Of course the Film has a lot of loop holes and glitches but that doesn't take away the edge of the seat thrilling heartbeat experience. What i loved most was the way a simple comic story was presented on the screen. I really appreciate Nolan's creativity and presentation. What one needs was an awesome experience and not 100% logic to Action movies. The film stand all amid all minor glitches. The film has a lot of positives, The way Bruce & Tom Hardy character was portrayed, The way Real New York city was presented, The way the Whole experience stood at the end especially Bruce climbing out of the Well. Hans Zimmer Played a wonderful part in giving a master piece. All in All i would recommend everyone to watch whether they like it or not but for the cinematic experience it gives in the end. A Comic Super Hero Movie depicted magnificently after a lot of flops earlier. Nolan has silently conveyed that he is the right man who can do it Expand

This is my first of many movies to come.

I am sad at the fact that this is the last of the Chris Nolan Batman film series, because there may never be anyone that can top this amazing Directorial performance...mainly I'm speaking about this film. Dark Knight Rises.

Christian Bale delivered a mastering performance as Bruce Wayne and Batman. When faced against Bane for the first time, he revealed a side about Bruce & Batman that not many people same to remember. Batman is only human.

Tom Hardy was brilliant as Bane. He must have trained for months, because he was bigger than the Batman.

For the first time in all the Nolan Batman series, Batman finally met his true match against a man more physically powerful and bigger than he was. Did I mention he was quite agile for a big man? Bane was no Joker, but Bane was exactly what Joker was not...very, very strong.

The fight sequences between the two were some of the most exciting scenes of the film.

Michael Caine delivered again in his performance as Alfred.

I was surprised to see Morgan Freeman more involved in action sequences this time around, but he did great as Mr. Fox.

As Commissioner Gordon, Gary Oldman played the role perfectly. Personally I still believe that he did a better job with the Gordon character in Dark Knight, but he still did great in this one. I love his reaction at the end when Batman hints his identity to him. Boy was he surprised.

Anne Hathaway, my Goddess...I love you. You are by far the best Catwoman I've ever seen. Yes...even better than Michelle Pfeiffer. She was a devious but extremely sexy and quite intelligent Catwoman.

Joseph Gordon Levitt's performance caught me quite off guard. I was not sure about his character, Blake, until his scenes came up and to be honest, they were exciting. He delivers time and time again and has solidified himself as a potential A-List Actor. I look forward to seeing more movies of his in the upcoming future.

I felt Marion Cotillard's part was quite small compared to Inception, but she came through in the end and wow. She's a beautiful actress who was on her game in this film.

I was very happy to see Liam Neeson return for a few seconds. I always thought he played a great Ra's Al Ghul.

Overall, I plan to continue watching this movie time and time again for the rest of my life. I love this film and the ending to Nolan's vision of his Batman series was in my opinion satisfying.

I'm wondering what the studios plan to do to re-boot the Batman series. Needless to say, it's gonna be almost impossible to top Nolan's Batman films.

I'm an aspiring film maker and needless to say...Nolan is someone I look up to when it comes to film making. Thank you Chris Nolan for bringing back the life the Batman films needed.

10 out 10. This film is a must see.

In one word WOW!!! The Dark Knight Rises really expanded my expectations. Christopher Nolan has crafted a near masterpiece of a film and this is the most ambitious and emotional of the Dark Knight franchise.

So the story goes like this: It has been eight years since the caped crusader took the fall for Harvey Dent's crimes and death and now a prowling catwomen comes out of the alley and interests Bruce Wayne when she steals his mother's precious pearls. But, an even greater and more dangerous villain has arrived, Bane. Bane is a super-strong hulk-like villain with plans to destroy all of Gotham City and its citizens. Now it is up to Bruce Wayne to become his alter-ego Batman and put the cowl and costume on one last time.

Everything about this movie is amazing and epic, its visual effects are stunning and the set pieces and cinematography is beautiful. But, this would not be a great film if it weren't for its well-acted and convincing cast. Christian Bale is at his best in this film playing his best portrayal of Batman/Bruce Wayne yet. Tom Hardy is dark, brooding, and scary as Bane and he is excellent in his role. His performance is mainly scary due to his body-language and facial expressions. Anne Hathaway plays Selina Kyle, who is Catwomen. At first, I was very skeptical if she could pull it off given that her real talent in acting was in comedy, but boy did she do a superb job as playing this sexy and cunning character. Marion Cotiilard plays the glamorous Miranda Tate, a Wayne Enterprises executive. Hats off to Michael Caine for playing Alfred, he should win a best supporting actor. Michael Caine is at his best and most emotional in this film. Morgan Freeman is great as always playing the 007 Q-like gadget guy. Joseph Gordon-Levitt plays Officer John Blake who thinks Batman is innocent and has a really good heart in the movie; Joseph Gordon Levitt shines in his role. Then, you have the always great Gary Oldman planning LT. Gordon, who for a while in the film is in the hospital.

The cast is great, the acting is great, the story is great, the effects are amazing. I cannot recommend this film enough. This is the conclusion fans have been waiting for and this "Ends the Legend" with a bang.

