My only (logical) gripe: "Make the world forget I am Spider-Man"

...and the world forgets that Peter Parker also exists. Despite any academic history. Despite any employment history.

The premise of disassociation twixt Spider-Man and Peter Parker failed completely and ruined the logic of the entire plot.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

Además del fan service, Spider-Man: No Way Home entrega una narrativa convincente y emocionalmente impactante.

The soap "The Bold and the Beautiful" has been airing since March 23, 1987 and in the States has exceeded 8,700 episodes: a mechanism tending to infinity, leaving the basic plot unchanged by applying insignificant variations or any (un)imaginable permutation. Marvel could have been content with similar stratagems as well, instead it has relaunched with horrifying new narrative expedients such as reboots and the multiverse to obtain a "death-free" outcome ever closer to self-cloning and to the definitive virtual defeat of Time. It makes Brooke and Ridge regret.
Ps: for the cinecomics please leave the "Talking Heads" of "I Zimbra" (1979) in peace. Thanks a lot.

Holy **** I watched this on the 17th, I really REALLY want to have a rewatch but I don't want to use up all of my money on this.
This was such a great experience, the first couple of scenes go by really quickly, which really helps with how much content this movie has in it. Really succeeded in what some other movies failed in having this much content without it feeling super cramped. All the villains are great, except for two and if you go see it, you'll know why. All of my problems are: a couple of lines of humor didn't stick with me, but that isn't really a big deal since there was a lot of other jokes I did find funny.
in one shot, doctor strange REALLY looks like he is on a greenscreen, which he absolutely is but it shouldn't be this noticable, it is a little bit like that one scene from black widow, where yelena drops off of the spaceship or whatever it was.
also, in one shot, electro's lightning looks super strange, and what makes it even weirder is that it looks really great in other shots.

Overall an amazing movie, possibly a little bit too much fanservice but i didn't think it distracted from the whole experience.

Since when did we become intellectually complicated for these films? Yes, the film has fan-service, maybe too much. But when it's done right, why not do it? A sensation, in a few years, this film could also become a cult.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This movie is, even if it sounds crazy, the worst Marvel movie to me. I think that all projects have something to offer, maybe it’s the humor, the visuals, it’s characters, dynamics, action sequences, can be anything, but with this film it feels almost empty. It has very little things to offer, apart from the always great Zendaya, and sometimes the humor that characterizes the new spider man movies. The rest, feels very unauthentic and it sometimes even if the lead is almost in screen all the time, he is actually never the real star, it’s not his film. His journey, which I found very very interesting, especially seeing him with Tony in Civil War-Homecoming-Infinity War and later without him in Far From Home, was shaped and destroyed only so the movie could focus on the co-stars, rather than him. The villains plot was very exhausting, Green Goblin was great (maybe) back in the 2000’s, but right now, feels overused and kinda boring. His character seems overwhelmed by the other, at least on my opinion. Doctor Octopus and Electro shine, as Sandman and Lizard get forgotten in a corner, take on count that Lizard is my favorite antagonist from the SM franchise. When MJ falls and Peter’s aunt dies feels so fake, like, it’s not emotive at all, and should be. Strange was also super wasted here, his character had a big potential, but was used only when it matters, then gets trapped and magically returns just when they need him. It’s not the worst movie I’ve ever seen, but clearly a disappointment. Wish we can forget this ever happened and never mention it again. Expand

I am a fan of Spider-Man and don't mind a few callbacks to other films or content fans enjoy. But this movie has gone too far. The middle of this movie really drags with the seemingly endless conversations. The beginning of this movie, that's shown in the trailers, is laughably bad. I just couldn't get into it and their excuse to get these characters in the same universe didn't work for me. That's about all I can say without giving away spoilers. I'm not sure how this movie is getting good reviews. It seems people have lower expectations for movies today. As long as there is something to laugh at and things go boom people will give it good reviews. Expand

Also, this movie is the darkest in the new trilogy, even the ending is kinda sad, and although it is sad I wasn't expecting for that, so the break in expectation was really good and make the plot interesting the whole movie.

