This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. I watched it today in an IMAX cinema. It was a very nice film with extremely good video and audio quality. I liked how the story was told, but sometimes it gets a little confusing because there are many different people participating in the story.

I really appreciate that it's a film where you take away something informative rather than just being for entertainment. My favorite scene was the ending, where Oppenheimer talked with Einstein. They weren't sure if the detonation of the atomic bomb would trigger a chain reaction, causing the entire atmosphere to burn and end all life on earth. According to their calculations, the probability of this event was almost zero, and their calculations turned out to be correct; it didn't happen. However, after the detonations in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, Oppenheimer told Einstein that he thinks their calculations were wrong, and the development team had indeed created a chain reaction. This basically means that now everyone is trying to build a bigger bomb since the concept has proven its potential, which is a significant threat to human life.

Everyone was so captivated that there was pin drop silence in a fullhouse theatre no munching popcorn, no squeaky chairs nothing. That truly showcases the beauty of the movie. It's might sound generic but literally all aspects were great and work together so well collectively to tell the story beautifully the visuals, the music, the cinematography... Best biography I've seen hands downs, being historically accurate while also being so much fun and captivating is truly the beauty of Nolan's direction. I'm not being a fanboy but Nolan deserves all the credit here, most of the story is about a single person and he's the person of focus most of the time yet Nolan manages to keep everyone hooked for every single moment of the 3hours. Even after the movie ended I just sat there till after the end of credits and not because the movie felt incomplete but rather because it's truly complete and you're just sitting there thinking through it knowing what a great time you had and acknowledging that's it the movie has ended.

I feel the critique mostly comes from people who lack some basic understanding of the history of The Trinity project , the war and some basic concepts of the bomb.

Would highly recommend to watch veritasium's yt video about oppenheimer which helps a lot.

However, that dialogue is some of the most impactful dialogue in a major release in years. There's not much action, or focus on the bomb itself, but that's only to the benefit of the movie; it doesn't need any of those fancy effects, because the real impact comes from the psychological torment of the very idea of being literally "death, the destroyer of worlds." If you have an average attention span, watch this movie immediately (before it stops playing in theaters). Ending was the best ending to a film I've ever seen. 10/10 easy. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. J. Robert Oppenheimer, a name forever etched in the annals of history, is synonymous with both scientific brilliance and ethical contemplation. Often referred to as the "father of the atomic bomb," Oppenheimer's contributions to science, particularly his leadership during the Manhattan Project, have left an indelible mark on humanity's trajectory. His complex persona and the consequences of his work raise profound questions about the moral responsibilities of scientists and the implications of their discoveries.

Oppenheimer's scientific prowess was undeniable. His early academic pursuits led him to excel in theoretical physics, where he displayed an innate ability to grasp intricate concepts. His contributions to quantum mechanics and quantum field theory laid the groundwork for our understanding of subatomic phenomena. This deep understanding of physics ultimately led him to take a central role in the Manhattan Project during World War II, where he led a team of brilliant minds in developing the world's first atomic bomb.

The Manhattan Project was a scientific and engineering marvel but cast a long shadow over Oppenheimer's legacy. The ethical dilemma he faced – creating a weapon capable of unimaginable destruction – haunted him throughout his life. The visceral impact of witnessing the destructive power of the bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki weighed heavily on his conscience, leading him to famously quote the Bhagavad Gita: "I am become Death, the destroyer of worlds." This haunting introspection showcased the deep moral considerations that scientific advancements can demand.

Beyond the Manhattan Project, Oppenheimer's contributions continued to resonate. He played a crucial role in shaping post-war science policy and education in the United States. His tenure as the chairman of the General Advisory Committee of the Atomic Energy Commission allowed him to advocate for the peaceful use of nuclear technology and to emphasize the importance of international cooperation to prevent nuclear proliferation.

In addition to his scientific and policy contributions, Oppenheimer's legacy is defined by his enigmatic personality. He was a man of contradictions – charismatic yet reserved, a visionary yet plagued by doubt. His struggles with political scrutiny during the McCarthy era showcased the potential consequences of being too far ahead of one's time, as he faced accusations of communist sympathies. This chapter in his life underscored the complex interplay between science, politics, and personal conviction.

