This is the end of a trilogy that has kept most of its technical and casting team, managing to reach a visual and technical unit very positive for the whole of the final work. This is an action movie, purer than the predecessor, where psychological and dramatic themes had an enormous importance for the development of the plot. Here, as happened in the previous films, we should highlight the dose, accurate and flawless, of special visual and sound effects, as well as the carefully thought out sets and costumes, and the excellent photography. The cast was up to the job and Bale stood out again for the best reasons, giving his character a pleasant and well achieved credibility. Anne Hathaway was a surprise, revealing to be a much better Catwoman than most of the actresses that preceded her in the role, thanks to a discreet but very stark sensuality and credible costumes, much less far-fetched and sexist than the previously seen in cinema (but that is mostly merit of technical team and the way the writers rethought this character). Thus, although the movie is longer than the usually found in theaters, the public doesn't have a clear perception of the passage of time by being so well entertained.

Thus ended the Batman trilogy, which was finally able to give new life to this character, very mistreated by other films and sequences. Christopher Nolan has proved to be an excellent director and a very focused and realistic writer, managing to take the players they had better and guiding the technical requirements of harmonious and cohesive way. After all, comic-book films are decidedly not hopeless cases, when they have a steady hand behind, and a mind able to understand what the public would like to see.… Expand

Nolan and Bale accomplished what they set out to do, and truly made this film a great summer blockbuster.To cap the dark and grim trilogy off, it ended with Bruce Wayne having a happy ending. Except for the last part, I loved Bane almost as the Joker. I don't know why I like this movie, but I just loved it. Christopher Nolan is living genius.

3rd Installment of the Nolan Trilogy, another great movie a little disappointed that the villain isn't quite at the level of Heath Ledgers Joker but still a very good movie and send off for Bale's Batman.

Christopher Nolan just knows how to make movies. If he makes an action movie, it's an intense action flick. If it's a comedy, it's seriously funny. My point is, the Nolan Batman trilogy just has the best Batman movies ever.

Toda ideia da construção do Batman como um "simbolo" faz todo sentido, e a desconstrução disso no segundo filme, devido ao Joker, trouxe consequências muito bem aproveitadas nesse longa.

Diferente dos títulos anteriores, este aqui tem uma atmosfera mais sombria pelo modo de narrativa escolhido. Poucas piadas, alívios cômicos etc. Por outro lado, a ideia de destruir toda Gotham me parece banal ao seu proposito. Dito isso, toda carga filosófica que o vilão Bane tenta exercer não funciona também.

Porém o filme prende, tem cenas marcantes, desenvolve muito bem até o final e o mesmo acontece de maneira satisfatória.… Expand

Ultimately an interesting ending of the trilogy. It shows how someone can hit the bottom and still rise up... well, this is evident from many movies anyway :) nevertheless, i enjoyed the plot and the sense of mortality of the characters. A beautiful ending to an amazing trilogy, an interesting plot with the same brilliant cast. Bane (Tom Hardy) is pretty good in this movie, theres some really good fight scenes throughout this movie with him and without him. Finally, most of the CGI and green screen effects hold up pretty well. Overall, it's an excellent finish to an amazing trilogy of movies, worth the watch.


Almost forgetting to mention, Alfred (Michael Caine) and Lucius Fox (Morgan Freeman) have always done an amazing job during this brilliant movie.… Expand

Normally, the sequel can't hold up to the first movie. However, in this case, the sequel blew the first movie out of the water(!), which means that this movie didn't hardly stand a chance. I love Tom Hardy, especially in Peaky Blinders, but INormally, the sequel can't hold up to the first movie. I love Tom Hardy, especially in Peaky Blinders, but I was not sold on his performance as Bane. Part of the problem comes with deciding to make him European (Scottish?) instead of Latin American, according to the comics. I also thought it was a great injustice to reduce him from a mastermind to a mere muscled lackey in the end. I just don't know why it was necessary. I am also not the biggest fan of Anne Hathaway. She always seems to play the same type of character in every movie I've seen of hers, and her Catwoman just stuck a dissonant chord with me. She wasn't as smooth and stylish and sassy as her comic book counterpart nor previous movie iterations of the character. As for Joseph Gordon-Levitt, I love him as an actor. I like his character here...although is he from New Jersey or something? But I don't like how forced they made the "Robin" connection with him. Really? That is how you're introducing Robin? Not my favorite.
Lastly, where was Batman? I know it was all about Bruce Wayne rediscovering who he was and all that, but hadn't we already covered that ground in Batman Begins? Why not call it "Bruce Wayne Rises," then? I came to see Batman!!! It stinks that the action takes place in the first 20-30 minutes and the last 15-20 minutes, and all the rest is exposition. But, it's Batman. And I love it. And I wish we had still yet another movie. But I'll take what we got!… Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Honestly, I think there were a lot of things that could have been done in The Dark Knight Rises. And I understand why it feels that way. It was supposed to be a Batman vs Joker movie, until Heath Ledger's untimely demise and Christopher Nolan having to make a completely different movie. Considering that, it's actually pretty good. But the story is not the problem I'm talking about. The problems are different.

I really like how Nolan chose to use practical effects more in the trilogy. Bane has been changed from being a chemical-pumped wrestler to someone who wears a mask to control his pain. The Lazarus Pit was also shown to be an actual, physically possible place rather than a pool of nectar from which anyone comes out completely fine. Such ideas would have never been compatible with the tone of this franchise. Catwoman's suit also looks way better here than the comic book counterparts. The opening scene was very well shot in which Bane rips the plane in half.

The first problem that I had with this movie is how Batman takes so long to come, only to lose and then come back after very, very long. As a kid I hated the Batman vs Bane scene because first of all, I didn't know who Bane was. I used to think Bane is just some ordinary bald goon who managed to beat Batman. And secondly, because Batman looked way better and Catwoman had betrayed him. So I wanted him to beat Bane and then beat Catwoman also. But as I grew up and learnt more about Bane from the comics, I realised he's not just some mindless wrestler, but an actual genius. But either way, Batman was shown too less.

The second problem I had was, just like every other Nolan movie, the audio. Why do the dialogues have such a low volume and the background music is so high? I couldn't even hear how Selina justified stealing. I couldn't even hear what Bane said when he captured the sports ground and planted the bomb (his mask made it so hard to hear anyway).

Before I talk about the third problem, I'd really like to appreciate the final fight. It was so cool to see Batman fighting Bane in the snow alongside the police. I never thought I would ever get to see such a scene. It was so nicely shot, it could have actually been an oil painting. And at the end of the fight when the twist comes that the woman Bruce had been with the whole time was Talia al Ghul, I was genuinely shocked. I wasn't expecting this twist.

And now for the third problem, Batman is killing in this movie. He used his Batwing to shoot Talia's truck driver, and that subsequently led to Talia's weird death. He even tried killing Bane, when he said Bane had his permission to die after telling the location of the bomb remote. It would have made sense if it was just a raw threat like how Batman said to Joker in the end of Zack Snyder's Justice League, but he was actually serious over here. If Talia had not interrupted, he might have actually killed him.

