I didn't think Marvel would come up with anything this spectacular after Endgame. The new Spider-Man may not surpass the Avengers in my opinion, but he's damn close on their heels. This was unreal. All three Spider-Men together. Seeing Tobey Maguire as Spider-Man on screen was a dream of mine and this movie made it come true. When he showed up, I thought I was gonna cry. Aside from him, I was very happy to see old familiar bad guys like Goblin and Octopus, who were absolutely excellent. I keep raving about how much I enjoyed the return of familiar faces from the Spider-Man trilogy, but I also have to praise the line of the current one or Tom Holland, which was also wonderful and had some really great moments. What I was very pleasantly surprised by, and actually can't believe, is how much they managed to cram it all into two and a half hours. It's already a longer film, but with a giant cast of characters. It's all very fast-paced here, so I wasn't bored at all and kept getting adrenaline shots. Wordless action. Totally unreal. Famous. I enjoyed it so much. As I mentioned the film is fast paced but despite that there is nothing rushed and I felt like every character had their own space. I don't understand how Marvel does it, but in short, they've proven that they can take bigger bites and do a great job of it, and I'm smiling. This movie had huge potential, no doubt. I was worried it wouldn't live up to it. I'm having a hard time judging it here. I'm slightly disappointed by some things and slightly pleased by others. Some things have been pleasantly surprising, others have been disappointing. In short, I could even imagine some moments that would have been perfect with all three Spider-Men, but unfortunately it didn't happen. On the contrary, there were other moments that I didn't expect and I was very pleasantly surprised and they were really cool. But I think it turned out great and with a few exceptions I'm absolutely satisfied. It's already a longer film and if all the potential was to be used, I really don't know how many hours the film would end up being. But a lot was accomplished in 2 and a half hours, for which I take my hat off. To sum it up. Spider-Man: No Way Home is, in my opinion, one of the best Marvel movies ever made, and for me, a great movie that I recommend. Expand

This isn't just fan service or nostalgia. All the characters, yes, all of them have their own moments, their own personality. All of the characters, grow, and precisely spider-man is totally more responsible now.
This is a debut to spider man, i just wish that stan lee was alive to watch this masterpiece.
I love this movie, so very much.
Hope you like it too

With a few exceptions, it's the highest score I can give you. It's true to some extent that as a person who likes artistic movies, I don't want to give a high score, but as a movie buff, I have to give the "Our Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man" who has been with us since the beginning of the 21st century. The movie was a praise for him, praise for him was sufficient and perfect. It was even like a love letter which is written with long contemplating from a fresh lover. I didn't like the story or hero's narrative much, but I can definitely understand that Spider-Man was completely absorbed by the MCU. Also, while watching IMAX, my eyes and ears had a very happy experience in a few months.

Thank you. I will be able to spend the end of this year with happy movies. Let's do well next year.
Take care,

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I didn’t think I would love this movie as much as I do. Probably my favourite Spiderman movie of all time. It looks great, it sounds great and it is amazing. My main issue is the whole reason for all the crazy multi-verse stuff happening. Now if you look past that you find that this is a real gem of a film.

Peter wants everyone to forget that he’s Spiderman, except for MJ, Ned, Aunt May and maybe one or two more. Dr Strange is given those exceptions midway during him casting the spell. Why not just hash it out beforehand instead of just jumping to ‘brainwashing the world’. That’s not like Dr. Strange’s character to do something like that. Peter’s character would be a little wishy washy like that since he has been so far in this MCU but the doctor is smart and has a thinking brain. He might even talk Peter out of it or make sure that they get the parameters of the spell correct before casting it. Ridiculous!

Everything else is brilliant. Bringing Daredevil into the universe I absolutely love it. Are we going to see a stand-alone movie or a series with him. I hope so. And if so I will get Disney Plus for that series or movie. Love that character. I nearly cried when I saw him.

But that wasn’t the only returning character. The three Spidermans were on screen together. It wasn’t just cameos, they were proper supporting characters in this movie. And the way they had Andrew Garfield’s Spiderman catch MJ felt like it was closing his arch. A second chance for redemption after he was unable to save Gwen. That was beautiful. Toby’s Spiderman showed why he’s the GOAT. He is wise and offered what useful information Tom Holland’s character needed to hear.

The way the movie ended I didn’t care for, not because it was bad no, it wasn’t the ending I wanted. And that venom teaser we got a few months back was a bluff it turns out. Eight I think is fair. It is leaning on the nostalgia factor a little bit but it works. Really cool they got the cast that they got.

