I watched this movie and I can say first hand that it is a celebration of animation. And it has an art style so condensed that it makes even comic books look like they where made 10 minutes in Photoshop compared to this.

Maybe the only bad point is the frame skip in the animation wich is not always consistant, it gives a good 2D vibe on some parts and looks random and erratic on some others.

Yes, I found this movie to be extraordinary, however, there are a few things about this film that should have been reviewed and/or fixed before the final poduct being released. The movie had an amazing storyline but the art style was, lets say... off. Yes, I understand that the art was meant to look like a comic book, but it was honestly just weird. The visuals seemed to give almost everyone in the theatre an odd expression on their face. I think that the art style would have looked better if it didn't have all the lines and dots in the background. But overall, an enjoyable film. Expand

Spider-Man Into the Spider-Verse is easily the best animated film of 2018 and a truly modern animated masterpiece. TheSpider-Man Into the Spider-Verse is easily the best animated film of 2018 and a truly modern animated masterpiece. The script, characters and pacing are great but what makes this movie so unique is its visually stunning animation. The animation of this movie really gives it a personality that many modern animated movies lack, it's like watching a comic book move, it's colorful and very "artsy" at times. I was shocked with the attention to detail in the animation, making almost every single shot feel like an illustration and not a frame of an animated movie, the animation director(s) really cared to make this movie one of the most beautiful looking animated films in recent memory.

Now that I praised the animation to death, this movie has really good writing: Lots of funny and self-aware jokes and some genuinely emotional moments and motivational and memorable quotes. Phil Lord wrote the story and script and he has proven to be a talented writer with movies like Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs and The Lego Movie and his talent shows in this movie's script.

This movie captures what Spider-Man's character really is and has charismatic and well developed characters, I thought that because this movie is about six "Spider-People" it would become convoluted and messy but fortunately, it never felt that way and we get to know our characters and give them a proper amount of screentime to each one of them, of course Peter B Parker and Miles Morales have way more screentime and development but because those are our leads and the story focuses more on them.

This movie isn't perfect, no movie is perfect and I guess that one of the few problems this movie has is some bad music choice, by that I mean that there were some scenes where the song that was playing was kind of out of place, but to me it wasn't really that big of a problem. Maybe the "character introduction" segments (where a new "Spider-Man" appears) became a bit too repetitive as they all tell for the most part the same story and if you are a big Spider-Man fan or you have some knowledge of the comics and the secret identity of some of its most iconic villains, then a twist that happens halfway through the movie might not really surprise you and you might expect it.

This is a must-see even if you're not a Spider-Man fan. This is not only an amazing animated film, it's also a great movie on its own, this isn't just another superhero movie like Incredibles 2 turned out to be, it's a lot more than that, that predictable formula superhero movies are known for is for the most part non-existent here. If you haven't seen it, what are you waiting for? I'm so happy this won the Oscar, the Academy finally gave the award to a movie made with so much love and effort in almost every aspect of it, from the animation, to the script and story.

Dear Sony Pictures, if you could make a Spider-Man movie like this, why did you shower us with s**ts like Venom and the (not so) Amazing Spider-Man films? .
.
Good : This latest movie featuring Spider-Man is the best Spider-Man film in the last 10 years. It was, in fact, the best Spider-Man film after the first two in Sam Raimi's trilogy, for me. Not saying that it was insanely great of a movie, but was better than every single Spider-Man film that came after them. The entire idea of culminating different Spider-Mans from different parallel universes, initially, didn't sound to me like a good idea. But, it was done in a very good manner in this film. The movie gives a good character depth to the main characters. Especially, Peter Parker, Miles Morales and somewhat to Gwen Stacey. As for the Peter Parker, it feels like they were trying to make it a continuation of what Raimi did. Many part of his backstory was similar to what Raimi did in his films, including some basic plot points. Not only this, but a lot of things he mentions feels like it was a follow-up to where Raimi left. Miles Morales, our main character, got a very good character arc. They show the backstory of every character in the same and interesting way, without being repetitive. The character dynamic is very good and there are some twists which might not expect. It also is a very good comic book panel in its own right, and being an animated feature, it doesn't look nonsensical. It is neither too dead serious nor too goofy. Most of the comedic parts and meta humour land properly. Kingpin starts off like your typical one dimensional sci-fi s**tting villain, but he also has an interesting arc, which was a little obvious as an arc, but okay. The other villains weren't so good, but were not shoehorned or forced for having villains. They were used properly as plot devices. Everything the movie has is exciting and will not let you down. The voice overs were excellent. .
.
Bad : The main criticism of this film would be that it follows the same formula of an origin story. One or two jokes do feel awkward. All the Spider-Man characters weren't equally interesting. That's all the bad it has. .
.
Conclusion : It is a very excellent film. It can be enjoyed with your entire family, including kids. This is a kids movie. But, the adults will be entertained too. It is a movie for everyone. Highly recommended. .

