As a 36 year old man who lost both parents in the past ten years, this movie spoke to me on so

Pixar’s most profound story since Wall-E is an almost perfect film. Can be depicted in multiple layers reaching though multiple audiences.

Foxx and Fey do a wonderful job with natural chemistry and that is really the only good I have to say about it. The plot was as predictable as the trailer made it out to be and that I felt took away a lot from it overall. I am very disappointed by this movie which took a direction that was completely unnecessary. The movie looks beautiful, and I thought the first minutes of it were brilliant, but for whatever reason Pixar decided to turn it into an even moreI am very disappointed by this movie which took a direction that was completely unnecessary. The movie looks beautiful, and I thought the first minutes of it were brilliant, but for whatever reason Pixar decided to turn it into an even more conceptual version of Inside Out that's very tough to understand for kids. It's a shame because I think the message of the film is beautiful, but it would have meant much more if it was told using the real world and the human characters they're presenting to you instead of surreal concepts. All these concepts they introduce in this movie are there just to try the same thing Inside Out already tried and we already saw. And it just doesn't work for me.… Expand

One of the best Disney films I've seen in a while. Casting is accurate and soundtrack is effortless. However, I would not suggest that all kids watch this though... especially if there not prepared to talk about life,death and afterlife. ItOne of the best Disney films I've seen in a while. This is a heartwarming movie about the purpose of life: enjoying every moment. The plot was a bit uneventful and random, and the characters needed more development, but the message is powerfully examined. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Amazing visuals, snappy dialogue, interesting characters, lacking story, deplorable protagonist, and an ending that doesn't provide closure. I'd say I barely enjoyed watching it and will probably not see it another time. This movie honestly feels like it's trying to imitate Pixar's Inside Out, but does so with disingenuous material and does it poorly.

We follow our main guy Joe along his life being obsessed with music and finally getting the gig he wants only to fall into a sewer and die. From there we get to see the Great Beyond and the Great Before; terms that become problematic when talking about any actual afterlife that the movie makes neatly side step by saying that's all in the beyond.
Joe is able to avoid the Beyond (only to put a time limit on his actions and to trick him into thinking he's special) and escapes to the Before, where he proceeds to get back to his body even at the cost of stealing other's lives. Joe constantly shows he's selfish and doesn't care about others and only changes after he destroys a life and only through Deus Machina fixes it.

Combined with a lot of psych nonsense rhetoric, anti-christian hints, and naive view of life makes this movie feel like a way of tricking the next generation the way Disney did the previous: feelings are all that matter.… Expand

I'm not a fan of movies but.... wow! No one can make me love movies like dinsey pixar. Soul left me something that very few entertainment works have ever left me. This movie has a unique charm. This films message is simple, but complicated: live life to the fullest. Jamie Fox’s character goes through an emotional journey to not be told, but shown his purpose, all the while he unknowingly shows another theirs. If you have not seen this film, but have Disney+, it is a must-watch, and will be remembered alongside Pixar’s greatest.

Alongside the the story, the animation is top-notch, which is as to be expected from Pixar, and the performances from the cast are all sublime.

Soul once again raises the bar for what Pixar can do through animation and I highly anticipate their next project.… Expand
