A truly sensational film! The utter definition of a must-watch.

'Everything Everywhere All at Once' is impressive from every single viewpoint. I had heard murmurs of it being a great film, yet it still managed to completely smash my expectations. This 2022 release features a superb cast, a fascinating story and some top notch visuals. The editing and pacing, in particular, are brilliant.

The onscreen talent are all fantastic, but Michelle Yeoh is still the absolute standout from this. What a performance! I could watch her in this role over and over and over. With that said, Ke Huy Quan (welcome back!) is awesome as well, as are Stephanie Hsu, James Hong and Jamie Lee Curtis. Everyone plays their part very, very well.

All of the humour lands, with some parts being truly funny. It also manages to show supremely enjoyable action alongside a highly meaningful side too. In short: EEAAO is outstanding - you must see it if you get the opportunity!

Absolutely one of, if not my favorite movie of all time

It's near impossible to spoil this movie, even if i were to explain the plot in painstaking detail. It still won't diminish that cathartic feeling you're left with when the credits role around. This is to the films credit and it's rare to discover a film where the sum of all it's parts successfully elevate the whole so completely. This movie should have stumbled in it's near unmatched ambitiousness but instead, somehow, it incorporates slice of life, comedy, drama, sci-fi, martial arts, romance, coming of age and existential philosophy into an unforgettable package resulting in laughs, intrigue, adrenaline, and deep contemplation about the meaning of life itself. I laughed and cried along with the majority of the audience.

On a side note, don't believe the people saying this movie has forced diversity or has pandering elements. It doesn't, whatsoever. I think they conflate the diversity of the cast with pandering which is really terrible logic.

The acting was stellar, cinematography and editing on point and the storytelling didn't let up for one moment. A masterpiece deserving of your undivided attention. Go see it now!

Evelyn (Michelle Yeoh) is an aging Chinese immigrant living in America with her own laundromat business. Struggling with everyday problems like family, taxes and an upcoming audit, Evelyn doesn’t seem to be living her best life. Things soonEvelyn (Michelle Yeoh) is an aging Chinese immigrant living in America with her own laundromat business. Struggling with everyday problems like family, taxes and an upcoming audit, Evelyn doesn’t seem to be living her best life. Things soon take a rapid change when she becomes swept up in an absolutely insane adventure in which she alone can save the world by exploring other universes and connecting with the lives she could have led.

In the infinite multiverse there are quite literally endless possibilities. There are no rules and no boundaries. It gives the filmmakers complete freedom to do whatever they like, while also avoiding the pitfalls of overloading the audience and still keeping an actual story going through all the mayhem. Everything Everywhere All at Once has blown everything out of the water and pushes the boundaries of filmmaking to an entirely new level. Directors Dan Kwan and Daniel Scheinert who gave us another crazy film, Swiss Army Man have created something really special with Everything Everywhere All at Once. So even though my head is melted and I felt I needed time to process the insanity of Everything Everywhere All at Once, this is a film I urge all of you to see.

At its heart it’s a story about the stresses of life, the feelings of regret and the constant ‘what if’ that I believe we can all relate to. There is also a mother daughter theme amongst the chaos. It’s really unlike anything you’ve ever seen before and I know we’ve had a few very recent trend of movies exploring the multiverse (Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and Spider-Man: No Way Home) but this is something else entirely on another level. There are so many crazy alternative universes jam-packed into it making you as an audience question every potential life you could have lived and also showing you some mental universes you’d never think possible. I’m not going to say too much as all my reviews are spoiler free but Everything Everywhere All at Once is this decade’s The Matrix. The story takes you on a very chaotic journey which is also far more emotional than I expected. Michelle Yeoh and her daughter Joy (Stephanie Hsu) are absolutely wonderful. You’ve also got Ke Huy Quan (Short Round), James Hong and Jamie Lee Curtis in there. The entire cast are brilliant and I can only image the fun they all had creating this spectacular movie that had most of the cinema in stitches laughing.

Everything Everywhere All at Once is feckin’ bonkers, highly original and an experience not to be missed. Highly recommended, although I can tell you this will not be for everyone, and the only way to know for sure is to give it a chance but you cannot beat the feeling of seeing this madness in a packed cinema.