This is NOT the Second Coming of anything and will be devilishly difficult to write a sequel to. Still there is real heart here in how Miles' family is portrayed and how Miles comes into his own almost as a non-sequitur to the chaos of the third act. If you're interested, the roots of this go back to:
- Tron Uprising, same visual consultant,
- the Beenox Spideman video game,
- the joyous freedom of the first two issues of the Marvel comic in-house version of Mad magazine where Peter Porker came from s I recall.

But I was trying as hard as I could to lower my expectations for the movie, as I was quite possibly sure that a movie with many "spider people" in it like this would be a total mess. The reviews came out calling the movie one of, if not the greatest Spider-Man movie ever made! I was still has my same worries; but I was so glad it gained such awesome reviews, for I really had thought the movie would be a critical failure. (I mean, It's produced by Sony Pictures Animation after all!)

First things first, the eye-popping visuals I've seen a glimpse of from the trailers didn't disappoint. As a matter of fact, the animation looks even better than I expected it to be. The insanely inventive visual style of this movie is unlike any other film ever made; It's simply groundbreaking! Plus, the movie could have easily felt more self-indulgent than clever due to the eye-poppingly opulent visual style that embraces the aesthetics of its comic-book roots; but the movie's substance is as much as it's style. The action set-pieces are quite staggering and innovatively designed; those of Incredibles 2 really pale in comparison to what I found in this movie! But the quick-frame animation also does something spectacular for the action sequences. It made the action looks pretty fast and uniquely slick.

While the movie's unique aesthetic was the thing that made me interested in watching the movie in the first place; the thing that amazed me is the unorthodox and unprecedented way the movie captured the anxiety and panic of gaining superpowers and becoming a superhero. I know it seems weird and quite silly when I say that I felt that I was feeling what Miles Morales felt when he discovered that he became a superhero for the first time! The movie shows us how "With great power comes great responsibility" instead of making us hear it over and over. Of course, the visuals added a lot to this point in particular; but it's Phil Lord and Rodney Rothman's astute and extremely clever script that made Morales a fully-fledged, and quite relatable character by putting him in both internal and external conflict. Nothing feels exceptional or new in the character's arc, and you could easily sense the familiarity of the phases our protagonist go through; but the innovative storytelling that enriches the plot as well as the main character made up for that. Although they are not fully-developed and fleshed-out as much as I hoped; The other "spider people", are utilized quite well, they fit perfectly in the story, and every single one of them has their own personality, its own character, and that made each one of them adds something different to the humor of the movie, which is, by the way, quite brilliant! That's more than enough for me, especially since the overabundant storylines and characters were my biggest concerns about this movie before watching it. They could have hampered the narrative and made the movie a complete mess like I had expected; but they didn't, and everything was surprisingly cohesive.

There is no doubt that the subtle humor played an important in making the storylines feel coherent; but the unparalleled realization of the idea of... well, the parallel worlds and the multiverse is really the thing that glued all the different sub-plots and storylines together, and made what seems implausible on paper quite compelling and cogent.

