This review contains spoilers, click expand to view.

But mostly, the writing in this movie is atrocious. The characters were flat, the plot was generic and CGI does not make a movie good. Even commercials have CGI. CGI isn’t special anymore. Diversity + CGI = the modern entertainment industry. They wouldn’t know a good story if it crawled out their nethers. We did not need yet another coming of age story, but clearly the industry can’t come up with anything original. Remakes, sequels and coming of age are all they can do and what’s worse is they do them horridly. Writers in the modern entertainment industry are incompetent buffoons and the execs who green light all this garbage are idiots. This movie is an utter waste of time. Expand

Spider-Man: Far From Home is a 2019 American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character Spider-Man, co-produced by Columbia Pictures and Marvel Studios, and distributed by Sony Pictures Releasing. It is the sequel to Spider-Man:Spider-Man: Far From Home is a 2019 American superhero film based on the Marvel Comics character Spider-Man, co-produced by Columbia Pictures and Marvel Studios, and distributed by Sony Pictures Releasing. It is the sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017) and the 23rd film in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The film was directed by Jon Watts, written by Chris McKenna and Erik Sommers, and stars Tom Holland as Peter Parker / Spider-Man, alongside Samuel L. Jackson, Zendaya, Cobie Smulders, Jon Favreau, J. B. Smoove, Jacob Batalon, Martin Starr, Marisa Tomei, and Jake Gyllenhaal. In the film, Parker is recruited by Nick Fury (Jackson) and Mysterio (Gyllenhaal) to face the Elementals while he is on a school trip to Europe.

Discussions for a sequel to Spider-Man: Homecoming began by October 2016, and the project was confirmed later that year. Holland, Watts, and the writers were all set to return by the end of 2017. In 2018, Jackson and Gyllenhaal joined the cast as Fury and Mysterio, respectively. Holland revealed the sequel's title ahead of filming, which began that July and took place in England, the Czech Republic, Italy, and the New York metropolitan area. Production wrapped in October 2018. The marketing campaign is one of the most expensive for a film ever and attempted to avoid revealing spoilers for Avengers: Endgame prior to its April 2019 release.

Spider-Man: Far From Home premiered at the TCL Chinese Theatre on June 26, 2019, and was theatrically released in the United States on July 2, as the last film in Phase Three of the MCU. The film received positive reviews with praise for its humor, action sequences, visuals, and the performances of Holland and Gyllenhaal. It grossed over $1.1 billion worldwide, making it the first Spider-Man film to pass the billion-dollar mark, the fourth-highest-grossing film of 2019, and became Sony Pictures' highest-grossing film and the 24th-highest-grossing film of all time. A sequel, Spider-Man: No Way Home, was released in December 2021.

You might think Sony would have made enough money this year with "Morbius" being the highest-grossing movie of all time, but I guess 200 morbillion dollars at the box office didn't satisfy the corporate overlords. Physical sales not included.

As the ending point to the MCUs third (and overall best) phase of overwhelming content onslaught, "Far From Home" has the responsibility of being a good sequel to "Homecoming", wrapping up the Infinity saga and making way for more sequels to come. Thankfully, it achieved all of that pretty nicely.

Now, it has come to my attention that this movie is a bit controversial among some fans, which I absolutely don't get, because this movie is pretty dang good. It misses the down-to-earth vibe that made "Homecoming" so great, but it offers a lot of new directions to keep things fresh and interesting. A road trip movie with Spider-Man is very unusual for a character that is well known for being a New Yorker through and through, but this Spidey has also been to literal SPACE and fought a giant grape on a planet with weird gravity fluctuations, so yeah. Peter Parker aka Spider-Man faces a lot of new challenges throughout this movie: Being compared to his now legendary mentor figure who saved pretty much all of existence, dealing with the aftermath of being killed and revived again, getting recruited by shapeshifting aliens, being handed sunglasses that could wipe out entire cities, being emotionally manipulated by a super model and his crew of Phase 4 VFX artists (seriously, give them a goddamn break, Feige) and the most brutal and hardcore struggle a teenage boy could ever deal with: Asking his crush out. So yeah, pretty average highschool stuff.