In conclusion, J. Robert Oppenheimer's legacy is a tapestry woven from his scientific brilliance, ethical introspection, and complex personal journey. His contributions to physics and his leadership during the Manhattan Project pushed the boundaries of human knowledge but also forced society to grapple with the ethical implications of scientific progress. Oppenheimer's life serves as a reminder that scientific discovery is not devoid of ethical considerations and that the choices made by scientists can shape the course of history. His story challenges us to reflect on the responsibility of advancing the frontiers of knowledge and technology.

In a world where scientific breakthroughs continue to transform our existence, the life and legacy of J. Robert Oppenheimer offer a timeless lesson in the enduring interplay between human ingenuity and the moral dimensions of progress.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Oppenheimer is Nolan's most important work and the most influential film of the last two decades, and although it tells a historical story in the past, the main message of the film is about the future, which according to Nolan can be very scary, and this future is not controlled by people and scientists, but by the government. rulers and leaders of the country
In other parts, we can mention the wonderful acting of Cillian Murphy and Matt Damon, the magnificent music of the director and the perfect script of Oppenheimer. Along with Inception and The Dark Knight, Oppenheimer has the best ending in Nolan's works.
Nolan is a director who will never be forgotten and has created the most lasting works of the last two decades of cinema.
And finally, it should be said that Nolan does not show Oppenheimer as a hero, nor does he make him a saint, but shows him as a completely gray person whose greed for power and great fame and lust for science made him abandon ethics.

Robert Oppenheimer, the brilliant physicist who led the Manhattan Project, which developed the atomic bomb. Although this film details that effort, there's a wider story about politicians' efforts to undermine his achievements with accusations of his Communist leanings. Murphy grounds the story with an intense characterization and he's surrounded by an impressive cast of strong performances. But this is really director Christopher Nolan's show. His manipulation of media to create powerful moments is undeniable and there are several memorable sequences like that here. While the complex story is always compelling, it could have been a shorter than 3 hours and Nolan's investigation leans more on the cerebral than the emotional. As a result, this landmark story is told with powerful facts and skilled filmmaking. Expand

Thankfully, while the message and thematics are dire, the experience itself is still nonetheless absorbing and even exhilarating at times. The Trinity test sequence itself is worth the price of admission alone. For me, though, I think the most impressive feat to marvel at in this is that of Cillian Murphy's lead turn as the titular physicist in question. Without a doubt, this is a career-defining performance for him and I absolutely think it should be in consideration for the highest of honors, come awards season. Massive kudos to Nolan, as always, for making films that beg to be seen on the largest of screens. This is, most definitely, another one of those -- one I'm excited to watch again. Expand