The villain, Kingpin is, sadly, the worst thing in this movie. His character is underutilized, underdeveloped, and kinda dumb and stupid! It's really disappointing, as Netflix's Daredevil's Kingpin is one of my favorite comic-book villains I've ever seen being depicted on screen. Besides that I already knew his background very well, the movie did nothing but giving us every once in a while a glimpse or a peak of Kingpin's back-story, and hence his motivations, and this was very perfunctory, especially for those who introduced to this character for the first time. Adding insult to injury, the short scenes that concern Kingpin are scattered and annoyingly intrusive. The fact that Kingpin is quite brainless is totally out-of-place. I mean, the movie is way too smart and clever to have a villain like this that kept giving the protagonist enough time to defeat him until the very end!

Overall, Miles Morales has an unforgettable big-screen debut thanks to a compelling adventure story with innovative and clever storytelling, ground-breaking (and hopefully revolutionary) striking visuals and risk-taking animation style, and strong vocal performances from the entire cast. The well-deserved Oscar winner, Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse is hands down the best animated movie of 2018!

Into The Spider-Verse is so much more than it seems. It will stand as one of the best Marvel movies ever and the fact that its animated and still achieves that kind of status among its viewers is such a great accomplishment. I was extremely annoyed with all of the racial hype and pretense of Black Panther and came into the movie fairly annoyed and ended up just liking the movie enough to accept it as an OK quality Marvel product. Into The Spider-Verse is what all of these people celebrating achievements based on skin color should be putting front-and-center. The writing is superb, the voice actors all deliver stellar performances, and the design of animation is among the best I've ever witnessed. It's not a question of whether you should see Into The Spider-Verse but when will you see it because it's easily a contender for best Marvel movie (HUGE praise given the good quality of most Marvel films). Was a little unsure about having a new spiderman character but immediately the film recognises and addresses that by taking you on a wonderful journey with its new character Miles Morales. This is the kind of movie that comes once a generation and it really blew me away how it uses style and expert pacing to tell its new spider story never once becoming guilty of compromising the characters it shows you or crucially ever leaving the audience behind.

And spider man is really not my favourite character. But as the trailer came in and the critics who had already have seen the movie have been so positive about the movie I thought, OK, let's give it a chance. And wow. I was so surprised: this is the best animated movie I have seen. There are parts of the settings where I was blown away by the visual ideas. The tone, the mood, the style. Everything was just mastrefull. The story was well structured, although the twist was not that hard to figure out. Still: worth see as it hits you a little bit emotionally. No spolers, so you should get that experience yourself.

I hope we will get a second part … This is my approach to spider man. And I like it.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Honestly when I went into the cinema the 15th of December I didn't even know what i was paying to watch. I was just out with some friends and thought that it was going to be fun since it was another Spider-Man movie and it would be fun to watch . But this movie goes way deeper than being something to watch when bored, this has become my favourite animated movie. (Contains few minor Spoilers)

I think that this movie is a Must-Watch as soon as you can buy it or watch it on Netflix or another Streaming Browser. This movie about Miles Morales makes us get in the position of him and feel how he becomes a "Spider-Person" and honestly, after watching this movie I wanted to be a Spider-Person too. The movie shows us how Spider Man is dead in this world and Miles gets bitten by a spider like in the classic movies and starts developing his powers. You also see how they successfully show other dimensions and make it easy to understand for a kid. You see how characters from way different types of worlds appear into Miles's and help him out. These are characters that would never be added in a movie like this but yet, they feel so consistent here and not out of Place.

During these 116 minutes of film you see how Sony has made these unique characters develop throughout the changes of the storyline. Each character has it's own background and they are all so well made that they could probably make "spin-offs" out of each character in this movie. The humour is always kept up and might only displease the viewer once or twice. The Style of Animation, how can I even begin? It is amazing. It is animated as you would watch it in a comic and the style of animation is something new not seen a lot in other movies but looks great on this one Even though I feel like the story is something really cliche and seen a lot of times the movie makes it feel like something different and with small little changes making this movie really feel like it's own. After watching this movie the first thing I did was check when the DVD comes out, and I tell you that when it comes out on April I will never watch this movie enough times.

