The war-torn streets of Gotham City, the mass chaos and destruction. This is an extremely intense film that has you on the edge of your seat and never lets you rest. I would even argue Avengers Endgame has nothing on the scale of this film. This film is shot beautifully, and the music is once again incredible. I know I've said these things for the previous two movies, but it's true for all of them. These three films are immaculate and they make up the greatest trilogy ever made. Batman Begins is the perfect origin, The Dark Knight is the perfect film, and The Dark Knight Rises is the perfect finale. It is emotional, intense, and incredible throughout. I've had a blast rewatching these movies and they are one of the reasons why I love movies so much. Thank you, Christopher Nolan. Expand

Ambitious movie with excellent acting and production quality. But ultimately the messy and somewhat nonsensical script holds it back from being a universally good film.

This film had a lot to live up to coming off of The Dark Knight but it does just that. After almost a decade now has passed I can say this is my favorite of the three films, barely inching out The Dark Knight. Christian Bale is excellent, the story is great, Tom Hardy plays Bane unbelievable well, Anne Hathaway gives us a taste of Catwoman, basically lots of greatness. I also like how they left it open at the end which many at the time thought was going to be the start of another series of films that never materialized. I’ve seen this quite a few times and it’s still just as good as the first go around. Favorite Batman film, but not by much Expand

The story is fantastic, the twist was great, and the villains were phenomenal.

I think I like Bane a lot more without his super strength. He seems a lot more believable. Tom Hardy does a spectacular job as Bane.

The fights between Batman and Bane were the best parts of this film, but the whole thing is a masterpiece. I don’t think I mentioned this in my earlier reviews, but, the way these Batman movies feel more realistic is the reason I love them so much. Everything is believable. Overall, The Dark Knight Rises is a masterpiece of an end to a masterpiece of a trilogy

ewatched this today for the first time since its release in theaters in 2012. this concluded my revisiting of the Nolan trilogy, which i hadnt watched in full since i was a teenager. i was thoroughly impressed.

i honestly didnt expect to enjoy the storytelling, acting, script or filmmaking of this as much as i did. i appreciated so much the attention given to the conclusion of Bruce's story as a dynamic, beloved vigilante that has been reborn and reimagined for decades. i joked about this movie when it came out, how silly it was, how stupid Bane sounded, how boring it would be without Heath Ledger, etc. typical opinions for a 14 year old moviegoer to have.

but now, after a long (unintentional) break from these films, i realize the effort, love, hard work, and vision that went into the culmination of this project. the sheer amount of teamwork and visionary prowess, technicality, and LOVE for who Batman is and who Batman can be is what propelled this trilogy forward and what makes these films iconic mainstays of not only superhero movies but film in general.

these films arent perfect and i dont think anyone on this website would argue that. i felt, and still feel, that The Dark Knight, though it is my favorite of the three, was rushed and tried to pack so much script into the first half that it was hard to follow at points. i was 10 when i saw it in theaters at release and was overwhelmed by it, most of the plot flying right over my head. watching it again at 23 i realize that it really did feel rushed, and i cant blame Nolan or the scriptwriters for exhibiting their ambition, going for broke with their mythos (and by extension, the sheer amount of characterization required to make it believable).

surprisingly, The Dark Knight Rises does not suffer from this same feeling of hurriedness, of fitting a huge, ambitious script packed with important philosophizing and world building and empathizing into just a handful of scenes within the first hour of the film. instead it introduces a new villain, familiar to fans of the franchise, but captivating to an audience that was meeting him for the first time. what sticks out to me most about Hardy's performance as Bane is the sheer strength he possessed -- the fact that he could snap Batman in half, like a twig, and we believed it. though i wasn't intimidated by Bane's voice necessarily, and i wish we could have understood him clearer, i think the point was that he was a man to be feared by the audience (and Bruce), and his portrayal succeeded in that respect.

as far as Anne Hathaway's performance as Catwoman, i personally didnt feel that enough relatability was brought to this character, who i dont think we have really seen realized on film. i dont think its easy to find the balance between morality and self preservation that Selina embodies, but i do think a different actress couldve brought some more life to her. in my opinion Anne's Catwoman read as... celebrity. so i just never bought it.

i was so happy to see that the finale to Nolan's trilogy wasnt as bad as i remembered. and im thankful for the ways he and the people who worked on these films committed fully to bringing renewed life to Batman, his world, his journey, his villains + allies, and his legacy. there is good reason we still talk about these films today.