This movie is almost Spider-Man 2 levels of what I call "Peter Parker getting screwed by almost everything and everyone in his life" which makes it both hilarious and also a little sad. I felt so bad for this innocent boy who just wants to enjoy his vacation and still has to deal with the MCUs stupid-ass shenanigans. It also helps that Tom Holland is such a great actor for both Peter and Spider-Man who comes with his own youthful charisma.

And then we have Jake Gyllenhall, playing Quentin Beck aka Mysterio and lemme tell ya, he's PERFECT. Arrogant, petty, charismatic, a brilliant liar and schemer, his costume design isnvery comic book accurate and...I mean, he's played by Jake Gyllenhall. No wonder he's so good. A real threat to our hero and a Top 3 Spider-Man movie villain next to Alfred Molina as Doc Ock and Willem Dafoe as Green Goblin. Supporting cast is also pretty great: Ned and Betty are hilarious, Aunt May and Happy are weirdly wholesome, the teachers of Midtown Tech deserve their own Disney+ show and Flash Thompson really needs some parental affection. #JusticeForFlash

My biggest shoutout however goes Out to Michelle Jones-Watson (played by Zendaya), who finally gets some more spotlight and is a great love interest for Peter. They are both so sweet together, it's giving me diabetes. Also, can we talk about the action in this movie? The elemental attacks, the illusion scenes (straight out of the comics), the whole bridge fight? This movie has some the MCUs most creative action! Shang-Chi is a bit better, but still. Michael Giacchinos score is great, as es per usual. The MCUs Spider-Man theme slaps even Harder then the Homecoming version and the Mysterio theme is surprisingly complex. Also, the final fight music ("Tower of Cower") is a straight BOP.

Oh, and before I forget: The new Red and black Spidey suit is soooo damn clean, one of my favorite Spidey suits ever, next to the Insomniac suit and TASM2 suit.

So yeah, very fun and engaging Spider-Man movie with a lot of heart, I love it. If you didn't like it, give it another chance and you might change your opinion. Not gonna lie, pretty excited to review "No Way Home" next, especially now that I need something to wash away that feeling of terror and disgust that "She-Hulk" has left on me.

(Seriously, Marvel. Please get a grip already, this year has been pretty rough for the MCU.)

The story is brilliant centered around the college trip with spiderman's stuff and the mysterio he is awesome, The Cgi is a piece and the jokes around trip were fun, The Iron man's stuff countinuation and the trust factor is amazingly showcased. The action scenes and the illusions were awesome, The starting with connecting to endgame's event and the trip plan with the love stuff of peter and mj and the flight scene "the perfume stuff" of peter trying to get to mj his plan it was fun and then the nick fury's entry with mysterio's fake multiversal thing it felt amazing and The elementals fights were awesome, the bathroom scene with lady felt wierdly funny and the edith drone strike and the futher fights were amazing, after halfway through the mysterio's reveal it was just surpisingly awesome and his iron man connection is just bravvo, The mj finding out peter's identity felt little sweet and then the illusion fight after mysterio's reveal it was literally a piece felt directly from comic it was jaw-droppingly awesome The way tricks and trust is portrayed it was just brilliant, The happy's rescue and new suite with it the last act's fight with drones, love that cap's reference and the fight is just awesome, The museum scene with drone and spiderman friends the happy and aunt may's thing was funny and then the final illusion fight with another classic mysterio move and spiderman taking everything down it was just an amazing end and finally mj and peter together and overall trip in between with funny teachers and flash's vlog and ned's couple stuff it was fun, Then after the trip The swing with mj and the mid-credits where spidermans identity revealed coverd by "j jonah jameson" it was just literally nuts and an epic cliff-hanger and then postcredits nick fury and skrull stuff it was surprisingly amazing, The ending is literally Mind-blowingly awesome, Overall its a great sequel and an brilliantly awesome movie!

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Let me give my thoughts by describing the movie’s climax:

Spider-Man fabricates a custom suit on his private jet while on his way to take back his pair of glasses that control military-grade drones.