The Dark Knight Rises is the kind of a movie I'd put in the same category as 300 or Star Wars Episode III - the movies I absolutely hated as a kid just because of a certain fight scene where the character I liked more lost, but ended up liking as I grew out of my immaturity. This movie is perfect in every aspect other than the three points I wrote above. And that's why I am removing 3 points.… Expand

I like this even more than I did the first few times I saw it. I think this is the Batman film I’ve seen the most and my love for it has overall just grown. The Dark Knight Rises is without question my favourite out of the Nolan trilogy and a superb, emotionally resonant piece of cinema.
The best part about these films has always been Christian Bale's Batman; having a significant portion of this film being devoted to a character study of him is everything I wanted from this final chapter. Because of the absence of the physical Batman suit we get an actual psychological insight into what it would actually feel like being Batman and more importantly being Bruce Wayne, a broken, worn and tired Bruce Wayne. Michael Cane's Alfred has a more prominent part this time which is so important to the narrative and overall as wholesome as ever to watch on-screen and Anne Hathaway is just perfect as Catwoman but once again and more importantly as Selina.

Bane. Bane is the daddy. What a horrific and disgusting villain portrayed flawlessly by Tom Hardy. Not only is he my favourite Batman villain time but one of the best villains of all time because he actually feels like a true psychopath!
Joseph-Gordon Levitt as... Blake is also a very welcome addition and does wonders for the plot of Gotham under dictatorship during the winter and ultimately is responsible from keeping the gargantuan 165 minute runtime from feeling bloated. Props to you Joseph, you truly were the man at the helm of the TDKR plot ship keeping things moving.

The reason I love The Dark Knight Rises so much is because its heart and soul is with the character arcs and emotions; whilst Batman Begins was a marvellous world-builder and The Dark Knight was an epic action-crime spectacle, TDKR is a true Batman film in the sense the main focus is showing us the struggle and the heart of Bruce Wayne but more importantly showing us that everyone has it in them to be the best of themselves… Expand

I only put this behind The Bourne Ultimatum and Return of the King as the greatest conclusion to a trilogy ever. One of the biggest criticisms I've heard of this movie is that Batman wouldn't just retire for 8 years as if that's a viable reason to not like this movie. The entire point of this trilogy is to show you the kind of toll it would take on a real human being had said person had the resources to become Batman or any hero for that matter. Where other superhero stories make you want to live in the heroes shoes, this trilogy makes you want to stay as far away from that life as possible. Let's get this out of the way quickly, Bane just like Ras Al Ghul in Batman Begins get overlooked as great cinematic villains because of the greatest of Heath Ledger. But he is without question one of the 2010s best if not most iconic antagonist. His hand to hand combat scenes are something to behold as are the action set pieces of the film. The third act alone might be my favorite of any movie this decade.

I still remember bawling my eyes out during Alfred's scene at Bruce's grave. I was not a fan of Anne Hathaway for whatever reason growing up but looking back she really was a good Catwoman despite the fact that she tries a little too hard at times. Marion Cotillard on the other hand blew me away. I hope she works with Nolan again because they seem to get the best out of each other. I'm sure I'll revisit this much sooner next time around but my thoughts on this trilogy remain the same. It's the best we've ever gotten and I doubt it'll ever be topped. 10/10… Expand

I don't have any criticism of this film at all, it's such a carefully crafted film that if I had to list something negative, I would have to nitpick, and in this 2 hour and 40 minute classic, that simply would be an exercise in futility. It’s not to say this is flawless because there are a couple of nitpicks I personally have but this is a fantastic way to wrap up the entire trilogy. It has one of the best villains to be ever put on film and I mean it. Bane’s voice, his demeanor, and Tom Hardy’s performance are intimidating but he is also similar to Batman because he is doing it for someone he loves. People are mad about the twist, calling him a henchman. He is no henchman, he is an ally. We even see that after Talia left, he attempted to kill Batman which is smart as hell because he didn’t want things to go sideways, but they did. The way he dies acts karma because Bane killed people like pawns and it went full circle because Selina Kyle made a joke which treated him like it was nothing. Also, if he died slower, it would just waste time. And Bruce’s journey is one of the best things because people point out that it's repetitive, and it's not. The first time, he puts the cape and cowl on, he becomes a suicide bomber, he is certain he will die and he can’t stop Bane from burning Gotham to ashes, he is doing it for selfish desires because he believes there is nothing there for him, and when he climbs out of the pit, he returns to the symbol he was. Also, Bruce climbing out of the prison is fantastic and him getting into the city isn’t a plothole because he used the 23 days he had and you know BB told us that he knew to steal, and someone forgot about being invisible. Also, the neighboring city isn’t on lockdown, so he can get in there just to go to the city. Seriously, it’s so bloody apparent. Also, this is the most thematic of the entire trilogy, with the theme of love, redemption, corruption, and vengeance… Expand

For it's lengthy conclusion and emotional farewells, still doesn't quite hold a candle to the iconic first. But I'm glad it exists. Could've ended better? Of course. But the execution of the film overall makes me happy as is. I still recommend it.

Watching this film for the first time in theaters, with no knowledge of filmmaking, not even a movie fan at that time, just a normal audience going in the theatres for a ride, I remember coming out completely satisfied and floored. This film still crowns the most pristine look for an action film. The cinematography, the snow falling in the city of Gotham, everything about the visuals of this film is just screaming awesomeness, and for the longest time I hold this film as the pinnacle of the best looking action film and I still do.

In many ways, the minor flaws in here is so insignificant compare to the memorable bits of the film. This rendition of cat woman is by far the best one ever. Anne Hathaway achieves the perfect balance of sexiness and the feminine wit in this character, the visual design is also perfect. Bane is such an underrated villain, Tom Hardy adds so much on the character’s simple motivation, the menace through his voice and his physicality rivals Batman and his energy brought so much to the tension we felt in the film. The opening and ending scene is one of the best in movie cinema.

One of my favourite aspects of this film is how Nolan coins the genre of the superhero saga into a prison break movie. The design of the pit is visually so mesmerizing, every time the camera points up to the light and we see the cave of the prison, the picture just becomes this visceral canvas of beauty in horror. The moment when Bruce Wayne confronts his true fear by foregoing the only security from the rope, it’s honestly so badass that it trumps every other character moment in any Marvel movies and DC movies for that matter.

After so many years, there’s still not one DCEU movie that achieves this style of epic grounded action thriller where Nolan single-handedly master in Hollywood. It’s only until 2016 where Denis Villeneuve finally managed to make something that comes close to that level of authentic grandness.