Then Christopher Nolan gave us The Dark Knight and I felt it was on a whole other level than Batman Begins. I went into the cinema to The Dark Knight Rises on the day of release with high expectations. These were blown away! I even went to see it at the cinema again and I've never done that before! (I understand other people saw it many more times but still a first for me)

The acting was absolutely superb! Christian Bale was at his very best playing Bruce Wayne/Batman. Michael Caine was brilliant as Alfred despite his short screen time and I feel the performance was Oscar nomination worthy. Anne Hathaway was a better Catwoman than I could have imagined. Joseph Gordon Levitt was really good as Blake. Gary Oldman and Morgan Freeman were good as always playing Gordon and Fox. Marion Cotillard was good as Miranda as well. Finally Tom Hardy as Bane. I thought this was good casting from the start but I never imagined something quite this good! Tom Hardy stole the show for me just like Heath Ledger did in The Dark Knight. Bane is one of my favourite baddies of all time now and while it wasn't quite as good as The Joker, it was as close as it was ever going to come. Tom Hardy is worthy of an Oscar nom for his portrayal of Bane especially since he was restricted with the mask and had to convey emotions through eyes, voice and body language. There were a few moments where I couldn't understand his voice but sometimes it just took a few extra seconds to absorb it and his voice sounds too awesome to care anyway.

Wally Pfisters cinematography was incredible once again and I think I see another Oscar nomination for him.

Hans Zimmer's score was his greatest yet in my opinion and it really added to the emotional depth of the film and just got you into the film right from the start. Dare I say it another Oscar nomination?

Finally Christopher Nolan's Direction was incredible as always and I truly believe this to be his finest creation to date and he must get an Oscar nomination if not his first win, he definitely deserves it.

Overall this film was outstanding, one of the greatest films ever made, the finest of Nolan's Batman trilogy and the best superhero movie of all time. An Oscar nomination is deserved and I think any other film coming out this year will struggle to beat it

Christopher Nolan is able to give us a movie that for me is better than TDK. Delivered by is strong performances, intelligent plot, good visuals and extraordinary soundtrack, we receive the most amazing movie in history. As I already saw in YouTube comments we have one that says "In Christopher Nolan we trust", and all I can say is yes we can truly trust Christopher for is ability of doing amazing movies that we can't easily forget. But is not just the director that transforms this movie in a spectacular ride, the cast also. I will not forget Christian Bale's powerful performance as Batman, Michael Caine as Alfred, Gary Oldman as Gordon and Morgan Freeman as Lucius who accompanied us the entire trilogy and that in this film joined by Anne Hathaway as Catwoman, Tom Hardy as Bane, Joseph Gordon-Levitt as John Blake and Marion Cotillard as Miranda Tate, are able to do this film the best.

This Trilogy is certainly the Best of all time and this movie is certainly not to miss

The Dark knight is awesome in every sense of the word. I loved it, it was Superbly and almost Impeccably suspenseful. Especially the part where Bruce was stuck in the cave and trying to get out. It was thrilling and superbly suspenseful. In my mind I Was cheering for Bruce and actually felt for him. The action in the movie well superbly well done. The Dark Knight Rises surpasses its predecessors on an immense scale. The Acting, The Plot, The Story, The Characters, The ending, all of these elements far exceed the standard set by the Dark Knight. The Dark Knight Rises is superbly better than the Dark Knight. I Also felt the Tension between Alfred and Bruce Wayne. Catwoman in this film was excellent, She was best Catwoman ever seen on film. Anne Hathaway did an excellent job portraying Catwoman. Nolan's Catwoman fit the catwoman of the comics to a T. The Ending of this film is the Best part of the movie. The Ending made me well up tears in my eyes, I Felt for Bruce Wayne/Batman in that scene. In my mind I Was like no this can't be. I Almost cried watching that scene. In the history that I have been to theaters and watched movies, no movie has ever come close to even making me cry, Much less a comic book film. But this movie Almost Did it. I Refrained from crying after being relieved from the very last scenes of the movie. This movie almost made me cry, And for that I Give a 10 out of 10 Expand

It is the seemingly visually compelling film in contrast to the dark knight. It helps give us the secluded shutdown bruce Wayne who has disappeared after Harvey dents death. This helps give bruce depth, and allows the audience to feel great pity and sorrow for our beloved hero. The new menacing villain, (bane) is a great addition to this film as he is played brilliantly by Tom Hardy, and completely outclasses batman in every way. We get to see batman finally meet his match!, and boy was it worth the wait. The sewer scene and final battle were some of the most epic choreographed fights I've ever seen. Gary old-man returns as Commissioner gordon and plays it fantastically, as we see he is very heart torn in the film as he has lived 8 years, on a lie about dents death and watched people believe Harvey was a great ' white knight '. With all the usual cast returning this film delivers some much needed closure to the epic Trilogy, and some emotionally satisfying scenes. Expand

The acting, plot, direction, score and story telling are all top notch. Now I want to get this out of the way as soon as possible, a lot of people are comparing Bane to the Joker but you cannot do this, simply on the soul fact... they are completely different characters. The Joker was dark, cunning and knew how to manipulate those we all thought couldn't be, however Bane is without a doubt Batman's strongest opponent physically and mentally, he pushes Bruce Wayne/Batman to the brink of destruction throughout the movie, his physical presence in itself is extremely intimidating not to mention his distinctive voice. There are a lot of plot twists also throughout the movie which fit brilliantly within the story telling and the last 40 minutes are one of the greatest in cinematic history. I don't want to say much more because words simply can't describe how brilliant this movie is and in my opinion beats TDK and I never thought I would say that because TDK is a cinematic triumph across the board. All that's left to say now is thank you Mr. Nolan for a truly wonderful trilogy that concluded in epic style Expand

What can I say about this film that has not been stated already by the critics and fans alike? This film wraps up Nolan's story of Batman is a way that is unprecedented. Nolan is an incredible storyteller and conveyor of emotion through the characters on screen that it leaves the viewer in awe.

The performances by Bale, Hardy, Hathaway, Caine, Oldman, and the rest of the cast are breathtaking and each actor gives an incredible performance. You really feel a sense of connection with each character despite their moral predisposition.