The dialogue is cringe-inducing and the shot composition is completely flat. The days of sweeping camera shots and fabulous web-swinging scenes are gone.

ButYeah, I'm seriously going to go there and give this a negative review, because Disney's android armies are here to bat for them. Now, normally the occasional plot hole or shoehorned story element that beggars belief does not bother me. But this movie is filled with absolutely bone-headed decisions by Parker (Holland does his best but at times seems confused - I blame constant rewrites as the writing is insufferable) and the plot? It's an amount of stupid that I just cannot handle. Just about the only highlights this film had to offer were the performance by Jake Gyllenhaal, and the fights, while heavily-reliant on CGI, are generally fun. I enjoyed the final fight scene and Zendaya's character is more interesting than in Homecoming. Even Ned is funny at times.

But that doesn't excuse poor writing that presents a whiny character that scarce resembles the selfless Peter Parker, who was motivated by PROTECTING THOSE CLOSEST TO HIM!!! Absolutely none of the choices Peter Parker makes in this film is for the right reason, or for the noblest intent. Minor SPOILER here... Mysterio's trick on Peter could only have worked if he knew what an incredible bonehead this kid is. Biggest and most unexplained plot failure right there.

And that scene where they tried to convince me that Peter understands the ramifications of Multiverse theory being real? **** all you did was copy out the textbook come the **** on. You obviously cannot write characters smarter than you are, so why didn't you bring in an expert to help you with that scene?

Oh, I'll tell you why. It's ****ing laziness.

My wife and Mom were just as exasperated as I was to see what Peter does in the bus. I walked out of the room right there because it was so poorly motivated, realized, or executed.

This tottering fool of a director, Jon Watts, could have more judiciously chopped this movie down. Trim the bad jokes, tuck the padding, and improve the character choices...

Here's another one for you. Why the ever-loving cuss, after seeing the projection, didn't Parker IMMEDIATELY call Nick Fury?!? That he simply doesn't want to be involved with him ENDANGERS EVERYONE and PUTS THE CITY OF LONDON AT RISK OF MASS CASUALTIES. IT BEGGARS CUSSING BELIEF.

All you needed to fix this was one line of dialogue.

Spider-Man: *receives a call from Nick Fury, answers*
Nick Fury: Line's compromised - I'll call you back.

They wouldn't even need to drag Samuel L. Jackson out of bed. Have the guy send a voice recording from his phone. No one can tell the cussing difference anyway, because the sound mix is so sloppy! Also worst Giacchino score!! Come on dude! Fallin' asleep at the wheel here! Love, a fan.

IN SHORT CUSS THIS MOVIE THE END

Can't say I am a fan of the teen Zen female. Does she not have a last name? I don't particularly enjoy her acting either.

Ditch the techno-suit and bring back what made Spider-Man an enjoyable character.

Let's see: teens go to Washington in movie 1 and Spidey appears. Teens go to Europe and Spidey appears. Unless one is a complete moron - which these teens appear to be - it is not difficult to assume that one of them (not the fat ones) is actually Spider-Man. Taking that logic further, the missing one must be Spider-Man.

This does not bode well for future Spider movies.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Improvement over the first movie, but still gets a lot of things wrong. The way Peter just gives the glasses to Mysterio, a man he met 2 days ago, which also turns out to be exactly what he wanted, feels extremely forced, similar to how Vulture finds out Peter is Spider-man in Homecoming. The Ned sub-plot turns him into a cartoon character that takes you out of the movie entirely, MJ is unique but her comedy doesn't always land. Happy is a good character, but sadly he is used to somehow link Peter to Stark, something we have watched till exhaustion. My main gripe is that the first movie is about Peter trying to prove himself worthy, and he does. But now its like all that development was thrown in the trash, also after facing Thanos twice, Earth problems should be a walk in the park for him. Expand

In comparison with Homecoming, this one has its own style and in someway succeeds in innovating both visual field and script.
Undoubtedly, this film is one of the biggest audiovisual shows of Marvel's films, the visual effects were excellent and the action scenes were great. Something that's appreciated is the cast, they got an excellent balance in all the development of each character un this film.
Now, if you weren't convinced by the mystery of Mysterio, you can not appreciated all that I mentioned before, and that is compressive, but in someway is a warning of something that is coming tomorrow.