All of the actors did a great job.

I feel that Marvel movies would be even stronger if they emphasised the plot over making a big deal of characters from other movies crossing over alone. They do that in every movie now, it's not mind blowing.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. With so many high expectations being placed on this film, my first thought was that there was no way to avoid any disappointment. Leading up to the date, I constantly had to remind myself that if it didn't live up to my expectations, that didn't make it a bad movie. When talking about expectations, I'm sure many of you can infer that I am talking about the alleged cameos of Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire. Being that the Spider-man trilogy, and 'The Amazing Spider-man' movies are my favorite superhero movies of all time, and are held so close to my heart, I don't think I could've been more excited to see if the old Peter Parkers would come to life on screen once again, presumably for a last time... Thirty minutes into movie, then an hour, and still no Garfield or Maguire. Once again, I reminded myself that there was a large possibility that they wouldn't be in it. And that's what's great about the film. Even though the rumors were loud and hard to avoid, somehow I still didn't expect it.

Seeing Ned open the first portal, though, and a Spider-man at the end of a dark alley took my breath away. As the figure walked closer I turned to the person sitting next to me, making eye contact-- unspoken knowledge of what could be happening. As it step through the portal, the theatre was already getting antsy. And as he took off his mask, revealing it truly was Andrew Garfield, not some decoy, the audience erupted into cheers and applause. This specific moment is one why this movie is so good. It connected the audience in a way that I've never happen in a movie theater-- let alone with a movie-- before.

To be honest, the only critique I have of this film is that it's clear that the idea of bringing back the prior actors who held the title of "Spider-man," and their villains came before the idea of making a third movie to Holland's trilogy. Possibly more avid Marvel or film fans would have an issue with this, but it's one that can be brushed off easily, just by the fact that they were able to execute that intertwining of three different universes so seamlessly. It was seamless, but also intentional. Writers knew what they were doing, building on to the characters by filling in the audience in about what has happened to them since we last so them on screen, and referencing things that we know about them already. One of my favorite details was that when Tom couldn't save MJ from falling, Andrew was at the ready, scooping her up and saving her. You can see in his eyes the way that he wishes he could've done that for Gwen. It felt like he could finally get closure, which was very refreshing. It was also so engaging seeing the way that the three Spider-men explored their counterparts, learning things about each other that made the audience roar with laugher every single time-- it's the most I've laughed in a movie that was not a comedy. This was great because there has always been something about Holland's Spider-man that's felt lacking, at least for me. Because he was apart of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it's like he was less of who Spider-man is supposed to be. With him able to bounce off of the two actors who have defined Peter Parker and Spidey for viewers, it's highlighted the strengths and Spider-man qualities of Holland's version. And in the end, when he makes his own suit, moves into a small apartment away from billionaire mentors, follows up on neighborly spider-man-like crime, and finally lets his loved ones go to keep them safe-- it's like we've come full circle. It's just the perfect way to end a series. I've wracked my brain thinking about any comment I could make to make this movie not a 10, but I honestly can't think of a single one. So glad they didn't disappoint. (P.S. Andrew Garfield definitely deserves some more recognition for all the lying he had to do prior to the release... hilarious.)