The Dark Knight Rises also has the best score in the trilogy in my opinion, the best score for any hero movies, the perfect balance of grandness, epicness, the unsung melancholy and the haunting beauty of romantic sacrifice.… Expand

This is so great. A great finale to one of the best trilogies of all time. Tom Hardy, Anne Hathaway and Joseph Gordon-Levitt are great additions to the cast and they give an amazing performance. Just like the other 2 films in this trilogy, this movie is perfect. It's a long movie, but there isn't a single dull moment, every minute is exciting. I love the story, the cinematography and the performances are great as well. I also love the characters in this movie, Bane is an awesome villain, Batman/ Bruce Wayne is great as always, Miss Tate creates a nice plot twist and Selina Kyle/ catwoman is also a great character. I am of the firm belief that Bruce Wayne dies at the end, but the point is that Batman doesn't die - and the true Dark Knight that rises is Robin in the very last shot of the film. This is the perfect final instalment of the most perfect film trilogy of all time. Bane is the perfect villain, menacing and memorable in a totally different way to both Ra's al Ghul and the Joker, and Selina Kyle, Talia al Ghul, and Robin are the perfect additions to this mythology. I already knew that I loved The Dark Knight Rises, but I almost forgot how much I actually love it. The best thing about this trilogy is that Christopher Nolan does something different with each entry. His movies change with his perspective of film. With that said, the experience you get with The Dark Knight is much different than that of Batman Begins. The same goes between the two sequels, but they play off of each other incredibly well and each makes the last one even better. Honestly, The Dark Knight Rises might be my favorite of the trilogy. TDK is a technical masterpiece, but Rises is enjoyable in every which way. When I think about my favorite movie scenes of all time, a few are packed inside of this one. From the introduction of Bane, to the football stadium. From Batman’s first encounter of the masked terrorist, to everything that happens in The Pit... I will never not love this movie. The make it or break it factor for audiences has always been the last section of the movie. In my opinion, that ending is awesome! Above all else, this film is a great culmination of Nolan’s story and an amazing way to wrap up one of the best superhero trilogies of all time.

This is the best version of Bruce Wayne. The way his character is built off of his relationship with other characters is fantastic storytelling, and this movie delivers that more than anything else. “Vulnerability” is always important to recognize, and The Dark Knight Rises showcases a more broken Batman, taking up a fight that he knows he can’t win. With that, this movie is a journey that will never get old. But on that journey, one element shines almost perfectly: characters. Christopher Nolan uses this final entry to dive deep into the heads of his characters. Rather it be the relationships between them, or how they view the world, this movie gives us a deeper and often times darker perspective at this version of Gotham. Every second is worth it, from beginning to when it all comes back around at the end. Of course, Christian Bale is once again phenomenal and proves to be the best Batman thats ever graced the screen. In the opposing corner is Bane. While he doesn’t get the villain treatment the entire movie, he is a terrifying threat and an extremely effective character study. If there’s one thing Nolan can do better than most, thats villains. Having Tom Hard fill the shoes was a great choice, as he does something with the character that nobody else could. Catwoman, Alfred, Lucius, John, and Gordon are all amazing as well, but I can’t type forever. One last note before I close it out: the action is at a whole new level in this one. The intense action sequences and the phenomenal fight choreography make for a ride like no other. Throw in Batman’s epic one liners and the movie is even greater. The Dark Knight Rises is and forever will be one of my all time favorites. Every second of this film is something special.… Expand

Wow. I adore this film. It's a film with much gravity--it's a heavy conclusion. A worthy successor to 'TDK'. Bane is a monster in many ways. He's the antithesis to Batman; a near perfect villain, very Darth Vadar-esque.

Christopher Nolan doesn't play games when it comes to making movies. Everything he touches turns to greatness. The cinematography is flawless here, the production design is wicked, and the script is solid. Though this production went through many changes after the death of Heath, it's still a very good movie.

Wally Pfister kills the look of this story, much like he did the prequels. However, this film has a more unique look. You can tell it's the third act of an epic story. Gotham is more gritty than ever--the 'Tale of 2 Cities' vibe is spot-on.

Thematically, 'TDKR' is beautiful, and has tremendous gravitas. Nolan's usage of practical effects and fight sequences is genius. You can see his improvement from all technical standpoints. Though not better than 'TDK', this conclusion is more than fitting and is nearly equal to the previous take.

Christian Bale seems worn out here as an actor, but that fits well with the story. After so much time being a crime-fighter, and taking years off from being 'The Batman', Bruce Wayne is injured, stressed, and exhausted; a recluse is what Bruce has become. He doesn't even show his face, which pays homage to Howard Hughes in various ways.

The realistic naturalism is still there. The Bat-Pod is a charm, as is the 'Bat-Wing'. Catwoman is done wonderfully in this take--Anne Hathaway is quite a woman, and she fills the shoes of Michelle Pfeiffer well; doing a performance that pays respect yet is its own thing.

Batman does his thing as always--he's stealthy, smart, and has tons of gadgetry. Yet, when he meets Bane all that changes. Bane is the exact equal to Bruce Wayne, but he's somewhat superior, especially when it comes to strength. Both Batman and Bane are students of 'The League of Shadows', both were mentored by Ra's Al Ghul.

This film contains one of the best fight sequences I've ever seen. It's hand-to-hand combat--the sequence is chilling as we see Bane's intimidating fighting style that shakes even Mr. Wayne.

Batman fights someone who is physically above him in every way. Bane "breaks" The Batman with ease.

"Why do we fall?"

'TDKR' is a blockbuster hit, and a successful ending to the trilogy. I saw it in IMAX and I was utterly excited all throughout the proceedings. I'm sure you've seen this, and if you haven't, shame on you. You must see the end of Nolan's Batman. It's an absolute must-see, all three films… Expand

The Dark Knight Rises is the third and concluding chapter to Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight Trilogy, and is what I consider to be, a grand fitting end to the Christian Bale Batman/Bruce Wayne story arc. Released in 2012 to tremendous box office and critical reception, The Dark Knight Rises managed to become the highest grossing Batman film of all time, surpassing the hefty financial gain of The Dark Knight (2008), and still bares that title to this day. The Dark Knight Rises also has a few criticisms drawn from fans and critics alike, despite its mainly universal appraisal. Luckily for me, I'm not one of these hateful naysayers that hold any vice against this film.
Drawing inspiration from various Batman comics storylines, such as "Knightfall," "No Man's Land," and "The Dark Knight Returns," The Dark Knight Rises manages to convey an engaging and effectively entertaining plot that's jampacked with numerous allusions, homages, colossal themes, and most importantly, a gratifying and emotionally powerful conclusion. Christopher Nolan really outdid himself with this production. Not only do we get a phenomenal plot, but we get phenomenal choreographed action sequences and intense visuals. The special effects alone are a treat to the eyes!!
Christian Bale is remarkable in his final performance as Bruce Wayne, bringing us a battle-hardened, broken hero who must rise past his broken spirit (and broken physical limitations thanks to Bane and previous fights) in order to save Gotham City from total nuclear destruction. Familiar faces aiding him such as characters portrayed by Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman, and Gary Oldman bring their A-game in their final roles also. Newcomer Joseph Gordon Levitt does great as cop John Blake. And Marion Cotillard delivers an alluring, mystifying dual-identity role as Miranda Tate/Talia Al Ghul.
But it's fellow newcomers Tom Hardy and Anne Hathaway that really stand out. The Bane we get in this movie is a lot different than the remedial one we get in Batman And Robin (1997); this new one portrayed greatly by Tom Hardy feels almost ripped straight from the comic books: an intelligent mountain of a man, who poses as both a physical and intellectual threat to Batman. Behind Heath Ledgers groundbreaking performance of The Joker, he's my favorite Batman villain in Nolan's trilogy.
Anne Hathaway portrays Selina Kyle/Catwoman, a professional cat burglar, grifter, and femme fatale who develops a relationship with Bruce Wayne/Batman. She manages to evoke the sense of who Catwoman really is, and does such a great performance, she rivals Michelle Pfeifer's take on the character in Tim Burton's Batman Returns (1992). Lest we forget the intricate and meticulously well-shot 70mm IMAX cinematography? Or Han Zimmer's delightfully haunting musical score? Or every sliver of a detail perfectly synchronised to make connection and reference to the entire trilogy as a whole? No, lest us not forget… Expand