The movie was honestly lazily written and had a ton of plot holes and problems. I like Tom Holland he is a great actor and he does a very good job in the role but he really needs better writing on his character as he is not a very 3-dimensional character like Tobey Maguire's incarnation was. Also again Marvel with its forced humor is here and it was one of the worst in this movie. Mysterio was a cool villain and Jake Gyllenhaal did a great job and the final battle I thought was pretty awesome and creative. The movie is also fun to watch and that post-credit scene is easily one of the best of the MCU. But, the movie really just feels like a pastime and popcorn entertainer as it doesn't feel like a big event which is a shame as it is Spider-Man and he is one of the greatest superheroes of all time. Far From Home jettisons the last ounce of believability the series has for corny MCU antics and cheesy characters, with a sense of humor that feels almost embarrassed to be making a Spider-Man film.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Far From Home is a sequel that’s about as good as its predecessor was, giving us a “franchise reboot franchise”, if you will, that’s been consistently good. The first MCU movie that takes place in a post-Endgame world, Far From Home does what it needs to: reminds us of the results and ramifications of Endgame but is also a story of its own, and it does all of that well. One of the best things about the movie is that it incorporates a lot of the elements of Homecoming: a teenage boy having girl and “extracurricular commitment” problems, and trying to find a way to balance the two. Via this, FFH succeeds in being yet again a relatable movie for younger audiences while also containing some adult moments that viewers need to be a bit more mature to understand. Tom Holland delivers a great performance yet again as Peter Parker, and does a nice job of portraying the emotions that Peter is going through in this post-Endgame world. FFH has much more emotional depth than Homecoming did, and is able to achieve this thanks to the script, acting and direction. Familiar faces are welcome appearances in the movie, some we’ve seen a lot of in the MCU and one who hasn’t been around for a while. Jake Gyllenhaal’s Mysterio has a twist to him that is sure to keep viewers engaged and interested and goes to show how looks can be deceiving and that you can never trust a book by it’s cover. Tony Stark has a lot of influence in this movie despite his fate in Endgame, but the movie does a good job of not feeling too tied to him and making sure to focus on Peter and continue his story. My biggest criticism of FFH is that it feels misplaced and like it should’ve come out at a different time. FFH is technically the end of the Infinity Saga, but for me it should’ve been the start of Phase 4. Endgame gave us the satisfying conclusion to the saga that we needed and FFH just feels unnecessary in that regard as its end isn’t cathartic in the way that Endgame’s was. Having FFH kick off Phase 4 and come out later in 2019 would’ve given fans more time to process Endgame and prepare for the next chapter of the MCU to begin. That said, though, Far From Home is still entertaining and action-packed and a solid sequel to Homecoming. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. After Endgame, I thought the Marvel Cinematic Universe has ended. I didn't know the meaning of culmination back then. I used to think it means the final movie. So when I heard about Spider-Man: Far From Home releasing, I thought it's just gonna be to show from the perspective of one superhero as to how life has changed since the reverse snap. Since Endgame was 3 hours long they couldn't exactly show much about it from the point of view of the civilians, this movie could do it much better. After all, it's about Peter going to Europe (a place other than America) for a trip.

The only reason why I watched this movie is because it's Spider-Man. If it were any other superhero I'd have skipped it. Turns out it's a lot better than what everyone was saying it to be. There are a lot of things I liked about this movie, mainly Spider-Man himself. I really like Tom Holland's Spider-Man because of how much developed his suit is. Even if he just leaves his body idle the suit will allow him to continue fighting on his own. All those web mods are very interesting. I have talked about it in depth in my Spider-Man: Homecoming review so I don't feel like writing it again.