Arguably better than the "The Dark Knight". Christian's Bale accent was a bit weird at times and the charge scene was sick. Plus some of it was filmed in Pittsburgh so that's obviously a big plus.

Some people like to pick it apart because of its numerous plot holes. I get that, but you know what other movies have plot holes? Literally every movie ever made. Whatever your favorite film of all-time is or what you critically think is the best film of all-time, I can guarantee you that it has at least one questionable plot line or some other sort of flaw. No movie is ever going to be truly 100% perfect, let alone one as big and complex as The Dark Knight Rises. Considering how grand and complicated this story is, I think it’s amazing that there weren’t ten times as many holes in it. Although I recognize the flaws that the film does have, I think that they are all heavily, heavily outweighed by all of the amazing things. All of the pros that I mentioned in my reviews for the first two movies are once again on full display here. Christian Bale, Gary Oldman, Michael Caine. They’re all fantastic. The Dark Knight Rises obviously doesn’t have Heath Ledger’s Joker, but I think it just about makes up for it with the presence of Tom Hardy’s Bane. Don’t get me wrong, I definitely think that the Joker was the better villain. Bane is still incredible though. If it weren’t for the Joker being a part of the same trilogy, Bane would probably be in the conversation for best comic-book movie villain of all-time. On top of that, you have Anne Hathaway as Catwoman. A lot of people prefer Michelle Pfeiffer’s portrayal of the character, but I mentioned in my review for Batman Returns that I wasn’t quite as high on her. I’d take Anne Hathaway’s Catwoman by a mile. Several miles for that matter. There are also some other cool characters that are revealed throughout. I won’t spoil them at the slim chance that you haven’t seen this film yet. If you’re one of those people, what the hell are you doing with your life?! Go watch this movie! You’ve probably heard it a million times by now, but The Dark Knight Rises is the definition of epic. If this film doesn’t get your heart racing and put you on the edge of your seat, I don’t know what will. I said in my review for Batman Begins that The Dark Knight was my clear favorite of the trilogy, but I wasn’t actually sure how I would rank them beyond that. Upon rewatching both movies, I think that I’d take The Dark Knight Rises over Batman Begins. It’s really hard to compare the two of them though. Batman Begins is more of a straightforward origin story. It’s a damn good one though. The Dark Knight Rises is the exact opposite of a simplistic, by the books origin story. It’s barely even a superhero story. It’s like dramatic war film. It just so happens to have a lot of action and a bunch of Batman characters thrown in the mix too. That’s the big reason why I think I prefer The Dark Knight Rises. There are a lot of other movies like Batman Begins out there. Batman Begins is probably the best of them, but it still follows a somewhat familiar template. The Dark Knight Rises is a once in a lifetime kind of film. There are very few experiences that match the stakes, scope, and ambitions of The Dark Knight Rises. I absolutely love this movie, and it’s one of the best of all-time in my opinion. I’m of course giving The Dark Knight Rises an A+ (5/5). How would you rank the three films in The Dark Knight trilogy? Expand

The Dark Night Rises was an excellent movie. It had plenty of character-driven plots that made the move interesting.
The music was spectacular, especially the scenes with Bane in them.
Batman/Bruce Wayne had to go through a lot of adversity. He was in exile and still injured from the fall in The Dark Knight. Catwoman set him up to get all of his riches taken from him and almost his entire company.
Alfred leaves him.
Gordon went through his own adversity to finally become the commissioner.
Dude that would become Robin had a pretty good part as the Rouge cop.
And Bane. Bane was arguably just as sick wid it of a villain as Joker was in the previous film. The way he terrorized Gotham was intriguing and impressive. His fight scenes were awesome and he was always one step ahead of Batman. The first fight scene is one of my favorites. Especially since the fight scenes were the weakest parts of the whole Trilogy due to the fast cuts and close camera angles.
The comeback that Bruce Wayne had to make brought out a lot of emotion for a comic book movie.
And I liked the Talia twist. The whole time it was alluding to Bane as the child who rose from the Prison in the Pit.
And in conclusion, the movie was filled with a lot of symbolism, which fits with the film's title: Rises