It is also worth to mention how well the movie managed to get together references from all Spider-Man multiverses including the new MCU (Avengers, Dr. Stranger)

After the Endgame, I thought it would be impossible to have another superhero/marvel movie as close to as epic as that. Especially this soon. Endgame was a decade in the making.

But with no way home, Marvel once again showed that it has left nearly every other franchise in cinema history in the dust, taking it's cinematic universe to bold and daring new levels.

This movie was so ambitious, brought so many different characters into play, tied so many stories together, maintained comedic relief, had awesome action, a mostly sensible story, and paid homage to previous marvel movies, it smashed all expectations. Incredible movie, and a satisfying watch.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. As a huge Andrew Garfield Spidey fan (he's easily my favorite, with his 2 movies being much superior in my opinion to any that have followed), I was looking forward to this movie. Specifically because I had no interest in the Tom Holland Spidey movies after watching the first one and it being quite boring and uninteresting. However, this movie is just middling. Theres nothing really great about it. Seeing Andrew and Toby are the only good parts. Andrew getting a redemption arc by saving MJ is probably the best thing about it. However, as a movie, it falls into the same issue most MCU type movies do, its rather predictable and boring. Expand

Oh boy. OH BOY! I was eagerly waiting to review this one. My favorite movie of 2021. And I'm not ashamed to admit that. Is this objectively the best movie of that year? Naah. Not when this is the year that also gave us Dune.

But then again,
Oh boy. OH BOY! I was eagerly waiting to review this one. My favorite movie of 2021. And I'm not ashamed to admit that. Is this objectively the best movie of that year? Naah. Not when this is the year that also gave us Dune.

But then again, I think superhero movies in general have become such a broad concept to adapt that I don't think they should be judged alongside "real" movies. They are in a space of their own. The only superhero movies of the recent years that I would call real cinematic masterpieces are ironically both DC movies, The Batman and The Suicide Squad. There, triggered all the obsessive MCU stans, mission of the day accomplished.

And yet, I cannot help but love this movie so much. What a time to be a Spider-Man fan. I was initially scared, I thought that this could potentially fail exactly like "Spider-Man 3" and my all-time nemesis "The Amazing Spider-Man 2". A movie with five villains, three Spideys AND Doctor Strange on top. No way this was gonna be a good third entry in the Homecoming trilogy. It sounded messy and desperate. And I have never been so glad to have been proven wrong.

"Spider-Man: No Way Home" is a movie that made me cry all of the five times I've seen it now. There's so much passion and respect for three generations of Spider-Man here, I really couldn't have asked for more. Just thinking about it fills me with joy and that really is the magic o
that cinema can provide. Ah, the magic times of last year, where WE weren't burdened with the cesspool of human misery called She-Hulk. A time where I was actually excited for new output of the MCU. There, bashed She-Hulk again, I'm on a roll today!

Okay, enough chitchat, let's dig into the movie. Is it completely bonkers with a janky-ass plot that marries magic, advanced tech, multiple universes and webslinging science nerds? Yup. And that's what makes it good. But what really makes it GREAT is the emotional weight of it all. This is one of the most gripping Spider-Man narratives since Spider-Man 2 and Into The Spider-Verse (another cinematic masterpiece, almost forgot). Every actor is bringing their A game into this. Tom Holland as Peter Parker aka Spider-Man? Great of course, best he's even been. Zendaya and Jacob Batalon as MJ and Ned? Charming as always. Marissa Tomei as May Parker? Oh man. THAT scene. Still hurts. J.K. Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson? Not quite SM2-levels of awesome, but he's still good. And also big, big win for including Charlie Cox as Matt Murdock aka a really good lawyer. And what a rogue gallery this time, damn. Alfred Molina is still great as Doc Ock. Jamie Foxx as Electro is FINALLY put to good use, thank the heavens. And can we please talk about Willem Dafoe as Green Goblin??? Best MCU villain ever. Don't @ me. He was already great in Spider-Man 1 Back in the day, but they upgraded him so hard. Beautiful, nothing to add.