Directed with great flare by Christopher Nolan, J. Robert Oppenheimer (played to brilliant perfection by Nolan regular Cillian Murphy) and his life and legacy are chronicled here down to the finest details, from his early years spent learning and teaching quantum physics to the inception of his Manhattan Project during WWII to his eventual fallout with the U.S. government following his dropping of the atomic bombs on the Japanese cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki due to the immense moral pressure and guilt he faced in the hundreds of thousands of lives he felt responsible in destroying, along with his haunted past and suspected communist ties. Where do I even begin with this colossal achievement of a film!? For starters, since this is Nolan we're talking about here, this is no traditional by the numbers by biopic by any means! No, this is moreso an intimate and very internal and personal look inside the mind of one of the most brilliant yet tortured minds in our world's history. This film DOES NOT shy away from showing us exactly what's going on inside Oppenheimer's mind from start to finish, and there's A LOT of inner turmoil and tension, as shown by the constant images of friction, explosions, and mathematics that race through his mind. Another creative technical choice made on Nolan's part that reminded me quite a bit of one of his earliest efforts 'Memento', is the constant shift between color and black and white sequences (the color scenes being objective and from Oppenheimer's perspective, and the black and white scenes being subjective and based within historical fact.) I will say however that a common complaint about Nolan's recent films that I for once agreed with this time is that it was far too loud and difficult to understand the dialogue in certain scenes, which is a bit disappointing, because this film races a mile a minute with its dialogue-heavy structure for practically its entire three-hour runtime, making it almost fly right on by for me! As for the performances, if Murphy isn't given his first overdue Oscar nomination for this film come next year, I'm gonna throw hands, because he was ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL! He's always been talented and criminally underrated, but my God, if this performance of his doesn't get the Academy's attention, nothing will! As for the massive supporting cast, it's so difficult to single out so many people that I want to single out, but for starters, Robert Downey Jr. as the opposing Atomic Energy Commission chairman Lewis Strauss stood out so incredibly well here with his commanding screen presence. I'd say he's pretty overdue for another Oscar nomination as well, and this film would be the perfect one to give it to him for! Other notable players here include Emily Blunt as wife Kitty Oppenheimer and Florence Pugh as Oppenheimer's mistress Jean Tatlock (both of whom were criminally underutilized for this film), Matt Damon as General Leslie Groves, Josh Hartnett, Casey Affleck, Rami Malek, Kenneth Branagh, hell even Josh Peck! The list goes on and on! Overall, while there are some sound issues in a handful of scenes, the film moves at an almost breakneck pace in spite of its dialogue-heavy delivery, though I wasn't quite as blown away with it as I'd hoped I'd be. However, I was certainly floored in virtually every other way by this film, from the camerawork to the score to the mile a minute dialogue! While it's still not Nolan's best film in my eyes (I don't think he'll ever top 'Interstellar' or 'The Dark Knight' personally), it isn't at all a stretch to call it for what it truly is: his magnum opus. Nolan’s three-hour opus about the life of Dr. J. Robert Oppenheimer (Cillian Murphy), director of the Manhattan Project (and more commonly known as the Father of the Atomic Bomb), provides viewers with a comprehensive biography of this brilliant and thoughtful yet often-inscrutable and naïve physicist who took on a patently dangerous venture that left him morally conflicted about the nature of his creation. The story, which spans several decades of the scientist’s life, chronicles his development of “the gadget” and the fallout he suffered as a consequence of his left-wing political leanings and his efforts to keep the released nuclear genie from getting out of control. The film is admittedly a little overlong and probably could have used some editing in the opening and final hour, but, in the interest of telling the whole story of Oppenheimer’s odyssey, its length is understandable (and, consequently, justifiable). The picture’s production values are all top shelf, especially its brilliant cinematography, stirring original score and superb sound quality, an element that truly leaves audiences with a bona fide visceral experience. Moreover, the narrative is skillfully and eloquently brought to life by this offering’s outstanding ensemble cast, including Murphy, Matt Damon, Tom Conti, Benny Safdie, Emily Blunt, Florence Pugh, Gary Oldman, Rami Malek, and, especially, Robert Downey Jr., who delivers a stellar, award-worthy supporting performance showing acting chops that I never knew he possessed. “Oppenheimer” is easily the best film of the summer movie season, if not all of 2023 thus far. It packs a potent punch and delivers a message that we can all never hear too often, poignantly reminding us all of the importance of not falling prey to the same Promethean burden that Oppenheimer was forced to shoulder. This is an amazing character study about what it is to be a theoretical scientist in academia as well as a project manager for one of the most important secret projects in modern history. Robert Downey, Jr., is remarkable as a fragile man propelled along by ambition and revenge. All the acting is outstanding and the soundtrack moves the audience's emotions to crescendos. I took my grandsons (14 and 16 years old). They couldn't stop talking about the story, the characters, and the moviemaking. I appreciated the black/white device which defined the time jump and allowed the story to be told in "real time" and in "past time." Really a phenomenal piece of filmmaking by writer and director Christopher Nolan, the story centered around the Father of the Atomic Bomb and leader of The Manhattan Project at Los Alamos, J. Robert Oppenheimer, played to perfection by actor Cillian Murphy. Worth noting, as well is the extraordinary performance by actor Robert Downey Jr. as Lewis Strauss. It wouldn't surprise me if both actors receive Oscar nominations for their character portrayals, they are that good! Also great in supporting roles, Emily Blunt (Kitty Oppenheimer), Matt Damon (General Leslie Groves), Jason Clarke (Roger Robb) and an appearance by Gary Oldman as President Truman. Returning as Nolan's DOP is Hoyte van Hoytema (Interstellar, Dunkirk, Tenet) whose cinematography in Oppenheimer is breathtaking. Love the new black and white photography created especially for the film, it is sharp, clean and crisp. Just like in Nolan's 2000 film, Memento, the black and white is juxtaposed with color, perfectly utilized for past and present scenes and as a way to interpret the lead character's moral struggles and ambiguity. I had no problem with the 3 hour runtime, dialogue was intelligent and the film moves at a good pace thanks to streamlined editing by Jennifer Lame (Tenet) and a strong, haunting score by Ludwig Göransson (Tenet). Oppenheimer is quite the triumph for Chris Nolan. Expand

Strap yourselves in, because this ride is 3 hours long and has no action scenes like you might be used to from Nolan films. That being said, Nolan does it again!