The movie really panders on the emotions for those who were fans of Iron Man. He has multiple references everywhere, since he was the mentor of Peter. Peter gets Tony's glasses as a gift from him which allow him to see many digital stuff. It actually draws many parallels between Tony and Peter, as to how they were both geniuses who have an AI-operated suit that helps them fight intensely powerful bad guys. Peter always looked up to Tony as his mentor, and in this movie it has been shown very appropriately.

Another thing this movie has shown very well is the life after the reverse snap. Many of our questions get answered over here. What happened to the people who came back is answered, how people are reacting, and most importantly what is to come for the Avengers. Iron Man, Black Widow, Captain America, Thor, Black Panther, Captain Marvel - all of them are gone now. Only Spider-Man can be in contact of the Avengers in case a threat is to come on earth. And this brings me to why Mysterio is a good villain in this movie.

Ever since the snap people have been traumatised. There could be any amount of danger coming in from any place and of any intensity. Seeing some monsters in Europe was enough to scare the people, and Mysterio used this opportunity to portray himself as the hero. Even Spider-Man became his fan seeing his work. Although he did learn about the truth later, Mysterio continued to be brave. The focus over here was to target Peter's friends and not the world. The stakes here were completely different.

Normally whenever there are any threats for a superhero, it's always on a big level: Someone is attacking the city, a family is in danger or the villain wants to take over the world. Here, however, the stakes are that Peter's friends are in danger. Since we have seen them for so long, we had grown fond of them. A threat to them will mean a lot more to us than the threat to a European city. And that's exactly what happens in this movie. This is the kind of a fresh air this movie is able to provide after the events of Avengers: Endgame.

In my opinion this should have been the last MCU movie. The end of the franchise is that everyone now knows who Spider-Man is and all the other Avengers have left earth. So now Peter has become the next Tony. It would have been a huge turnaround since Iron Man, as that movie was the one which showed for the first time that a hero doesn't need to hide their identity. This is a fun movie that can be enjoyed even if one hasn't watched Endgame, since everyone knows about the snap at this point.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. The second entry in the the second Spider-Man reboot series, this one takes place after the last Avengers movie. Tony Stark/Iron Man is dead and has left Peter with some of his technology. Most of the rest of cast from the last move returns, with Marisa Tomei as hot Aunt May; and Ned, Flash Thompson, and MJ. In the film, Peter leaves New York in a field trip with his classmates and they go to Europe. Jake Gylenhall plays Quentin Beck/Mysterio, someone who purports to be a superhero from another dimension and he fights a new threat to Earth, the elementals, strange super-powered entities from another dimension. Later on, it is revealed that Beck was deceiving everyone, and it was all an illusion he created as he is an illusionist and special effects expert. Beck was a former scientist at Stark industries who developed the holographic technology that Tony Stark stole and dubbed “B.A.R.F.” Angered by this, Beck was fired for his unstable nature. As a result, Beck swore revenge and sabotages the world while pretending to be an “Avengers”-level hero. I thoroughly enjoyed this one even more than the last one and was satisfied with its depiction of Mysterio. Expand

Responsibility, bad luck, few friends, money problems. But when you see this movie you don't have any of those words, instead you get a generic MCU movie without personality. If this movie was from a new character, I would like it and don't even write a review but this film is from Spider-Man. If you ignore that the entire previous film was about learning to be responsable and in this movie he just don't want to be a hero because he wants to date a girl and that's it. In Spider-Man 2 we saw how the entire universe slap Peter in the face any time but in this film he is just lazy. The good aspects of the film are the VFX and the charisma of some actors and that's why you don't get bored too much. The plot isn't that solid and the plot twist are so predictable. It's a fine movie and the worst Spider-Man movie ever. Expand

A good end to Phase Three of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

In short, I like 'Spider-Man: Far from Home'. I do think it's someway off its predecessor, but I still had a suitably fun time watching this. Tom Holland remains top notch in the main role, with Jake Gyllenhaal, Samuel L. Jackson and Zendaya supporting strongly.

The story is a solid one, I like the concept of it; especially with Gyllenhaal's character. Some of the special effects do look a little questionable, but only in relation to how great the effects usually are in the MCU. Compared to an 'average' film, they still look good.

