Knight Rises wasn’t just great, it was amazing. This was my favourite of the Christopher Nolan films because it gave me everything I had wanted from a Batman film; a dramatic story with amazing dialogue, deep and interesting characters, brilliant, brutal and well-choreographed fight scenes, incredible cinematography and a fantastic soundtrack. While the film does a few nitpicky issues and many may argue that TDK is still the best Batman film around, I however beg to differ. This is my favourite Batman film, I was hooked from beginning to end and I was thoroughly satisfied with the end result. I REALLY WANT TO BAG TO SEE IT RIGHT NOW! The third and final film begins with an older version of our hero, who has essentially been in hiding as both Batman and Bruce Wayne for eight years. Nolan sets up what will be Batman’s toughest challenge yet, and brings him out of retirement to fight Bane, a masked villain trained by the League of Shadows. The ending is fantastically foreshadowed through Alfred when he protests Batman’s return. He reveals his hope for the final chapter of their journey together ending with an exchange of glances as Wayne sits at an outdoor cafe with a girl in Europe on a sunny day, rather than with Alfred burying him in the ground. After surviving Bane breaking his back, escaping a nearly inescapable prison in a far off land, and almost defeating Bane, the big twist of the movie knocks Batman right off his horse again. Miranda Tate, his love interest, reveals herself as Talia Al Ghul, and is actually the mastermind behind the plan to avenge her father Ra’s Al Ghul, and finish what he started. With the help of Jim Gordon, John Blake, and Catwoman, Batman does ultimately prevail, however, his death is teased with the use of a frequently referenced story-line relating to his Bat plane and it’s auto-pilot feature, or lack thereof. The Dark Knight Rises had a mind-boggling storyline, with several intriguing subplots and twists and turns at every step. Once again, there were a whole host of dialogues that have eventually become part of everyday life. Bane was yet another amazing villain, literally Nolan really knows how to direct a villain with Hardy brilliantly carrying on.

This movie is great from Bane to Batman to the final battle, the first scene with bane in the helicopter is great and with the cops kind of taking lead and going after Bane with Blake being really good and Catwoman was handled really good and the epic scale was great and the ending was perfect

Great art of Tom Hardy as Bane in The Dark Knight Rises is one of my all-time favorite villain performances. He was loyal to the comics but different at the same time. The elements that Nolan and Hardy blended together produced a great character ♥️

With The Dark Knight Rises, we have a fitting end to one of the strongest trilogies in cinema history. There is so much to appreciate in this film. The menacing tone that lies beneath the surface of Gotham City is felt for all of its 165 minutes. For my money, the plot of The Dark Knight Rises is the best of the three. I think, taken as a whole, what Christopher Nolan can be most proud of is that he has captured the attention of a massive audience and taught them that escapist entertainment can be thoughtful and precise. He may present some of this grandiose and complex content in a simplified and somewhat self-important/preachy way, but he achieves his grand design of getting us all thinking about our own morality, our limits, and our duties. The third chapter of a trilogy is the hardest to make because they have to meet the high bar set by the second chapter and wrap up everything set up by the first two films. With The Dark Knight’s ridiculously high bar, the death of the lateThe third chapter of a trilogy is the hardest to make because they have to meet the high bar set by the second chapter and wrap up everything set up by the first two films. With The Dark Knight’s ridiculously high bar, the death of the late great Heath Ledger and reputations of third chapters, you could say the odds were against this.

But thanks to the genius that is Christopher Nolan, this film is fantastic. It may not be as good as The Dark Knight, which is fine as it’s still an epic conclusion to the trilogy. Also this is arguably the best third chapter of any film trilogy.

Christopher Nolan made the decision not to make any reference to the Joker, out of respect to Heath Ledger and keep his performance contained in The Dark Knight. His actions in that film had still left major consequences that this film deals with, so his impact is still there without being directly mentioned.

One of the main themes is Pain - both physically and mentally. The events of The Dark Knight left Bruce with permanent injuries and trauma, which have taken a toll on him the past 8 years. He needs to overcome to become Batman again to take down his biggest threat, and if he can, move on or die miserably.

In addition to the Tumbler and the Batpod, we have the Batwing, which is like a Tumbler that is also a helicopter. Catwoman’s costume consists of safe-cracking goggles that resemble cat ears when flipped up, and her whip has been replaced with a serrated spiked high heel boots. Bane’s Mexican wrestler mask and tubes injecting Venom into him have been replaced with a mask that pumps a pain-reducing drug into his mouth.

While Bane is not as memorable or compelling of a villain as the Joker, he is a massive threat to Batman. The Joker tested Batman on his morals, while Bane challenges Batman physically, as he has a lot of strength and Bruce is out of shape, having not been Batman for 8 years.

Christian Bale delivers his best performance as our broken hero struggling to crawl his way back to be tougher than ever. More sympathetic than ever, he starts off reclusive and struggling to overcome post-traumatic stress. Then following him on an incredibly difficult journey to not only get back into shape but also find the will to live.

Michael Caine is also top notch as Alfred and has a particular scene that will bring the audience to tears. Bale and Caine’s chemistry is more touching than ever, putting the father/son dynamic to the ultimate test. Gary Oldman and Morgan Freeman once again bring their A-game as James Gordon and Lucius Fox and they are fantastic.

Tom Hardy is almost completely unrecognisable as Bane and he is incredibly menacing. Considering he has most of his face covered, he is required to do a lot of acting with his eyes and body language, which he pulls off really well. His dialogue may require a little getting used to but it suits his character.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt makes a surprisingly likeable and intriguing addition as young police officer John Blake, who plays a pivotal role in helping Batman. Marion Cotillard initially seemed like an odd addition as a colleague of Bruce at Wayne Enterprises, but her role does end up serving a purpose.

Anne Hathaway steals the show as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, a jewel thief looking for an escape from the crime world. She’s a femme fatale anti-heroine who’s witty, mysterious, manipulative and has no problem fighting anyone and would kill if she had to. Her ‘Catwoman’ name is not mentioned, however there’s plenty of cat reference including a newspaper article referring to her as “The Cat”. It’s mesmerizing how she plays people, such as pretending to be a shy maid and changing to a sophisticated party guest in an instant.

The chemistry between Bale and Hathaway is perfect, the way they exchange dialogue is so much fun to watch. Batman and Catwoman draw great contrasts to each other, such as her being from a poor background and having a blurred moral code, making her intriguing as both a love interest and an enemy.

Like the last two films, there are several memorable moments: Bane’s opening plane attack, Selina’s bar fight, Batman and Catwoman on the rooftop, the football stadium, the Batman Vs. Bane fight scene and not to mention the whole epic climax. But the final five minutes are fantastic, what a perfect way to end this trilogy, it had my heart pounding until the final shot. As a Batman fan, this ending felt like Christopher Nolan going to every fan and hugging them.