This movie is a visual, audio, and acting masterpiece, and lives up to any hope that a true Nolan fan has. More so, it gives the audience a deep dive into the morality of the atomic bomb. Was the atomic bomb a terrible idea, or did it save the world from any future wars? This film aims to answer that.

Oppenheimer never loses or disengages you throughout its pulverizing 3 hours. It never ceases to give you something you want to see more of. Nolan is playing the game at his highest level. Sometimes the pacing does work against, but never to the films detriment or effect. The captivation never makes you doubt. It's done so well, and captured with such virtuosity. And leaves you with a sense of haunting bewilderment as Nolan teases the idea of what could destroy the world. Maybe his most provocative film yet, maybe his best, but certainly the kind of movie I've waited to see from him for a long time. I would've been okay for the pacing to be stretched out in a 4 hour movie. The quality, performances and filmmaking make it worth it. But the 3hr bombshell I'll accept. Expand

Oppenheimer is very, very good and is worth your time. The film is a touching, down to earth, and at times horrifying delve into the human psyche and our species unending pursuit of knowledge. I will say that, despite a three hour runtime, the pacing of the movie is constantly moving with little breathing room. I understand why the movie has such fast pacing, but it could be a bit overwhelming for some - especially when combined with the films unending and bombastic soundtrack. Really, other than the aforementioned pacing, and a singular scene at the beginning of the film that - without spoiling anything - I believe was a bit on the nose, Oppenheimer is an excellent film. If people come out of the theater thinking that this is Christopher Nolan's cinematic masterpiece, I wouldn't be surprised. I don't want to say much else because you should absolutely experience the movie yourself. Watch Oppenheimer. Expand

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Oppenheimer" was excellent. All of his strengths & weaknesses are presented in roughly chronological order, with flashbacks when perspective is needed.
He had a disconnect between himself & his ego. His attempt to poison his college professor puts this on display. This was to carry over with his involvement in inventing the atomic bomb; he went from a frat boy boasting of his achievement to something that ended up around his neck.

He was a womanizer, too. Driving his first wife to suicide after having an affair with his second. But you best believe Hollywood played up this angle as graphically as possible. Then there's the product placement; J & B scotch. But none of this harmed the movie too much. Robert Downy jr. plays up the villain real well as Senator Strauss. His speech about securing power was chilling. Matt Damon's turn as general Grove as simultaneously encouraging & prodding shows his skills as an actor. Cillian Murphy was great as J. Robert. Simultaneously brilliant & naive.
The ending was surprisingly upbeat. I'm posting a full review on Megacritic ⚡⚡⚡

A movie that isn't afraid to let the audience think for themselves, and offers no ready answers to the moral and ethical dilemmas presented. The film did not come into any conclusions for you wheter or not Oppenheimer was truly remorseful and to what extent - nor if he should be.

The non-linear storytelling was easy and logical to follow, science was made easy to understand. Historical accuracy was on point, and the movie paid great attention to the global geopolitical situation that guided the urgency for creating an atomic bomb. The ramifications of what this group of scientists achieved will be felt by all future generations, and I enjoyed the trust put on audiences; how there was no handholding in pointing out how and why that is. A lesser director would've painted scenes of potential disastrous outcomes just to shove this point across.

Sadly, Oppenheimer as an individual did not receive such a deep analysis in this film, more emphasis was put onto his legacy and title as the Father of the Atomic Bomb. We did not see how he was as a friend or a father, and the glimpses we saw him as a husband was based on the limited historical facts that weren't expanded upon. Very bare bones writing on the human aspects of characters, but it was elated by a stellar cast. In true Nolan style, the characters were clinical and the focus was on their intellectuality rather than their humanity. Makes sense in a movie focusing so heavily on the science, but what truly would connect an audience to characters is the glimpse we might see into the very human soul behind all their achievements.

The visual were magnificent. Stylistic choices were well-thought and elevated the storytelling. The mixture of black-and-white with colour worked supremely well, as well as the stylized scenes whenever we jumped into a Oppenheimer's point of view. A very down to earth style of film, simple without needless pomp where it wasn't necessary. That simplicity made the actual bomb scene stand out all the more.