Tom Hardy's Bane I think is one of the best villains of the decade. He played such an excellent character. Other standouts include Bale's Batman, Hathaway's Catwoman, and Caine's Alfred.

The score, which I am currently listening to, is also extremely exceptional.

This movie also looks amazing. From the camerawork to the visual effects and the costumes to the production design.

This is the longest DC film released to theaters. (But it ain't got **** on the 3 and a half hour Watchmen Ultimate Cut.) At 165 minutes, Nolan crafts a well executed and, as usual, fast paced story.

And the theme of the trilogy I noticed twice. Once figuratively when Batman comes back after 8 years and literally when Bruce is in the pit.

This is my favorite Nolan movie. My favorite Batman movie. **** it, even my favorite DC movie.

Joseph Gordon-Levitt also excels as police officer John Blake who we later find out is 'Robin' which is another aspect I absolutely adore. The twists and turns, action, grand scale, powerful score by Hans Zimmer, amazing characters and fantastic tension building, makes The Dark Knight Rises one of the best movies of the twenty-first century.

After the events of The Dark Knight, I feel that this movie builds on what everything that Harvey Dent fought for before Joker messed with him and Bane (who is played perfectly by Tom Hardy) just destroys everything and that entire gut-punch just hits me so hard every time I witness it. Bane as a character too is also great. Through my eyes he truly is more of a threat than Joker was in The Dark Knight. Even though Heath Ledger gives a better performance than Tom Hardy did, I feel that Bane tore Gotham down more than Joker did.

All the new characters such as: Selina Kyle, Miranda Tate and Blake are fantastic and they are all characters I root for and knowing Tate works for Bane, I still buy into her being friends with Bruce. This being the conclusion to The Dark Knight Trilogy, I feel this is the perfect way to end Bruce's arc as Batman. In Batman Begins, he is a person who is lost and needs guidance. In The Dark Knight, he is shown as a person who is conflicted on whether he should turn himself in to protect the citizens of Gotham and in The Dark Knight Rises he must come back and save everyone in Gotham from Bane's reign of terror. The way Nolan shows the progression of Bruce's character is truly amazing for me and out of all the superhero trilogies out there, The Dark Knight Trilogy is the only one that blows my mind every single time I watch it. The emotion, the stakes, the score and everything else makes this my favourite trilogy to date.

Overall, The Dark Knight Rises is truly a statement on how to make a conclusion correctly and this is the definition of a perfect film.… Expand

Christopher Nolan’s final Batman film really went out with a bang! His directing went into a whole another level and blew everyone’s expectations to dust. Just like his other films, this amazing trilogy have a genuine emotional heartbeat! Even some of the best Batman graphic novels were inspired by the trilogy, Nolan made them in his own vision. His vision with production and costume designs, CGI, and breathtaking scenery is absolutely visionary! He is why he’s one of my favorite filmmakers. God, I wish I’ve gone to see the last 2 Batman flicks in theaters.

The entire cast was outstanding! Including new ones, like Tom Hardy, Anne Hathaway, Marion Cotillard, and Joseph Gordon-Levitt. Hardy’s Bane was phenomenal. I mean, he was a force to be reckoned with! While the Joker (played by the late great Heath Ledger) was a criminal mastermind for bringing chaos into Gotham, Bane was wanting to put Gotham in the hands of criminals, and let them destroy and burn the city to the ground, and put every single citizen in fear. Hathaway’s Selina Kyle/Catwoman was outstanding too! It’s crazy how we’ve all seen her in The Princess Diaries, and she takes an amazing turn in her career to become one of the best actresses in the world to work with, work with great filmmakers, win an Oscar for Les Misérables, and play in a Batman flick as a Batman nemesis. And Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Officer John Blake is awesome! He proved to be a really good actor! He really sunk his teeth into playing this original character, who was a firm believer in Batman, and would later be revealed as Robin!

The scenes in it are really indescribable to say how fantastic they are! The scene where Alfred tells Bruce that he will leave because he couldn’t go on seeing Bruce be Batman and get himself hurt again or get himself killed, after previous events from the second film, Blake trying to convince Bruce that Gotham still needs a hero, the scene where we also get to see Bane and Selina Kyle for the first time, Catwoman screws Batman over and loses his fight to Bane, the football field being blown up along with half of Gotham, the cops and bad guys fight on the street, along with Batman and Bane, and the ending! The ending where Alfred sees his dream come true with Bruce and Selina are together in Florence, and Blake now becoming Robin and having the Batcave to himself. I could go on saying how epically tear jerking ending was all day!

The Dark Knight Rises is a gorgeous reminder that great writing and directing can enhance any movie going experience. Even superhero films, which are thought as mindless entertainment. Though I love Tim Burton’s Batman, I am still satisfied with Christopher Nolan’s amazing trilogy! This is another trilogy that is my all time favorite, like the original Toy Story trilogy, The Lord of the Rings, and Jason Bourne. 2012 has been good to us, by bringing great films. We had The Avengers, The Dark Knight Rises, Ted, Django Unchained, and Skyfall. As of right now, my favorite film from that year is Django Unchained, my all time favorite Nolan film is Inception, and my all time favorite Batman film still is The Dark Knight. But I am very happy to say, this was the best epic ending to TDK, thanks to Christopher Nolan and his creative vision! I will continue my Batman marathon. Today, I will watch Batman v Superman, and Batman Forever for the first time. All leading up to when Joker comes to theaters next Friday. And soon, like I mentioned, I’ll do a list from best to mediocre Batman films.

I’m giving The Dark Knight Rises 5 stars!… Expand

There's so much greatness in this finale that unfortunately some people disregard for stupid and nitpick reasons.
The story, the performances, the score, the themes, the action, the finale, everything just makes TDKR as well as the rest of the trilogy as one of cinema's greatest treasures.