The Dark Knight Trilogy is my favourite film trilogy and my favourite superhero franchise of all time. They deliver on well-written characters – heroes and villains, psychological themes, layers of plot and epic action sequences. Batman is the greatest superhero of all time and this trilogy does him justice.… Expand

Honestly this one is my personal favorite and most enjoyable for me in the trilogy.

PIT jail part, mercenary and protector mystery part was very good too.

Also one of the best thing in this one is use of the background score in the action sequences .
It was totally cherry on the top and made it slightly better and more impactful than previous movies in the trilogy where that particular background score was only used in end credits mostly and not throughout the film .

Ending was so satisfying for me who loved Alfred and Bruce's relation… Expand

- Though the lengthiest of the trilogy, it definitely lives up to its predecessor, “The Dark Knight (2008)”.

- Christian Bale does a great job throughout the whole trilogy, but here, in my view, is the best version of Batman he’s done.

- Bane, the most overpowered of any Batman villain, and Tom Hardy absolutely kills it (in more ways than one). However, in this movie in particular, I wish he was the only/singular villain, as opposed to sharing the spotlight with Ra’s al Ghul’s daughter, Talia.

- Between the Tumbler, the Batpod, and the Bat, I can honestly say the Bat is my favorite of his vehicles.

- I really wished we had gotten a Joseph Gordon-Levitt spin-off DC/Robin movie.

Overall, it’s an awesome conclusion to a phenomenal series centered around Batman that we’ll be lucky to see someone even coming close to topping it… Expand

My favorite part is definitely Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle. That is literally one of the best cbm castings I have ever seen. She absolutely killed it in the limited amount of screen time she had. My second favorite part is Christian Bale finally finding his groove as Batman and absolutely killing it. I do still think he got outperformed by the villain yet again but he definitely put in a damn good fight which leads me to Tom Hardy as Bane. Bane was **** epic, his voice ugh everything. Nolan’s Batman villain’s are so so iconic. Scarecrow is still to this day my favorite but I loved Bane so much. This film is just so damn good… Expand

Before I saw this movie I was nervous that it would disappoint me, it didn’t. Nolan was able to outdo himself once again creating a masterpiece worthy of admiration. The strongest point of the movie were not the action sequences or the special effects, but the incredible performances by all the cast. Unlike the previous installment of the trilogy in which Heath Ledger’s Joker literally stole the movie, this time the performances and the characters development is evened out.

Tom Hardy as Bane gave an extraordinary performance that rooted the character to reality. Brutal and ferocious throughout most of the movie, I think Bane’s best moment and one of my favorite scenes in the movie is when he is at his most vulnerable. Some people argue that Bane lacked character development, but what Hardy transmits with only his eyes near the end of the movie tells the audience everything they need to know about the character and his motivations. We also get to see the vulnerable side of Bruce Wayne portrayed again by Christian Bale. This time Bale nailed the character perfectly and gave his best performance as Batman to date.

Marion Cotillard was stunning as always and converted what could have been a very plain and dull role into something incredible. Anne Hathaway was a perfect cast for Catwoman and stole the show in most of the scenes she appeared in. Joseph Gordon-Levitt was also a great addition to the usual cast and he proved yet again that he has great talent. Finally I would like to talk about Michael Caine’s performance as Alfred. Breathtaking and heartbreaking at the same time. Alfred was the heart of this movie even if he had little screen time. Every one of his scenes was incredibly emotional and they brought me near to tears several times.

Needless to say the production and visual effects of the film were outstanding. The cinematography was beautiful, yet dramatic. The editing was almost flawless and helped convey the brutality of the action sequences without having to force the violence. Technically speaking this movie is almost perfect with a few exceptions such as the stadium sequence in which there are a few continuity errors with the crowd and the cgi of the stadium could have been more believable.

Even tough I loved this movie and give it a 10 out of 10 there are certain aspects that could have been better. First of all it should have been much more longer. Even tough it is almost three hours long the film felt too fast for me. I know is probably the studio’s fault and not Nolan’s, but I would really like to watch an extended edition. Also, a I would have liked to watch Bane’s real backstory.

I would recommend this movie for everyone no matter your tastes. This movie combines the best out of every genre and it’s a true masterpiece. As one aspiring Filmmaker I really admire Christopher Nolan for pulling this off and for constantly outdoing himself. This was a true masterpiece. Thanks to the whole TDKR cast and crew for giving us this amazing movie.… Expand

There is so much to love about this wonderful film. I always imagine the whole amphitheatre full of emotional screams, anxious sweat, the biting of nails and soars of victory. So good they'd be there for three consecutive days, nothing else mattered. This is the only way I can describe The Dark Knight trilogy as a cinematic experience, and the Dark Knight Rises is the perfect way to end that three day theatrical rollercoaster.
No matter how many times you watch it, the same excitement felt when watching it for the first time always prevails.

With most masterpieces, there will always be flaws but they become so easy to overlook when your heart is racing at 160bpm for over two and half hours. Bane is singlehandedly the hardest villain presented to us on the big screen, real life gave us Pablo and unfortunately no one can beat that guy.

Confession: I need Ann Hathaway dressed as Catwoman to beat me up just a lil.… Expand

Performance of everg actor in this movie was great either it is Christian Bale , Tom Hardy or Michael Caine every actor gave a really good performance and the awesome direction by the visionary director Christopher Nolan. I just can't pick my favourite movie from the trilogy cause every movie is just so great that I can't pick and the story of the movie connects with the previous movie so well that you will be impressed a lot. The Dark Knight Rises is still as epic as the first time I've watched it. It has been a good 9 years and time to watch this one again. Everyone brings there A-Game, still love the football pitch disappearing, love it as an ending of trilogy (only thing to bring this back is the Dark Knight Returns storyline with Bale as a very old Batman), Christoper Nolan really did an amazing job and it's up there with my favorite trilogies.

Even though it's a long sit it never fails to bore you, so many things happen and they're all connected. And oh before I forget the Hans Zimmer score is still epic.

There’s another layer of meaning here, a humble acknowledgement that Batman is bigger than any one filmmaker, that no man can wear the cape forever. It might be Christian Bale’s unmistakable jawline set in bronze, but the mould will soon be recast. For better or worse, the dark knight will rise again.

And yet Christopher Nolan’s vision – his hero – has surely been immortalised over the course of this outstanding trilogy. Not for any technical milestones the director has hurdled or because he has made a Batman saga for the ages, but precisely because The Dark Knight Rises is so inextricably rooted in the here and now.

Just as Frank Miller’s graphic novel template offered a response to the capitalist hedonism of the late ’80s, so Nolan’s film addresses contemporary sociopolitical concerns – domestic and international terrorism, economic collapse, the decline of family values, the dissolution of community. A 20th-century idol repurposed to soothe 21st-century ills.