For me, the audio design was the star of this movie. So much to read to in the audio, and propably need another 2 viewings to properly appreciate it in words. The audio mixing is also the best yet in a Nolan film. His films are notorious for being so full of sound that the dialogue is drowned out (I'm looking at you, Tenet!). But in this film there was only one part where dialogue was hard to hear clearly, and that was the first few minutes of the film.

Wish I could give this a 9,5. For me, it's not quite worth a 10, but 9 seems inadequate.

It's growing, slowly and steadily, sprouting into different corners of his mind - infecting him. He's being tortured by it. In one corner, he has the power to end World War II and save countless lives in the process. In the other corner, his findings mark a turning point for humanity. He's unleashed the most terrifying weapon ever conceived. And Oppenheimer knows it's power. He knows the threat it poses. But this seed, this plant in his mind is telling him that at all costs, he has to end the war. And that overpowers him.

It's an epic, a historical epic at that, but a visual marvel and a technical masterpiece nonetheless. But as much as Nolan prepares you for the spectacle that will follow, nothing can prepare you for the character study you get to witness. Headed by the performance of the year from Cillian Murphy, Oppenheimer never ceases in his relentless advance to horrify you. He finds humanity in conversations with peers and love interests, but he's being destroyed, corrupted by his own mind. A ferocious battle takes place throughout the movie, but it's not in the warzone, it's inside the thoughts of the leading man. He's under an enormous amount of stress that nobody on the face of the current planet can realise. It's not possible to perceive this man's life. Being suddenly wrapped up in a ridiculous plot to build a machine that can split and atom in two. Just picture an atom. You can't possibly. It's inconceivably small, nobody has ever seen one. And he's trying to harness the power of that process to kill hundreds of thousands of people. That should give you can idea of the inhumanity of this film.

Which brings me neatly on to my final point on the writing. You'd think a film about Oppenheimer, the man who created the bomb that was unleashed onto Hiroshima and Nagasaki, would fixate heavily on those two events. It doesn't, and that was a delightful surprise to me. Everyone knows the destruction caused by the bomb in those cities. But to truly get us into the mind of Oppenheimer, we're not allowed to see it. Because Oppenheimer wouldn't have. He could only imagine the event, and I believe that would horrify him more than anything else. Imagine you've built the bomb. You can witness the test, but you can't see the results. You know what you've made will cause death to the fullest extent, and I can only imagine how much absolute pain that would cause you. I've never watched a proper documentary on Oppenheimer. I know who he is and what he's done, but I had no perspective on his life at all. In 3 hours, Nolan has told me everything I need to know about him. It's a testament to him as a brilliant director and screenwriter, but it's a testament to Cillian Murphy in equal fashion.

It would be an understatement to say that Murphy 'goes on a rollercoaster of emotions' throughout the duration of Oppenheimer. It's more like, if you put him on a rollercoaster, removed all safety gear, fired him into space and made him scale Mount Everest, all in an hour. By the end what he's showing can't even be defined as emotions. It's something nobody other than him has experienced. You look at Oppenheimer and see a man contorted with grief, guilt and riddled still with the same moral questions from 20 years prior. It's as if he's not even present at the meetings. He's a shell of a human. And the fact that Cillian does all this while giving complex lectures about quantum physics, the politics of the project, and surviving on a single almond is just phenomenal. I know that DiCaprio probably gives an immense performance later in the year in "Killers of the Flower Moon", but please, Academy, please give it to Cillian, he **** deserves it. The whole cast deserves an Oscar to be honest. Robert Downey Jr. was note perfect. Absolutely the star of the show in the scenes without Oppy. And Emily Blunt too, what a performance. Especially that one scene, which, if you've seen the movie, you'll know what I'm referring to when I say it was exceptional. It's just a genius movie all-round, suffering from a few pacing issues at the start and towards the end, but everything else is phenomenal. The sound was stunning, the sets, costume and makeup were all historically accurate as far as I could tell. Just impeccable. Thank you, Nolan. Perhaps one of the only filmmakers still around where you just know every single one of his movies that comes out will be top notch. Without fail, not a single miss in his filmography. I'm excited for Scorsese and Villeneuve's projects this year as well, because they are the only ones, along with Nolan, that I can rely on to give me a masterpiece. Tarantino also gets the same treatment from me, but no movies this year from him unfortunately.

Already booked to rewatch this in IMAX in a few days. This is just a regular viewing, I can only imagine how amazing an IMAX one will be!