Every aspect of this movie is perfect including the acting, the story, the production and direction. Let's start with Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne once again; he delivers an outstanding performance as a man who was broken and crippled from the previous movie. He's now a recluse and has to learn to become batman again in order to stop the new threat to Gotham city and Christian Bale nails everything about this character. In the second act Bruce Wayne is locked in a prison and he is a completely broken man, he has to train himself up again to escape and then he ready to fight Bane. It makes it a very compelling and interesting story just from this perspective. However the real star of this movie is Tom Hardy as Bane. He gives an incredibly gripping and threatening performance that even rivals Heath Ledger's Joker. He's not just smart, he's incredibly powerful physically, and this is shown in his first fight with Batman, where he completely destroys him and then takes over Gotham city. Everything about Tom Hardy's performance is excellent and he'll go down as one of my favourite villains ever. The movie does a fantastic job of keeping you constantly on edge, Bane's master plan is so gripping and complex that the movie is completely unpredictable and it makes for a more interesting watch than most movies, all thanks to the direction of Christopher Nolan and the writers for coming up with an amazing conclusion to what is easily the best trilogy of all time… Expand

This is it. The final chapter. The conclusion to a 3-film series that was 7 years in the making. The Dark Knight Rises marks the end of one of cinema's most audacious and idolized trilogies of the 21st century. To say it goes out with a bangThis is it. The final chapter. The conclusion to a 3-film series that was 7 years in the making. The Dark Knight Rises marks the end of one of cinema's most audacious and idolized trilogies of the 21st century. To say it goes out with a bang would be an understatement. This is Christopher Nolan's culmination to his "one for them" type of mentality. Nolan is one of the few people where his "one for me" and "one for them" films equally have their own distinct vision and uniqueness. With each and every Batman film ramping up the stakes, The Dark Knight Rises proves there's still enough gas in the tank to send this franchise off in style.

Everything I've said in my Batman Begins and The Dark Knight reviews still stands true. Christian Bale is the best onscreen Batman as of now and the supporting cast around him are powerhouse performers. Carrying over from the previous films are Gary Oldman, Morgan Freeman and a heartbreaking Michael Caine. Alfred legitimately gets a few tearjerkers in as he comments about the deterioration Batman has caused Bruce Wayne. The atmosphere Nolan gives to Gotham City remains as gritty as ever if not more, taking inspiration from two Batman stories in the comics, No Man’s Land and Knightfall. Tone is critical when evolving and developing a franchise, and if you don't maintain that consistency across the board, you're doomed.

The newbies to the cast are amazing. Tom Hardy as Bane is so intimidating. Yes, I understand why people make fun of his voice (guilty as charged sometimes), but if you saw the early IMAX prologue then you know Bane's voice could have been a whole lot worse. If you had a breathing mask on your face I don't think you'd sound like you normally would. Bane feels like a natural progression to have as the villain. If Ra's al Ghul was the philosopher and the Joker was the anarchist, then Bane is a combination of those two, combined with some sheer brute force. Tom Hardy is **** huge. He got seriously jacked for this role. You feel his presence constantly and get behind why people fear him.

Other new additions include Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle/Catwoman. I like rooting for Hathaway and she is quite the badass in this role. Joseph Gordon-Levitt is John Blake, a dedicated member of the Gotham City Police Department. JGL is always up to the task no matter how big or small his role is. The gorgeous Marion Cotillard is Miranda Tate, an acquaintance of Bruce trying to restore Wayne Enterprises to its former glory. Just from Cotillard's eyes I can tell her emotions, the sign of a good actress. Like The Dark Knight, we get a slew of great character actors making up the periphery characters, starting with an especially slimy Ben Mendelsohn, Tom Conti, Matthew Modine, Josh Pence, Daniel Sunjata, Juno Temple, Alon Abutbul, Aidan Gillen and Brett Cullen just to name a few.

Someway, somehow, Nolan manages to top and occasionally rival the action scenes from the previous two Batman films. The cold open plane hijacking is a serious contender for some of the best stunt work I've seen. The attack on the Gotham Stock Exchange is especially frightening and the ensuing chase is exhilarating. I love that Batman and Bane's first fight is devoid of music entirely (bless the Hans Zimmer score though) and filled only with the physical sounds of punches being thrown. When Bane detonates the underground bombs and collapses the bridges throughout Gotham, the resulting blasts are a sight to behold thanks to Wally Pfister's endlessly breathtaking shots. The final fight as Gotham wages an all out war against itself is spectacular too.

A prevalent theme in The Dark Knight Rises is the emphasis on class. Bruce and Selina have opposing views when it comes to this. Bruce is against class warfare, but Selina sees it as her right to punish the wealthy for taking too much and giving too little. This is further expanded upon as Bane takes it upon himself to literally drag the rich out of their homes when he takes over midway through the film. Bane's revolution is very reminiscent of the Occupy Wall Street movement. Batman's absence has created even more of a rift between the rich and the poor than there already was. Batman's status as a uniting force is put further on display as well, giving Bruce moments to reflect on his legacy as the caped crusader.

If I'm underselling it, perhaps that's because it is hard to describe in words how freaking fantastic this movie is. There are days I don't know where to place it among the other two films. Not once does Nolan ever feel like patronizing to the audience. He treats them as fellow intellectuals, writing a story with his brother that showcases the extreme weight and magnitude it takes to be the savior that the city of Gotham deserves. It pulls no punches, isn't afraid to get dirty and most importantly of all, treats its characters with the utmost respect.… Expand

The Dark Knight Rises is every bit as good as The Dark Knight. It's a powerfully acted ensemble piece. The set pieces are dynamic, exciting, and masterfully shot and edited. Bane is a beast of a character, brilliant and brutal.

The motifs of the first two films were fear and sanity. The motif of this one is fulfillment. Bane, Talia al Ghul, Alfred, Batman, and Catwoman are all trying to complete what they started and fulfill their missions so that they can finally rest. Bane and Talia want to finish what the League of Shadows started and destroy Gotham. Alfred wants to take care of Bruce Wayne as he promised. Batman wants to make Gotham safe so that he can finally quit being Batman, even if it kills him. Catwoman wants a clean slate, which she gets by running off with Batman. This entire film is about unfinished business.

My favorite storyline in the film is the inner transformation Bruce Wayne has to make to move on from Rachel. She's killed off brutally by the Joker, and Bruce believed in his soul she was waiting for him to quit being Batman when in fact she chose Dent over him. He refuses to quit being Batman. Ironically, as soon as she dies, he stops being Batman and mourns for her for 8 years, never moving on, no matter how many people try to encourage him to get back out there.

Then along comes Seline Kyle. They fall in love over the course of the film, as antagonists, but when Batman finally is able to save Gotham and destroy the League of Shadows, he is therefore finally able to move on from Batman and into a relationship with an equal and rest.

Batman truly wins. He changed Gotham, became the symbol of hope, and now that Gotham no longer needs him, he can move on, and the person he moves on with is someone who accepts him who he really is, as Batman, not someone who wants him to be someone else.… Expand

My favourite Batman film of all time. This is the conclusion the trilogy deserved. No lies detected at all. Everything about this masterpiece is phenomenal and Nolan did his best to make the hard work pay off with this one.