There have been some who have panned this film for being too long, for plot holes here and there, as well as many other little inconsistencies. To those who feel this way I say this: Nolan gave his superhero a true sense of humanity throughout this trilogy and reaffirmed that humanity by making the story and experiences relatable to the viewer. We all have our fallacies and assumptions, as well as flaws. Even Batman.

This film goes beyond the superhero genre and even if you are not a die-hard comic book reader or fanboy/fangirl, this is truly a brilliant film that touches on every level

I do think this, as a film, tops The Dark Knight and is a worthy sequel and end to the trilogy. Nolan is always getting better and better.

Plot: it's quite complicated, but will keep you on your toes the whole ride. It's necessary to have watched the previous two films to understand this film's plot and enjoy it. The storyline is solid and the ending of this film is just perfect. My biggest gripe is the development of Miranda Tate, which seemed rather rushed. But this film did not feel like three hours.

Characters: Michael Caine was brilliant as Alfred, as always. The most heartfelt and strongest performance of the film. Christian Bale, Joseph Gordon Levitt, and Gary Oldman also do not disappoint. I absolutely loved John Blake's character and wouldn't change a thing about it. Batman's emotional roller coaster is much stronger in this film. I do feel Marion Cotillard did a great job, but was given a bit too little to work with. Anne Hathaway was not my favorite Catwoman, but still had a good fit for Nolan's tone of the series.

Tom Hardy was put in tough shoes as the successor to the Joker. He still did a great job, and Bane was a great choice of a villain. However, I feel The Joker was a superior villain. The Joker was much more interesting, terrifying, and ultimately memorable.

I was not expecting this film to be better than TDK, but Nolan surprised me once again. I highly recommend watching this movie, but make sure to watch the first two beforehand. The special effects are mind blowing.

Partially because while the films were great I had a few Nitpicks on it. Specifically the way Bale and to an extent Nolan made the portrayal of Batman. Bale had to play multiple roles, there was Bruce Wayne public mode: The Drunken Billionaire Playboy, Bruce Wayne private mode: the sad angry man before he becomes the bat and then The Batman, the near legendary figure that criminals tell scary stories about. Bale was good at both Bruces and body language wise (such as the Joker interrogation.) he was a good Batman, but that voice was so irritating. The fight scenes were barely visible because during the fights someone always blocks the camera, all you could see was the fist being raised and the guy on the receiving end falling over. When rises came around I saw some surprising changes, one Bale's Batman voice became less irritating and more intimidating. When he interrogated Bane he actually sounded ticked off and not just pulling an act to scare him. 2 I could see the fights, more specifically the fights between him and Bane, and they were better than what Begins and Dark Knight did. The free for all in the climax looked almost shot for shot like a modern day version of Enter The Dragon's final fight. The fixed nitpicks aside, Rises is by far the best of the three, sorry Heath you are a great Joker, but Rises was the better movie. Now all we need is a good editor to fit them all together like they did the Godfather Saga Expand

Bane was an awesome villain, who brakes Batman/Bruce Wayne's back in his attempt to destroy Gotham. Bane had an awesome plan to destroy Gotham and also has a pretty cool background. The Batman/Bane fights are really cool!

Take my advice and see "The Dark Knight Rises" as soon as possible, you will love it.

Christopher Nolan had the difficult task to overcome himself after 2008's unforgettable "The Dark Knight". And truth is that he doesn't let anyone down by delivering a final chapter, I dare saying, at the level of it's predecessor.

Set in a tense and anarchic landscape, Gotham City is the stage to a mesmerizing visual showdown, beautifully orchestrated by Hans Zimmer's accurate soundtrack. The plot itself unveils slowly but also precisely leaving no loose ends and where all the pieces keep fitting themselves like in a perfect puzzle.

Concerning the villain for this ultimate Batman disclosure, expectations where high due to Heat Ledger's mythic performance in the previous film. However, Tom Hardy's impersonation is a success, not superior to Ledger but equally special. The British actor is able to embody in perfection the character of a brutal and revolutionary Bane, with a way of expressing himself both scary and addictive, leaving the viewer long for his presence on screen. As for the rest of the luxurious cast, they deliver performances that underline a more human side that the English director has achieved to input throughout the series.

"The Dark Knight Rises" is a masterpiece that confirms the versatility of someone like Christopher Nolan, without a doubt, the most competent, talented and unquestionably remarkable filmmaker of our times. And it is time to give him credit for that

I was very anxious to see this movie! Nolan and his team had a big job to do when it comes to making a third and final sequel to the all ready great movies 'Batman Begins' and 'The Dark Knight'.

From the very start of the movie to the very end, the movie captivates you, I felt immersed in to the story and the characters.

The story was very fitting for the final movie, not very many movies that has sequels has such a great story to end the trilogy.

But Nolan, the writers, Actors and Actresses and everyone else did an amazing job. the special effects was mind blowing.

****Warning Spoilers below****

The way they created the main villain 'Bane' is genius and to have a surprising ending such as having Miranda Tate be 'Talia a Ghul' was great. I stayed away from Spoilers because I wanted to be surprised of the ending, I heard some things about it, but it was just rumors. I was very satisfied by the ending, having Bruce Wayne aka Batman survive by using the auto-pilot and bailing out before the blast and then showing up with Salena Kyle at that place Alfred mention earlier on in the movie.

The movie was excellent. very entertaining. If you haven't seen it then you might want to go, you won't be disappointed

The Dark Knight Rises is the absolute perfection! Made all of its predecessors, in shadows. I love every single bit of it.