It’s stop motion 3D animation style blends in seamlessly with the comic-book art style and visual effects as well as some of the coolest looking shots in the film. Character progression is at a all time high with the exception of the antagonist and all of it plays well into Miles Morales character arc as well as everyone else’s. The action sequences are amazing, whatever shocks and twists the film has are, needless to say, well executed and the fact that SONY took this opportunity to actually have some fun and poke some fun with all its cliches and gimmicks, this film explores the classics as well as the uniquely bizarre, which I fear will probably turn off some average moviegoers who haven't experienced these characters yet. But if you can't embrace a film like that, it's probably not for you. As a coming of age story, it’s fresh. As a Miles Morales story and an origin story, it’s very enthralling and fulfilling. But as a Spider-Man story, let alone one we haven’t seen on the silver screen yet, it’s spectacular. Rather than a replacement, we get a successor to the legacy. This is one of the better tales of the character I’ve seen yet and is practically on the same level as Spider-Man 2, if not better. And considering how SONY has already confirmed a franchise is in the works, I’m just praying to the almighty Madam Web that success does not get to them and maybe we won’t get a repeat like we did 11 years ago. Well.....either way, it’s gonna be fun seeing where they go next. Expand

The first teaser last year got me hooked and I knew I wanted to see it. But as more and more trailers were released, the more skeptical I became as this movie began looking like a cluster - f*** of stories and characters going nowhere. That and include the Emoji Movie and Venom, and you basically has me with little faith that this movie could work. Never have i been so glad to be wrong, as not only is this the best Spider-Man movie ever made, but it is one of the best Super Hero/Comic Book/Animated movies ever made. It's clear now that Sony only made the Emoji Movie so that they could supply more money for this movie as this animated movie is the best of what any movie based on comics have to offer. The animation is some of the best I have ever seen, as each frame is a work of art and is beautiful--it feels like a comic book is actually playing out on screen. The story--oh lord--the story...it's perfect. You can tell that a lot of time and effort went into making this the best possible Spider-Man story possible. Despite the cluster of Spider-characters, this movie never forgets that it's a Miles story, through and through. And despite it being another origin story for another Spider-Man, it doesn't feel stale or old, it feels new, and original. Every character feels like they have a reason to be there. Miles' story is perfect, Peter's story is amazing, even Gwen's story is spectacular. The voice cast do their top-notch job at making you believe in the characters on screen. The soundtrack is impeccable and you will want to listen to it as soon as you get home. This movie has everything, EASTER EGGS, COMEDY, HEART, ACTION, and a cartoon pig beating the crap out of a mechanic Scorpion. 10/10, perfect score, watch it, then watch it again, PLEASE. I've said all I need to say...Well, not entirely, I do have one last thing to say. For years, Sony has been wanting to build a cinematic universe off of Spider-Man and could never seem to do it right. In my opinion, Sony should stop trying with a live-action cinematic universe and go right into an animated cinematic universe. The potential here for limitless sequels, just based off the Spider-Man property alone, is too hard to ignore. Sony, get rid of the cinematic universe you had planned for Venom and Morbius, and focus all your attention on building off of this one, because the care you put into this, shows that you have something great, and whatever you do with it, I'm sure you'll knock it out of the park. I'm excited to see what the future holds for Sony, because if THIS is what we have in store, then count me in. Expand

Watching this was like going to the coffee shop to get a cuppa coffee but was given 7 coffees instead. Can't get any better than that!