The themes of Rising is truly empowering and inspiring to the point where it associates with myself, the audience, and Bruce himself. For years, he's been stuck with the pain he hasn't been able to outrun. The only solution is to move on. But how? How can Bruce take a leap of faith and finally get the life he deserves? To be free of the pain he's been stuck with ever since Joker caused chaos in Gotham? Or ever since he fell down that well as a kid? This is explored in an impactful way and Bale had the chops to showcase it with a great performance.

Spanning across the trilogy, he's the ONLY actor (so far) to portray Bruce in a complexed way. The multiple layers Bale adds to the character (the Billionaire, the vigilante and the REAL Bruce Wayne) is straight up perfect. The Pit scene is perfect. It is a direct reference to the Lazarus Pit in the comics (where the dead can be resurrected). But as these films are intended, a much more realistic approach is implemented, substituting the comic logic for a psychological and grounded one.

When the man leaves the Pit, Batman is left behind in it, Bruce Wayne was the one who escaped. All these years, he was able to overcome his greatest fears permanently to RISE up stronger than ever. This allowed for an opportunity to live the life Alfred had always hoped for him and to establish the Batman as a symbol for all and not just for one man. I could talk hours and hours defending and gushing over how this film gets everything right about the Batman character/mythos and the journey Bruce has in this one. The Dark Knight Rises is my favourite Batman film of all time and I cannot express how much of a fan I've always been of this film as well as Christian Bale's portrayal as Batman… Expand

THE DARK KNIGHT RISES is an overt attack on the principles of fascism, accelerationism, jingoism, the works. It's a movie which largely owes its narrative/thematic arcs to Dickens' A TALE OF TWO CITIES, which is a book mostly about one city, materially, and two cities, spiritually. Like that novel, TDKR is about a manipulative, ideology-free agent who seizes control of anti-establishment sentiment created under a borderline-fascist police state to seed dissent and violence until he is a god-king.

Batman is there, too, and all of the movie fundamentally happens because he's a selfish, horny **** who had no business being a superhero (in this narrative). This is a movie about falling, failing, climbing out of the wreckage of the consequences of your actions and then punching the manifest form of everything you swore to oppose in the face until he gets shot by Catwoman on a motorcycle… Expand

The perfect finale to Nolan’s perfect The Dark Knight trilogy, The Dark Knight Rises is a film that rises above its own spectacle to bask and utilise its own absurdity and theatricality to form a thrilling, blockbuster ending to the story ofThe perfect finale to Nolan’s perfect The Dark Knight trilogy, The Dark Knight Rises is a film that rises above its own spectacle to bask and utilise its own absurdity and theatricality to form a thrilling, blockbuster ending to the story of Batman. Continuing on from The Dark Knight in its themes of justice, it brings about talk about Gotham’s belief of righteousness, their belief in falsely-placed morality and justice, their loss of hope, and Bruce’s loss of his self.

Reclining into the shadows of his mansion and his own pitfalls as Bruce Wayne, Batman is no longer, in this post-Dent act world of Gotham; a Gotham cleaned up by Harvey’s covered-up white knight legacy - a constant reminder of hope and justice, but a constant deterrent of Bruce’s reign as Batman and Batman’s dark knight symbol of heroism to Gotham and its people. It’s a dark world of hope, conflicting yes, almost oxymoronic, a’s hope should rival darkness, but unknowingly to Gotham, this false hope that has been promised only brings forth darker, grimmer consequences for them.

In that grim consequence the arrival of Bane and the League of Shadows; their impending doom upon Gotham, in what they consider to be “justice”, which brings us back to heavy themes of morality and in where it lies in justice, themes which lived and breathed heavily throughout this film’s predecessors, the two previous instalments in the trilogy, Batman Begins and The Dark Knight. Is there any sense of morality in their strive for what they consider justice? To them perhaps, but to the people of Gotham, it’s a senseless, sinful act of murder and chaotic, anarchic undoing for all that Dent stood for and all that Batman as symbol tried to stand for and took the fall for. Its unrelenting as a tide against the white knight hope and light of Dent’s figure as a clean, just and assured DA.

On the spotlight of Bane and the League of Shadows, I must praise Hardy. Commanding, brooding, dominating. Every scene he’s in is his to take, his to reign over in power, to shadow over; his presence is colossal over this film and among some of the best villain performances. I think he’s also just neat because of how funny he is at times, like he can get so comical with his stoic-sounding lines that are just ironic, and he is insanely quotable as a character alone.

There’s so much I could say about The Dark Knight Rises that already has been said but I just love it and think that even its absurdity, it is fully embracing of its bigger-than-life theatrics and its gargantuan blockbuster scale, and in that embrace, it becomes such an emotional, cathartic, powerful, intimate yet large scaled finale to my all-time favourite film trilogy.

It’s not just an awe-dropping, hard-hitting cathartically moving finale but also an inspiring story of rising from our own fears and our own downfalls, to form our own realities. But even with rising from fear, it tells us to embrace fear, one of the most human feelings, to move on from what we fear and what is holding us back as a whole. Bruce rises from his reclusion to become Batman again, to fend off the doom Bane brings to Gotham, but defeated by Bale, he is broken (even literally - back break!) and thrown down a pit of darkness (literally again - Bane’s hellish pit!), but through this fall he rises again, The Dark Knight Rises, and he goes back to save Gotham, because even if it isn’t what Gotham needs, it’s what Gotham deserves - according to Bruce - and he “sacrifices himself” to save his city. He climbs out of the pit by embracing his previous fear of death. By acknowledging that he fears death, he is able to embrace the feeling and rise above it, climbing out of the pit and of his own downfall and fears to save Gotham once again. Also, in this sacrifice, he gets to be reborn, and in this rebirth of himself, no more Batman, no more Bruce Wayne, no more the person and symbol that held him back from moving on and leading another life. This rebirth only known to Alfred, in line with a vision Alfred would imagine in his previous travels when Bruce was away in Batman Begins. It’s a beautiful rebirth that Bruce deserves and a rebirth he deserved.

Yeah, I love The Dark Knight trilogy as a whole and I just adore The Dark Knight Rises, as a film and as a perfectly cathartic finale to the best, and my favourite trilogy. I love Nolan and his vow towards practicality and theatricality, and they’re majorly at play here, especially with Bane’s prison and that incredibly awing plane scene that opens the film with suspense and sets the thrilling, brooding tone of the film.

