I've been waiting this movie. Finally!!! It was a worth of wait. Cant get enough how Joe Taslim as a Bi-Han / Sub-Zero bringing this character perfectly. Played every game, watched every movie. This movie has a fun, believable plot. Cast was awesome, especially Kano! Would have liked to see him and Johnny Cage fight over Sonya, bring Kano back. I thought this movie was awesome. It's different from the original, but that doesn't mean it's bad.

Sure it was a bit silly at times(dragon tattoo), but this was an enjoyable movie setting up a film universe. Hope to see more. Sub zero vs scorpion was great. People keep talking about the plot weaknesses and lack of character development, etc...

This movie was to set the stage for a huge franchise. The actors were all signed for FOUR follow-up films at minimum if this was a success.

After 25 years of waiting, can't you all see that five films would provide more than enough time to tell all stories and more?

I've watched this movie six times and I'm currently about 20 min into my seventh. Yes, I enjoy the hell out of this movie.

I think people have become institutionalized by the Marvel Universe. Meaning, the Avengers movies felt so much heavier because all the characters were so developed.

News flash! Many of the characters had their own movie or several!!!

How the hell can you make an entire movie about any MK character without all the others???

Answer that and I'll agree to hear the ****

This movie is great. Mark my words, in time, we will all come to appreciate what has been done here.

I only hope that all the **** reviews haven't ruined our chances at future films.

If you haven't seen this, WATCH IT.

Came in with zero expectations and left the drive in theater quite happy with what I saw. Very good acting and interesting plot. Better than most action movies I’ve seen in the last 20 years. Just watch and have fun. Recommended.

Excellent MK film. Really solid video game adaptation with just about everything you could ask for. Does justice to the franchise, delivers non-stop action, somehow manages to have a plot and characters.

Obviously, rated R for lots of reasons. I think they overdid it with the language, but the blood makes sense for the MK franchise.

Hard to review if you're not a fan of the game series. In that case, it's probably just a ridiculous over the top martial arts movie. A few uneven performances on the acting side, but what are you gonna do? Nobody was "bad" so that's a win.… Expand

Shang Tsung: Shang tsung is one of the best characters in the game in this movie he was annoying and cringed to watch Mileena : mileena was not needed at all she was useless I felt like they throwed her in the movie for no reason at all

What an entertaining movie. As an MK fan growing up and playing the various iterations they finally did justice to the franchise. Having played many of the Mortal Kombat video games over the years, seen the cheesy and visually painful older versions of Mortal Kombat movies,I couldn't been happier seeing this adaptation here come to life (Too bad I could not watch it onHaving played many of the Mortal Kombat video games over the years, seen the cheesy and visually painful older versions of Mortal Kombat movies,I couldn't been happier seeing this adaptation here come to life (Too bad I could not watch it on cinema due to COVID tho). Even tho I don't know the whole Mortal Kombat lore, I believe it was obvious that the director and the cast respected the source material and wanted to make a good film, which they did in my opinion. Great cinematography overall with beautiful landscapes, a very nice music score including the iconic soundtrack, the casting was spot on and the fighting was non stop from start to finish, exactly what you would expect to see in a Mortal Kombat movie. I will not spoil anything here because I believe, every Mortal Kombat fan or anyone who just likes fighting movies should watch it and make up their own mind. My score for the movie is easily 9/10 with only "complaint" really being that, I enjoyed it so much I could see myself watching an extra hour more, didn't want it to end. I would love to see more Mortal Kombat ovies in the future following this direction and approach.… Expand

This version of Mortal Kombat, was a fun/action movie, did pretty good with sticking to the original MK characters for the most part, I just feel it was on a tight budget for a Blockbuster that requires a lot of CGI. It's a 9 for me. Not because the script was amazing, not because the acting was perfect, but because the movie is what it needs to be. It's cheesy at times, but I went to this film expecting something to be FUN. It was fun the entire wayIt's a 9 for me. It was fun the entire way through, I enjoyed the characters, I liked the fight scenes, I really REALLY enjoyed how they handled Sub-Zero and Scorpion. Kano steals most of the scenes he's in. Liu Kang and Kung Lao were a lot of fun. Sonya was great.