I completely agree. TDKR is not only my favourite Batman movie, it's my favourite movie of all time.
For starters, the plot was really well done, the characters were exceptional, the acting was incredible, and the subtle clues pointing towards the ending are nearly infinite (I've watched it 5 times and still find something each time).
Christopher Nolan is an incredible screenwriter and director, and I consider this to be the peak of his work.
The music is excellent.
Tom Hardy is the perfect Bane. Bale is the best Batman. Catwoman is hot. Talia is also hot.
Talia's character was really well developed, and her story was extremely convincing, since she always told the truth from a certain point of view. The plot twist at the end was so unexpected, and I was really happy to see Ra's Al Ghul's legacy continuing strongly (since usually supervillain legacies are terrible).
Oh, and did I mention Robin Blake is the perfect candidate to take on Batman's legacy?
Most importantly, it ends the trilogy so well, tying all 3 movies together, and the ending of the movie never fails to put a smile on my face

This manI LOVE THIS DAMN TRILOGY SO DAMN MUCH! Christopher Nolan is a true treasure and I will love this man forever, he is an extraordinary filmmaker and his films are always so well made, he treats every movie as if it was his own child. This man is a true genius. Then, this was just the perfect way too end the trilogy, it was just awesome. Tom Hardy had some big shoes to fill, as the bad guy to the sequel of Heath Ledgers performance, and he held his own. Hardy played this role so amazingly, what he did with his voice and body and the timing in the way he spoke of just the pitch of his voice, was perfect. Easily one of Hardy’s best. Then, all the storylines were fabulous, sometimes films give you to many storylines where it gets confusing or is just overwhelming but they did it extremely well in this one and they used the other films to help boost other storylines from those movies. The writing was great, like in every Nolan film, all the new characters were likeable and great and also respected the comics. Just like the last movie, Gary Oldman, Michael Caine, and Morgan Freeman were all stupendous in there supporting roles, along with the addition of Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Marion Cotillard, and Anne Hathaway being amazing aswell. Christian Bale is still the best Batman and we will have to see if anyone ever takes him down from that mantle. The score is SO **** good in this and it sends shivers down my back everytime, the whole trilogy has a great score but this is where I felt it the most. Also, the character depth throughout this trilogy is like no other and it is the same for characters that were only in one of the movies. This whole trilogy is really a work of art and they all make one another better. I honestly don’t think anyone could tackle a Batman trilogy again and make it this good, but, I sure hope they try. Definitely my favourite film in the trilogy and possibly my favourite superhero film of all time. This movie shows aspects from both 'Batman Begins' and 'The Dark Kight' which brings it all together very nicely.

I'd first like to mention that the cinematography and CGI in this are incredible and feel much more realistic than I expected them to be. I especially liked the scene at the football field and how it was shot. Christopher Nolan may not be the best in some categories (anything to do with sound) but he sure is good at camerawork and making his movies look good.

Another thing that made me enjoy this film more than the others is the characters. Both Catwoman and Bane are so badass and some of my favorite superheroes/villains after watching this. I say this because with Bane especially we are given somewhat of a backstory, which we are not given with Joker and Scarecrow in the two previous films. I enjoy this aspect because I feel like I can understand him more and acknowledge why he is doing what he is, which I can't do with the two previous villains.

But by far my favorite factor of this movie is the ending. Throughout the movie, we really don't know who to root for, Batman is ignorant, but so are Gordan and Catwoman at some points. That is until the end where we realize that Batman is the hero everyone loves him for. I also feel like this ending is much more structured than the other ones in that the suspense lasts the majority of the movie rather than the last twenty minutes. We are also hit with a plot twist at the end that I personally did not expect at all which caused me to feel for the villains and understand the whole story much more.