With many rumours on the net says, Batman's gonna die, etc, etc, etc, the plot makes you tingle and anticipate what will come next. The film never becomes dull, albeit it runs for almost 3 hours. Actions and sequences are well created and very penetrating.

The gadgets are so cool. Me and my buddy really eyed that Batpod, especially when it's cruising sideways. Just awesome! A note to those who never watched Batman before, well, you guys might be wondering who Harvey Dent, Ra's al Ghul, Crane, and so on. So, it's advisable to watch Batman Begins and The Dark Knight prior to this.

In this film we have Bane, the masked kick-ass villain. Though personally, Joker (Heath Ledger) is still my favourite baddie. Tom Hardy successfully portrayed a near-to-comic Bane: strong, cunning, gruesome, and a skilled-fighter. His accent, fyi, is a Romani gypsy.

Christian Bale continues to be the greatest Batman. Though I miss Michelle Pfeiffer as Catwoman, Anne Hathaway has own aura in making this film's Catwoman to be such a rrrrreeoooww! Joseph Gordon –Levitt as John Blake should be praised too. He's proved again to be a very versatile actor. Not to mention old timers like Michael Caine (Alfred) and Morgan Freeman (Fox).

The plot??? Well, I leave that to you to enjoy it. Verdict: Satisfaction, guaranteed! ;-D

Nolan is more than intelligent and Bale is more than actor. When i first saw Batman begins I felt great about this Batman because previous Batman series are like cartoon characters and gadgets looks like toys and spoiled the serious feel. But Nolan's Batman i felt very satisfied. My favorite superhero at last attained a best shape and hit the screens. Bruce Wayne character also well portrayed. His rich behavior was well shown. Totally the best intro for Batman beginning. And next one was my favorite movie of all time THE DARK KNIGHT masterpiece from Nolan. What a play by Heath ledger as Joker I respect him. I feel sorry for his death we have lost a best actor. This movie rocked the whole world with intelligent screenplay by Nolan. I have watched it so many times and never got bored of it. And my expectation went to peak point for the next batman. Then came THE DARK KNIGHT RISES. Truly many movies did not cope up to the satisfactory level as expected but The dark knight rises stood up to the peak and even went above my expectations. Really a masterpiece conclusion. From the starting till end you can feel Nolans intelligence. And what a way he had concluded is spectacular. Some people says overrated but I think its not. And i have to say about Bale. What an actor he is! I have seen his machinist and astonished. his sincere dedication to his work is remarkable. No actor in the world could do anything like that up to my knowledge. Also he is a handsome hero.A masterpiece grand finale. The best Batman series so far.I forgot to tell about another favorite thing about this movie series. Its the BGM Its awesome every-time i hear it it will make my hair stand up. Best BGM. And finally I would like to thank Nolan for the best Batman series ever in the history. And for fans don't miss the movie Expand

Wow what a masterpiece this is and what an awesome movie experience.

Nolan really goes above and beyond in the final installment of the Dark Knight trilogy. First thing lets talk about is the scale of this movie. The diffenent locations the amount of extras the action the cinematography are all amazing. I read something from another review that I loved. The job of the 3rd movie or a sequel is to make the other movies better and the series as a whole a masterpiece and that is truly the case.

Picking up 8 years after the dark knight, the movie finds Gotham living s crime free world and Bruce Wayne a broken man who hides in his home from everyone. Bringing him out into the world are a few new additions, Selina Kyle and Bane.

That's about all I will say about the main story. The less you know going in about this movie the better. There were a lot of fantastic surprises that truly brings the series full circle and touches the other two films.

The cast: this movie is def Christian Bales best performance as bruce/batman. The usual reoccurring characters are there, the person that steals every scene they are in is Michael Caine as Alfred, wow should get an Oscar for this movie.

New additions Anne Hathaway, Joseph Gordon Levitt and Tom Hardy all are fantastic in this and truly make the movie a better exeperience. Marion Colltaird was good as well.

The story was incredible, ESP how they brought everything full circle and fully tied the series together.

Wally Pfister really has outdone himself with the cinematography it's just a beautiful film.

Nolan's vision for this film and the execution are just phenomenal.

Hans Zimmer returns to score the final installment and doesn't disappoint.

The film is very violent so just know that going into it, while that didn't bother me just know it is not for kids, just like the last one wasn't.

The end sequence, wow really caps off the series as a whole and Nolan really just puts an exclamation mark on Batman. The end sequence is so amazing and was just wow. Not going to say anything else about that.

So was it better then the Dark Knight? Yes, it was. TDKR is the total package and the total film and was just an unbelievable experience. It re-raised the bar that TDK set years ago.

TDKR should be nominated for best picture and should win everything it is nominated for. If Lord of the Rings can win best picture then so can TDKR, this is the best film I have ever seen on every level.

The Nolan Batman Trilogy will and should go down as the best trilogy and movie series ever made. Star wars, Indians jones, godfather, marvel movies, lord of the rings, none of these can compete with this masterpiece of a movie trilogy and experience