And yeah, let's talk about the elephant in the room: Andrew Garfield and Tobey Macguire are Back as their Spider-Man versions. First, lemme just say: F*CK YEAH ANDREW GARFIELD IS BACK OMFG YAAAAAAS!!! Second: Oh cool, Tobey Macguire is back. I mean, okay, I was never the biggest fan of his take on the character, but the Raimi trilogy made all of this possible in the first place, that's why it'll always have my respect. And he's just such a nice dude. Seeing both of these icons back on screen gave me a serotonin boost for an entire decade. And they didn't just bring them back for fanservice, their characters we're developed in an organic way, giving them more years of experience and fitting troubles, because Spider-Men (and also regular ol' humans) are constantly trying to do better. And I love the impact they had in MCU Spider-Man, being the mentor figures he deserved. Tobey as the experienced youth pastor Spidey and Andrew as the middle-child Spidey with way too much crackhead energy. Every moment with the three Peters on screen was pure perfection. "Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker" wishes it was this movie. Everything came full circle here and it was amazing.

The CGI was a little bit spotty, but that's really all of the more major complaints I can think of. Soundtrack is just honey for the soul...and ears, of course. Those old themes back again and the new MCU Spider-Man theme with the added chorus and extra oomph, just mesmerizing.

Call me a fanboy, call me a shill, call me a consoomer, don't care. Not when this movie made me so happy when I honestly didn't expect it would. Everyone who says this movie only lives through nostalgia and fanservice has never been a true fan of what Spider-Man is and represents and I will not discuss that.

Alright, that's a wrap on the Homecoming trilogy. One of my favorite Marvel trilogies ever, next to Guardians of the Galaxy and...well, the Raimi trilogy. Can't wait for the future of this character in the MCU, hopefully he teams up with Daredevil. But let's not get ahead of ourselves. Until then...

See you, Spider cowboy.

As for the film, it starts off well and ends poorly. The actors are partly known from the older films and fill in their well-known roles, but that's about it! The story is naively stupid full of logical errors and predictable. The CGI's are very good, otherwise the film doesn't offer any depth, hardly builds up any tension and really doesn't offer anything new. Sometimes the actors are listless and probably ask themselves, what am I doing here, why all this, oh I forgot, has to earn money, the fees are really attractive! Damned! Since Stan Lee died, hasn't anyone been able to make a good Marvel movie! Why does everything have to be "child-friendly" (nothing against children's films!)?! Why is the NORMAL viewer held here for stupid! But I'm probably upset for nothing, it's just a movie, isn't it? One point for the CGI's and one point for the old Spiderman actors. Expand

I honestly can't believe kids like this. For me it's the overall approach to these films now and it's just too goofy and silly for me. I just hate Marvel films because of their f****** dumb comedy and silly dialogue and scenes. I can't take it seriously and it's just not good. If I can't sit through one of these films which is becoming more of the norm now it means your product is awful. I mean I'm totally done I can't watch this garbage, am I the only one? Everyone's been trying to teach the whining little spiderbaby lessons, but he just doesn't grow up. No "With great power there must also come great responsibility" motto, no true inner motivation for heroism, therefore no more actual core of spirit of this character.
And most importantly, he doesn't even have enough power to solve his own problem by himself. Is that what a superhero supposed to be like? The world has already given him enough time to grow up, come on.

All the Spiderman actors did a great job, glad to see Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield back in action. I was a bit disappointed with the 1st two movies but I'm glad this 3rd entry didn't kill the Spiderman characters with bad writing. MJ still needs work on her acting, she doesn't know how to project proper emotions. She's feel bland in her acting. Tom Holland on the other hand did a way better job than the 1st two movies. But the movie is really enjoyable. Great action. I'm giving this one a 9/10. Can't wait for the next entry. Expand

I was particularly pleased to see Doctor Strange interact with Peter Parker - the attitude the older characters have towards our young adolescent spider based superhero I did find amusing. I like that these films don't entirely take themselves too seriously, although some people may disagree but I feel that's the case, with some of the tongue in cheek comments between different characters in the script.

Obviously if your a big fan of Marvel films in general then this will mean more as you'll know the back stories to at least some (if not all) of the numerous Marvel characters present in this film but even if not, its still a pretty fast paced and entertaining film regardless. There's plenty of CGI and its quite tense throughout. This is a very entertaining, amusing and sometimes quite gripping film that I enjoyed and I would happily recommend to others, yes. If your not a fan of Marvel films in general though, this may not be for you but most people should enjoy it, if only in part. I give this a solid 8/10.