Eight years after the events of The Dark Knight, eight years since Harvey Dent’s death ushered in a new era of civil harmony, freedom from organised crime, Gotham is waking up to a new threat. Bane (Tom Hardy) is the city’s self-proclaimed reckoning, a menacing, merciless terrorist hellbent on reducing its inherently corrupt citizens (as he sees them) to ashes.

Superficially, Bane’s prolapsed facehugger grill and whackjob accent make him a textbook comic book baddie. Crucially, though, his powers (like Batman’s) are the result of circumstance, not some misc radioactive blunder or ungodly genetic buggery. He’s also endowed with the brains to match his imposing bulk. But make no mistake: these newfound nemeses aren’t about to settle down for a game of chess. Theirs is a straightforward heavyweight slog, a good honest cheek-bruiser that is thrilling and fatiguing in equal measure.

Batman’s greatest battles, of course, have always been with himself. Once a pillar of the society he has sworn himself to protect, Bruce Wayne has become a scruffy, self-pitying recluse, his restless psychosis compounded by the loss of the love of his life, Rachel Dawes. True to the character, he is again painted by Nolan as a deeply flawed protagonist, the tragic victim of his own vigilantism. A monster shrouded in myth and intrigue more typical of his exiled alter ego.

Never has the existential crisis of putting on the mask been examined so intimately. To that end it is Bale – so often overlooked throughout this series – who delivers the standout performance, undoubtedly his finest in the role. Together he and Nolan break Bruce Wayne down, body and soul, slowly, agonisingly, until both man and moniker are ready to be resculpted into something harder, something more robust and resilient than before. In the process our hero is left open to the minxy allure of Anne Hathaway’s Selina Kyle, a duplicitous presence whose seductive feminist purr is pacified in disappointingly conventional fashion.

Humanising a silver-spooned billionaire like Bruce Wayne has never felt so pertinent, not least because of the stigma that has become attached to the One Percent in the intervening years since TDK. And yet here is a film without a true emotional hook. An immaculately crafted, fatally clinical last hurrah that’s dotted with dazzling exclamation marks, signed off with a mischievous ellipsis and underlined in cold-blooded ceremony.

Nolan’s endlessly inventive use of in-camera pyrotechnics, coupled with Hans Zimmer’s relentless percussive score, mean that, even at a rump-numbing 164 minutes, TDKR is nothing less than an awesome sensory feast. Not a dime of its estimated $250m budget has gone to waste. There’s not a stodgy frame in sight. Neither a single spoken word nor spray of debris out of place. At once seriously epic and epically serious, this is blockbuster filmmaking of the highest order, and nothing more than that.… Expand

This movie is incredible and it's so cool to me that Christopher Nolan directed a trilogy of superhero films.

The first line that Bane spoke I think I got chills. One of the best villain voices ever. Knowing what Bruce has done in the two earlier movies, this comeback story is so satisfying and hype. At the expense of his body, he is willing to give everything for the city of Gotham just because they need him. The addition of Catwoman after Bruce has just lost Rachel is a great choice. She is so unlike Rachel but brings out a new side of Bruce. The scene with him climbing out of the prison pit will always be unbelievably awesome. You know Bane is screwed at that point. But there is another factor that you don't really expect and that's obviously Ra's al Ghul's daughter. I think it's a bit random that she sleeps with Bruce early in the movie but that makes it more devastating when she betrays him. This film has one of the most satisfying endings ever as it fulfills a callback to Alfred's fantasy of breakfast. The only thing that I'm not sure about is Bruce ending up with Catwoman. I'm not sure if her morals and ideals line up with his but hey it's the last movie and we'll assume they live happily ever after… Expand

Like some other fans of director Christopher Nolan, I’ve been waiting for him to finish the Batman movies so he can move on to more original films like “Memento,” “The Prestige” and “Inception.”

After “The Dark Knight Rises,” I wouldn’t care if Nolan made five more Batman movies; but I’m pretty sure none would top this perceptive, enthralling and beautifully acted capstone to the trilogy that opened with “Batman Begins” in 2005.

What I liked best about “DKR” is that it’s not really an action movie -- not like “The Avengers,” for example, loaded with flashy hardware, big-budget explosions and not-always-convincing computerized effects.

As with Nolan’s “Dark Knight” (2008), the action scenes certainly are thrilling -- and better yet, the visuals are seamless; you cannot tell where reality ends and digital imagery begins.

And yet the new film really has only three action set-pieces -- the opening; an early chase; and a dazzling climax, including one of those countdown-to-detonation scenes that never seem to get old.

The rest of “DKR” is all plot, character and theme.

And what a plot it is.

Clocking in at nearly three hours, this epic clips along at a breathless pace. Every scene, every moment, every line is crucial, as Nolan and his writers weave each story-strand into a thickly braided cord that’s plenty strong enough to hold up all 164 minutes.

The climax features several nifty twists -- and that ending! Nolan does what you expect him to do; and then he does about five things you don’t -- providing all the closure you could ask for from a trilogy that now occupies nearly eight hours of screen time.

Despite its intricate plot, the tale is almost completely character driven, with masterful performances from Christian Bale, Morgan Freeman, Gary Oldman and especially newcomers Joseph Gordon-Levitt (as a hard-working cop) and Anne Hathaway, as Catwoman.

But the actor who deserves an Oscar here is Michael Caine.

Playing Batman’s capable butler, he exudes a gravitas that reminds viewers why a guy like Nolan hires a giant like Caine for a minor role.

On a side note, the late-film takeoever of Gotham City (a.k.a. Manhattan) -- in which the rich are stripped of their possessions amid an anarchic attempt to restore “balance” -- seems couched as a frightening forecast of what might happen if the “Occupy” movement really had its way.

Yet “DKR” will be remembered chiefly for its radiant humanity, its sense of the difference a few committed people can make, its focus on the importance of hope -- especially as reflected in the light-and-dark motif.

As an instance, the story features one of the most detestable villains in film history. Unlike the Joker played by both Nicholson and Ledger, Bane has absolutely no appeal, no sense of humor, no redeeming qualities whatsoever. Yet by its end, the film manages to show even him in a different light.

Among other things, it’s clear that he’s a foil for our hero: See how his name resembles that of both Batman and Bruce Wayne, and how his mask controls his pain -- a theme developed at some length.

Nolan has fashioned a comic-book-superhero movie that satisfies the conventions of the genre, yet also proves intellectually rich -- while at the same time touching hearts across all ages and genders; it’s an achievement even he may have a hard time matching.