Easily the best movie i have ever seen in my life...perfect conclusion to an epic trilogy. Many have been comparing this wonderful movie to its predecessor "The Dark Knight"...but i find it unjustifiable to compare it with the dark knightEasily the best movie i have ever seen in my life...perfect conclusion to an epic trilogy. Many have been comparing this wonderful movie to its predecessor "The Dark Knight"...but i find it unjustifiable to compare it with the dark knight purely for the reason that it is the conclusion to the trilogy and because there is no JOKER(played by the legendary heath ledger ) in this film. That does not in any way take away the scintillating performance given by Tom Hardy ..he has done justice to his role without any doubt...and you cant expect anything more from the character of BANE...Christopher Nolan could not have come up with a better script for the finale of the batman franchise...each and every scene remains etched in the viewers mind and the story is well panned out...It has the necessary twist and turns and most importantly it does justice to the age of Bruce Wayne(Batman) buy showing him older and weaker considering the story happens 8 years after The Dark Knight.....Anne Hathaway as Catwoman can just be described in one word..WOW!!!...she has surpassed expectations with ultimate ease and has taken a giant step forward in her career...frankly I did not expect her to carry off such a big role with consummate ease...her expressions and dialogue delivery is simply impeccable....Micheal Caine has once again showed that he has virtually lived the role of Alfred...Marion Cotillard as Miranda Tate is another surprise package...her insistence in meeting bruce wayne and her interest in the nuclear project of wayne enterprises and its reason is revealed in an totally engrossing and riveting climax...Gary Oldman and Joseph Gordon levitt have bonded vey well in saving the Gotham city along with the Batman.Morgan Freeman is his usual cheerful self when confronting with bruce wayne for the first time after 8 years and in the second half he turns out to be the most helpful and needed source for Batman..

Finally , Christian BALE as THE BATMAN/BRUCE WAYNE...phew!!! really awestruck by this man and his acting...Such a versatile actor he has been over the years and he has proved it again by playing the role of a bruised and battered Batman with elan..I deliberately had to mention him in a separate paragraph just because i thought he deserved it for carrying the role of Batman for 3 films without any fuss and in this film he had to deal with an adversary who was stronger than him .No wonder he was left to contort in pain initially by Bane but he does comeback in a more determined at the same time in an efficient way and continues to be the unrecognized protector of the Gotham City by becoming the killer that the city had already believed him to be...

I would like to conclude saying that it is a must watch for believer of Nolan's movies because it has lots of his magic still ...and last but not not least i would like to finish saying that yes THE DARK KNIGHT RISES was certainly worth the wait and it has exceeded its expectations

This movie is in general, a fantastic movie. It is 2 hours, and 45 minutes long, but somehow Christoffer Nolan manages to make it exciting through the whole movie.

The Acting:

The acting is great, but that is probably because almost all of the actors are amazing actors. Morgan Freeman, Christian Bale, Gary Oldman, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Nestor Carbonell are actors in this fantastic movie, and each one of them makes some brilliant acting. The acting is fantastic.

The Storyline:

I couldn't be more happy with the storyline. How Christopher introduces the story, and ends the batman trilogy is fantastic. I got a little confused in the beginning, but i know that's probably the meaning. the way he ends the movie, and the trilogy, is just amazing, and couln't be done better. The plot, and sub-plots are just amazingly tangled together in a fantastic web. Couldn't be better.

I could go on and tell about the directioning part, the special effects and all that. But it will just be the same over and over again. This is maybe Christopher Nolan's best movie.

Better than The Dark Knight? You know what, I never expected to be saying this but, yes it is. There isn't a performance to top Heath Ledger's Joker, but the film as a whole works perfectly, with everybody involved getting their chance to shine.

I actually cried with joy watching this and that rarely happens. I can't wait to see it again

First of all, Nolan has made the greatest trilogy of all time, and while the film probably won't demand repeat viewings like The Dark Knight, it's narrative structure and beautiful photography by Pfister, make this film the superior one inFirst of all, Nolan has made the greatest trilogy of all time, and while the film probably won't demand repeat viewings like The Dark Knight, it's narrative structure and beautiful photography by Pfister, make this film the superior one in the series.

Where the first movie explored fear, and the second movie chaos and anarchy, this film is based on redemption and pain, because as many people have stated, both Bane and Bruce experience pain throughout the movie.

And this is what makes Bane an interesting villain, because he is the polar opposite to Batman, but the same, as Nichy once said, 'you stare into the abyss long enough, it will stare back at you'. Bane is Batmans abyss, what he could have become if he had joined the League.

Structurally the movie fits in perfectly with the others, and this is what makes this the best trilogy of all. Everyonr is dedicated to Nolans vision, from the cast, to the crew, they believe in what he has done, and this makes it better viewing for the audience.

The cast are fantastic, and the question of the ending? it's perfect, Wayne has paid his due to Gotham, and Gotham to him, after all it took away his parents, and made him unhinged. But this movie finally, shows him at peace, and the last scene confirms that this epic trilogy is over.

It's sad to think this, Nolan resurrected a franchise that went out of control, and then some, and has managed to give the movie a conclusion, that not only respects the source material, but the movie goer too.

A must see, and the best film of the year so far

Christian Bale is excellent, the story is great, Tom Hardy plays Bane unbelievable well, Anne Hathaway gives us a taste of Catwoman, basically lots of greatness. I also like how they left it open at the end which many at the time thought was going to be the start of another series of films that never materialized. The fights between Batman and Bane were the best parts of this film, but the whole thing is a masterpiece. ewatched this today for the first time since its release in theaters in 2012. this concluded my revisiting of the Nolan trilogy, which i hadnt watched in full since i was a teenager. i was thoroughly impressed.

i honestly didnt expect to enjoy the storytelling, acting, script or filmmaking of this as much as i did. i appreciated so much the attention given to the conclusion of Bruce's story as a dynamic, beloved vigilante that has been reborn and reimagined for decades. i joked about this movie when it came out, how silly it was, how stupid Bane sounded, how boring it would be without Heath Ledger, etc. typical opinions for a 14 year old moviegoer to have.

but now, after a long (unintentional) break from these films, i realize the effort, love, hard work, and vision that went into the culmination of this project. the sheer amount of teamwork and visionary prowess, technicality, and LOVE for who Batman is and who Batman can be is what propelled this trilogy forward and what makes these films iconic mainstays of not only superhero movies but film in general.