Amazing.

I was unsure if Nolan could get me again because my experience with Dunkurk and Tenet - his most recent movies - was not great. Fortunately, Oppenheimer is much more than I expected.

Even being an unknown genre to Nolan, the way he conducts it is outstanding. Watching almost all of his films makes the experience even better because you can notice all of Nolan`s signatures. So, 3h of movie. Is it tiring somehow?

No. I got hooked on every single minute of it. Not only 'cause I was super interested in the subject. The dialog is really good, and if you like political matters, this is a field day for you. Along it, you have memorable performances from all cast, a magistral OST - that sounds amazing on cinema - and crazy photography with practical effects. Sounds scary 'cause it really is.

All that combined with a script that plays with time to create tension and man... you got one of the bests movies of the year. What a time to be alive. Also, I cannot forget to mention how masterfully Nolan can use silence as an instrument of terror. if you watch it, you know exactly what I am talking about.

As the movie went on it became better and better. Its a Nolan film and with that means that nothing in this movie is going to be simple and the immediate launch into the different timelines of Oppenheimers life I imagine was a lot for much of the audience. However once we reached the middle it all became so clear. As the movie goes on I just felt everything clicking into place and the more I watched the more entertained I was. It's a great film and if anyone is on the fence about seeing it or maybe walked out early on because they did not fully grasp everything happening. I beg you to watch it in its entirety and you will not regret it. Expand

gripping, suspenseful, actors and cillian Murphy played great. It would have been a better movie for me if they had shown hiroshima and nagasaki as the atomic bomb scene. Other than that it's an excellent movie. I recommend.

The movie is well paced and it really doesn't feel 3 hours long. Great directing, great acting and superb sound design. The black and white scenes work great.

It's sad that people would prefer to watch that awful sexist ideologized hateful movie with a deceitful trailer like Barbie. Go watch Oppenheimer or Mission Impossible 7, those 2 are the good movies right now.

Fascinating and refined on a formal and narrative level, the film reflects clearly, precisely and lucidly on the ambiguous relationship between Science, Ethics and Power and the manipulation of information. Not a Nolan sycophant, but I have to be honest, this movie is damn good

"Oppenheimer" is an interesting cinematic work that brings an extraordinary experience to the audience. The musical score, composed by Ludwig Göransson, gives the story a deep emotional dimension. The beautiful cinematography presents a stunning visual picture, making this movie very enjoyable to watch.

However, even though this film offers a stunning cinematic experience, its duration of up to 3 hours can be a challenge for some viewers. Even so, "Oppenheimer" is still able to maintain its appeal and present an interesting story with elegance.

Overall, "Oppenheimer" is a cinematic work that deserves appreciation. Ludwig Goransson's musical score and gorgeous cinematography are the film's strong points, but it's worth admitting that its lengthy run can be a bit overwhelming.

Excellent film by Nolan and Murphy, RDJ also great in it, the production design is fantastic as always in a Nolan film, only flaws i could find was the overly long runtime and also the third act was a bit off for me

I felt tense/on edge throughout the whole movie, which is a big accomplishment for a movie like this. The soundtrack, sound effects, and editing all play a big part in helping build tension throughout the movie. The Trinity test was well done, but the best scene of the movie was Oppenheimer's speech in the gymnasium, as well as the interrogation scene.

Overall the movie does a good job of examining what Oppenheimer was dealing with, both morally and politically. Murphy is great as Oppenheimer, but Downey Jr. steals the show in the last third of the movie as Lewis Strauss. It is an incredibly serious and dark movie, and does a good job of bringing you into considering the ramifications of the nuclear arms race and nuclear holocaust. There are minor issues with the sound mixing where the soundtrack was blasting over the dialogue, but this seemed to only be in the beginning of the movie. People who are interested in politics, geopolitics, and/or history will probably enjoy this movie more than others, but you need to pay close attention to the fast-paced dialogue from the very beginning or you can get temporarily lost.

Cillian Murphy knows how to carry the film very well. Another highlight of this production is its photography, Van Hoytema does a great job. Something that disadvantaged the film is its duration, I think that people who don't like three-hours movies are not going to like how Oppenheimer develops. Apart from Nolan's great direction, something in which this production stands out is its cast, they are all splendid. Emily Blunt gives a performance worthy of an Oscar nomination. Expand
