Nolan really put effort into this film, it's a journey into the troubled life of Robert Oppenheimer and as his greatest creation was also his downfall, the various timeline switches in the film were very well done and lead to a political chase at the last breathtaking hour. This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. One of the greatest movies I have ever seen

It poses so many moral dilemmas and questions and has 2 of the greatest scenes in cinema, those being the bomb testing and the scene where he is speaking to an audience only to be haunted by the death of those in Hiroshima. My one complaint is that the twist villain kind of seemed to come out of nowhere and didn't add much to the plot.

It is shocking that people are still considering ATSV and barbie to win best picture when this masterpiece exists. go watch it NOW.

A long immersive historical drama.

The combination of brilliant director Christopher Nolan and consummate master actors create an impressive masterpiece that elevates the cinematic art form above its past. "Oppenheimer" is an epic biographical picture that not only reveals the life of J. Robert Oppenheimer before us, but also makes the viewer think about deep questions of science, ethics and human destiny.

The cast of the movie, led by the magnificent Killian Murphy, embodies the characters with unprecedented conviction. Murphy recreates J. Robert with such vividness that his emotions and inner monologue seem to be intertwined with the soul of the brilliant scientist. Robert Downey Jr. as Strauss brings depth and intensity to the movie, creating a compelling chemistry between the characters.

Nolan once again demonstrates his incredible skills in creating stunning visual compositions. From the mushroom cloud scenes after the Trinity bomb test, to delving into the complex ethical dilemmas of building an atomic bomb. Each frame reveals deep meaning and evokes inner resonances. Visual effects become an integral part of the story, immersing the viewer in historical moments and making them experience the emotions of the characters.

The soundtrack, which organically complements each scene, gives the movie additional depth and emotional intensity. Magnificent musical support allows the viewer to immerse even more into the world of "Oppenheimer" and feel its intriguing atmosphere.

Nolan, like a virtuoso artist, plays with the chronology and structure of the movie, creating a fascinating journey through times and events. The beginning, which seems a bit slow, turns out to be strategically important to the development of the plot and reveals it in a new way.

"Oppenheimer" is not just a movie, but an intellectual and emotional journey. It is a work of art that adds to an unforgettable cinematic experience and leaves a deep mark on the soul of every viewer. Christopher Nolan reaffirms his status as a great director, and "Oppenheimer" becomes a shining jewel of Hollywood.

Christopher Nolan has once again delivered an awe-inspiring cinematic experience that leaves the audience spellbound from start to finish.

Casting Cillian Murphy as Robert Oppenheimer was a stroke of genius. His portrayal of the conflicted scientist was both nuanced and emotionally charged. He brilliantly captured Oppenheimer's intellect, determination, and moral dilemmas, making the character come alive on the screen. Murphy delivers an Oscar-worthy performance. Also, Robert Downey Jr as Lewis Strauss did an excellent performance. This is by far Downey's best performance, and he also deserves an Oscar nomination. The supporting cast is equally praiseworthy, with outstanding performances from Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, and Florence Pugh.

From the first frame, the film immerses its audience in a spellbinding narrative that perfectly balances historical accuracy and captivating storytelling. The attention to detail in depicting the era is unparalleled, transporting viewers back to the 1940s and the intensity of the Manhattan Project. The meticulous recreation of the Los Alamos laboratory and the wartime atmosphere adds an authentic touch, making the viewers feel like eyewitnesses to a defining moment in history.

The cinematography deserves special commendation, as it brilliantly captures both the beauty of the New Mexico landscape and the intensity of the laboratory's scientific endeavor. The haunting musical score adds an extra layer of depth, heightening the emotional impact of critical moments throughout the movie.

"Oppenheimer" stands as a testament to the power of cinema to educate, entertain, and provoke introspection. It expertly delves into the complex interplay of science, politics, and human morality, reminding the profound implications that scientific discoveries can have on the world.

Christopher Nolan has once again proven why he is one of the greatest directors of our time. Brilliantly written, impeccably directed, and expertly performed, the film leaves an indelible impression that will stay with viewers long after leaving the theater.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This was a very powerful film, arguably one of the most important messages ever made for any movie. The film also had a very powerful anti-Nationalist scene later on in the bleachers after the test bomb was detonated, it could be viewed as a warning, against what the power of the Atomic bomb could have done to America. It isn't really a time to be gloating about the power we used, but rather the implications of the inevitable arms race that resulted.