Why didn't the MJ activate the cube when the news showed the collapsed building? Why didn't Peter contact MJ and tell her to press the button when things didn't go according to plan?
To run out of the laboratory to the Statue of Liberty, to the height where the other villains are... Brilliant.

They come back and Marvel doesn't do anything about it. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It was a well-made movie. The story was perfect, even tho the movie was stuffed with villains they did a good job in ensuring they did not repeat mistakes from spider man 3, which was great. And some of the villains like the green goblins turning their back on Peter seemed to like how they would and was well written. All the character arcs were well written and well made. The only con could be that the motives of the villains could be a bit better and the CGI. Nonetheless an amazing movie. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. There was a lot of hype behind this movie. What was the expression used in the film, "expect to be disappointed and you won't'? That would sum up my feelings about this cinematic experience. There was too much of that old cliche dialog "no, no, no, no" and the same cliche dialog structure in many of Marvel or should I say Disney movies today. The plot was corny, save everybody, win the day and the consequence wasn't enough to justify it all. Without going into spoilers, Doctor Strange's character was way too dumb and was just used to get the plot going.

Not to be cynical but it seems the whole reason this film was rated as high as it was is because of the three Peter Parkers all in the same movie. Maybe I'm a bit biased as I didn't like all but 2 of the spiderman movies thus far.

That's not all TBH the film hade some Plot convenience like Ned becoming a master at making portol's despit us knowing it take year's to master making portol like dr strange(I din't wacth any of the dr.strange's film at all).
But at the end of the day Spider-Man:No Way Home is a great film and good out way the bad especilly the death of aunt may and the final battle.

I loved tom's spider sense scene that was probably the peak of john watt's career. however, as Andrew and Tobey entered the quality dropped. its like they say "oh we have Andrew and Tobey now, we know we are going to sell why bother to actually write good stuff?" Andrew and Tobey's spidermen made 0 progress in terms of character arc in this time gap they had, they didn't even change suits. so spiderman had the same outfit as 2007? Tobey's peter didn't sound like toby's peter at all. just some random guy that Tobey plays. the plot wasn't really headed towards anything it was just driven by nostalgia sadly. and the CGI was so rushed they actually fixed it WHILE THE MOVIE WAS IN THEATRES! this is not professional work. im happy I got my childhood back but I wished the idea was executed better. The nostalgia and emotions, as well as the excitement is all very well done and all earned. The fan service serves a point in the story. as it gives the main character a clear arc where he has great character development. The plot was good, but I do agree the plot can indeed use some work. But the villain's especially Norman Osborn and Otto Octavius were amazing. Dafoe really brings the villain and puts Tom Holland on his toes and really makes him suffer which is what Green Goblin is. The acting from everyone is pretty solid, and the CGI and action scenes (although bad at times) was pretty good and some of Disney's best work. Plot 9

After Disney/Marvel Studios and Sony renegotiated with each other to continue sharing the movie rights to Spider-Man, the twenty-seventh instalment of Marvel Cinematic Universe continues the adventures of Spider-Man as he faces new and familiar enemies that are not from this universe but from another universe which is part of the Multiverse.

Immediately after the previous movie, J. Jonah Jameson of TheDailyBugle.net exposed Spider-Man’s real identity as Peter Parker (Holland) to the public by showing a doctored video footage which allegedly showing him murdered Mysterio. Peter along with his friends and family are wanted for questioning by the authorities about their connection to Spider-Man’s vigilante activities. Despite with the help of a lawyer named Matt Murdock to acquit Peter from criminal charges, public reactions toward him and Spider-Man continue to remain divisive.

As a result of the controversy, Peter along with Michelle-Jones Watson (Zendaya) and Ned Leeds’ applications to Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) are rejected. Unable to see his friends and family suffer, Peter goes to see Dr. Stephen Strange (Cumberbatch) for help which the latter has a spell to make everyone to forget that Peter is Spider-Man including himself, Michelle, Ned and Aunt May. Unfortunately, Peter keeps making request to let his friends and family to retain their memories while Dr. Strange is performing the spell which corrupt the spell but he manage to contain it.