Overall I have not much else to say other than I had a really fun time with this movie and well it does have its flaws it was still a great watch. 9.5/10.

You must watch this movie with that into mind and not only thinking about another super-hero movie. This is the perfect end to the best Batman movies out there. It completes one of the greatest trilogies in cinema's history. Christopher Nolan has proven to be one of the greatest film directors by giving Batman a new life with this trilogy. I have experienced watching this movie with D-Box on opening night and I still remember this movie brought me the very best experience I have ever had in a theatre. I even went back to watch this film a second time on an Imax screen. Every action scenes are breathtaking and spectacular. Micheal Caine's performance is brilliant and Christian Bale as usual embodies both Batman and Bruce Wayne perfectly. I truly enjoyed all three Batman films but the Dark Knight Rises is my favorite for multiple reasons. As a peace officer myself, I found the climatic scene at the end very special where the police forces are freed after spending weeks underground and go all toghether fighting to reestablish order. They seem weak but still motivated knowing they'll be fighting for their lives. But at the very moment they see the symbol, which points to Batman's intervention, the police forces get energized and willing to fight more than ever for what is right. Another poignant scene is when Bane completely breaks Batman in half leaving him crippled. It was something no other vilain had ever done. No one ever stood with Batman in a fist fight. To watch Batman lose and have his cowl broken was something special and emotional. It lead us to see Bruce Wayne gradually recover from an impossible injury and face his fears like never before. Just thinking about the last jump he had to do without being attached gives me goosebumps. It was a do or die moment. The relationship with Catwoman is also very interesting to watch. I loved when they escaped toghether with Batman's flying vehicle. Anne Hathaway filled Catwoman's outfit more than fine. The arrival of the new policeman John Blake was a nice introduction to the Robin character. The twist at the end with Miranda Tate and the surprise at the very end made this film even more perfect for me. It is almost flawless. I give it a well deserved 5 stars! Expand

The music especially hits different during certain scenes, and it’s perfect in the it is the completion of the perfect circle. Many people feel that Christopher Nolan got this wrong, and that Bruce Wayne should have been busy living his life and that he should have been forced to come back, but for me Nolan executed his version perfectly, he made the trilogy a perfect circle. The first film was about Bruce Wayne becoming Batman, the second was about Batman trying to become Bruce Wayne and ultimately becoming something more, and then the final film was about Batman finally becoming Bruce Wayne. This for me was perfect, and the ending was just amazing, the perfect ending for me. Some people also have a problem with the female characters, mostly because they feel we didn’t get to know them well enough, such as Miranda Tate coming out of the blue as a character everyone seemed to know. And I agree, there were some minor flaws, but really, could you not just get on and enjoy the movie for what it was? A spectacular, action-packed love letter to Batman and Bruce Wayne, which completed the ultimate movie trilogy. Also, what idiots didn’t enjoy Tom Hardy’s performance? Absolutely phenomenal performance, almost as good as Heath’s (but not quite, which I feel was perhaps what annoyed people about this movie, the fact that it wasn’t so much about being as good as The Dark Knight, but that it was about completing the trilogy and that it was about the Bruce Wayne and Batman relationship again. I was a little skeptical about Anne Hathaway as Catwoman, but she proved to be the right choice. This film probably had the most action scenes than any other Batman film, and I liked that the storyline made the audience really pay attention. The conclusion to the trilogy sits as both the highest-grossing Nolan film and the most successful Batman movie by a healthy margin. Nolan also nailed the trilogy’s ending by crafting a story that truly embodies the phrase “modern epic.” With its lengthy runtime, large cast of characters, and sprawling narrative, The Dark Knight Rises is reminiscent of the biblical dramas and historic epics that populated Hollywood in the 1940’s and 1950’s while exploring issues that face our society such as mass incarceration and class disparity Expand

