The movie is kind of forgettable and predictable in not a good way but at the same time I don't think it’s a piece of crap of a movie like many critics implied. I think some people are hypocritical when it comes to judging this one too harshly because so many MCU projects that are of the similar quality get praise. Also, this movie came out at the worst time possible when it sort of feels like a last breath of a dead franchise. I feel like this one could have benefited a lot by being longer and expanding on the family themes they tried to hang their emotional side of the movie on. Definitely, in the beginning there was a lack of that, of any character meaningful scenes. It started as a Saturday morning cartoon and ended as if there were 4 films before that established these characters.… Expand

I think it's OK, it has a generic story. It seems that the movie it's for kids, not the best super heroes movie but it's entertaining. If you're looking for a deep story, this movie is not for you. This is a better movie than all the recent MCU movies. Period. Better than Black Adam and first Shazam! I had so much fun and I freaking LOVE this movie!

I am not blaming anybody but the movie really lacked the dark tone a nemesis that the first one had leading onto this movie. I feel as though this was a wasted opportunity and hope the entire universe makes it into the gunn dc universe as it could benefit from it.… Expand

Definitely a fun movie and enjoyable throughout. The writing could have been a bit more logical and consistent with a few stumbles and missteps but it is not bad. This movie was delightful, epic and humorous. Zachary Levi did a tremendous job bring the Shazam we all know and love to life in such a fun and authentic way.

One of my complaints is that the ending is a bit of a cop out and it could have been done a bit better. Also some scenes go on for slightly too long although not TOO long imo

Also the CGI is amazing.

Could be a 9.5 if the certain scenes were shorter and the ending was slightly altered.… Expand

This movie was a fun time. A bit generic super hero film but it gets the job done. It still captures the same heart that the first one had and even had some dark moments as well. If your looking for a fun watch fury of the gods is for you.

Shazam 2 is so fun and entertaining. It's a must see! The CGI was great though yes, a bit wonky at times but the movie is so good I don't understand how it's flopping (due to bad marketing)

In some parts it was silly and pointless but it should be clear that this is a family film and they don't always have to make sense. Like Ant Man and The Wasp: Quantumania, I was afraid the SHAZAM! franchise would fall into the same trap with SHAZAM! Fury of the Gods, but luckily it actually kinda worked. The characters were as likable and fun as ever, the comedy landed a lot and the action and visual effects, while not groundbreaking, was as good as it needed to be. Zachary Levi was also acting way too childish, especially compared to when he was a normal teen as Billy. I thought this would falter at first, and the low critic score didn't get me more hopeful. I love to be wrong thought, as SHAZAM! Fury of the Gods is a fun movie that losses a lot of charm from the first one, but is still a good time that I would recommend. This didn't deserve a lower box office then Morbius.… Expand

Just a great as the first. Though the Darla pair. Both young and older about stole the movie. Perfect casting on the studios part. Nothing groundbreaking in this installment. But good and enjoyable. Fury Of The Gods was also pretty much the same like the first Shazam! with according to me an obvious better villain, it's still an entertaining fun soft movie overall, no big improvement from the first one but i do kinda like this one a bit more, from now the whole family involved and again better villain, with good performance by all the cast, i like the look of the monster creatures that they create, a very entertaining battle sequence, and nice little and powerful surprises at the end, Shazam! Fury Of The Gods is a good fun sequel overall.… Expand

My niece had the same opinion as me. The movie was as entertaining as it was stupid. Spoiler: it’s cameo especially is awkward and random.

Another movie with at least eight director-level collaborators: a 2nd unit director plus seven VFX directors one for each house working pre, post and during production. When so many people who love telling stories well collaborate, the result is almost always impressive on multiple levels. As regularly happens in pro reviews of most super hero movies, the Great Expectations pattern takes over. The final movie is criticized for what it is not; and, for what it could have been. This is the fast way to become a jaded and cynical movie reviewer. I recommend finding the moments which do work for you, try to ignore the rest on first viewing. As the negative pro reviews observe, Shazam 2 is very much a movie with a 2010 mindset, perseverating on familiar tropes which ran out of oomph a decade or more ago. I did not find Helen Mirren and Lucy Liu "bland." I did find the stereotyped limitations of their roles and dialog very 1990s. The most literate, considered pro reviews on S2 Ive seems so far are from Owen Gleiberman in Variety and Jacob Oller at Paste.… Expand

The first half of the movie was not as good as you would expect but the second half of the movie is where it pushed all the right buttons. One of the best movies I've seen this year. It's a shame almost no one saw this movie and I was waiting for it to come out and saw ZERO advertising anywhere. I really regret not seeing this in theatres; almost a perfect movie in so many ways.One of the best movies I've seen this year. Really a shame we might not get more of this incarnation of Shazam n' Fam. I don't know how so many critics got it wrong but as you can see by the 86% audience score on rotten tomatoes it clearly was a hit with the fans who actually did know it was coming out and managed to see it in theatres. I really hope we get another film or two or three from this series.… Expand