That being said, I am not that. I have been a Spider-Man fan my whole life and I’d compare this movie to Avengers Endgame, in the way that it is a event film that is greatly improved by the consumer seeing all the previous films. Where Endgame fails, I would say is not telling the most interesting of stories, but instead relying on it being a lot of fan service, though it is well done. No way home does have its share of fan service but, at its core it tells a classic Spider-Man story. With lots of emotional moments, that are enhanced by the amazing score. Great villains, and real stakes. Often time with the MCU movies they will cut short emotional scenes to tell a joke. That’s not the case here, when the emotional moments take place they let them sit. I would say I this is a must see movie for anyone who cares about the Spider-Man character. I am biased, as I have stated I’ve been watching these movies since I was a kid. So for me this is probably my favorite MCU film. I’m not blind to the problems. The set up for the whole film is quite weak, and the writing in the first half of the movie is not on par with the second. For me and my experience with the film, I can excuse the mistakes, but I’d understand if others can’t. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Honestly the whole argument people have against this film that it is way to reliant on fan service is such a bad argument. First off the fan service is done very well as the 3 Spider-Men and the villains each get there moment to shine. Especially Willem Dafoe who has god tier acting. But the themes are very well presented and Tom Holland’s character gets a lot of depth in this movie. Not sure the 1st act of the movie is kinda flawed as it could have been better but it is not terrible. Also the plot is good and I understand as to why Tom Holland’s Spider-Man wants to save the villains. As he just feels guilty and he doesn’t want these villains to be killed and Norman Osborn really did a good job as to why he Parker should have maybe let them free but with consequences. Anyways really great film go check it out if you love Spider-Man. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The hype is worth it, I've been a Marvel fan for years now, and especially spider-man since I was a kid, I was so happy I could have watched it in premiere, so that's my review & critic: You can skip this part to the end: Spoiler Alert: So many easter eggs from many many universes, Let's be clear on something that Tom Holland is the best spider-man ever made, tom = Andrew + Tobey, doctor strange was fantastic and Ned too, I cried so hard when May died, the movie is so sad, No one on earth knows Peter Parker now, not even his friends, and he didn't tell them because they were happy without him, I liked venom but I want it to be in the movie, The end credit scene, Doctor Strange 2, IT'S EPIC! Loved that daredevil was here even if he was for a minute, so much to talk about. Loved when they hugged each other, and "With great power come great responsibilities", when they re-do some scene of old spider-man it was good, It was beautiful to watch but I would like more colors in the fight in the end. Happy doesn't know him anymore, it is the end of the friendship with ned, the atmosphere in the cinema was insane. He needs to tell everyone cause at this point he's literally lost every single person in his life, he helped save half the universe, he was the reason tony wanted to discover time travel and now no one will know. I wonder what he's gonna do with the avengers since they won't know him either. It was a fan service and they nailed it.

I won't give away any spoilers, but it's a fantastic movie that's made ten times better if you're a long-time fan who's seen theNo Way Home is everything any real fan of Marvel or Spider-Man could ever have hoped for, and a little more. I won't give away any spoilers, but it's a fantastic movie that's made ten times better if you're a long-time fan who's seen the previous iterations in the franchise. It caters to casual fans but multiplies the dramatic (and comedic) payoffs for older fans and is enough to reduce full-grown adults to puddles of teary-eyed, ear-to-ear grinning satisfaction. All performances are top-notch, and Tom Holland delivers his best performance ever, both as Spider-Man and Peter Parker. All the other cast members are equally superb, and it's obvious that they all knew they were taking part in something extraordinary. Their love for the Spidey Mythos shines through every second of their screentime. In spades.

As for the surprises, well, let's just say...the movie does THAT. While you're getting over the fact that it actually did THAT, it then goes along and does THAT as well. While you're recovering from beautiful and understated fan service (there's nothing wrong with fan service when understated and tastefully done and especially when it's done to serve the story, and not at its expense - a lesson that critics should learn when they're not too busy trying to sound above it all), it then goes along and also does THAT, to devastatingly emotional effect. No Way Home is a master class in entertainment, and a masterclass in dramatic storytelling, and nay-sayers like Scott, Cameron, and Scorcese need to wake up and pull their heads out of their collective butts because there's nothing to say you can't be fun, funny, and unyielding in gravitas all within the same movie. If you could distill all your love for Spider-Man into a movie, this would be the result. This is the Peter Parker we've all grown up with, and he's spectacular, and he's still just a young man who's trying his hardest to do the right thing. This is the Spider-Man who never quits. This is the Spider-Man who, despite all odds, could grow into the hero who beat FireLord while the Avengers were gone, and could survive Kraven's Last Hunt. This is the Spider-Man that turns adults to Jello-O while they remember holding a flashlight under the sheets after their parents had sent them to bed on a school night. Incredibly enough for a two and a half hour movie, not a single scene drags. It's tempered to perfection. The action scenes are fast but never confusing, and the dramatic scenes are heavy without feeling slow. It trusts the audience with its dramatic beats and doesn't resort to melodrama.

The only slightly weak point is some undercooked CGI. Then again, Marvel Studios always seems to produce better CGI than the Sony Pictures installments. But that's a minor complaint in a movie that works so hard to be the absolute best it can be.

I've already seen it twice, and it was an even more emotional experience the second time around.

Avoid spoilers! You'll just be ruining a stellar experience for yourself.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Even though everyone seems to absolutely love the earlier Spider-man movies with Maguire and Garfield for me each one of them was a pain to watch through. On the contrast I have absolutely loved every appearance of Tom Holland as a Spider-man because it has been such a different take to this character that has been done so many times. So I had strong doubts about if I could enjoy a movie that based on the trailers gathered all the villains from previous movies.