Christian Bale throughout the whole of the Batman trilogy is incredible in his acting and portrayal of the The Dark Knight. His performance here is truly not fully grasped, insane amount of work he had to put in for this final movie. The amount of symbolism is incredible, everything is set up to show what a true hero must go through. Christian Bale takes the beatings and the abuse incredibly well- his performance is moving as if he truly was experiencing every single aspect of the action. Christian Bale depicts what superhero actors should aim for in terms of performance. Nolan once again pulls of a masterpiece even if subtle, his able to get in all the symbolism, motifs, and messages which extend to the themes of the movie and into real life politics and ideologies.

Tom Hardy... my word behind Heath Ledger he shows what a developed antagonist looks like and acts. Hardy as Bane is immense, he brings Banes character to life. From his mannerisms, to the fighting sequences, and even to the delivery of lines is perfection. Bane is such an amazing Villan and as I said this movie had so many subtle nudges. Bane I'm so firm is also a Dark Knight working for Thalia. He is a knight himself. Bane not only matched and exceeded the Batman in strength, prowess, but he was able to play the Psychological game. Tom Hardy needs to be given plaudits. I truly enjoyed his portrayal of Bane. The concept which Bane and the league of shadows were introduced was intriguing. It was so subtle, from the beginning there's theatrics and deception- even though there's a reveal the audience never knows the full picture. Bane said it best "... doesn't matter who we are, what matters is our plan." The opening scene with that line is foreshadowing that this is battle fought in the shadows. What you see isn't the full scope of the truth. Absolutely an incredible film, it was the perfect finale to the trilogy. It was meant to challenge us, meant to push our out of our comfort zones ( I mean which villain has ever been able to break Batmans spirit and body like Bane did- he showed Bruce Wayne was human even behind his Batman facade). I love that Bame also never exposes Bruce Wayne's identity as the Batman that's intentionally done- it's a sign of respect and perhaps a nod to the league of shadows who work in the dark. Even Bane himself says it best "no one cared who I was until I put on the mask" Bane wants to beat and break Bruce as the Batman not as Bruce Wayne- Batman is Banes actual match Bruce Wayne is irrelevant. The movie is incredible especially even with Thalias role, she's always in the shadows but right in front of you- she's the face of the devil but like Bane wigh his anarchy she gives off no indication whose in charge. Nolan and the team really changed superhero movies with the trilogy. Tom Harry's Bane will always stand alongside Ledgers Joker. Both performance were perfect for their given role. What a movie and an experience. 10/10.… Expand

I love how more tense his relationship with Alfred is. Man. Love that. All the advice Alfred gives him. I love it. "But we'd both know that you'd made it, that you were happy. I never wanted you to come back to Gotham. I always knew there was nothing here for you, except pain and tragedy. And I wanted something more for you than that. I still do."

That look Bruce gives when Alfred walks away. Ah. And then when Alfred leaves. "How dare you use Rachel to try and stop me." I love how Officer Blake is done. It's like he truly knows Bruce. I love the scene when he visits him. "I've seen that look on you're face before, it's the one I taught myself." "I don't know why you took the fall for Harvey Dent's murder, but I'm still a believer in the batman. Even if you're not."

Love that entire scene. And love that moment near the final act, Blake sees Batman beating up those guys and you just see the expression on Blake's face. He looked so happy to see his childhood hero kicking ass. It was awesome. Can we talk about Bane!? Ah, I love Bane! I thought he was a pretty great villian. Omgggg the first confrontation with Batman. "I was wondering what would break first, you're spirit or you're body!".

And I love that moment when the lights shut off and camera like turns on Bane, it was so cool. "Ohhhhh, so you thought Darkness was you're Ally." Awesome line! I love his escape in the opening scene! ".....Crashing this plane." Omg. "No! They expect one of us in the wreckage brother." "Have you stared the fire?". "Yes. THE FIRE RISES." Goddddddd. I love it haha.

Selina Kyle is pretty fun too. That moment when she was dancing with Bruce "Maybe you're being unrealistic about what's really in you're pants other then your wallet." And Bruce is like "Ouch." … Expand

The Dark Knight Rises grossed over a billion dollars and became Nolan’s highest grossing film as well as one of the highest grossing films of all time.

Originally, Nolan was hesitant to make a third film after The Dark Knight, but he agreed after developing a script with his brother which they felt would conclude the series on a satisfactory note. Upon its release, The Dark Knight was well received critically and praised for its performances, action sequences and direction.

The impact of The Dark Knight Trilogy and The Dark Knight Rises is something that marks it out as one of the greats. There’s another reason Chris Nolan is my favourite director, asides from how he explores emotion and humanity, it’s also in his ability to immerse audiences in visceral spectacle. He’s - inlove the movies. The movies rule. Especially this.

There’s another reason Chris Nolan is my favourite director, asides from how he explores emotion and humanity, it’s also in his ability to immerse audiences in visceral spectacle. He’s - in my opinion - one of the best at handling and displaying spectacle.

The Dark Knight Rises sees him executing spectacle at his best, perhaps with Inception and Tenet. It’s quite a wonder how well the action in this film works with Nolan’s strengths, and with the story.

I also think Rises is just powerful thematically, despite being misunderstood by others. Many people see this as a film with muddled politics, as a pro-cop film and I’ve always laughed that off, I just can’t see that in this, at all? If anything, it’s quite literally the opposite. Every conversation between Jim Gordon and Blake serves as a reminder of the reality of systems like the police force, that they serve as mere shackles to the means of justice and righteousness, that these things can only be achieved from working outside the system, as Blake does at the end of the film, as Blake chooses to pursue and continue with by quitting the force. Blake’s entire character, his arc, stands as a testament to that, to the ineffective reality of systems in regards to justice.

And just to cement another reason for me loving Rises, Nolan’s brilliance at connecting with emotion, with being a warm filmmaker excels here, especially with how he brings one of my favourite performances out of Michael Caine, in the small amount of time he’s in the film. A heartbroken Alfred leaving Bruce in desolation over his fears coming true, over trepidation that Bruce would rather die a hero than live long enough to not need to be a hero. It’s a beautiful performance that resonates with the love we hold for others, the worry that emanates out of care. Bale gives his most personal work as the caped crusader here too. An emotional farewell to the character, that is illuminated in his stance for morality and his selflessness for his city.