Instead of seeking ways to expand and continue the story, Nolan sought resolution as the best choice for Bruce's narrative arc, making perhaps the first time a conscious decision was made to end a blockbuster franchise instead of finding ways to let it continue. Sure, other franchise trilogies exist, but have any been so definitive in their attempt to create closure and bring the main character's arc full circle and end the story? Nope, and that adds a special element to The Dark Knight Rises that no other films on this list can touch. Inspired not only by some of the most famous and sprawling story arcs from the comics, but also by classic literature (namely, A Tale of Two Cities) and with some amazingly prescient consciousness of rising economic unrest and division (the story was written before the Occupy Movement began, for example, despite many people's mistaken impression that Nolan was referencing it in the film), this is a story that takes the best elements of Batman Begins and The Dark Knight and combines them into a single bigger picture. After the incredible success of The Dark Knight, everyone doubted Nolan's sequel could hope to match the previous movie's staggering quality, acclaim, and financial success. It was, quite bluntly, deemed nearly impossible to reach such heights again without Heath Ledger's Joker. That this film has in fact been such a rousing success in every way -- quality, acclaim, and at the box office -- is just one more reason it rises to take first place on the list, as the greatest comic book superhero movie of all time Expand

The Dark Knight Rises -- The best superhero sequel ever made, and no doubt the entry on this list that will prove most controversial. It combined the great acting and dramatic storytelling of The Dark Knight with a larger epic scope and personal themes for Bruce. The traditional superhero narrative was turned upside-down with a hero who no longer wishes to live, who suffers utter defeat because of his personal shortcomings, and who has lost his status as a heroic figure not just in the eyes of the world but in the eyes of even his loved ones, himself, and the audience.

Most of all, this is a film that brings a definitive end to a superhero franchise, it wraps up the character's life as a superhero, and it lets him move on to start a new life for himself. It creates a true legend for Batman, with a beginning, middle, and end that summarizes everything great about the character, and which faces certain inevitable and necessary truths in his journey to become the eternal symbol he set out to create at the start. No other superhero film has accomplished this, although Iron Man 3 admittedly comes close and addresses some of the same broader themes -- but in that movie, we can be sure Iron Man will return to his armor, and it isn't a true ending to that incarnation and world. I'll refer you to my review of The Dark Knight Rises here, and my explanation of its place at the top of my all-time best superhero list here, for even more detailed discussions of the film's merits.

At the time, everyone wondered if the movie could possibly hope to match the enormous box office success of its predecessor, and after the opening weekend came in lower than expected, many people doubted it would even reach $1 billion. Those doubts were unfounded, though, as it actually passed The Dark Knight's box office tally, making Batman to date the only superhero franchise with more than one film grossing $1+ billion and one of only three franchises with more than one film in the "billion dollar club" (if we count The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit films as part of the same franchise).

“THE DARK KNIGHT RISES” is an excellent third film in the Nolan Batman Trilogy. Along with the Back to the Future trilogy, this is the only trilogy for me with all 3 films being a 10/10. For the Modern Medievalist, it's not just the bone-crunching, death-dealing carnage Bane channels into every punch that makes him the icon of terror; for in the real world, a well-placed bullet stops a strong man just as quickly as a weak one. It's not even the possibility of Bane destroying civilization; the Joker sought to sow chaos and total anarchy throughout Gotham's streets, but for all his cleverness, I doubt Nolan's take on the clown prince of crime could sustain a perpetual cycle of madness over an entire city. The institutions of man (if not the police, then federal or military intervention) would eventually take someone like the Joker down with or without the Batman's help. Expand

Bringing Bane to the silver screen, Christopher Nolan pulled out another amazing film to add to his collection. Making Batman vulnerable and providing a nemesis who was physically superior to him was an interesting twist to the story, and it really allowed for another classic to be made. With an IMDb rating of 8.4, it stands up as one of the best sequels of the decade