I was positively surprised. All the characters from the previous Spider-man movie iterations that I had trouble looking at in their original movies were actually enjoyable in this context. The story was easy to follow for me and I found myself enjoying pretty much the whole movie. Action scenes were at times just a big blur with so much happening but they were enjoyable.

Next to the spoilery stuff so if you accidentally expanded this turn back now.

I understand that for many Tom Holland Spider-man is just "Iron Man Jr." and it cheapens the character but personally that is what I love about the MCU iteration. So to me personally the ending was a slight disappointment because it takes the character to a direction I don't personally enjoy with setting and visual design. I hope there are more movies with MCU Spider-man in the future and he can get back some of the things that were lost in the ending of this one.

Mid-credits scene had me scared if the character would come to MCU because it has been an absolute pain to watch them in their own movies but luckily that character was handled perfectly.

But yeah, all in all I enjoyed the movie very much and I'm really looking forward see more any kind of Spider-man content in the future. Slight minuses for hard readability and taking the story to a direction I don't prefer.

Peter Parker- Peter Parker, giving it all his heart, and everything else... - The first thing that comes to my mind is how prodigious the script writing is, masterfully layered, epic on countless levels, and moreover deeply emotional... Peter Parker faces extremely complex choices, going through a big number of ordeals, putting his heart in the front-line all the time... And yeah, it shows you how constantly trying to right every wrong is more than a monumental task for one sole being. Luckily, he has several wonderful supports -all along this chaotic journey- who give their heart to fill these roles in the best possible way, and that, in itself is very touching... But in this movie, the stakes resonate on a wide number of aspects, it isn't at all just about "good & bad", it's a human story (which makes it the magnificent movie that it is) and the hero at the core of all these meanders has to fully embrace his responsibilities... A true hero's journey sadly is punctuated with tragic steps that tell you how right is what you're doing. And indeed, in the end, it all takes you back to this existential question, and its heartbreaking answer : "What did it cost ?" ... "Everything."

Now on a lighter note, the easter eggs and winks to the audience, there are tons of thems and each one of them smoothly flows in the most logical & delightful way with the story (the audience cheers and applaudes on multiple occasions) ; either rewarding you in the process or planting seeds for obvious future storylines to come and develop further down the line... And again, most of these elements have an emotional impact to them, or lead you to some intriguing (and interesting) questions...
What's for sure is that you go through a lot heart-grabbing moments, all along this movie... It has a lot of epicness to it, of course ; but what leaves you in awe is that the emotional aspect of all these scenes is what really leaves you blissfully happy. And when the movie's over one and for all, you can already enjoy all these clever (but numerous) little seeds, eventually evolving in new mind-blowing directions in the future...

How not to applaude this movie, from its great build-up (every character has at least one thing that makes you attached to him and his eventual outcome), the way it's navigates so well between epic sequences and dialogues that add ever more to the moving aspect of it all ; leading you to this legendary last third of the movie, in which anything is a real blast (PS : the two end credits are really worth waiting for).

I'll finish with the quality of the whole piece, from the nicely mastered staging, the pace (2h30 that flow like 1h), the obvious dedication (and passion) that's infused in every scene by the actors (but also by all the team behind the movie ; you can feel it all along) and the dialogs that are a delight... The special effects are once again amazing... The score offers several memorable pieces...
Not just one of the greatest superhero movies ever, but an unforgettable movie, period.

After that shocking cliffhanger from the previous movie and the fact that villains from both Sam Raimi's Spiderman trilogy and The Amazing Spider-Man were returning for multiverse madness, the hype went through the roof. However, does it live up to the hype or collapse under its weight?

Let's get the obvious praises out the way first. The action sequences are all still very exciting and enjoyable to watch. The fight scenes utilize Spidey's and the villains' ability very well leading to a very fun choreography. Although, my favourite fight happens to just be a brutal fistfight in an apartment that illustrate the new tonal direction of the film. Michael Giacchino returns to score the film and his music score is better than ever. The first half of the film has a similar music score to that of Spider-Man Homecoming and Far From Home. The second half is where Michael's music score starts feeling more sombre and heroic, which is very effective and fitting for the story. He also includes some subtle music soundtrack from Sam Raimi's Spider-Man and The Amazing Spider-Man that is very fitting. One complaint that I had about director Jon Watts is that his Spider-Man movies are not visually interesting. This isn't the case in No Way Home with there being good cinematography and memorable shots. There is a scene with Strange and magic that looks visually pleasing and a scene with Peter in the rain that looks stunning. Tom Holland is still phenomenal as Spider-Man with him delivering a great performance. His chemistry with both Jacob Batalon and Zendaya who play Peter's best friend and girlfriend respectively is a wonderful sight. Seeing the three of them work together like the best of friends feels very believable. Benedict Cumberbatch also returns as Doctor Strange and he gives a very different side to him that we haven't seen before. He gives a more playful yet lecturing father-like side to him that bounces well off Spider-Man. Alfred Molina returns after 17 years as Doctor Octopus from Spider-Man 2 and he is still able to embody the character perfectly like he never left. The best performance in this film comes from Willem Dafoe who returns as the Green Goblin From Spider-Man (2002). Willem is somehow able to give a performance that is even more frightening and unhinged than his performance in 2002 Spider-Man. Jamie Foxx also returns as Electro and thankfully his performance is no longer as cringy or silly as it was in The Amazing Spider-Man 2. This time he does feel like a villain to be reckoned with.