Emotion blending into spectacle, quite literally even bleeding into it. I love this film, plentifully.… Expand

Exactly the type of swing that Nolan might respect. This film is such a large swing that the only canvas it could fit in would be one of IMAX. This is such a gigantic epic that only a story that involves social, economical, political, historical and philosophical issues would be appropriating. The film is such a behemoth that it has thousands of cops, led by Matthew Modine, fighting thousands of terrorists while Batman battles Bane. It’s a film in which the first sequence manages to one up the predecessor in ways no one expected. Nolan made a film where literally A Tale of Two Cities is the inspiration. It’s simple to assume that this is an epic in the likes of David Lean, Sergey Bondarchuk, William Wyler and Sergei Eisenstein. Yet, it manages to feel quite personal, in the sense that this is the story about Bruce Wayne resurrecting himself and restore the faith that drove him to be the symbol for the greater, a symbol that would later save Gotham figuratively and literally. The Dark Knight Rises is at its heart about Bruce Wayne accepting his past traumas and finally moving on from the anger that has held him. This movie was my favorite film out of the Nolan trilogy. This wrapped everything he set up perfectly. This also shows the mastermind that Christopher Nolan is. The casting is still great. The gravitas of Oldman Caine and Freeman just add so much weight and levity to characters which could not have been anything special. Tom Hardy is excellent as Bane and I love the way they shoot scenes to make Hardy seem larger then he actually is. He is almost the representation of pure evil and is the definition of intimidating. His famous 'I will break you' line from Batman Knightfall in 1993 has lived on to one of my favourite comic series and I love the soft adaptation that it gets. Selina Kyle contributed to some of my development in this movie in the same way that Carrie Fisher as slave Leia contributed too many children's development. Marion Cotillard is good as Tate but probably the weakest actor as she gets really cheesy towards the end. It's ironic as she is one of the better actors as a whole but doesn't always bring it for this movie. The most underrated performance though comes at the hand of the main actor and Bale knocks it out of the park again. Probably his best performance in any of these movies.

The action is easily the best in any of the Dark Knight trilogy. Its funny ironically however as it means that Catwoman has some of the best action. The jewel in the crown though is Batman vs Bane in the sewers which is so cool. Speaking of which this is one of those extremely quotable movies due to Bane. My favourite is easily 'oh you think darkness is your ally, but you merely adopted the dark. I was born in it Moulded by it, I didn't see the light until I was a man, by then it was nothing to me but blinding'. This all combines to make one of my favourite scenes when Batman escapes the pit and as a detail I love the bats coming out just before he jumps.

Very rich plot. Its my favourite type of plot as if you are barely focusing on it you still get everything that happens but if you really focus you pick up every minute detail and I love those sorts of plots so much. The cameos also really surprise me as I didn't expect Scarecrow to rock up the first time I watched it. It's also miraculously well directed. Nolans over the city shots alongside his practical work, work wonders to create a realistic but also extravagant movie. His cinematography is also fantastic. It also continues the trend in his films to sometimes not have a concrete ending and in my opinion that works better.

The dark moral of a corrupt political climate that The Dark Knight Rises shows through Gotham’s grief is really excellent when the perspective is put on the issue. With Bane’s ever lasting commitment to pulling off pain in the city, and Miranda’s morality with her revenge it sets off a never ending stream for the tone of the film to follow along. Then Bruce wanting to be his own nation “per say” and do it without the willingness of others around him. Focusing on the complexities of the film is what I loved during this rewatch. Half of the dark blend of Nolan’s direction and the surrounding technicals are what send this film off another level. With each of his films he keeps that dark tone and hits a nerve on the edge of your seat with every picture he makes. With each shot he focuses his time on making it make sense and capturing the message and/or symbolism of the scene. I don’t really talk about it that much because it never turned to conversation but honestly the greatest scene in this film is the Star Spangled Banner Scene. The symbolism of that is so impressive. Your honestly watching one of the most messed up scenes in the history of Cinema. By using that song in the angelic voice of that young child symboled the freedom Gotham felt, but we as an audience no good and well it’s not. And the feel of the scene is so damn intense. I always notice that it’s only the kid singing, noticing that nothing else is happening except the anthem of freedom being used as the last thing to be heard before that feeling of freedom is stripped away entirely. Bane then going on to say “that’s a lovely, lovely voice” knowing good and well he’s about to kill that symbol of freedom singing the anthem of freedom. After that scene the third act takes off and the film gets nothing but brilliant. The technical blend as well deals with the more explosive side of visual effects. They go so well with the film it’s hard to take your eyes off. The character of Bane has to be the best part about this film. Not only is he so **** misused in other DC properties and gets his rightful spotlight, but Tom Hardy’s ability to make such an evil character and use that flow of darkness that Bane is so viscously proves that Christopher Nolan can be a director to take risk, and that arc of doing all of this for Miranda was pretty much a great twist. And I’d just say I recognize the hate that Miranda gets for her twist of being the head mastermind and not Bane, but I honestly think that the writers so greatly used their minds to convincingly show why she was the one behind it. Overall, The Dark Knight Rises should go in the all time books, and be shown as a way to tell a unique perspective on political corruption.… Expand

I have always had a soft spot for this movie simply because we get to see a damaged, older Bruce Wayne. Growing up on Batman Beyond, with a very old Bruce, it was"Once you've done what you had to, they'll never let you do what you want to."
I have always had a soft spot for this movie simply because we get to see a damaged, older Bruce Wayne. Growing up on Batman Beyond, with a very old Bruce, it was just so cool seeing a non-suave, beaten down version of the character. We get to see that The Batman is a fallible character, he can be hurt, destroyed, and broken. Nolan really touches some political topics in this, about wealth and those in power and revolution. He doesn't make any grand statements on this but including this in one of the biggest blockbuster movies was awesome. Hardy, Hathaway, and Cotillard all come out swinging in this, having to bear a whole lot of the weight of the movie. Hathaway is just a perfect Catwoman and we get an incredible depth to the character in this, more than I've ever seen in previous iterations. They just balanced the romantic side of her and Bruce so well, letting us see it and know it's there, but making it in the background. It still just in a stab in the heart when she betrays him, and makes it mean so much more when she tries to stop him from going back into Gotham to save the city one last time. Hardy pulls off one of the more difficult performances, as he has to show so much with his face being covered the entire time.
They are both just able to pull off the physicality of the roles so well, while also just having so much depth. And of course Caine is beyond spectacular and delivers the "I won't bury any more members of the Wayne family" line that just summarizes the depth of their relationship so well. Using JGL as a vehicle for showing what Batman means to kids, and to show the struggle of being part of the police and how the help and hurt the pursuit of justice. This really does feel like a grand epic, a fall and rise of a character, justice, and a city. There's so much happening in this movie, so much it's trying to do and say, and it is just able to nail everything. I don't think I appreciated before, the symbolism of the pit and the well that Bruce falls in Batman Begins, but it hit me this time and it just really tied it all together. It's just beautiful as you would always expect from Nolan and Alfred/Bruce's ending look at each other will always make me tear up. And when JGL goes up into the batcave I always always get chills.… Expand