I went and made an account just to warn people not to see this movie. My fiancé and I left feeling so gross and angry that we spent Friday night seeing it. Honestly, I wish I never saw it and am truly so confused how people liked this movie. It was clearly written by someone on drugs and needs to be watched by people on drugs. I don't do drugs so hated it. It's SOOO gross, so confusing, seems demonic and just so freaking weird it was shocking. I kept waiting for it to be good or for it to all tie together but nope. Don't do it. Expand

This movie skillfully utilises symbolism and humour to address themes of nihilism, sacrifice, depression and intergenerational trauma. Uniquely, this film could also be titled Truly All Genres All At Once as it incorporates comedy, drama and action into its core identify as a sci-fi film. There is bound to be many laugh out loud moment as well as many moments of introspections which makes it a cognitive experience as well. Adding to a mind blowing plot, is the artful directing, sound score and costume design which adds vibrancy to the message being conveyed. This aspect of the film truly makes it a sensory experience. Your brain will undoubtedly be stimulated. Overall verdict: a cinematic experience once must experience in the cinemas. This will undoubtedly one of the front runners for Best Picture. Expand

Zany, funny and increadibly creative movie that overstays its welcome and doesn't quite nail the themes/arc/plot.

The first 60 minutes of this movie are incredibly entertaining and some of the most creative cinema in a while. Unfortunately, much of the movie takes place inside an office building so the setting wears off after a while. And once the concept is fully explored, the emotional heart of the movie takes too long to come together, despite being fairly simple.

So despite being an incredibly unique film, I was quite exhausted by the end of it and wished we could have gotten to the finish line 20 minutes earlier.

“Just be a rock”

Oh man my first thoughts when the movie ended was holy **** I’m 99% sure I just witnessed a classic. The trailer for this movie does a great job of essentially telling you the bare minimum you need to know about the plot but the movie itself is something I can’t quite say I’ve ever seen before. The first thing that stuck out was how funny the movie was the jokes aren’t corny at all and don’t feel forced at all and genuinely funny knee slapping material. The action is standout as well as the movies not marketed to be an action thriller but the fighting in the movie just seems so realistic with the use of everyday things like a Fanny pack ( that whole fight sequence with the Fanny pack was **** phenomenal ) and just stuff on an office desk like an office award (you’ll understand this if you’ve seen the movie

The 2020s have produced some phenomenal films but this wipes the table with them. Genuinely one of the most creative and heartwarming films to come out in a while. This film takes the multiverse concept that’s been trending for the past year or two and takes it a whole new original direction. The incorporation of it works and I loved it. The Daniels did a fantastic job directing this. There is a funny and unique style present throughout the whole film that keeps your eyes glued to the screen. Michelle Yeoh, Key Huy Quan, and Stephanie Hsu are fantastic here and all 3 of their performances are somewhere on my 3 favorite performances of this year. Their characters are incredibly unique and interesting to follow and it’s a great return to screen for Quan who hasn’t been in a major film since The Goonies. They did a fantastic job playing all these different versions of themselves and making them feel familiar yet different at the same time. The emotional beats work so well. The film made me tear up on multiple occasions in the last 30 minutes because these characters are just so wonderful to follow. Any scene at the end manages to make you happy for these characters and the struggle that they have been through. The action and cinematography go hand in hand with amazing they are. There isn’t an action set piece that feels repeated and every scene is so amazing in their own separate way whether it’s really cool and badass or just really funny as well. This film manages to use so many different cool and fun colors that immediately keep your eyes glued to the screen no matter what is going on. The film’s use of themes like existentialism and where we belong in this world work perfectly for this story and even we are no one, we are someone out there to somebody else. This is an absolutely necessary watch for anyone who enjoys movies. It’s a masterpiece in every aspect of filmmaking and it 100% deserves the price of admission. Go see this right now. Expand

Never heard of it! “Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore”? Literally who?! Man, stop paying attention to all this mainstream, normie-ass hoopty-doopty-ass rubbish, and go watch a quality movie. I am, of course, referring to “Everything Everywhere All At Once.”

Brought to us by the same creative minds as “Swiss Army Man,” “Everything Everywhere All At Once” is a purposeful and profound experience. This film had me laughing in a way that I haven’t laughed in a movie theater in a long time, and even had me getting a bit teary eyed at certain parts. There were even a couple of scenes that managed to crack me up and tug at my heart strings at the same time. All of this, coupled with AMAZINGLY well choreographed fight scenes creates a brilliant movie that hits every mark. I don’t want to get into too much detail, as everyone should experience this movie with as little information as possible just for the sheer “Rollercoaster Effect” that this movie has on it’s viewers.