The story is also a huge step up from the previous MCU Spider-Man movies as it feels like there is more emotional weight this time. One issue with MCU Spider-Man over previous Spider-Man movies is that Peter never has anything personal at stake. This isn't the case in No Way Home where it feels like he is dealing with a lot and even downright suffering for it. He has a proper story arc that is incredibly satisfying. One worry I had was the fact there were 5 villains in this movie. Surprisingly, the movie does a good job of juggling them all. Everyone has a fair amount of dialogue that illustrates their personality while clearly stating their motives for them being against Spider-Man. Even if their motive is just wanting to turn a city into lizards. Unfortunately, Lizard and Sandman don't get as much focus compared to the other three villains. Both do feel like they are just there to have a big CGI battle at the end. I also find Sandman's motive clashes with the other villains which makes it weird for him to be teaming up with them at all. No Way Home also still seems to have a problem that a lot of MCU movies have which is doing quips and jokes without letting the serious nature of the moment linger longer. The film also has some weird editing where it feels like they don't linger on an actor's facial performance for long enough and just cut away to someone else's reaction instead. There are also a fair amount of scenes done with close up camera shots instead of a long or wide shot even though it would be better. Both of these are very noticeable in the final act, most likely due to the studio filming these actors in different places. Overall, Spider-Man No Way Home might be the best MCU Spider-Man film so far. While it is certainly filled to the brim with fan service, the film is still able to maintain a compelling story while making the fan service complement the story. This film should've been a bloated mess and it should have crushed under its weight, but it didn't. While the film certainly has flaws (and some plot holes and plot conveniences), it never damages the experience. No Way Home is an excellent movie that lives up to the hype. This is how you do fan service properly!

I have not been able to understand until today why so many bad things can have good grades by these said whose evaluators and why so many good things do not receive the mair affection and dedication in correct judgments! Just look at most of the reviews of the people who have been looking at the movie in theaters! Honestly I do not know what happens here at Metacritc but the film is very good, beautiful, well done and deserves rather high notes ... Expand

So good, definitely my favourite marvel film. It had a fantastic blend of comedy, heart and action and all I could think about after watching it was that I needed to see it again.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It was fine. The story was forgettable and the ending leaves you asking a lot of questions about glaring plot holes. Similarly to Infinity War, they leave an ending that feels like it has massive implications, but deep down you know they will fix everything with no consequences. Seeing the three different Spider-Men interact was great fun, and the banter between the three of them is enough to make anyone smile at the very least. Willem Dafoe is still a chilling villain, and Jamie Foxx plays a much better Electro character than he did in Amazing Spider-Man 2. Overall a very fun movie, but nothing more. Expand

This new approach to the Marvel universe, the world of parallel universes, which began with the show "What if," will, in my opinion, achieve a qualitative leap and great success.
The movie is full of comedy, suspense, and excitement, the amount of feelings and passion is great to the point where sometimes you get feelings of joy and other times you see that intense sadness, great sadness to the point where you feel like crying, the amount of tragedies that Spider-Man went through from losing loved ones to friends, the idea of collecting the three heroes who played this character is very wonderful and thought the universes, The parallel provided justification for changing the actors who had previously played this character, as well as saving the evil.

The movie is emotionally awesome...some scenes throbbed my heart...the Marvel mark is purely present in it however it lacks great action scenes which we obviously expect but the VFX and bgm are perfect..just don't over expect, rest you can enjoy.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Very high quality of acting and the story was very excited. Returning of the Past Spidermans are fantastic and the villans were upgraded than the previous movies that the characters were appeared especially green goblin and Electro. Death of the Aunt May was made tragedic and last of the movie made everyone crying. .As my review, this is the best movie I have ever seen. Expand