The Dark Knight Rises is the third and concluding chapter to Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy, and is what I consider to be, a grand fitting end to the Christian Bale Batman/Bruce Wayne story arc. Released in 2012 to tremendous box office and critical reception, The Dark Knight Rises managed to become the highest grossing Batman film of all time, surpassing the hefty financial gain of The Dark Knight (2008), and still bares that title to this day. The Dark Knight Rises also has a few criticisms drawn from fans and critics alike, despite its mainly universal appraisal. Luckily for me, I'm not one of these hateful naysayers that hold any vice against this film.
Drawing inspiration from various Batman comics storylines, such as "Knightfall," "No Man's Land," and "The Dark Knight Returns," The Dark Knight Rises manages to convey an engaging and effectively entertaining plot that's jampacked with numerous allusions, homages, colossal themes, and most importantly, a gratifying and emotionally powerful conclusion. Christopher Nolan really outdid himself with this production. Not only do we get a phenomenal plot, but we get phenomenal choreographed action sequences and intense visuals. The special effects alone are a treat to the eyes!!
Christian Bale is remarkable in his final performance as Bruce Wayne, bringing us a battle-hardened, broken hero who must rise past his broken spirit (and broken physical limitations thanks to Bane and previous fights) in order to save Gotham City from total nuclear destruction. Familiar faces aiding him such as characters portrayed by Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman, and Gary Oldman bring their A-game in their final roles also. Newcomer Joseph Gordon Levitt does great as cop John Blake. And Marion Cotillard delivers an alluring, mystifying dual-identity role as Miranda Tate/Talia Al Ghul.
But it's fellow newcomers Tom Hardy and Anne Hathaway that really stand out. The Bane we get in this movie is a lot different than the remedial one we get in Batman And Robin (1997); this new one portrayed greatly by Tom Hardy feels almost ripped straight from the comic books: an intelligent mountain of a man, who poses as both a physical and intellectual threat to Batman. Behind Heath Ledgers groundbreaking performance of The Joker, he's my favorite Batman villain in Nolan's trilogy.
Anne Hathaway portrays Selina Kyle/Catwoman, a professional cat burglar, grifter, and femme fatale who develops a relationship with Bruce Wayne/Batman. She manages to evoke the sense of who Catwoman really is, and does such a great performance, she rivals Michelle Pfeifer's take on the character in Tim Burton's Batman Returns (1992). Lest we forget the intricate and meticulously well-shot 70mm IMAX cinematography? Or Han Zimmer's delightfully haunting musical score? Or every sliver of a detail perfectly synchronised to make connection and reference to the entire trilogy as a whole? No, lest us not forget.
I still choose The Dark Knight as my favorite of Nolan's brilliant Dark Knight Trilogy, as well as my favorite comic book adapted film of all time; but The Dark Knight Rises will blow you away regardless.… Expand

Watching this film for the first time in theaters, with no knowledge of filmmaking, not even a movie fan at that time, just a normal audience going in the theatres for a ride, I remember coming out completely satisfied and floored. This film still crowns the most pristine look for an action film. The cinematography, the snow falling in the city of Gotham, everything about the visuals of this film is just screaming awesomeness, and for the longest time I hold this film as the pinnacle of the best looking action film and I still do.

In many ways, the minor flaws in here is so insignificant compare to the memorable bits of the film. This rendition of cat woman is by far the best one ever. Anne Hathaway achieves the perfect balance of sexiness and the feminine wit in this character, the visual design is also perfect. Bane is such an underrated villain, Tom Hardy adds so much on the character’s simple motivation, the menace through his voice and his physicality rivals Batman and his energy brought so much to the tension we felt in the film. The opening and ending scene is one of the best in movie cinema.

One of my favourite aspects of this film is how Nolan coins the genre of the superhero saga into a prison break movie. The design of the pit is visually so mesmerizing, every time the camera points up to the light and we see the cave of the prison, the picture just becomes this visceral canvas of beauty in horror. The moment when Bruce Wayne confronts his true fear by foregoing the only security from the rope, it’s honestly so badass that it trumps every other character moment in any Marvel movies and DC movies for that matter.

After so many years, there’s still not one DCEU movie that achieves this style of epic grounded action thriller where Nolan single-handedly master in Hollywood. It’s only until 2016 where Denis Villeneuve finally managed to make something that comes close to that level of authentic grandness.

The Dark Knight Rises also has the best score in the trilogy in my opinion, the best score for any hero movies, the perfect balance of grandness, epicness, the unsung melancholy and the haunting beauty of romantic sacrifice.

While it may not have consistently great dialogue, it still have great characters and Nolan should hold this close to him for his next film… Expand

Probably talking about TDKR. It doesn’t have a conservative message like some people think, nor does it have a liberal message. For one the movie shows that it’s not about keeping poor people in there place. Joseph Gordon-Levitts character is proof of that as he talks about the inspiration that Batman gives to the orphans. Batman isn’t fighting with the cops because all cops are good, he’s fighting with them because he needs backup to protect against Banes radical team. All three Dark Knight movies show corrupt cops so it’s not a pro cop movie and it’s not an anti cop movie either. Because it also shows heroic cops. Batman says in Begins that he became a criminal for a short time to better understand them. That’s why he doesn’t kill. The people Bane is working with are criminals not just regular people. It's probably not chiefly about OWS, but it's pretty clearly a commentary on the idea of occupation, be it recent examples like Iraq or OWS or past instances throughout history. I do think it's a distinct shot at populism in general, which makes sense because Nolan is clearly a director who is obsessed with the WHAT and HOW, but is less able to actually emote and think about the WHY. We can probably tease that out and figure out his politics pretty easily.
Ultimately, I read TDKR as a defense of liberal democracy, and that it strains to strip that defense of left or right ideology. You can criticize that all you want rightfully so, as the sheer idea of democracy without ideology is centrist liberal/libertarian **** but it is definitely not a whole sale condemnation of OWS. In fact, if it came out now exactly the same, people would apply anyone from Trump to Bernie to Bane's character… Expand

Starring some of the best of Nolan’s favourite actors, the film achieved the impossible and tied up as many loose ends as it could in a satisfying and fulfilling way, whilst also having us beg for more. Eight years later, fans remain desperate to know what became of Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s John Blake, who revealed his real name to be ‘Robin’ after inheriting the Batcave in Bruce Wayne’s last will and testament.

Is he Robin? Is he Nightwing? Is he Batman the Second? Is he … still a cop who uses Batman’s technology to find bad guys quicker to fast-track himself to Chief of Police?

Seeing as Nolan has said the franchise is over, we’ll probably never know.