If you want to watch a film that's fun, take it for a ride. If you are looking for Oscar material, go somewhere else. But on a whole, it was a blast.

My one criticism of the film is it might have been too fast paced for the plot at a few points, and might have worked better with a couple more minutes to breathe in some areas, but it's a really small complaint from me.… Expand

Given the insane lore and retcons already established, no one can complain about continuity. They've established a theatrical universe with, hopefully, more to come. Good A$$ movie. People who kontinue to say there is no plot line or bad plot do not understand MK lore or the realms and should watch again or maybe stick to Harry Potter. This movie is def. a Part 1 of 2 and this movie sets up the next beautifully. The reviews remind me of when Kill Bill Vol. 1 came out and people killed it and didn’t get the vision til Vol. 2 came out. The movie does well taking the time to set up the Earthrealm characters and how each ends up brutally becoming MK combatants. The development of the new character is well done with dope weapons in the blade and Kali stick. Kano and Kabal are gems in this movie.

The Tournament will obviously be hosted by Shao Kahn in the 2nd movie and Bi-Han will return as Noob. Kung Lau will probably become a revenant like in MKX and Goro will return from the NetherRealm. Raiden might even summon Night Wolf and Katana. The cinematography is top notch and the camera work on the fight scenes is awesome and add realism to a video game movie. They give perfect nods to the game itself in well timed parts and the movie works great comedically and seriously which is though to pull off. The movie is fun and will be rewatched when the 2nd comes out and the reviews will only get better with time.… Expand

Genuinely for the fans. Cheesy one liners, fantastic action choreography. And the story works really well! I think the addition of Cole makes sense for what the movie needs to do, and overall I'm looking forward to the trilogy.

For a "game based" movie, it was quite good. If I'm being honest, the storyline was so-so. It's a bit rushed. Great movie! The producers did a fantastic job fleshing the characters into real life and the movie was a lot of fun to watch as a fan of the video games. I absolutely feel that the writers did right by the fans. The story was a bit all overGreat movie! Well beyond expectations, there were times where I was concerned the extreme nature of the movie would wear thin however it was consistently entertaining. Kano didn’t disappoint.

Yes, a few actors arent the best, yet they are well cast except some exceptions.

But I dont really know what people expected from a cringy IP in the first place? A masterwork of art and acting? Please... Its action. Stupid, unrealistic and brainless action!
For todays standards this is a very good brainless flick, that simply entertains through good action, in the likes that you havent seen since the 90s.
Also it has almost no political crap in it, which gives it quite a few plus points. But it doesnt get along completely without it. Mileena is such a thing. She looks nothing like the original character (not even the same ethnicity) and has a body shape that makes her fit better into a Weight Watchers commercial. She also gets dealt with rather effortless. Other than that its really well made and how those fighters got their powers and other abilities/features is also more or less well explained.
I am excited for a sequel!… Expand

Im very happy that they made a Mortal Kombat movie. Of course some things werent as good and some were great and maybe they shouldn't added a character, who isnt in the games, but anyway I enjoyed it as a Mortal Kombat game fan

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. As long as you do not shoot holes in the story, it's a great movie. SPOILER ALERT. The Mark represents a chosen for the tournament, but for some dumb reason Cole's mark was passed down through his bloodline, which originates with Scorpion. Everyone else has to get their mark by killing a combatant that has the mark and it transfers over. Last gripe would be the actor they chose for Raiden. Dry as a popcorn fart and very hard to understand. Okay with they bad out of the way, this film was GREAT. Seems like a prequel and there will definitely be another one, especially since there was no actual tournament in this one. Fights were amazing and they managed to bring in actual fatalities. If you're a fan of the game, then go see it. It's worth it for sure. If you're not a fan, you won't get it, so don't go. Simple as that… Expand

Its goddarn Mortal Kombat as a movie. Some details are missing but the fights are good and the feeling of the games is there for sure. Anyone complaining about this movie not "respecting" MK is a nerd who thinks the punching game is somehow highbrow

Exactly what I was after. lots of awesome fights, full of gore and cool effects. Good enough story and pretty funny at times. very happy overall! FYI didn't know much about the games going in, got some of the references.