The film was powerful because it presents events that occurred in history 'as is', but also looks to the future- with a grim warning. All too often we have forgotten the dangers of what the post WWII Cold War era brought to the world in today's world 2023, but the danger is as real and present as it ever was now, as it was then. And the movie does such a excellent job showcasing that danger with a powerful and everlasting message

The message and themes of Oppenheimer will stay with you long after the credits roll. It is a beautiful and dark film. But one for the ages. With a director that is better than 99% of the rest of what comes out of Hollywood, one of the last true great Hollywood Directors to make a movie about so important of a Historical character and event in history.

Go see this movie, it will be perhaps one of the most important ones you will have ever seen.

The final cut manages to stick the landing, even with expectations reaching critical mass. Although I was confused why Scarecrow was never mentioned by name, or why he never even put on his burlap mask once. Are you trying to hurt this movie just because it wasn't perfect??? The gap between 0 and 6 is huge, do you really want to diminish the score that much ?? So much more than it actually deserves??? And dont pretend like you didnt know this was a biopic. It wasnt a "tiresome" or "uninteresting" movie, just grounded in reality as it is a biopic. It's the genre of the movie! You should have known that when you came in the theatre. Anyway, Nolan's style is still present. And the acting is marvelous, Murphy was very much in character. And yes, biopics contain the characters personal life. So, for anyone that reads this, if the audience score is anything below 9.5, DON'T TRUST IT!!!! Too many trolls on metacritic. Expand

Cillian Murphy and RDJ both produce career defining performances and are shoe ins for Oscar nominations at the very least. However, the performance I found the most powerful was Emily Blunt's, she didn't have the screen time of Cillian or RDJ but used each second just as well and may have the most memorable and powerful scene of the entire film. The message conveyed is not only conveyed masterfully, but might actually be the best movie I've ever seen. One of the most essential parts of the movie is how it takes a deep dive into Oppenheimer's own thoughts, the choices he had to make, and especially explores his fears. The behaviors he exhibited and the choices he had to make really make you question if he did the best he could and ultimately if he made the right, moral choices.

The film does an excellent job of showing both Oppenheimer's personal life and his work on the Manhattan Project. The different people involved in the project and their contributions were also represented well. The movie beautifully shows the development of the Manhattan Project and the climatic Trinity Test.

Something that really gripped me during my viewing was the silence exhibited after the flash of the nuclear bomb went off. Never have I sensed such a quiet crowd in a movie theater. The way Nolan captured us all in this moment is something to marvel at.

In terms of actual performance, Cillian Murphy, the lead actor, does an amazing job as Oppenheimer, showing all the different emotions of the character and exhibiting perfect emotional delivery of his character. The other actors also do a great job, adding more depth to the story.

Throughout my viewing, I could not ignore the reminder of the danger of nuclear weapons present throughout the movie. It reminded me how dangerous nuclear war could be, and most hauntingly, that it is not an event in the past, but rather something still dictating our world today.

For me, "Oppenheimer" is much more separate as a piece of cinema compared to other films as it feels like it really communicates a message vital to how we live our lives today. While other movies deal with real themes too, the way "Oppenheimer" addresses nuclear war all throughout the movie compels me and communicates to me in a way like no other. For these reasons, I legitimately believe this is Christopher Nolan's best work thus far, and is the best movie I've ever seen, and some may argue it may even be the best movie of the 21st Century thus far.

A biopic just can't get any better. RDJ has the best character arc, Emily is an absolute fire-cracker. Matt Damon is good, but I am pretty sure he can be so much better. Rami Malek stole the climatic scene. There are no words in any language to describe what Chris Nolan, Hoyte van Hoytema and Ludwig did for this movie. The whole movie as beautifully chaotic as it is outright haunting.

My only regret is I watched Barbie right after Oppenheimer. All the feelings i came out with after watching Oppenheimer were replaced with pure anger while watching Barbie. Barbie is a pathetic movie trying to cash in on the moronic 'woke' movement, pushing women to hate on men.

Please do not do the mistake of watching Barbie or any movie for that matter after Oppenheimer. Let the movie stay with you for a while. Depending on how good is Killers of the flower moon, Cillian and RDJ are lock for Oscars.