The Dark Knight Rises (2012) certainly did not disappoint on that front. The third and final film begins with an older version of our hero, who has essentially been in hiding as both Batman and Bruce Wayne for eight years. Nolan sets up what will be Batman’s toughest challenge yet, and brings him out of retirement to fight Bane, a masked villain trained by the League of Shadows. The ending is fantastically foreshadowed through Alfred when he protests Batman’s return. He reveals his hope for the final chapter of their journey together ending with an exchange of glances as Wayne sits at an outdoor cafe with a girl in Europe on a sunny day, rather than with Alfred burying him in the ground. After surviving Bane breaking his back, escaping a nearly inescapable prison in a far off land, and almost defeating Bane, the big twist of the movie knocks Batman right off his horse again. Miranda Tate, his love interest, reveals herself as Talia Al Ghul, and is actually the mastermind behind the plan to avenge her father Ra’s Al Ghul, and finish what he started. With the help of Jim Gordon, John Blake, and Catwoman, Batman does ultimately prevail, however, his death is teased with the use of a frequently referenced story-line relating to his Bat plane and it’s auto-pilot feature, or lack thereof. We then find out that Bruce Wayne himself fixed the feature, and of course, the trilogy ends with Alfred’s vision coming true, as he exchanges a glance with Wayne sitting at an outdoor cafe across from Selina Kyle (Catwoman). The full circle of Ra’s Al Ghul’s story-line, the amazing twist, and another memorable villain performance by Tom Hardy culminates the trilogy in spectacular fashion. As highly regarded as its predecessors, The Dark Knight Rises is ranked 71st on the IMDB top 250 list. Expand

Once again, Nolan produced an absolute masterpiece to conclude his legendary, game-changing trilogy.

Dark Knight Rises. As a movie, it's flawless. It has all core movie points. Action, suspense, broken hero, character development, an unseen twist, the works. Dark Knight is brilliant, no doubt but as a Batman movie, the third one is the best

The Dark Knight Rises had a mind-boggling storyline, with several intriguing subplots and twists and turns at every step. Once again, there were a whole host of dialogues that have eventually become part of everyday life. Bane was yet another amazing villain, literally Nolan really knows how to direct a villain with Hardy brilliantly carrying on.

This movie is great from Bane to Batman to the final battle, the first scene with bane in the helicopter is great and with the cops kind of taking lead and going after Bane with Blake being really good and Catwoman was handled really good and the epic scale was great and the ending was perfect

Great art of Tom Hardy as Bane in The Dark Knight Rises is one of my all-time favorite villain performances. He was loyal to the comics but different at the same time. The elements that Nolan and Hardy blended together produced a great character ♥️

There is no understating the impact these films had on cinema, most notably 2008’s The Dark Knight. With The Dark Knight Rises, we have a fitting end to one of the strongest trilogies in cinema history. There is so much to appreciate in this film. The menacing tone that lies beneath the surface of Gotham City is felt for all of its 165 minutes. For my money, the plot of The Dark Knight Rises is the best of the three. I think, taken as a whole, what Christopher Nolan can be most proud of is that he has captured the attention of a massive audience and taught them that escapist entertainment can be thoughtful and precise. He may present some of this grandiose and complex content in a simplified and somewhat self-important/preachy way, but he achieves his grand design of getting us all thinking about our own morality, our limits, and our duties. This is miles beyond what any other so-called “comic book” movie has achieved or has even been capable of so far (PS, this will not be the last we hear of Christopher Nolan on this Expand

Luckily, this was not the case with Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight Rises. This third installment of the series is in my opinion not only the best movie from the three but possibly one of the best super-hero movies ever made. It’s actually kind of dubious to put this trilogy in the super-hero category as what Christopher Nolan does with Batman is something extraordinary and of unique vision, transforming the cartoonish hero into something more complex, dark, serious and with extremely relevant content when it comes to social and political problems. A lot of people prefer The Dark Knight for the amazing performance by Heath Ledger and the tragedy surrounding his story, but we mustn’t forget the conclusion of this such important film trilogy and what it means to Nolan’s career Expand

With The Dark Knight’s ridiculously high bar, the death of the late great Heath Ledger and reputations of third chapters, you could say the odds were against this.

But thanks to the genius that is Christopher Nolan, this film is fantastic. It may not be as good as The Dark Knight, which is fine as it’s still an epic conclusion to the trilogy. Also this is arguably the best third chapter of any film trilogy.