Sony does love to make a Spider-Man film with far too many characters; however in the animated universe it works. "For telling us we aren’t the only ones"

If you watch "Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse," you're watching the fulfillment of the dream of a group of visionaries who, without thinking about it, have inspired millions and millions of people with a piece of art of unusual magnitudes among the wonderfully competitive modern animated film world, and, at the same time, have injected boldness, personality and brilliance into both Sony Pictures after unexpectedly wishy-washy box-office hit "Venom" last October and Marvel Studios' light-hearted and almost predictable live-action fanfare. A milestone in mainstream American animation: Disney and Pixar lose their annual crown this time. They play in different leagues and their only two releases scheduled for 2018, "Incredibles 2" and "Ralph Breaks the Internet," are favs among year-end movie lists, but, due to its one-kind approach and vehement freshness, "Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse" is, above all else, the non-stop-motion— relevant clarification in favor of Wes Anderson's breath-stealing showcase, "Isle of Dogs" —animated motion picture of the year and one of the most exhilarating, witty, socially thought-provoking and artfully made of the decade. The art department led by Dean Gordon and Patrick O'Keefe and the production design led by Justin Thompson have achieved something rather remarkable: to be different, meta-discursive, self-parodic, surprisingly glued to creator Steve Ditko's unique style and mightily dynamic, progressive and dazzling at the same time; guys, this is Oscar-caliber animation.

Pictures, trippy and hyper-stylized, revolve and bounce, go up and down all around the screen; the composition of every frame, diligently designed and rendered as for color and motion, is a sheer delight, a miracle that will be studied and swooned over for years to come. A piece of top-notch craftsmanship, the shots here skip from the iconic to the symbolic, from the self-referential to the most unflinching flair, the computerized cinematography catches the audience's hearts and minds. Any and all sequences are viscerally engrossing, surgically sketched and masterfully carried out; its comic roots and computer animation rules well above some Pixar's and Disney's visual pieces of art in fits and starts, in part by such a care between perfectionism and personality, handling edges so special and eye-popping that the experience turns into a high-octane kaleidoscope that, even along the closing credits, keep running. Beyond genre categories, it's great cinema, period. As a feature film, prone instinctively to social drama above mega-spectacle, it overly succeeds on its devices and purposes, as well as in the flavor it delivers all over the footage between exciting storytelling and effervescent visual prowess.

The exclusive visual storytelling is taking all the credit, but those who crafted such dazzlingly complex marvel were directors Bob Persichetti, Peter Ramsey, Rodney Rothman, screenwriter/producers Phil Lord and Christopher Miller. Passion, commitment and vision are three words that perfectly can be the soul of what these men wanted to project throughout the feature. The pre-credit dedication has a truly priceless purpose, enclosing all the ideas and feelings these people had in their minds and hearts when as they say, thousands of doors were closed, but one would always be open: to believe in themselves. We all know Phil and Chris, not only because of the controversy their "Solo: A Star Wars Story" firing unleashed last year, but also their uproariously funny, witty scripts such as "Deadpool" and "The Lego Movie." Nevertheless, the trio of filmmakers is relatively unknown at the wheel of a movie, save for Ramsey's "Rise of the Guardians," for this reason, it's even more surprising to take in that a near perfect masterpiece came out from these brand-new visionaries.

"Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse" by Bob Persichetti, Peter Ramsey and Rodney Rothman, above being a priceless gift for animation, is a one-of-a-kind superhero film, a respectful and sharp commentary on diversity and a piece of art for the ages; a response to the hatred, disrespect, and violence controlling minds and bodies in unjustified warfares. Is this the perfect antidote for an era of Trump, wrong traditionalism, walls, massacres, and indulgences? Forget about one of the best computer-animated superhero movies ever made, this is a reminder that we're not individuals, we're society, that dreaming is what keeps the world in motion and failure what keeps it evolving. Lee's gone now, but this cinematic feat is a proudly fitting tribute; Ditko is a maestro of out-of-reach scopes. Lee and Ditko have inspired millions, including this bunch of visionaries, who in turn have inspired all of us and our moment has come now; you know what they say: with great power comes great responsibility.

An energetic, inventive, totally unique foray into the Spider-Man universe. Come for the vibrant, note-perfect visual storytelling, and stay for one of the greatest post-credits sequences of all time.

Just one big mess, and not a good kind of mess. There is nothing good about this movie. I have no excuse for watching it.