these films arent perfect and i dont think anyone on this website would argue that. i felt, and still feel, that The Dark Knight, though it is my favorite of the three, was rushed and tried to pack so much script into the first half that it was hard to follow at points. i was 10 when i saw it in theaters at release and was overwhelmed by it, most of the plot flying right over my head. watching it again at 23 i realize that it really did feel rushed, and i cant blame Nolan or the scriptwriters for exhibiting their ambition, going for broke with their mythos (and by extension, the sheer amount of characterization required to make it believable).

surprisingly, The Dark Knight Rises does not suffer from this same feeling of hurriedness, of fitting a huge, ambitious script packed with important philosophizing and world building and empathizing into just a handful of scenes within the first hour of the film. instead it introduces a new villain, familiar to fans of the franchise, but captivating to an audience that was meeting him for the first time. what sticks out to me most about Hardy's performance as Bane is the sheer strength he possessed -- the fact that he could snap Batman in half, like a twig, and we believed it. though i wasn't intimidated by Bane's voice necessarily, and i wish we could have understood him clearer, i think the point was that he was a man to be feared by the audience (and Bruce), and his portrayal succeeded in that respect.

as far as Anne Hathaway's performance as Catwoman, i personally didnt feel that enough relatability was brought to this character, who i dont think we have really seen realized on film. i dont think its easy to find the balance between morality and self preservation that Selina embodies, but i do think a different actress couldve brought some more life to her. in my opinion Anne's Catwoman read as... celebrity. so i just never bought it.

i was so happy to see that the finale to Nolan's trilogy wasnt as bad as i remembered. and im thankful for the ways he and the people who worked on these films committed fully to bringing renewed life to Batman, his world, his journey, his villains + allies, and his legacy. there is good reason we still talk about these films today.

Some people like to pick it apart because of its numerous plot holes. I get that, but you know what other movies have plot holes? Literally every movie ever made. Whatever your favorite film of all-time is or what you critically think is the best film of all-time, I can guarantee you that it has at least one questionable plot line or some other sort of flaw. No movie is ever going to be truly 100% perfect, let alone one as big and complex as The Dark Knight Rises. Considering how grand and complicated this story is, I think it’s amazing that there weren’t ten times as many holes in it. Although I recognize the flaws that the film does have, I think that they are all heavily, heavily outweighed by all of the amazing things. All of the pros that I mentioned in my reviews for the first two movies are once again on full display here. Christian Bale, Gary Oldman, Michael Caine. They’re all fantastic. The Dark Knight Rises obviously doesn’t have Heath Ledger’s Joker, but I think it just about makes up for it with the presence of Tom Hardy’s Bane. Don’t get me wrong, I definitely think that the Joker was the better villain. Bane is still incredible though. If it weren’t for the Joker being a part of the same trilogy, Bane would probably be in the conversation for best comic-book movie villain of all-time. On top of that, you have Anne Hathaway as Catwoman. A lot of people prefer Michelle Pfeiffer’s portrayal of the character, but I mentioned in my review for Batman Returns that I wasn’t quite as high on her. I’d take Anne Hathaway’s Catwoman by a mile. Several miles for that matter. There are also some other cool characters that are revealed throughout. I won’t spoil them at the slim chance that you haven’t seen this film yet. If you’re one of those people, what the hell are you doing with your life?! Go watch this movie! You’ve probably heard it a million times by now, but The Dark Knight Rises is the definition of epic. If this film doesn’t get your heart racing and put you on the edge of your seat, I don’t know what will. I said in my review for Batman Begins that The Dark Knight was my clear favorite of the trilogy, but I wasn’t actually sure how I would rank them beyond that. Upon rewatching both movies, I think that I’d take The Dark Knight Rises over Batman Begins. It’s really hard to compare the two of them though. Batman Begins is more of a straightforward origin story. It’s a damn good one though. The Dark Knight Rises is the exact opposite of a simplistic, by the books origin story. It’s barely even a superhero story. It’s like dramatic war film. It just so happens to have a lot of action and a bunch of Batman characters thrown in the mix too. That’s the big reason why I think I prefer The Dark Knight Rises. There are a lot of other movies like Batman Begins out there. Batman Begins is probably the best of them, but it still follows a somewhat familiar template. The Dark Knight Rises is a once in a lifetime kind of film. There are very few experiences that match the stakes, scope, and ambitions of The Dark Knight Rises. I absolutely love this movie, and it’s one of the best of all-time in my opinion. I’m of course giving The Dark Knight Rises an A+ (5/5). How would you rank the three films in The Dark Knight trilogy? Expand

The Dark Night Rises was an excellent movie. It had plenty of character-driven plots that made the move interesting.
The music was spectacular, especially the scenes with Bane in them.
Batman/Bruce Wayne had to go through a lot of adversity. He was in exile and still injured from the fall in The Dark Knight. Catwoman set him up to get all of his riches taken from him and almost his entire company.
Alfred leaves him.
Gordon went through his own adversity to finally become the commissioner.
Dude that would become Robin had a pretty good part as the Rouge cop.
And Bane. Bane was arguably just as sick wid it of a villain as Joker was in the previous film. The way he terrorized Gotham was intriguing and impressive. His fight scenes were awesome and he was always one step ahead of Batman. The first fight scene is one of my favorites. Especially since the fight scenes were the weakest parts of the whole Trilogy due to the fast cuts and close camera angles.
The comeback that Bruce Wayne had to make brought out a lot of emotion for a comic book movie.
And I liked the Talia twist. The whole time it was alluding to Bane as the child who rose from the Prison in the Pit.
And in conclusion, the movie was filled with a lot of symbolism, which fits with the film's title: Rises