Furthermore, on a final note, this brooding finale to the trilogy, on 15/70mm IMAX, is an essential watch. A colossal, epic, larger-than-life and truly suspenseful cinematic experience of the highest senses and highest qualities.… Expand

This is a spectacular film, one that reconfirms Nolan's as one of today's greatest filmmakers. This is the darkest chapter in Nolan's franchise. Eight years after Batman has retired, he is called upon once again. I felt that this was the most poignant and chilling Batman film. Brilliantly acted and directed. This is one of the best action films of the year and is destined to be a classic of the genre. This film tears across the screen and delivers something special. As far as I'm concerned this was better than The Avengers, only because I felt that this film had a bit more substance to its story. The Dark Knight Rises makes you feel all sorts of human emotions, Melancholy, hope, happiness, this film really is something unique. I had chills during the film. This is one epic film, and all involved should be proud of what they accomplished. I personally feel that this was one of Christopher Nolan's greatest accomplishments as a filmmaker. This film is destined to become one of the classic superhero films. In a way, Nolan's trilogy should be viewed as Batman's redemption because after the train wreck Batman & Robin, Christopher Nolan gave us two excellent Batman films that redefined the genre. Now with this third part, he completes his trilogy beautifully. What this film possesses is a poignant story that just elevates the trilogy to new heights of excitement.

This film starts off slow, but it doesn't take too long for the action to take over. Once it starts, boy does it start. This is the action film of the year; if you're a fan of Batman you will certainly love this film. While The Joker proved an incredible adversary for Batman, Bane is just one of the meanest, most bad assed villains that Batman has faced yet. In regards to Bane's voice, I understood quite clearly, and Tom Hardy was perfect in the part. Another performance of note is that of Michael Caine as Alfred. This time around there is so much strain in Bruce's and Alfred's relationship that you actually feel some genuine emotion for the characters, and that's what Christopher Nolan's Batman films have, emotion and feeling.

This is simply put a flawless action film that delivers a stunning cinematic experience. Even if Warner Brothers decides to reboot the franchise, the standards that Nolan has set with his trilogy will never be matched. This film is the perfect end to a franchise, and The Dark Knight Rises indeed. This is a brilliantly constructed picture that is epic, dark and explores new limits to the superhero formula.… Expand

Yup, this is my favourite of the Nolan Batman trilogy. I love every frame of this movie shame there is no space in my top 4 or else this would 100% be there. Either way, The Dark Knight Rises is underappreciated for what it is, Nolan utilizes IMAX to his best ability this time around whereas in TDK it seemed more as an experimentation. Practical stunts are still impressive, batpods, batmobile, plane stunts and so on. Leaving the pit scene is definitely top 10 CBM scenes ever, Tom Hardy plays an incredible villain that still made an iconic villain despite Heath Ledger coming right before him. Everything in the snow is extremely climactic, well made, and grand. Plus one thing I respect about The Dark Knight Rises is that it actually knows this is the ending, though making billions for Warner Bros., still advertised as the conclusion. This really is the end of the line. That’s just what makes these stories great, as you are able to see complete arcs and not a cancelled fourth film. Nolan’s trilogy feels complete because of this.

I find myself at a loss on how to start this review. Did it exceed all my expectations? Most definitely. Was it the greatest superhero film to date? In my eyes yes, undoubtedly. I feel I must first confess that I approached ChristopherI find myself at a loss on how to start this review. Did it exceed all my expectations? Most definitely. Was it the greatest superhero film to date? In my eyes yes, undoubtedly. I feel I must first confess that I approached Christopher Nolan’s third, and regrettably, final entry into his Batman trilogy with a certain amount of trepidation. I think it’s fair to say I had doubts. I didn’t, for example, think it possible for Bane to outdo The Joker or even Ra’s Al Ghul in terms of villainy. This was a character that had been relegated to nothing more than mindless muscle in Schumacher’s Batman & Robin. Yet Nolan had taken The Joker and reinvented all that he was, so I held onto the glimmer of hope he would do the same for Bane. I also was sceptical about the casting of Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle. I simply could not believe the star of The Devil Wears Prada and Bride Wars could pull of such a role. So yes, it’s fair to say I was wary for The Dark Knight Rises.

I was not disappointed at all. As with each instalment before it, we are treated to a truly stellar cast. Christian Bale delivers his greatest performance as Bruce Wayne and The Batman, if not a career best. Gone is the headstrong, impulsive and determined crime fighter of the first two entries. In its place a haggard, gaunt shell of the man, a man drained both physically, mentally and spiritually. Gary Oldman’s Jim Gordon, now commissioner of Gotham’s Finest, is a world-weary, heavy hearted individual. He lives a forced, taxing existence, alone and with the knowledge that the city he is sworn to protect is now built upon a lie, a lie he created and a lie he must live with. Both deliver sensationally heartfelt and realistic performances as two men broken by situation and circumstance.

Anne Hathaway manages to defy all preconceptions as the Catwoman. I never thought it possible, especially in such a demanding role, but she manages to do so in dazzling style. The character requires her to be smart, sassy and sexy and she achieves all to perfection.
Against all my prior doubts, Tom Hardy manages to make Bane without a doubt one of the most memorable villains of all time, enough to rival that of Ledger’s Joker. He is not just a mass of sinewy muscle and brute strength. He is intelligent and also lithe. He is the essence of evil, a force of nature embodied in a human form. The voice was just brilliant, an excellent blend between theatricality and raw malevolence. He domineers, both physically and psychologically, and is both terrifying and believable as the terrorist mastermind.

The supporting cast are phenomenal once again. Michael Cane is magnificent as Alfred, forming the heart and backbone of the entire film. His performance is touching and genuinely moving throughout. Morgan Freeman is great as he reprises the role of Lucius Fox, bringing both intellect and humour to the film. The two newcomers to the franchise, in the form of good cop John Blake (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) and philanthropist Miranda Tate (Marion Cotillard) also deliver commendable performances.

With a running time of around 164 minutes, The Dark Knight Rises is nothing short of an epic. And yet it never seems dull, which is an impressive achievement by any right. The cinematography by Wally Pfister and the musical score by Hans Zimmer manage, somehow, to improve upon those in the previous two instalments. The action is spectacular, and the set pieces are remarkably well-crafted. The story is terrific, especially for a superhero film, and it twists and turns in ways you wouldn’t expect.

Batman Begins told the story of a man without identity, a man who masqueraded with masks and disguises, whilst trying desperately to find out who he is. The Dark Knight was about Batman, a man who still has to conceal his identity, both to the world and to himself. The Dark Knight Rises is about Bruce Wayne. He no longer has the costumes and gimmicks. He no longer has the cloaks and cowls and fake smiles to hide behind. He is at his most exposed, his most vulnerable and, through that, he finds out who he is. He reaches his catharsis, as does Alfred, Gordon, Kyle and Blake, and as does the audience.

VERDICT; Perfect in every department. Exceptional directing and cinematography, an intelligent script, breath-taking action and set pieces, a magnificent score, and astonishing acting from all the cast. The Dark Knight Rises manages to be both a character-driven drama and an action-packed epic. It is emotionally riveting and intensely compelling. It is, without a shadow of a doubt the greatest superhero film ever made. A truly, truly outstanding conclusion to an unparalleled trilogy. It is a masterpiece in every respect, and Christopher Nolan’s magnum opus. 5/5 or 10/10… Expand

I held back on seeing this movie in fears that the antagonist of this movie will fail to live up to the dazzling heights set by Heath Ledger's Joker in The Dark Knight. I'm glad to say I was mistaken. Masterfully crafted and intricately weaved with string of heroism, deep psychology, moral philosophy, the dichotomy of needed absolute good and the necessity of ultimate evil. All with excellent cinematography, nothing short than jaw-dropping special effects, exhilarating script, breathtaking soundtrack, and an outstanding cast -with a masterclass performance from Tom Hardy- The Dark Knight Rises is in my opinion, the greatest superhero movie of all time.