By sheer process of the elimination, it probably is one of my least favourite films from this universe. That's not a negative though, as I very much like it and keenly await the currently unnamed sequel.

You can do it again. The film is over, the credits are over and we go outside excitedly.

Before we start, I'll get the minus point out of the way, because the film has a small weakness. More precisely, there are individual moments that drag each other a little too much.

But that's it ..... About the rest, I can only say: bombastic. The spider delivered a really awesome film that does so much right.

The actors are all of a good standard. Above all, Tom Holland plays really outstanding.

Visually the film is impressive. Scenes that only astonish you.

From a narrative point of view, it's all very well thought out and nicely resolved.

After I would place Homecoming in the middle field, Far From Home really convinced me. This film is one of the best in the MCU.

Top performance Spidey.

Trying to copy Spider-Man too way too much but falling flat in so many areas. At least some parts are still amusing.

Still I don't think it's worth a watch at all.

However, there are some really enjoyable scenes here as well as a decent Spiderman and some brilliant visual moments led by Mysterio. The pacing is quite good too, so it doesn't feel like it drags. It is the rare movie that invites you to come along for the ride while giving you so much to think about afterwards. Rewarding on multiple levels. Marvel has always succeeded in providing great entertainment, but this is the closest they've come to also achieving something truly important Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This is my favorite Spider-Man movie, my 3rd favorite action movie of 2019, my 2nd favorite superhero movie of 2019, my 2nd favorite Marvel movie of 2019, my 3rd favorite movie of 2019, my 3rd Marvel movie of all time, one of my top 5 favorite action and superhero movies of all time, and one of my favorite movies of all time. I loved this one even more then Homecoming and I also give this one an A++. The acting was phenomenal especially from Tom Holland, Jake Gyllenhaal, Zendaya, Samuel L. Jackson, Jon Favreau, Marisa Tomei, Jacob Batalon, Martin Starr, and Cobie Smulders. The visual effects were exceptional and cool especially Mysterio's illusions and the Elementals. Far From Home had really awesome action scenes. The movie was really funny. I loved all of Spider-Man's new suits, they were amazing. All of the music was outstanding especially Back In Black and all of songs for the different countries they visited. The writing, story, and screenplay were remarkable. The sets and scenery were magnificent. I also loved the extra scene where J. Jonah Jameson revealed to the world that Peter Parker is Spider-Man and the post-credits scene where find out that Talos and Soren were hired by Nick Fury to impersonate him and Maria Hill, they were both so shocking and cool. They go heavy on the comedy and I rarely find any of the jokes funny. I don't consider this to be a legit Spider-Man film. Its just one big joke. 20 minutes in I paused to make sure I was watching the right movie. You can skip the first 20 minutes and not miss anything but stupid jokes. The action picks up after but I was never invested emotionally. I think this might be a good movie for young children but any adult should probably pass on this. It's definitely not Spider-Man 1 or 2. Actually I would rather watch Spider-Man 3 even though it's cringe. I watched this movie because I like Jake Gyllenhaal. He's a great actor. I liked him in this up to the point where they made him the bad guy. He was very charismatic and likable. He called Spider-Man a kid over and over. That's the problem with this Spider-Man. He is a kid. I want adult Spider-Man played by Tobey Maguire. Give me Spider-Man 4.. Even if it's worse than Spider-Man 3 I have a hard time believing it would be worse than Spider-Man Far From Home. The same people that like this are probably the same people that liked Shazam and all the other dumb superhero movies of late... Even the ones I kind of like have dumb comedy in them these days. Aquaman is a good example of one that is dumb but offers so much more that I try to over look it. But I couldn't do that here because it just sucked. It was just a bad Spider-Man parody. Expand

A nice addition to the long list of Spiderman movies.

I haven't seen "Avengers: Endgame" yet, but after some reading I realized that this movie works almost like a sequel, reporting events after that movie. The script is quite simple: after being part of the Avengers team, Peter Parker tries to return to a minimally normal life and take a trip through Europe with his high school classmates. But the emergence of new threats to the world will frustrate Spider-Man's vacation plans and, at the same time, put to the test the confidence that the late Tony Stark placed in him.