As Peter goes to meet an administer of MIT to reconsider Michelle and Neds’ application, Peter is attack by Otto Octavius/Dr. Octopus and Norman Osborn/Green Goblin. Dr. Strange manage to capture Dr. Octopus and Curt Connors/Lizard except Green Goblin. He explains that the corrupted spell brings people from other universes who knows Spider-Man’s real identity. Spider-Man now have to find the other villains so that Dr. Strange can perform another spell to send them back to their respective universe.

If you have watched 2018’s Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse, this movie is the live-action version of that movie. What makes it different from the animated movie is the movie used the characters which was already established from Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man trilogy and Marc Webb’s The Amazing Spider-Man duology. I seriously do not expect Marvel Studios and Sony were able to pull this off. It was really awesome to use those characters for the Multiverse storyline without creating a new one. Never in my lifetime I have seen this in a movie.

In addition to using those characters, both studios were able to bring the original actors to reprised their respective roles. Bringing them back for their roles really creates some nostalgic moments for those who have watched previous Spider-Man movies including myself. They even brought back two secret characters which they are played by the same actors. I will not reveal who are they because of heavy spoilers but I get the feeling you already know who it is. For their performance, they really gave their best shot and they still got it. That includes the two secret characters which both of them have not lost their touch.

Tom Holland really gave his best performance in this movie even better than the previous instalments. Not only his acting skills became better and more improvement, he played the character very well and he has the best character development. None of his spotlight was taken by other cast members. Speaking of cast members, they have also gave their best performances.

The story of this movie is very creative. For the first time ever or at least in the movie, the storyline is focused on Spider-Man’s real identity being exposed to the public and how the character has to deal with the situation. This is something that have not done in the previous Spider-Man movies. The movie is really heartwarming and dark at the same time. Despite the large cast, everyone got their chance to shine in the movie without overtaking the spotlight from one to another. Spider-Man is written to be a hero in his own way without tied up to being Iron Man or other heroes’ sidekick. Even the villains in this movies are not related to Iron Man like the previous two movies which is good for a change. The movie did a great job in tying up loose ends to the previous Spider-Man movies after they were cancelled by Sony.

The few bad things about this movie is none of the characters from Spider-Man: Homecoming and Far From Home are in this movie to tie up any loose ends which resulted into an aborted arc. Among the villains in this movie, Lizard have the least focus out of all the villains. Besides that, you really need to watch all the previous Spider-Man movies to fully enjoy this one.

Conclusion, Spider-Man: No Way Home is definitely the amazing and spectacular Spider-Man movie I have ever watched. Do not forget to stay back for a mid-credits scene and post credits scene.

The death of Aunt May is laughable. The "villains" from the other movies are not at all what they once were. The movie is rushed but in the meantime, nothing happens...
It's a bad movie, with only one plot: nostalgia is great, 'member how great Andrew and Toby were? Plus the ending is exactly the same as spider man 2? Is that plagiarism?

The perfect Spider-Man fanservice movie I doubt anything will be able to top this introducing everything any fan would want.

But after a couple rewatches I realized that it allowed the story to focus on the characters we are more familiar with while also possibly even leaving some avenues open for future movies. This allowed us to have more personal moments with the characters we love than forcing something with characters we have never seen.
I could have done without the memes shoe-horned into the movies. It kinda take you out of the moment at times.
Also, I thought some the Spider-man CGI swinging and jumping action quality seems almost a step back from the first 2 franchises for some reason. Though the villains and some of their de-aging looked top notched.
But they minor quibbles don't make detract from the things that propelled this movie to near-perfect status in my book:
Peter losing Aunt May was gut wrenching. It didn't need to happen in this move, but it needed to happen to this Peter Parker because we never got that Uncle Ben moment and this was that moment for him. Like others have said, it's almost like these first movies in the MCU are this Peter's origin story. I like how Sony/Marvel is not just throwing the exact same story at us every few years with different villains. You noticed how, beside the Goblin, no Spider-man villain has been played by more than 1 actor. That is something else I appreciate that we aren't seeing the 3 iteration of the Harry/Peter story or the third Black Cat romance, etc. (I'm looking at you Batman with your 5 movie Jokers)
That ending how the MCU Peter/Spider-man gets a reset couldn't be more perfect and is surprisingly weighty and heartfelt. There are a dozen new directions Sony can take it from there.
Lastly, I loved how the Peters decided to save the villains and cure them instead of just punch and kick them back into their universes. Yeah, it makes things cloudy with how they reappear in their own dimension, some of them moments before their death, but it sets Spider-man aside as a different kind of hero. Especially when nearly all of his villains are results of accidents in the first place.

