Not a Nolan sycophant, but I have to be honest, this movie is damn good

"Oppenheimer" is an interesting cinematic work that brings an extraordinary experience to the audience. The musical score, composed by Ludwig Göransson, gives the story a deep emotional dimension. The beautiful cinematography presents a stunning visual picture, making this movie very enjoyable to watch.

However, even though this film offers a stunning cinematic experience, its duration of up to 3 hours can be a challenge for some viewers. Even so, "Oppenheimer" is still able to maintain its appeal and present an interesting story with elegance.

Overall, "Oppenheimer" is a cinematic work that deserves appreciation. Ludwig Goransson's musical score and gorgeous cinematography are the film's strong points, but it's worth admitting that its lengthy run can be a bit overwhelming.

It's very America. Not a lot seems to be happening, but there's a lot of noise and shaky cam at points they want you to think are intense.

The Nolan movie with the best directing and the most accomplished in general. There is a big improvment and it result in a true masterpiece in acting, directing and storytelling.
Brilliant.

What an incredible movie, it is 3 hours but it doesn't feel like 3 hours as you are transported into that world with those characters. You always want to feel what's next.

Mindblown (for the lack of a better word). Let this film and the book it is inspired by be a necessary and timely lesson in these times of black and white thinking. Let this film and the book it is inspired by be a necessary and timely lesson in these times of black and white thinking. Let us be critical of our leaders' ethics and listen to those who understand the science behind their work. And as always, let us not be deceived by history as it's told by the winners. Question what you're s-/told even when emotions run high. What a beautiful and multi-layered story on greed, power, complexity of ethics, exploitation, and - deep down - human ambition and destruction. Probably one of the best, if not the greatest, creations of Christopher Nolan that - I presume - will satisfy all film lovers. Very relevant, engaging, emotional, and nuanced film. Expand

Oppenheimer actually delivers and delivers big time. I have been Nolan fan since 2006 Prestige and even tho, not everything he makes is perfect, this one hits the home run.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I liked it but I think it's way too complex to try to cover Oppenheimer's psychological problems, the trials and his backstory in one film. Expand

Another cinematic masterpiece by Christopher Nolan.
Oppenheimer might be the best film I watched in a long, long time.

Very different than Nolan's recent films, especially the Sci-Fi ones, but shows that Nolan can master the Biopic/Drama genre just as well as he can any other genre he tried to tackle yet.

The film is 3-hours long but goes through very quickly and enjoyably. Without spoiling anything, the film presents important and very relevant subjects, and doing so while being non-stop entertainment and a comprehensive character study and a study of our society on a very high pace.

Without mentioning anything specific, there was one scene that caused almost every single person in the theatre to move nervously in the seats, non-stop for a long period of time, being one of the most intense scenes I ever watched in a movie and reminding me of the true power of the cinematic experience like no other movie did in recent years.

The year is only half-way through but right now this is my top pick for the upcoming awards season. Picture, Writing, Directing, Acting, Score-- Oppenheimer is a winner on all fronts. A rare feat for filmmaking and a salient reminder that cinema is not dead.

I highly recommend this film to everyone. Watched it once already, and going back to the theatre for at least a few more times soon.

Oppenheimer deserves the title of "masterpiece". It's Christopher Nolan's best film to date, a step into new territory for one of our finest filmmakers, and a film that will be etched in your memory.

Stop trolling and giving it a 0, youre ruining the movie's reputation. Someone said it gave it a 6/10 but they voted for a 0? Wtf????? Why not 6 like you said??? Are you trying to hurt this movie just because it wasn't perfect??? The gap between 0 and 6 is huge, do you really want to diminish the score that much ?? So much more than it actually deserves??? And dont pretend like you didnt know this was a biopic. It wasnt a "tiresome" or "uninteresting" movie, just grounded in reality as it is a biopic. It's the genre of the movie! You should have known that when you came in the theatre. Anyway, Nolan's style is still present. And the acting is marvelous, Murphy was very much in character. And yes, biopics contain the characters personal life. So, for anyone that reads this, if the audience score is anything below 9.5, DON'T TRUST IT!!!! Too many trolls on metacritic. Expand

And his inner workings as well. We get an eerily grim look at what it means to be The Father of the Atom Bomb. When it comes to the character of Oppenheimer nothing escapes this movie. Everything from the moral complexities to the politics is investigated to the last detail.

Which is also the slight problem this movie has. There is a lot of "time travel" in this movie. And oftentimes scenes are cut in a way that makes it feel like the characters are having conversations with each other through the fabric of time.

It speaks well into the idea of quantum mechanics. So in that respect it's spot-on for the theme of the movie. But it is also slightly confusing to follow along with it.

And ultimately that leaves about 1 third of the movie in a bit of a weird half-confusing / dull limbo. At least to me.

I'd have liked it to focus more on the mechanics of developing the bomb itself. It didn't exactly glance over it as much as it neglected to focus on it. The parts are there but it rarely goes beyond merely mentioning their breakthroughs in conversation until we get to the initial big boom.

And that's probably a fault of my own expecting these things to be elaborated upon. The movie is called Oppenheimer and not The Manhattan Project after all.

So a heads up if you, like me, expect it to focus on The Manhattan Project. It does, but it's only a relatively short part of the movie and it is deliberately focused on Oppenheimer's character more so than the bomb itself during these parts.