The film continues to be starring Tom Holland in the role of Spider-Man. He has progressed a lot from one film to the next and here he is much more solid and tailored for the character. Jake Gyllenhaal gave the villain life in an impeccable way and Samuel L. Jackson makes a flawless performance too. Zendaya was discreet but competent, leading the younger cast. The only negative criticism I make of her is that she did not get a particularly good chemistry with Holland.

The film maintains the adolescent and light spirit that we feel in "Spider-Man: Homecoming" but the quality of the plot and the story told seemed to me better. I felt that this film has an easier time captivating and holding our attention. The comedy, on the other hand, was also much better accomplished and does not transform Spider-Man into a silly boy inside a suit, as happened in "Homecoming". The action scenes follow one another and will please fans easily, and the state-of-the-art visual, special and CGI effects are sure to impress the audience.

Spider-man: Far From Home: Summer Fling and Blockbuster

The Stream: Slow to get to the action and some comedic redundancy

The Big Screen: Very fun movie, great action sequences and furthers the MCU

The Final Bill: A must see in the theater for all of the action and intense illusions.

It’s an end of an era. The final movie of the third phase of the beloved MCU. They called in the neighborhood webslinger to close it out, like my boy Ricky “Wild Thing” Vaughn. So let’s see how Marvel tries to upstage or accompany their blockbuster hit, Avengers: Endgame.

Let’s start with the stream, or the bad, part of the movie. Honestly, the issues are very minor. The movie moves very slowly for about the first 20-25 minutes. Let’s put it like this, my Peter-tingle was not working. But, quickly this inertia passes. The only other issue with this movie dealt with some of the comedic relief. Some comedy hits very hard and everyone in the theater laughs, but there are certainly times where the comedy missed the mark. Specifically, there are repetitive jokes by certain side characters that just aren’t funny, or they used the wrong take to engage the audience properly. These jokes don’t make the movie bad, but I did find myself saying, “Oh Lord, here this guy comes again with the same ol same ol.”

With that said, Marvel has developed a roster of directors and casts that perfectly create the desired theme or essence of the hero. For example, the coordination of Ant-Man being a great comedy/heist movie led by Paul Rudd, Michael Douglas and Michael Pena. In Far From Home, Marvel created a nearly perfect teen/summer love/coming of age superhero movie. Tom Holland, Zendaya, and Jacob Batalon (Ned), for starters, played their roles very well. Just like in Homecoming, the actors play off each other quite well, even if MJ is slightly redundant and annoying. On top of that, the addition of Jake Gyllenhal, as Mysterio, was quite satisfying. He gave us superhero and super villain.

Now for the best part of the movie, the action. I was skeptical about how they were going to pull off Mysterio’s illusions, but Marvel did not disappoint. Several of Far from Home’s action sequences rival that of Endgame’s final battle – which says a lot. Marvel has cornered the market in great action sequences, especially with emotional or sentimental overtones. If for nothing else, the movie is worth seeing because of the action entertainment value.

Finally, this movie’s storyline is able to end and begin parts in the MCU universe. The end of Phase 3 was sad, but this movie gives hope to the future of the MCU. Can’t wait to see Peter, “thwiip” his ways through the rest of this MCU.

Long story short, this is just an all-around good movie. Marvel did it again. This movie is great for so many viewing audiences. I do not see how anyone will be disappointed by this movie. Get the biggest bucket possible at the theater and I promise you that you’ll get a refill and it still won’t be enough to satisfy you.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. It is mediocre-at-best. The villain is your typical "Tony Stark shunned me so I want to prove my worth". It is not interesting anymore. Most jokes fell flat. It was just so poorly timed that it ruins the mood instead of being funny. It also consists of "WTF" moments that makes no sense or makes the prior scene stupid. One example is Mysterio revealing Spider-man is Peter. When did he record that? It was poorly done. The part where Mysterio filled Spider-man with illusions was too "on-point" to be believable. The movie had few good scenes but most of it is mediocre. 20/100. Expand