It's so refreshing to watch a movie that isn't a reboot, or a remake or a reimagining of something else! This is easily one of the best movies of 2022 and I can’t see too many other movies topping it. 9/10

The balancing of tones, storylines, plants and payoffs — it's like watching a high-wire act involving the juggling of both chainsaws and puppies at the same time. Daniels, however, end up excelling in nearly every intangible facet. Notwithstanding a couple structural issues I had towards the end of the film, this is an emotionally satisfying, superbly realized adventure, with resonant thematics and gut-busting laughter. Hoping the duo at hand has many, many more projects like this in the works. Expand

Great acting by the cast. The movie starts strong, but drags on. Then it proceeds to go into the absurd. The movie moved into humor that doesn't work for me. This movie needed to be tightened up. Just not for me.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. This was a fun film that keeps you very entertained through out. Michelle Yeoh does great at pretending like she doesn't know martial arts even though that's her extensive film history. And I like that this film isn't afraid to get weird. What did make me lose a bit of interest was the climax. It got too convoluted with all the time lines that the shots cutting to the universes back and forth was breaking up the pace just so it could force tying up each version of her with a happy ending. Things suddenly become extremely weird when she and her hubby (Kw Huy Quan in a charming turn) go to the IRS (featuring Jamie Lee Curtis as a frumpy auditor). She ends up as various incarnations of herself in multiverses fighting to save the universe from destruction. Even though this description sounds like it may be a Marvel-based superhero adventure, it's not. It's a zany trip thru several realities with confusing connections. These sci-fi sections are crazy fun and the frenzied martial arts moments propel the film. However, there's a lot of metaphysical mumbo jumbo that slows the momentum. There are also attempts at emotional family connections that don't resonate. This is the 2nd feature from Daniels, the directing duo whose 1st film was Swiss Army Man. An excerpt from that review applies to this film as well, "A highly-original and rollickingly-weird premise that gets bogged down with too much message." Expand

Ironically, they didn't spend enough time in any of her other lives to really care about the character(s).

I'm a big fan of Michelle Yeoh. She was as good as she could be with what she was given. The other actors were good, too. To me, this seems like a director trying too hard to be cool. Its structure reminds me a lot of a movie from 1974 called Zardoz and it's every bit as disjointed.

Transitions well between the bizarre, juvenile humor, heartfelt family drama, and martial arts action sequences. I felt the full whirlwind of emotions from tears to laughter to awestruck at the creative action sequences.

I could see some criticizing the immature humor, but after seeing Swiss Army Man, I had a good feel for the directors humor going into the film. If you have an aversion to old school Asian martial arts or female leads in action movies, you may have not like the action sequences.

There are some portions that require reading subtitles. You’ll also need to open minded to some absolutely, totally bizarre, way out of left field scenes. Overall none of these deterred any of my enjoyment. Most fun I’ve had in a theater in 2022 by a large margin. The wife enjoyed it too. Not particularly violent, but there was some fairly crude humor and strong language at times if you’re planning on attending this with family. Strongly recommend

While dealing with a tax issue the main character is told about a war in the multiverse that needs her attention. The movie is action packed, emotion packed, and funny af. This is definitely NOT one of those times. This was one of the most pointless, gratuitous violence-filled movies I have ever seen. And I REALLY tried to give it a chance, but with 40 minutes to go, we finally walked out. I had such high hopes from the trailer, expecting to see a movie that, yes, was frenetic but was reaching to show a woman who was seeking to find meaning in different versions of her life and herself. It even started out okay for the first 20 minutes. But then it relied on stupid comedy (that wasn’t even that funny) and sensationalized violence that had no purpose. From there, Evelyn explores and fights her way across multiple universes in search for answers and discovers the importance and value of her family along the way. First off, this film is absolutely bonkers! Nothing could have prepared me for just how wild and off-the-walls insane this one would be! It was almost kind of a sensory overload for me at times to be completely honest. However, that's not to say that I didn't enjoy myself immensely while watching this, because I absolutely did! There's a little bit of everything in this film to enjoy (hence its title perhaps). From subtle winks and nods to other films, to being an all-out Love letter to Kung Fu cinema, this one offers up so much without ever really slowing down much! The fight scenes are expertly choreographed and unbelievably impressive, and the multiverse story, though it's been explored quite a bit in recent films (*cough* *cough* 'Spider-Man: No Way Home' *cough*), this one still manages to feel fresh and unique enough and brings so much zany and innovative ideas to the table that most will be able to completely overlook this aspect like I did! As for the performances, Michelle Yeoh gets her much overdue starring Hollywood role with this film and shines brilliantly in every single way! She'll have you rooting and crying for her from start to finish! Ke Huy Quan (who's now all grown up from being a Goonie and aiding Dr. Jones as Shortround) Expand