This movie is epic and amazing. A heavily fan serviced film however does have some plot holes and pacing issues.

You've already seen this movie, don't lie. There's nothing I can say that thousands, if not millions of others haven't.

What has become of this fanbase?

What has happened to standards of quality?!

And Spider-Man being your friendly neighborhood everyman?!

The whole point of this character is meant to connect to people with everyday problems facing them with a lack of control over it because he's trying to balance out those everyday problems as he grows as a person into a matured man. While keeping the super heroics on the most personal grounded level as possible.

At some point seemingly everyone has abandon this idea.

Now he's just every other generic superhero that just there to beat the villain with stupidly high stakes with no grounded relatable problems and a incredibly forced team up added to it. While getting all the gadgets, perks and help from any superhero he meets without any hard effort for it.

Cause that's what Spider-Man is all about that's all everyday problems we ourselves have dealt with.

This fanbase now are just jam-packed with A grade hypocrites.

Claiming to have high standards and expectation for this character being relatable and unique from other superheroes yet will drop it as soon as some other cool superhero shows up or teams up with him.

All of a sudden the superheroes are the only things that matters, not the people themself.
Now this character life is one none of us can connect to anymore. I'm done with all of this garbage!

Especially with this insane fanbase with zero standards not caring whatsoever what this character meant to represent anymore!

4/10 Mediocre movie just as expected.

The only reason I enjoyedThis Movie was an overall safe option if Spiderman goes to Sony fully in the divorce and otherwise a big ass prologue to Doctor Starge 2, i kinda miss when a superhero movie was a movie about the hero in the title. The only reason I enjoyed the movie even a bit was because of the fanservice. But that should NEVER be the sole reason why a movie is enjoyable. The "With great power comes great responsibility" scene felt unearned, the characters where written so stupidly for being highly intelligent individuals??? "Fixing" the Spiderman villains just shows that the writers don't get why the villains are so iconic and memorable. Well at least the action looks good. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Honestly, this movie feels much more Disney than Marvel. The story, jokes, timing, moments, low-quality CGI, and overall tone are fitting for a children's movie; which is disappointing for a life-long Spider-Man fan. I mean, Aunt May makes a joke about Otto Octavius drinking salt water... because he's an octopus... they're both adults...

While it was interesting to see the mix of old and new, I feel as though the new Spider-Man/universe were the weakest elements of the movie. Dr. Strange is relegated to a joke, non-powered characters don't act like they're in any danger, and the Mirror Dimension is just an excuse to create visual spectacle without any real substance. Additionally, the moment they introduce the other two Spider-Man characters is terribly paced at home and it is clear that they paced it to hold fold audience applause.

A few minutes prior, at about the half-way mark, the movie goes through a sharp tonal shift. Willem Dafoe steps into the spotlight and initiates the turn, which was done very well. That said, Aunt May's death doesn't feel earned or built up to, it just kind of happens. Although Tom Holland's acting was fantastic in the scene (and after), it felt very wrong and out of place inside of the film that surrounds it.

Adding Tobey and Andrew's Spider-Men drastically helped the film, but without the efforts of previous films, their emotional performances and presence wouldn't have been as impactful. That said, the first scene with all three actors was ABSOLUTELY CAPTIVATING! More than anything, it made me wish that the rest of the film had done them justice. They could have created such a strong movie, but instead they made popcorn with a bit of added flavor. Although the second half of the film is much stronger/better than the first half, the film as a whole felt... disappointing.

The three Spider-Men and Willem Dafoe were amazing. Everything else, not quite as much.