This is going to be like a combo of my review of the movie and just my general thoughts on the trilogy as a whole but in both regards it deserves nothing but the highest praise.The Dark Knight Rises: 9.5/10 Goated, absolutely **** goated. This is going to be like a combo of my review of the movie and just my general thoughts on the trilogy as a whole but in both regards it deserves nothing but the highest praise. Such a brilliant display of everything from audio-visual work to narrative structure and characterization this trilogy really does it all. The score was absolutely outstanding from beginning to end and in this movie I felt like the score did so much to amplify all of the scenes regardless of what was happening. The dialogue was amazing, iconic one liners and more subtle conversations that carry so much emotional weight it doesnt feel like a single line is wasted at any point which is extremely difficult to do. The cast is so well done, can we just talk about how this one trilogy has some of the best protagonists antagonists and side characters in all of fiction? Every character arc was explored and developed to its fullest from beginning to the end, characters that are introduced in one movie get the proper amount of development necessary to flesh out every aspect and ultimately creates some of the most iconic performances in all of media. This movie had that in spades, in particular it had a lot of really good development for Commissioner Gordon who was already one of my favorite characters in the trilogy but this cemented it for me. My favorite character in this movie in particular was Catwoman for sure, she served as a super interesting counterbalance for Batman acting as sort of a more self-serving out for herself version of him and god damn was it fun to watch. Amazing performance Anne Hathaway absolutely killed it, its honestly kinda nuts how well she fit the role imo. Bane was another really interesting character, had some great dialogue, and his characterization was really well done. I think one of the main themes of this trilogy is the idea of chaos and how it brings out the worst in people, and Bane is a fantastic device used to explore this idea. I think The Joker was the better device through which this was explored but like I think thats being a little bit unfair so its whatever, both are fantastic in their own rights. Also this ending might be one of the best most conclusive most satisfying endings to anything that I have ever watched or read, everything fit perfectly into place, I just wanted to see my boy Bruce happy and thats exactly what we got, the ending had me straight up crying it was so good. I came to become so invested in these characters over the course of these movies and it feels so good to see this trilogy end in such a beautiful way. This trilogy is absolutely goated in every way, shape and form, Christopher Nolan is a genius.,I'm not even mad that we didn’t get any more it’s absolutely perfect. i just rewatched this film for the first time in a few years and boy was it much better than i remembered.
this film offers a new look at gotham compared to the dark, gritty criminal underworld present in the first two films. we can see ai just rewatched this film for the first time in a few years and boy was it much better than i remembered.
this film offers a new look at gotham compared to the dark, gritty criminal underworld present in the first two films. we can see a gotham that has prospered in the last few years, moving out of the darkness both figuratively and literally. most of the scenes in this movie are set in broad daylight, which is a refreshing change from the last two entries.
tom hardy is excellent as Bane in this movie. he is the first villain in this series that truly feels like an unstoppable force. the moment where the whole plan comes together, the cops are trapped underground and bane declares anarchy on the football field was chilling and was the first time i felt as though there were real stakes from a villain.
i do find miranda tate being the true villain an excellent twist. she is Bruce’s reckoning, a cultivation of everything he has done and him quite literally facing his past dealings with the league of shadows and the consequences of his never ending work to protect gotham. i do wish they’d built up her relationship with bruce a bit more, though, as their romance did seem to come out of nowhere, but in the end it made the twist even more jaw dropping. this movie is long, and there is a LOT going on, but for the most part the pacing is pretty good. there were definitely parts that could’ve been cut out, this film suffers from agonisingly long and boring car chases like the dark knight does. other than that there isn’t much i would change about this movie.
anne hathaway is also spectacular in this movie and was very enjoyable to watch. i found myself enjoying every scene she was in and we get to see her grow from the selfish to the selfless across the movie. this movie also features great performances all round. out of the main ensemble i can’t say there are any weak performances.
my favourite scenes would have to be the ones of bruce in the pit. he is quite literally reborn there and the harrowing chants of the prisoners as someone attempts to climb is something that i always remembered from the first time i watched this movie.
this movie excels at being the end of the trilogy - batman’s final mission. with the highest stakes ever, and one of the most impressive villains i have ever seen in a superhero movie, it’s an enjoyment to watch from start to finish. And in the final scene where we see the plane fly off with the bomb and batman inside it we are quite literally seeing the death of batman. bruce may still be alive but he has hung up the cape, and the batman died along with the bomb leaving a beautiful well-wrapped ending to one of the best trilogies of all time.

i don’t see much point making more batman movies after these ones, they are hard to flaw are greatly celebrated even today. afflecks batman wasnt great, but he still feels like he stands in the shadow of Bale, which i also worry will happen to Pattinson once “The Batman” releases. after rewatching the remarkable ending to a franchise it has got me thinking about how future movies can compete, and in my opinions batman should be left to rest for now. the dark knight rises is the perfect fulfilling ending to batman and his story… Expand

Already you have the groundwork laid out from the previous film 'The Dark Knight' to follow up with Batman, running from the police who now has to tackle a new threat. It could not be done in a more mind-shattering and brilliant way.

Bane's character, while seemingly a bit generic, quickly makes you realize how much you've taken him for granted when learning more about his backstory. Every time he walks on the screen he has a presence. I would say the same for the Joker, but he's been unfortunately memed too much for me to take him 'so serious' anymore.

The way in which Bruce must rise again from the pit truly felt inspiring, and how he climbed out without the rope, the safety which he had always throughout the previous films. To me, that rope was symbolic of everyone he had with him throughout the films. Alfred, Rachel, and Dent as well. Now he had lost them all to the very same symbol which he crawls back to every night. He still finds the courage to put it on one last time.

This time especially, I felt extremely interested in all other subplots in the movie. Gone was the fun but slightly stale 2000s grain and the lower mm cameras. This really plays up the aesthetic which Gotham is, and also allows for Gotham City to feel breathed in, as though people are really walking through it. This is something I never truly feel in any other Batman series or adaptation.

To say this is the best Batman movie is an understatement. This really is the peak of Nolan's filmmaking for me. Everything from the acting, choreography, the score, and much more is such a step up from both predecessors. It never ceases to amaze me how much effort must have gone into this film.

I still love this so so so so much. I never appreciated the score or the cinematography but man they are both great. The scene when Bane and Batman fight and it switches from like 1.85 to IMAX is so good. And the lack of music makes it allI still love this so so so so much. Rises is an epic conclusion to the Dark Knight story, and wraps up everything it needed to perfectly one of the best damn comicbook movies I've ever witnessed. Nolan's trilogy will always be close to my heart, and still yet to be topped and proberly never will be.

Following up after The Dark Knight is a near impossible task, and could easily have been a disaster. But not on Nolan's watch, he gives us a final chapter which is darker, innovetive, thrilling, compelling, emotional, full of twists, bigger in scale, builds on previous events and that delivered beyond my expectations.

The story is more focused on Bruce then Batman which may have disappointed some fans, but not me. The script masterfully completes the arc of Bruce Wayne and does a solid justice to Bob Kane's creation. The writing is sharp, poetic and delicious. While Nolan introduces new techniques to his direction style, that enhances the storytelling experience to make it more engaging and immersive. The action is awesome, in particular the hand to hand fights between Batman and Bane. Zimmer's score is better then ever with melodies on an epic scope, and Pfister's stunning imagery completes the final ingrediant to an incredible movie.