Christopher Nolan made the decision not to make any reference to the Joker, out of respect to Heath Ledger and keep his performance contained in The Dark Knight. His actions in that film had still left major consequences that this film deals with, so his impact is still there without being directly mentioned.

One of the main themes is Pain - both physically and mentally. The events of The Dark Knight left Bruce with permanent injuries and trauma, which have taken a toll on him the past 8 years. He needs to overcome to become Batman again to take down his biggest threat, and if he can, move on or die miserably.

In addition to the Tumbler and the Batpod, we have the Batwing, which is like a Tumbler that is also a helicopter. Catwoman’s costume consists of safe-cracking goggles that resemble cat ears when flipped up, and her whip has been replaced with a serrated spiked high heel boots. Bane’s Mexican wrestler mask and tubes injecting Venom into him have been replaced with a mask that pumps a pain-reducing drug into his mouth.

While Bane is not as memorable or compelling of a villain as the Joker, he is a massive threat to Batman. The Joker tested Batman on his morals, while Bane challenges Batman physically, as he has a lot of strength and Bruce is out of shape, having not been Batman for 8 years.

Christian Bale delivers his best performance as our broken hero struggling to crawl his way back to be tougher than ever. More sympathetic than ever, he starts off reclusive and struggling to overcome post-traumatic stress. Then following him on an incredibly difficult journey to not only get back into shape but also find the will to live.

Michael Caine is also top notch as Alfred and has a particular scene that will bring the audience to tears. Bale and Caine’s chemistry is more touching than ever, putting the father/son dynamic to the ultimate test. Gary Oldman and Morgan Freeman once again bring their A-game as James Gordon and Lucius Fox and they are fantastic.

Tom Hardy is almost completely unrecognisable as Bane and he is incredibly menacing. Considering he has most of his face covered, he is required to do a lot of acting with his eyes and body language, which he pulls off really well. His dialogue may require a little getting used to but it suits his character.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt makes a surprisingly likeable and intriguing addition as young police officer John Blake, who plays a pivotal role in helping Batman. Marion Cotillard initially seemed like an odd addition as a colleague of Bruce at Wayne Enterprises, but her role does end up serving a purpose.

Anne Hathaway steals the show as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, a jewel thief looking for an escape from the crime world. She’s a femme fatale anti-heroine who’s witty, mysterious, manipulative and has no problem fighting anyone and would kill if she had to. Her ‘Catwoman’ name is not mentioned, however there’s plenty of cat reference including a newspaper article referring to her as “The Cat”. It’s mesmerizing how she plays people, such as pretending to be a shy maid and changing to a sophisticated party guest in an instant.

The chemistry between Bale and Hathaway is perfect, the way they exchange dialogue is so much fun to watch. Batman and Catwoman draw great contrasts to each other, such as her being from a poor background and having a blurred moral code, making her intriguing as both a love interest and an enemy.

Like the last two films, there are several memorable moments: Bane’s opening plane attack, Selina’s bar fight, Batman and Catwoman on the rooftop, the football stadium, the Batman Vs. Bane fight scene and not to mention the whole epic climax. But the final five minutes are fantastic, what a perfect way to end this trilogy, it had my heart pounding until the final shot. As a Batman fan, this ending felt like Christopher Nolan going to every fan and hugging them.

The Dark Knight Trilogy is my favourite film trilogy and my favourite superhero franchise of all time. They deliver on well-written characters – heroes and villains, psychological themes, layers of plot and epic action sequences. Batman is the greatest superhero of all time and this trilogy does him justice.

Perfect and Truly epic conclusion to this great trilogy.

All the encounters between Bruce and Bane are too good and the last 70-80 minutes are the best and too intense.

PIT jail part, mercenary and protector mystery part was very good too.

Also one of the best thing in this one is use of the background score in the action sequences .
It was totally cherry on the top and made it slightly better and more impactful than previous movies in the trilogy where that particular background score was only used in end credits mostly and not throughout the film .

Ending was so satisfying for me who loved Alfred and Bruce's relation

- Bane

- Though the lengthiest of the trilogy, it definitely lives up to its predecessor, “The Dark Knight (2008)”.