I completely agree. TDKR is not only my favourite Batman movie, it's my favourite movie of all time.
For starters, the plot was really well done, the characters were exceptional, the acting was incredible, and the subtle clues pointing towards the ending are nearly infinite (I've watched it 5 times and still find something each time).
Christopher Nolan is an incredible screenwriter and director, and I consider this to be the peak of his work.
The music is excellent.
Tom Hardy is the perfect Bane. Bale is the best Batman. Catwoman is hot. Talia is also hot.
Talia's character was really well developed, and her story was extremely convincing, since she always told the truth from a certain point of view. The plot twist at the end was so unexpected, and I was really happy to see Ra's Al Ghul's legacy continuing strongly (since usually supervillain legacies are terrible).
Oh, and did I mention Robin Blake is the perfect candidate to take on Batman's legacy?
Most importantly, it ends the trilogy so well, tying all 3 movies together, and the ending of the movie never fails to put a smile on my face

Christopher Nolan is a true treasure and I will love this man forever, he is an extraordinary filmmaker and his films are always so well made, he treats every movie as if it was his own child. This man is a true genius. Then, this was just the perfect way too end the trilogy, it was just awesome. Tom Hardy had some big shoes to fill, as the bad guy to the sequel of Heath Ledgers performance, and he held his own. Hardy played this role so amazingly, what he did with his voice and body and the timing in the way he spoke of just the pitch of his voice, was perfect. Easily one of Hardy’s best. Then, all the storylines were fabulous, sometimes films give you to many storylines where it gets confusing or is just overwhelming but they did it extremely well in this one and they used the other films to help boost other storylines from those movies. The writing was great, like in every Nolan film, all the new characters were likeable and great and also respected the comics. Just like the last movie, Gary Oldman, Michael Caine, and Morgan Freeman were all stupendous in there supporting roles, along with the addition of Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marion Cotillard, and Anne Hathaway being amazing aswell. Christian Bale is still the best Batman and we will have to see if anyone ever takes him down from that mantle. The score is SO **** good in this and it sends shivers down my back everytime, the whole trilogy has a great score but this is where I felt it the most. Also, the character depth throughout this trilogy is like no other and it is the same for characters that were only in one of the movies. This whole trilogy is really a work of art and they all make one another better. I honestly don’t think anyone could tackle a Batman trilogy again and make it this good, but, I sure hope they try. Definitely my favourite film in the trilogy and possibly my favourite superhero film of all time. This movie shows aspects from both 'Batman Begins' and 'The Dark Kight' which brings it all together very nicely.

I'd first like to mention that the cinematography and CGI in this are incredible and feel much more realistic than I expected them to be. I especially liked the scene at the football field and how it was shot. Christopher Nolan may not be the best in some categories (anything to do with sound) but he sure is good at camerawork and making his movies look good.

Another thing that made me enjoy this film more than the others is the characters. Both Catwoman and Bane are so badass and some of my favorite superheroes/villains after watching this. I say this because with Bane especially we are given somewhat of a backstory, which we are not given with Joker and Scarecrow in the two previous films. I enjoy this aspect because I feel like I can understand him more and acknowledge why he is doing what he is, which I can't do with the two previous villains.

But by far my favorite factor of this movie is the ending. Throughout the movie, we really don't know who to root for, Batman is ignorant, but so are Gordan and Catwoman at some points. That is until the end where we realize that Batman is the hero everyone loves him for. I also feel like this ending is much more structured than the other ones in that the suspense lasts the majority of the movie rather than the last twenty minutes. We are also hit with a plot twist at the end that I personally did not expect at all which caused me to feel for the villains and understand the whole story much more.

Overall I have not much else to say other than I had a really fun time with this movie and well it does have its flaws it was still a great watch. 9.5/10.

You must watch this movie with that into mind and not only thinking about another super-hero movie. This is the perfect end to the best Batman movies out there. It completes one of the greatest trilogies in cinema's history. Christopher Nolan has proven to be one of the greatest film directors by giving Batman a new life with this trilogy. I have experienced watching this movie with D-Box on opening night and I still remember this movie brought me the very best experience I have ever had in a theatre. I even went back to watch this film a second time on an Imax screen. Every action scenes are breathtaking and spectacular. Micheal Caine's performance is brilliant and Christian Bale as usual embodies both Batman and Bruce Wayne perfectly. I truly enjoyed all three Batman films but the Dark Knight Rises is my favorite for multiple reasons. As a peace officer myself, I found the climatic scene at the end very special where the police forces are freed after spending weeks underground and go all toghether fighting to reestablish order. They seem weak but still motivated knowing they'll be fighting for their lives. But at the very moment they see the symbol, which points to Batman's intervention, the police forces get energized and willing to fight more than ever for what is right. Another poignant scene is when Bane completely breaks Batman in half leaving him crippled. It was something no other vilain had ever done. No one ever stood with Batman in a fist fight. To watch Batman lose and have his cowl broken was something special and emotional. It lead us to see Bruce Wayne gradually recover from an impossible injury and face his fears like never before. Just thinking about the last jump he had to do without being attached gives me goosebumps. It was a do or die moment. The relationship with Catwoman is also very interesting to watch. I loved when they escaped toghether with Batman's flying vehicle. Anne Hathaway filled Catwoman's outfit more than fine. The arrival of the new policeman John Blake was a nice introduction to the Robin character. The twist at the end with Miranda Tate and the surprise at the very end made this film even more perfect for me. It is almost flawless. I give it a well deserved 5 stars! Expand