Fantastic film. Everything about the film is perfect. The cgi is amazing, acting is prefect, script is effective, plot is quick and exciting. To top the film off, the ending is also enjoyable rather than being boring and generic.

Christian Bale knocks it out of the park as a man with nothing to live for. He's broken by the past, but rises because it's his duty. The sequence of Wayne climbing from the pit is one for the ages. Tom Hardy puts the fear of God in you. Hardy is an overwhelming presence on the screen, embodying an embodiment of rage and pain. I highly recommend seeing the first 2 films in order to fully understand the emotional depth of this film (as well as plot points from the previous films). Yet, on its own, it’s still an epic piece of cinema. This film clocks in around 2 hours and 45 minutes. It’s the longest of the trilogy and not a second is wasted. All the technical brilliance and emotional core of the last films are turned up to eleven in this film.
The best scene in this film isn’t even an action sequence (although the action sequences are gritty as hell and the practical effects are Viagra for the eyes). It’s the scene with Bruce Wayne listening to Alfred’s story. It’s shown near the beginning of the film and is still sticking with me. Second best scene is the ending. It’s so damn perfect.
It also just occurred to me how wearing masks is a theme throughout the film. Didn’t realize that before.

I love Bane. He’s one of my favorite villains from any movie. The Joker still holds my number one spot simply because of his motivations and how his character is written. That being said, Tom Hardy’s performance as Bane is a close second. He reminds me of a corrupt politician. This might have been intentional but what he says and does in this film is sometimes true in some sick way.

Oh yeah, the scene where he craws out of the pit. Probably one of the best scenes from any film ever. He climbs without the rope and let’s fear back into his life. This is shown when the bats come flying out of the wall. It’s just an absolutely amazing scene that…GOD! I love it.

No real complaints, I would have liked to have seen him with a little more time in the Batsuit, but I know this story wasn’t just about him being Batman.
I apologize that this isn’t a well thought out review. Every single time I watch this trilogy, particularly this film, I’m left speechless. There’re maybe one or two little things that bother me, but the overall experience of watching this is something that cannot be matched.
I wish I saw these films in theater because if I had, my appreciation for them would have been different and much greater than what they are now.
Batman is my favorite superhero and these films have done the character justice.

The trilogy is over, but the legend lives on.… Expand

The story of the film is another thing that really stood out. Like the Dark Knight, this film also includes significant uses of symbolism and great dialogue. I also really liked how the story focuses on the theme of morality and how there is still good in human beings. As usual, Hans Zimmer’s music is also fantastic and so are the sound effects. Better than BB, worse than TDK. In my opinion its cast is arguably the best of the trilogy since I really enjoyed Gordon-Levitt, Hardy and Hathaway. Great villain and story but the ending was so predictable.

One of my favourite superhero films just above The Dark Knight. They be on the same playing field

It is 100% the brooding and epic finale to Chris Nolans Bat franchise. It is the seemingly visually compelling film in contrast to The Dark Knight 4 years earlier. It helps give us the secluded shutdown Bruce Wayne who has disappeared after Harvey Dents death. The new menacing villain, (bane) is a great addition to this film as he is played brilliantly by Tom Hardy, and completely outclasses batman in every way. Heath’s Joker will always be my Joker but Bane is the villian I remember the most from this Trilogy. I find myself quoting him The sewer scene and final battle were some of the most epic choreographed fights I've ever seen. Gary **** Oldman returns as Commissioner gordon and plays it fantastically, as we see he is very heart torn in the film as he has lived 8 years, on a lie about dents death and watched people believe Harvey was a great ' white knight '.

It’s **** good and it also shows why The DCEU failed cause DC is better at real emotional stories than a CGI **** of a mess

"A hero can be anyone." - Batman

The best superhero film that will ever be made, and the best film of The Dark Knight Trilogy. Despite a few plotholes, this film is perfect. Christian Bale puts in his best performance, as do Caine, Freeman and Oldman. This film has the best villain - Bane - and the best female lead. Anne Hathaway is miles better than Katie Holmes and Maggie Gyllenhaal, because the character of Rachel was weak and annoying. Selina Kyle, aka Catwoman (although cleverly the word 'Catwoman' is never said in the film) is badass and the perfect foil for Bruce/Batman. Marion Cotilliard puts in a good performance as Miranda Tate/Talia Al Ghul, but fortunately she isn't given too much screen time. Joseph Gordon-Levitt threw in a good turn as Robin John Blake.

Firstly, the plot is amazing. For me, it is far better than the plot of Batman Begins or The Dark Knight. It combines the traditional comic book film plot of Batman Begins with the more ideological and psychological themes of The Dark Knight. Bruce faces his toughest test. So tough, in fact, it requires him to fake his own death and leave Gotham. But the ending...oh Lord, it is soooooo good. Soooo clever. How did Chris Nolan come up with it? Pure genius, and that is why this film is one of the best ever.

The performances are perfect, and the weighting of screen time is perfectly balanced. A problem in previous Batman films (particularly Batman (1989) and The Dark Knight) is that The Joker was given more screen time than Batman, and this was detrimental to the film. Tom Hardy's performance as Bane is the standout performance of the film. He is absolutely magnificent. Bane is by far the best villain of The Dark Knight Trilogy, edging ahead of Ra's Al Ghul by a whisker. But where Nolan really succeeds is that he gets the balance of screen time perfect. Bane and Batman have an equal amount of screen time, and that's the way it should be. And it works perfectly.

The writing is superb. I can't think of a monologue I didn't like. Alfred's gut-wrenching revelation to Bruce about Rachel? Superb. Bane's speech in the football stadium? Brilliant. Bane's speech outside Blackgate prison? My favourite bit. Batman's 'a hero can be anyone' conversation with Gordon? Beautifully cryptic way of revealing his secret identity. It's all magic.

The many twists and turns were all unforeseen and hugely enjoyable, the action sequences were all excellent, particularly Bane and Batman's first fight in the sewer. "Peace has cost you your strength. Victory has defeated you." BOOM! Yeah, that is awesome! It had it's funny moments too. I laughed my ass off at Batman turning round to look at a police helicopter, and you knew, you JUST knew, that when he turned back Catwoman would be gone. "Oh. So that's what that feels like." HAHAHAHA! YEAH!

So, in conclusion, it is excellent throughout. There are countless excellent moments in this film. There isn't a part I didn't like. I liked Burn Gorman's small part, I liked Cilian Murphy's return, I simply loved everything about it. And will there ever be a better, more satisfying, more intriguing ending to a film? I don't think so. So watch this film...then, you have my permission to die… Expand