- Christian Bale does a great job throughout the whole trilogy, but here, in my view, is the best version of Batman he’s done.

- Bane, the most overpowered of any Batman villain, and Tom Hardy absolutely kills it (in more ways than one). However, in this movie in particular, I wish he was the only/singular villain, as opposed to sharing the spotlight with Ra’s al Ghul’s daughter, Talia.

- Between the Tumbler, the Batpod, and the Bat, I can honestly say the Bat is my favorite of his vehicles.

- I really wished we had gotten a Joseph Gordon-Levitt spin-off DC/Robin movie.

Overall, it’s an awesome conclusion to a phenomenal series centered around Batman that we’ll be lucky to see someone even coming close to topping it

Nolan was able to outdo himself once again creating a masterpiece worthy of admiration. The strongest point of the movie were not the action sequences or the special effects, but the incredible performances by all the cast. Unlike the previous installment of the trilogy in which Heath Ledger’s Joker literally stole the movie, this time the performances and the characters development is evened out.

Tom Hardy as Bane gave an extraordinary performance that rooted the character to reality. Brutal and ferocious throughout most of the movie, I think Bane’s best moment and one of my favorite scenes in the movie is when he is at his most vulnerable. Some people argue that Bane lacked character development, but what Hardy transmits with only his eyes near the end of the movie tells the audience everything they need to know about the character and his motivations. We also get to see the vulnerable side of Bruce Wayne portrayed again by Christian Bale. This time Bale nailed the character perfectly and gave his best performance as Batman to date.

Marion Cotillard was stunning as always and converted what could have been a very plain and dull role into something incredible. Anne Hathaway was a perfect cast for Catwoman and stole the show in most of the scenes she appeared in. Joseph Gordon-Levitt was also a great addition to the usual cast and he proved yet again that he has great talent. Finally I would like to talk about Michael Caine’s performance as Alfred. Breathtaking and heartbreaking at the same time. Alfred was the heart of this movie even if he had little screen time. Every one of his scenes was incredibly emotional and they brought me near to tears several times.

Needless to say the production and visual effects of the film were outstanding. The cinematography was beautiful, yet dramatic. The editing was almost flawless and helped convey the brutality of the action sequences without having to force the violence. Technically speaking this movie is almost perfect with a few exceptions such as the stadium sequence in which there are a few continuity errors with the crowd and the cgi of the stadium could have been more believable.

Even tough I loved this movie and give it a 10 out of 10 there are certain aspects that could have been better. First of all it should have been much more longer. Even tough it is almost three hours long the film felt too fast for me. I know is probably the studio’s fault and not Nolan’s, but I would really like to watch an extended edition. Also, a I would have liked to watch Bane’s real backstory.

I would recommend this movie for everyone no matter your tastes. This movie combines the best out of every genre and it’s a true masterpiece. As one aspiring Filmmaker I really admire Christopher Nolan for pulling this off and for constantly outdoing himself. This was a true masterpiece. Thanks to the whole TDKR cast and crew for giving us this amazing movie.

I always imagine the whole amphitheatre full of emotional screams, anxious sweat, the biting of nails and soars of victory. So good they'd be there for three consecutive days, nothing else mattered. This is the only way I can describe The Dark Knight trilogy as a cinematic experience, and the Dark Knight Rises is the perfect way to end that three day theatrical rollercoaster.
No matter how many times you watch it, the same excitement felt when watching it for the first time always prevails.

With most masterpieces, there will always be flaws but they become so easy to overlook when your heart is racing at 160bpm for over two and half hours. Bane is singlehandedly the hardest villain presented to us on the big screen, real life gave us Pablo and unfortunately no one can beat that guy.

Confession: I need Ann Hathaway dressed as Catwoman to beat me up just a lil.

Everyone brings there A-Game, still love the football pitch disappearing, love it as an ending of trilogy (only thing to bring this back is the Dark Knight Returns storyline with Bale as a very old Batman), Christoper Nolan really did an amazing job and it's up there with my favorite trilogies.