The music especially hits different during certain scenes, and it’s perfect in the it is the completion of the perfect circle. Many people feel that Christopher Nolan got this wrong, and that Bruce Wayne should have been busy living his life and that he should have been forced to come back, but for me Nolan executed his version perfectly, he made the trilogy a perfect circle. The first film was about Bruce Wayne becoming Batman, the second was about Batman trying to become Bruce Wayne and ultimately becoming something more, and then the final film was about Batman finally becoming Bruce Wayne. This for me was perfect, and the ending was just amazing, the perfect ending for me. Some people also have a problem with the female characters, mostly because they feel we didn’t get to know them well enough, such as Miranda Tate coming out of the blue as a character everyone seemed to know. And I agree, there were some minor flaws, but really, could you not just get on and enjoy the movie for what it was? A spectacular, action-packed love letter to Batman and Bruce Wayne, which completed the ultimate movie trilogy. Also, what idiots didn’t enjoy Tom Hardy’s performance? Absolutely phenomenal performance, almost as good as Heath’s (but not quite, which I feel was perhaps what annoyed people about this movie, the fact that it wasn’t so much about being as good as The Dark Knight, but that it was about completing the trilogy and that it was about the Bruce Wayne and Batman relationship again. The conclusion to the trilogy sits as both the highest-grossing Nolan film and the most successful Batman movie by a healthy margin. Nolan also nailed the trilogy’s ending by crafting a story that truly embodies the phrase “modern epic.” With its lengthy runtime, large cast of characters, and sprawling narrative, The Dark Knight Rises is reminiscent of the biblical dramas and historic epics that populated Hollywood in the 1940’s and 1950’s while exploring issues that face our society such as mass incarceration and class disparity Expand

Instead of seeking ways to expand and continue the story, Nolan sought resolution as the best choice for Bruce's narrative arc, making perhaps the first time a conscious decision was made to end a blockbuster franchise instead of finding ways to let it continue. Sure, other franchise trilogies exist, but have any been so definitive in their attempt to create closure and bring the main character's arc full circle and end the story? Nope, and that adds a special element to The Dark Knight Rises that no other films on this list can touch. Inspired not only by some of the most famous and sprawling story arcs from the comics, but also by classic literature (namely, A Tale of Two Cities) and with some amazingly prescient consciousness of rising economic unrest and division (the story was written before the Occupy Movement began, for example, despite many people's mistaken impression that Nolan was referencing it in the film), this is a story that takes the best elements of Batman Begins and The Dark Knight and combines them into a single bigger picture. After the incredible success of The Dark Knight, everyone doubted Nolan's sequel could hope to match the previous movie's staggering quality, acclaim, and financial success. It was, quite bluntly, deemed nearly impossible to reach such heights again without Heath Ledger's Joker. That this film has in fact been such a rousing success in every way -- quality, acclaim, and at the box office -- is just one more reason it rises to take first place on the list, as the greatest comic book superhero movie of all time Expand

Never, a film based on comic book characters had reached such heights. Nolan ends his Dark Knight trilogy with the biggest bang possible, delivering the most high-octane, violent, gritty, thoughtful, current and epic of the three

The Dark Knight Rises -- The best superhero sequel ever made, and no doubt the entry on this list that will prove most controversial. It combined the great acting and dramatic storytelling of The Dark Knight with a larger epic scope and personal themes for Bruce. The traditional superhero narrative was turned upside-down with a hero who no longer wishes to live, who suffers utter defeat because of his personal shortcomings, and who has lost his status as a heroic figure not just in the eyes of the world but in the eyes of even his loved ones, himself, and the audience.

Most of all, this is a film that brings a definitive end to a superhero franchise, it wraps up the character's life as a superhero, and it lets him move on to start a new life for himself. It creates a true legend for Batman, with a beginning, middle, and end that summarizes everything great about the character, and which faces certain inevitable and necessary truths in his journey to become the eternal symbol he set out to create at the start. No other superhero film has accomplished this, although Iron Man 3 admittedly comes close and addresses some of the same broader themes -- but in that movie, we can be sure Iron Man will return to his armor, and it isn't a true ending to that incarnation and world. I'll refer you to my review of The Dark Knight Rises here, and my explanation of its place at the top of my all-time best superhero list here, for even more detailed discussions of the film's merits.

At the time, everyone wondered if the movie could possibly hope to match the enormous box office success of its predecessor, and after the opening weekend came in lower than expected, many people doubted it would even reach $1 billion. Those doubts were unfounded, though, as it actually passed The Dark Knight's box office tally, making Batman to date the only superhero franchise with more than one film grossing $1+ billion and one of only three franchises with more than one film in the "billion dollar club" (if we count The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit films as part of the same franchise).

This was perfect in every way. Watching this with the curtains closed, my earphones plugged into my xbox controller and having it in HD was an experience to remember. Bane's voice and presence still gives me the shivers, and that iconic 'back break' is truly iconic. Some of the best choreography and cinematography I have ever seen, and the script was well performed by Bale, Hardy and all of the well-chosen cast members

This movie shows that despite failure, despite your fears, despite your enemies, you can be a hero. You can use all three of those things to your advantage and become something better than you were before you encountered them. It masterfully shows and tells that ANYONE can be a hero. Not a single thing negative can be said about this movie, and I absolutely loved every single minute of it. The Dark Knight Rises is without a doubt…. a Amazing and Powerful Batman movie of all time. The epitome of what a superhero film should look like. Completely tramples and **** all over marvel. The writing, cinematography and acting is just class. The soundtrack, the way it seamlessly moves between IMAX and 16:9 depending on the mood and requirements of the scene is just too good. A gripping film right until the end. Will rewatch again and again Expand
