I was really looking forward to this but I found the story lacking in both depth and logic. Visually lush, musically fantastic but it cannot hide a story that lacks originality, and a movie that tries way to hard to be charming.

This was not a good film. At times the plot felt empty, boring and lazy. This would be a great film for maybe older people.

The movie introduces a lot of threads and leaves many of them untied at the end and many that are tied are tied off in a “wrong” and unsatisfying way. And what about Lisa? She is Chekov’s gun. Expand

Terrible. Dragged. Boring. Hard to follow. 8 year old, 15 year old and 2 adults couldn't get through it. Great cast, bad movie.

The character and themes are not targeted at kids at all. I guess Pixar learnt that most of it's audience were adults anyway, so they forget what made them movies special for youngsters. Sure, the plot is interesting and very well acted and animated. Just make sure you watch it with the right audience, kids will be bored. Expand

Dud. Not a children’s movie. Animation was poor and story was off. Pixar needs to a shake up and clear why went straight to Disney+.

They obviously tried to repeat the success of "inside out" but in my opinion, it's a failure to launch. It's derivative, insipid, uninspired and boring. 2/10 for the voice acting.

The movie looks beautiful, and I thought the first minutes of it were brilliant, but for whatever reason Pixar decided to turn it into an even more conceptual version of Inside Out that's very tough to understand for kids. It's a shame because I think the message of the film is beautiful, but it would have meant much more if it was told using the real world and the human characters they're presenting to you instead of surreal concepts. All these concepts they introduce in this movie are there just to try the same thing Inside Out already tried and we already saw. And it just doesn't work for me. Expand

My kids preferred Cars. I'm not sure why Pixar thought making a film for kids about midlife crisis, existentialism and general meaning of life, with jazz and no child characters was a good idea. I'm not sure why Pixar thought making a film for kids about midlife crisis, existentialism and general meaning of life, with jazz and no child characters was a good idea. Each of our boys (8,6,2) drifted off to play with Lego etc, and they NEVER do that. There seemed to be very little to which they could relate. There are almost no children in the film, my kids aren't big on jazz, and it wasn't very colourful for large parts. There was a (quite sensible) talking cat and a bit where characters poop whole slices of pizza. They liked those bits. IMO Disney can't hold a flame to Miyazaki when it comes to the mystical and this film really proved the point. But compared to other Pixar offerings it doesn't have the charm of Up or the cleverness of Inside Out. But Soul's big failing is it just isn't very much fun. Expand

What a disappointment! A long winding boring story that had very few redeeming moments of joy. Save your time and re-watch one of classic Pixar movies instead.

The plot was as predictable as the trailer made it out to be and that I felt took away a lot from it overall. And the music didn't leave a lasting impression as other Disney films do. Also shockingly is that for a movie that is less than 90 minutes, It really dragged at times and hit far too many cliches over the course of the film. Expand

Movie is riddled with plot holes. I was really excited to see it, but was extremely let down.

A simple story with a touch of yellow psychology. The animation was very weak. It was weaker than Pixar's previous animations