Chances are most of us aren't even aware of any of our other selves, but those well versed in metaphysical circles have a good sense about them, and making audiences aware of this phenomenon is what this manic comedy-drama is all about. When the beleaguered owner of a laundromat is beset by issues with her husband, father, daughter and the IRS, it seems, like the title implies, that everything hits, all at once. But that's nothing compared to what happens when she's unexpectedly contacted by a different version of her spouse who informs her that he's been looking for her for a long time to help resolve an issue with a growing evil in the multiverse, a concept with which she's supposedly best suited but completely unfamiliar. However, as her awareness grows, this new adventure begins opening doors for her in unexpected ways, not only in the universe in which she dwells, but also those in which other versions of herself reside. The result is an insightful and hilarious exploration of some heady philosophical and moral concepts, punctuated by stunningly clever visual effects, huge laughs, clever send-ups of a variety of other films, and dynamite performances by Michelle Yeoh and Jamie Lee Curtis. Nevertheless, despite these assets, the film goes on far too long, telling a story that could have easily been trimmed by about a half-hour, primarily by eliminating some bits that overstay their welcome (such as take-offs of martial arts movies that start out funny but grow tiresome after a few too many runs). This offering from directors Dan Kwan and Daniel Scheinert is certainly an ambitious and inventive release, but it's unfortunate that the filmmakers didn't know when to quit. It's indeed worth a look, but it's regrettable that those responsible for the picture didn't quite know when to stop. Expand

Some critics say the art of cinema is saturated with superheroes and stories that don't bring anything useful to the audience. That they don't challenge them, and they're not inventive enough. But when they break out of the mould, theySome critics say the art of cinema is saturated with superheroes and stories that don't bring anything useful to the audience. That they don't challenge them, and they're not inventive enough. But when they break out of the mould, they dismiss them as too ambitious and complicated for those same audiences.
So what the hell are we doing? Or are they telling the crowd they're too dumb?

And I comment on this because one of the many things I've heard about this film is that it would be too much for the average audience, but that's not the case at all.

Everything Everywhere All at Once is perhaps a film that pushes its concept a bit too far, but that doesn't make it any less appealing. Because as far as I could tell, once its plot explodes, the chaos of everything it presents is the cornerstone of the story, and therefore you must embrace that chaos.

The irony of it all is that in the end it's actually a pretty ordinary story.
Yes, of course, it is still an emotional, philosophical and profound journey through a complex narrative device such as the multiverse, but the underlying idea is still a story in which its protagonist must confront and question everything about her life. From her family to the decisions and failures that have brought her to the point where she finds herself when it all begins.

Perhaps the teaching addressed in its conclusion is nothing earth-shattering, but the journey to reach it was thoroughly entertaining, chaotic and exhilarating, and that was something really, really good.

And above all, what a great performance by Michelle Yeoh. She is the absolute captain of this film. Her co-stars do a great job too, but this is her show.

This review contains spoilers, click expand to view. Everything everywhere all at once. This movie is over the place, dreamy, 天马行空. It uses the facade of multiverse to discuss real family problems. Every small decision we make has huge implication in our life and other universe. The fighting scene reminds me a lot of The Matrix- uploading skill pack. The first 30 mins audience can still try to understand it. But after that, it’s just impossible to grasp. Director is great at using slow mo, cinematography, and music to manipulate audience emotions- basically an intense emotional roller coaster. The simplest way to understand this movie is that lady has a lot of stress- from IRS audit, from divorce request, from daughter being gay and abandoned family, from father’s disapproval, etc. Everything is fake and in her head and she’s trying to find resolution. She finally found peace at the end. Such a complicated but beautiful movie Expand

Seems like everybody makes a Multiverse movies nowadays. I'm a fan of Michelle Yeoh since Police Story 3... she lately for the past couple of years kinda have a renaissance in her acting career... she is everywhere... movies and TV.

Of all the movies she's in...I think she never play a role that carry a movie... she always part of ensembles. This is the best movie she's ever in that shows how great of an actor she is. She not just have a wide acting range... she have ALL the range.

This is the movie that her agent need to put in the top of her resume as reference when sending to movie studio for casting.

The movie itself kinda amazing... a beautiful chaotic mess, action packed, funny and emotional... I love how Multiverse were explained in the movie and the approach to Multiverse itself is very unique and new. The jump pad where they tap into Multiverse skills are hilarious. The only one negative for me is the 3rd act... somehow the film maker couldn't find a way to neatly wrapped up the conclusion. Since it is a beautiful mess that are chaotic... the 3rd act keep going on and on and it become exhaustive. The runtime is around 2 hours... it could be tighten into 1 hour 45 minutes. HIGHLY... highly recommended... 8/10... the actor who played the husband is the kid in Indiana Jones and The Temple of Doom and The Goonies... he done a lot of acting work since then but I always remember him from that 2 movies.