Performances are outstanding. Bale is the best he's ever been, Caine brings that powerful emotional weight and rest of the returning cast play their parts beautifully. Hathaway is a great Catwoman, and Hardy delivers a terrifying villain of intimidating brawn and high level interlect who I believe over more time will be appreciated more. He is the ultimate foe for Bruce and the perfect final challenge.… Expand

The Dark Knight Rises is hands down the greatest conclusion to any trilogy. I loved pretty much everything about this movie. I also think it is the best movie in the franchise, even better than The Dark Knight albeit just by a narrow margin.The Dark Knight Rises is hands down the greatest conclusion to any trilogy. The action sequences are incredible, the characters are very well fleshed out and Bane is one of the greatest villains of all time, while I don't think he's quite as good as The Joker but he's certainly an iconic villain.

What I really love about this film is that it focuses on Bruce and his psychological obsession with Batman far more than the previous film did. He is a broken man in this one, he had to hang up his cape and cowl after taking the fall for Harvey Dent's crimes in the previous film yet he can't move on from the pain of his parents death and his obsession of being Batman. He has spent the past 4 years waiting for things to go bad in Gotham so he has a reason to become Batman once more and die protecting Gotham. Bruce's character arc in this film is pretty much flawless, Christopher Nolan somehow took a very fantasy element of the comics being the Lazarus Pit and adapted it to fit in the real world. In order for Bruce to rise from the pit he must regain his fear of death, he must care about his own life once again and in a way once he rises from it he has been reborn a new man, one who cares about his life and will fight not only for Gotham, not only for the people but for himself.

Do not listen to the haters, there is a very small yet vocal minority of haters who can't stand it that this film made over a billion dollars yet didn't need the Joker, as a result they made up a bunch of nit picky complaints such as Bruce quit being Batman because of Rachel (he didn't, Rachel was the reason he couldn't let go of his obsession), that there weren't enough Batsuit scenes, some people are even stupid enough to think the bomb would have caused a tsunami yet anyone with a basic understanding of plate tectonics knows that isn't possible.

Overall this movie is an absolute masterpiece and it is a very fulfilling conclusion to the greatest trilogy ever.… Expand

theres a scene in the beginning of this film where alfred as a conversation with bruce about how he goes to florence once a year for vacation and he always wishes that one day he would see bruce there with a woman. they wouldnt say anything, but alfred would know that bruce made it in. alfred never wanted to see bruce back in gotham when he first left. he wanted to see bruce happy.

thats one of my favorite scenes ever, and after this rewatch, this is one of my favorite MOVIES ever. i think it has the best technical film making out of any of these 3 movies. it has my favorite character out of them all in bane, my favorite movie quote EVER (above), a lot of my favorite scenes in movies ever (opening plane scene, football scene, bane vs batman in the cave, bane vs batman in gotham and that whole captial building showdown, getting rid of the bomb scene, the ending, which is A LOT of scenes i know), and some of the best choreographed and shot action that ive seen in a comic book film. the action scenes in this movie are always high intensity and badass.

bane is so scary, its because you can feel how much power he has. he is such a skilled fighter and mercenary.. the dominance him and his malitia have is so threatening. everything he does is threatening. banes one liners are great too!! he is the perfect villain, strong, powerful in society/crime, very smart and methodical, and is actually a very high threat to the protagonist(s). bruce waynes return gets me so hyped up, you have no clue. i kinda like that he feels a little more vulnerable in this film than in the dark knight where he was an unstoppable force. bane is clearly more skilled and stronger than batman, which is good. i love that so much. joseph gordon-levitt is a great addition to the film, so happy with his character in the film. seeing morgan freeman, michael caine, and gary oldman return was so delightful. anne hathaway is one of the most attractive women on the whole planet, id let her hit me with a truck. like bro please break my wrists..

the ending of this film is amazing. jgl is teased to carry batmans legacy, and im glad he doesnt and that it ends there. gotham is saved. gordon and lucius go out with a good realization moment, and with time winding down in the film, it comes full circle. alfreds dreams come true. he goes on vacation to venice, and sees bruce wayne sitting across from him with a woman. they make eye contact, dont say a word. bruce made it. never wants to see bruce in gotham again… Expand

Incredible film. The build up and suspense of everything, especially to see how it played out in the third act was brilliant all around. Now I’m gonna go into some random thoughts. Now I’m gonna go into some random thoughts. Miranda Tate being al Ghul’s kid, biggest stab in the back ever. I loved seeing the prison and how Nolan paralleled that with the well and bats in Batman Begins. Selina Kyle, badass. Also, bad af. With Alfred, the foreshadowing and him seeing Bruce with a wife, paying off in the end, was awesome. John Blake’s real name being revealed as Robin, blew my mind. It was also cool to see him sort of take over the bat cave in the end. When Bruce died, I was tearing up. What actually crushed me though was seeing Alfred crying in front of all three Wayne’s graves. But then, we learned the autopilot on the Bat was actually fixed, by BRUCE. I was definitely smiling hard there. Alfred seeing Selina and Bruce in the end brought another tear or two to my eye. Right before the credits, Alfred got to see everything he ever wanted for Bruce. Very rewarding film, and my favorite of the trilogy if I'm being totally honest… Expand

Where to begin. It starts out with an absolute bang. Another movie to the trilogy, another extremely badass, villain of the century introduced. Bane is intimidating, ruthless, badass, a myth; everything a great villain should be: pure evil.Where to begin. It starts out with an absolute bang. Another movie to the trilogy, another extremely badass, villain of the century introduced. Bane is intimidating, ruthless, badass, a myth; everything a great villain should be: pure evil. We immediately are hooked to the story that continues unraveling through the next parts of the movie. We get to see yet another deep and dark interpretation of Bruce Wayne/The Batman. Once again, Christopher Nolan flawlessly executes the complexity of the character and gives us so much more than just that. We see Wayne using his fears, his pain, his suffering to overcome those very things and rise above. We see our beloved Alfred giving his all to what can only be described as his father-son relationship with Bruce. We see new characters appear for the first time, such as the talented burglar, Catwoman, who also gets a very deep character and personality behind the mask. We get to see a mere cop, who gives his city his all, and risks his very life for the great good, representing a symbol of pure goodness. Not a single moment throughout this movie that makes you feel bored or not entertained. It’s filled with amazing CGI; next level story-telling; suspense to keep you at your toes; character development that makes you connect to them in a way you never have before. You can literally feel the pain Bruce is going through, you can literally feel his journey to overcoming it. With deep connections and conclusions to the other two movies, The Dark Knight Rises concludes the perfect trilogy in the most perfect way imaginable, with a deep and emotional ending that had me in tears… Expand

Tom Hardy's expressions with his eyes alone as Bane, Anne Hathaway as a super hot Cat-Woman, and Batman action, stunts, and triumphs/comebacks that have been never before seen makes this 3rd installment completely and unforgettably monumental!