Being based on the book "American Prometheus," we get the story of J. Robert Oppenheimer who was brought on by Lewis Strauss to helm the Manhattan Project that led to the creation of the atomic bomb but Nolan's focus was on the mam himself and not the bomb which proves to be brilliant as we get a deep and haunting character study of the aftermath and see how this action led to not only thousands of deaths in Hiroshima and Nagasaki, but the guilt and weight that the "man who moved the earth" was forced to live with. Cillian Murphy as Oppenheimer proves to be the best casting choice made for this biopic as his eyes in close-ups tell you everything you need to know about what he's thinking, but in addition this brilliant actor conveys so much conviction and deep regret for all of his skeletons that you're left with a broken man who started off doing something monumental with ambitious intentions but slowly realizes what he's just actually done to the rest of the world, but Robert Downey Jr. as Strauss has my lock already for Best Supporting Actor with what could be his best career work as a man who proves to be more than an antagonist in this film.

Nolan's love for practical effects sees him deliver a truly monumental achievement as there's not one single shot of CGI in this film, which is combined with some gorgeous cinematography from Hoyte Van Hoytema but Ludwig Gorranson's music for this film might be his best ever as it cues and swells all throughout the 3-hour runtime and makes this film feel like a thriller and horror movie because of how intense it can get depending on the scene and characters it's focused on ay the moment. Emily Blunt might also get a Beat Supporting Actress nomination as her work as Oppenheimer's wife Kitty sees her as a woman who endures just as much of the pain her husband does as she tries her best to support him even when the walls are closing in and her scene in the final act of this film during an interrogation is just spectacular, and the number of actors in this film is just beyond ridiculous ranging from Matt Damon, Florence Pugh, Jack Quaid, Josh Hartnett, Rami Malek, Alden Ehrenreich, Matthew Modine, Jason Clarke, Josh Peck, and many many more. With this being a 3-hour runtime, the film feels as if it's missing 30 minutes somewhere as it flows better than most films of this length as the dialogue and characters keep you hooked within the story especially as the story is weaving between the color scenes which are completely subjective to Oppenheimer while the black and white are objective to everyone else, but the strength is how much this film paints the man as a deeply complex character with his past demons exposed but also someone who understood the repercussions and fallout from the contributions to something revolutionary and I honestly can't wait to revisit this again. Nolan proves yet again why he's one of the most important filmmakers working today as he made a mature and profound dramatic biopic about one of the most important men in American and world history.

My first ever Christopher Nolan movie in cinema and surely it didn't disappoint. It had a bit of everything from romance, suspense, drama and even what they say it was truly horrifying. Surely set to become one of the iconics.
When we talk about cinematography we have to talk about Nolan and so this movie had it all, some exceptional shots and most of them including Cillian Murphy. The two colour tones provide an immersive experience like never before sort of taking you back in time and experiencing it all yourself. Nolan has done such a good job that I'm literally lost for words, can't explain what I've just seen, it's more than just a movie.
You can really tell it's my first movie review. Well then comes Cillian Murphy's brilliant performance as it was truly expected. Has to win an Oscar I'm sure, this performance was truly backed up by what RDJ did. THAT was pure acting, which I'm more sure than Cillian that he'll win an Oscar. Even the side roles including Rami Malek, Emily Blunt, Matt Damon and Tom Conti showed that they're A tier actors taking this film to a whole new level. And then talk about Ludwig Goransson, he has just done an excellent job, even though he had a whole lot of pressure on his shoulders taking Zimmer's role in hand and he didn't let us down. Every scene had its own moment delving you into it's beauty. Well for me the peak was the music from THAT trinity test scene. That scene would take a whole lot of speaking but boy was that good. How do I even put this that this movie was simply outstanding. 9.5/10 from me.

Além disso, a cinematografia é deslumbrante.

COM-PELL-ING

Nolan shows, once again, that he is one of the greatest story tellers and film makers of our time. The screenplay brings everything together and it makes a great job of making something that is stereotypically difficult to understand, such as a little thing as theoretical and nuclear phyics, as something that a general audience member could consume by explaining things via marbles and whatnot. On the contrary and simultaneously, Nolan masters the art of plot movement with high stakes scene choreography from different moments in time. Having this and Barbie in theatres at the same time reminds why cinema truly matters and that all good story telling needs is just good story telling, no matter the genre or medium. This movie was the **** bomb (pun intended accidentally on purpose)
